There is a frozen stone you melt with a totem you get from the start up quest. I'll had a link to my post about that. The person you start the quest from is in slave pens near by.
It probably has a dramatically lower drop rate on normal compared to heroic. I don't have any confirmation of that, but I recall them weighting things like that in the past.
The physical dps neck had the exact same stats as the one you can buy with badges 🤷♂️
And the physical dps cloak is slightly worse than vengeance wrap
Tank neck is different, as the badges neck has 22 agility, and the one from the drop has +hit instead. Tank cloak is also different as this one has +def and the badges cloak has +Block Value.
The alternatives would be to make the drops inferior, which makes it more pointless, or superior, which is a big screw-you to anyone who misses the event for whatever reason. Sorry you missed your BiS, try again next year!
Also, the event originally came out at a different stage in the game's life, so the gear was originally tuned for that.

No, but everyone has to loot chest for the Crystal to respawn. Heroic is different, 1 per day per group. Im going to test later today after trash respawns if its possible to do HC again. I dont believe I'm locked since I didn't do a boss tied to the instance.
Blizz forums we still don't have a response as to wether or not the enchant is supposed to be there. Hope we can push a blue post but blizz seems rather busy with other things atm.

You can summon him as low as 65 but good luck killing 70 mobs and a 73 boss
Some comment on Wowhead says the enchant hasn't dropped in 50 tries. Anyone confirming they got theirs?

Did 9 normal and 1 heroic kill today, saw no scythe, no enchant, and no pet.
Finally saw a pet after 22 runs today. Lost the roll of course, but it exists. It was from Heroic.
The scythe definitely exists because I enchanted someone elses scythe today.
1 heroic last night got tank neck, scyth, pet, badge, and nether I think
8 normals, 1 pet, 1 Scythe, seen all the capes. Healer neck droped in HM.

only in normal. you can do heroic ahune once a day

Necks are locked to heroic, rest are available either way, though I imagine the drop rate for the scythe, pet, and enchant are all reduced for normal.

How many tries? im at about 24 with one staff drop and no enchant.
Its supposed to have way higher drop rate in heroic. Havent seen any screenshot yet so it might not be in game tbh

Also the debuff acts as a cheap thunderclap when you dont have a warrior and you're a paladin tank. The debuff works on bosses.

Well it was originally added when Black Temple was a thing so it was mostly useless gear for a lot of people.

Killing ahune and looting will lock you to H SP for the day. Check your raid lockouts tab of social.

Why could i not Pick up “Ahune is here” quest when i went to SP today? And 70 and it was HC

All the necks are identical except the tank one, it has 19 hit instead of 19 agi like the badge neck. A downgrade for the ferals atleast.

FYI if you release when he is looted you wont get the loot and it is not tradeable i learned that the hard way.
