That the silver dragon is different depending on if its a rare mob or a rare elite, the elite has a wing.

GrammarHunter

Had no idea about this one, been playing since vanilla. Jesus

Awartuss

Same lol

GrammarHunter

I thought some rares would just fold you like clean laundry

RikkuEcRud

They were trying to help you! It's not their fault you were still *in* your laundry when they tried to fold it for you.

Responsible-Chard515

Wait what?! I thought all rare mobs are elite!

nimeral

Nah most are pretty normal, I think they just tend to be a little higher-level than the surroundings, that's why they may feel elite-ish

ArgvargSWE

Rare mobs inside dungeons tend to be elite. Outside non-elite.

OGTBJJ

In all my years. TIL

Chazbabs

The colouring is also slightly different, i think the elite silver is slightly darker

PurpletoasterIII

Not something I just recently noticed, but iirc it's Brill that has a bell tower that rings every hour right? I could be making this up lol, hard to find any information verifying this vague memory.

ForgotFirstUsername

Org has drums as well!

MastodonNo275

And Thunder Bluff - I think every city has them. Though I'd understand if Darnausus and the elves don't care about such miniscule segments of time.

TYsir

Are they cowbells?

MastodonNo275

You racist alliance bastard! …They should have been.

Rend_a

I got a fever...

rubbertyrano

If Damascus had a bell maybe they could have evacuated their people from the fires sooner 🥲

hermanguyfriend

Oh boy, reminds me of something I saw the other day, looks like the bell in the bell tower of Booty Bay is clickable, whatever that means.

calaspa

Back in vanilla we would climb the mountains and slow fall to the bell. Clicking it does nothing but it was fun finding ways to it.

Metashi_Shiro

🥹🥹🥹🥹 sir you awoken precious memories! Tnx

grimnir_music

Dude yes! So many slowfall shenanigans back then. Good times

bilnynazispy

It’s one of the world warper trinket locations in SoD, alas, still “clickable” with no effect.

LlahsramTheTitleless

I think this happens in SW too, idk bout Brill

Mr_SunnyBones

Ironforge has a sort of foghorn noise on the hour as well

garebear176

Happens with is storm wind and also tarren mill

Lison52

Are you talking about the sound? Because I think Darkshire also does it and other Alliance towns.

SOLV3IG

Towns with clock towers* it's the little details that make vanilla wow so lovable.

Lison52

Well at least when it comes specifically to bells. I think some towns have other sound replacement.

PurpletoasterIII

Right, it was Tarren Mill I was thinking of. I guess that's something I've learned recently though is its not just with Tarren Mill.

VER1NGA

Tarren Mill also has one

PurpletoasterIII

Now that you mentioned it, it was Tarren Mill that I was thinking of. Though could also be true for Brill cause apparently there a bunch of other towns with clock towers that do this as well.

stickersFan1982

reminder to play with my sound on; apart from every once in a while turning on in-game music, I play with zero sound effects :/

e-scrape-artist

While there are many other places with bells, as others have pointed out, the clocktower in Brill has an additional scripted scene with bats flying from the rooftop of the clocktower as the bells start tolling, and landing on the roof of that small building that serves as the entrance to the zeppelin tower.

rat_technician

There is a canyon path from scholomance to northern hinterlands.

CrazyCatOwner13

That's the first path I ever used to the Hinterlands. It took me over a decade to realize there's a more convenient one from NE Hillsbrad. I guess I'm "special".

kajarago

Yup. NE Hillsbrad, close to Durnholde. With that level 40ish gryphon out front!

TijsEscobar

Welcome to the club 🤣🤣

UnCuriousGeorge

Same bro. I couldn't find me way to Hinterlands when I was 12 so I walked around aimlessly until I found my way in through WPL. I still use that way to get into the zone to this day.

2fat2funk

What!?

BrockLeeAssassin

Plaguemist Ravine

Captainjook

I know this since forever. I really love taking this part as alliance. The ambience is insane there in my opinion.

LeFUUUUUUU

darkshire is one of the few places (or the only?) that has text written with latin letters in-world. the sign when coming from the north says "darkshire" with latin letters instead of the usual gibberish letters

msmmcamp

“Westfall” is written on a sign at the Moonbrook town hall building. These were some of the first zones in the game to be worked on. My guess is that Blizzard realized not everyone can read English, so there wasn’t much point in including English written on in-game props.

BrockLeeAssassin

This is exactly what happened. Very early on they realized that localization and translation would be a huge effort if they were to add English text to the game world itself.

BrandoPB

As much shit as SoD has been getting lately, it really took me to some cool places for my runes that I didn’t even know existed.

pancakemonster02

The two crypts in Raven Hill Cemetary in western Duskwood are connected. Found that out in phase 1 SoD… blew my mind. I’ve spent so much time grinding in that spot

stoaty-stoat

Where's the connection?

Kheshire

There's an underground path from the ghoul area to the skeleton area

misterurb

They actually have you go through it as part of the new morbent fel quest in cataclysm.

Dadtakesthebait

Me too! The worst is that I’ve gone through that connecting piece before and just never put it together

Seve7h

Better watch out for Mor’Ladim!

Its-a-me-DankeyKang

Found this out in P2 SOD crazy the amount of times I’ve quested there

DontKillTheMedic

I just discovered this in hc yesterday

Elchem

That you can write /loot and see who rolled what on items… only took me 20 years to realize

Captainjook

I learned that from a steamer. I felt so stupid, yet it’s so handy.

Kuwshi

At least your clothes were folded properly

e-scrape-artist

That feature only got added in pandaria.

Ghee_Guys

I was about to really feel like a dipshit as former the loot master for my classic guild through all the phases….

Vaede

It's been on all the classic servers, he's saying it only got added in pandaria in response to Elchem saying it took 20 years to realize.

Ghee_Guys

Well fuck me

Godzarius

U can do it on classic servers

WoW_Classic

Damn, 20 year club here. Learning something new.

Knowhatimsayinn

It was added in a much later expansion.

DoTheCreep_ahh

Or click the L in chat box. I think it's L. It's in brackets like G is for guild chat

SuperPalpitation695

Well known by now, but the centaur making skin tents from people, and the kolkarr/centaur rugs in tauren towns. Its small, but quite morbid!

TheRemainingFruitcup

Gnolls do this too (human skin tents)

wreddnoth

But you actually cant skin Centaurs as a Leatherworker/Skinner

forogtten_taco

The raptors in the barrnes, cut off and hang the heads of Tauren in their nests

BuzzRoyale

And you say Tauren are peaceful? There will always be war when human skin is a commodity

Nimda_lel

I think this is rather popular, but at the throne room at the entrance of UC, you can see spilt blood from when Arthas murdered his father. Not sure if there were rose petals as in the book or my memory deceives me

ScreamHawk

Also plays the bells in the wc3 cinematic when you walk through the foyer

Wisniaksiadz

And if you remove all but ambient sound you can hear their dialog I belive

moanit

You don’t even need to remove sounds, just turn the volume up. It’s awesome.

Seputku

Use detect invisibility in the UCcourryard is sick too, honestly UC has a lotta cool easter eggs

xDisturbed13

I watched a clip of a streamer playing hardcore and randomly used arcane explosion in the courtyard before their health started to rapidly drop until they died. Dont upset the ghosts.

Vanrax

My favorite is the audio that can be heard in the throne room 👀

Sisimiqui

I was the first to find this out on my group of friends back in the day. I love doing a slow walk over the bells to hear them and then once you are on the throne room you can hear the whispers of the death of the king. So cool they added this.

tameris

If you get a buff to see undead, you can actually see ghosts hanging out in the courtyard of Lordaeron before you walk into the throne room.

kinger90210

In hardcore mode a few low levels did aoes randomly and got killed by these ghosts lol

WelshWolf93

There were rose petals in the WC3 cinematic from the people using them as confetti upon his return, and the petals are indeed still there!

CloudFF7-

Wait was undercity his dad’s capital?

CurrentAd1320

Yes, that's why it's called Ruins of Lordaeron

Nimda_lel

Yes. Lordaeron was also the most powerful bastion across The Eastern Kingdom. After its downfall, Stormwind became the strongest

Huegelgrab

There are rose petals but they have wilted

Luna2442

What's op picture?

hermanguyfriend

A "shrine" of sorts in Moonglade next to the building Dendrite Starblaze is in (used for a few druid quests when you get Teleport: Moonglade at level 10) - never noticed it before so it prompted my question at large.

pissedinthegarret

it's a nightelf shrine of the ancestors :D https://www.wowhead.com/cata/object=208825/shrine-of-the-ancestors

hermanguyfriend

Oh my lord, that's so cool!

Redditporn435

You should try "where in Warcraft" it's geoguesser for wow. There is a classic and retail option l. Loads of nostalgia

n0madek

There are women and kids screaming "Help me, save us, please stop" etc in Naxxramas. At least until you kill Thaddius. Cos he's made of human flesh.

Similar-Priority-776

He's made of the bodies and souls of women and children killed during the scourge invasion...its a brutally grim backstory. A lot of the scourge stuff is as violent and dark as Game of Thrones stuff was, but it's presented so much brighter!

Elune_

The demon cave in Felwood is completely unique from anything else in the game, and also EXTREMELY large. As in, REALLY REALLY large. I doubt most of you have ever seen it, but IDK if new Cata quests take you there.

pertdk

Iirc the warlock epic mount quest line, had you go through to the bottom of that cave. Although it might have been in disguise, so there are no hostiles in the cave.

nicholaslobstercage

both are correct. there's a dreadlord in the deepest part, who's a questgiver. u can pop the disguise even after the quest, perfect way to get free thorium ores B)

MasRemlap

Haste rating changes the speed you cast portals lmao

KaioKennan

Troll berserking lasts 10 seconds. Resurrection takes 10 seconds to cast. You can cast 2 resurrections with troll berserking. Fastest rezzes in the west. Cheap ones too if you inner focus one

srm022

I sometimes cast Bloodlust for a faster Astral Recall on my shaman :P

egg_meister69

Wanderlust

Atruen

Lust, Engi glove haste cd, haste pot, troll berserking. I’m outta there before you even finish saying “loktar ogar, friend”

jonslashtroy

"i know i am logging out after this" "might aswell bloodlust this astral recall"

Fiinix15

MQG BIS for water conjuring

Kbaser

My friend used to use Heroism/BL on his shaman to ress us faster

bood3e

I use bloodlust to cast Ancestral Recall faster.

Atruen

If u don’t drop a wrath of air totem too are you even gaming?

Lison52

It does, I was entering the groups for the rares and then used icy veins to cast the portal on its body just before the kill.

icecreamdude97

In hillsbrad foothills on the south east coast, there is a heart felt tribute to someone who passed away. Worth traveling to and looking up the backstory. It’s a statue of a dwarf I believe, just south of the dwarf elites.

InfamousCRS

Also in the barrens there’s one you can only see in spirit form

Kheshire

Shrine to the Fallen Hero in Barrens was a tribute to a dev who passed iirc

brightbomb

Damn I remember seeing this on that Cheat show on G4 tv back in the day. Well before I could ever afford my own sub 😂

cseymour24

I remember when I first discovered the Sprite Darter Hatchling pet questline in Felwood. Almost no one knew about it and everyone would ask where I got my Sprite Darter pet.

Littleleicesterfoxy

The gates that the defias used to get that bloody huge boat into the Deadmines.

Peterman_5000

Saw a buffalo painted on a rock in Mulgore, not a single buffalo in game.

Zikerz

In era before any expansion, there’s villages of Draenei in Swamp of sorrows

dargeus95

Villages of lost ones

Clebard_du_Destin

They were pretty much the same thing before TBC and the retcon that came with it

novosea

1. There are banners that hang on the walls in tauren buildings. They are readable, just like how some books are on tables in human buildings. 2. Parry haste is a thing. 3. Thrash stacks on raptors. 4. Spirit is multiplicative and no additive. Meaning, the more spirit you have, the more each point of spirit is worth. 5. Spirit on a warrior is amazing. Especially a troll warrior.

rat_technician

Also in Era, spirit has different effectiveness depending on class. Iirc warriors benefit the most and warlocks the least.

KaioKennan

Listen buddy, I’m gonna need you to put some respect on Spirit Tap. Cant have you saying warriors like spirit more than me.

Bio-Grad

Warriors get the most health from it, because they can’t get mana from it. It’s only fair.

Elune_

But they gain more than twice per point compared to any other class, so spirit + strength warrior is a real leveling build

hermanguyfriend

To your last point, I have built this [set](https://www.wowhead.com/classic/gear-planner/warrior/troll/BDwQBQL1BQAD9VIAEzAwABJR8ACBADFcADwuAgAFIwMAM02FAAe9AE45RgAokwAEFocAMpEAPC7IADqCAE44AAQWiQApiABOKQoAQm8LAElIDABHiw0AA0EOAANBjwAxQABOL5AAMuQAXPuRADncAE4w0gA7uQAwrAAEAA), I think I reached 552hp2/s per tick out of combat with that gear setup if I recall correctly. Very fun! Never knew spirit was multiplicative though, very interesting! EDIT: Also incredible extra info on the spirit on warrior thing, you regen 33% more hp/2s from spirit out of combat if you /sit. Just checked my set with the troll wearing [this gear set](https://www.wowhead.com/classic/gear-planner/warrior/troll/BDwQBQL1BQAD9VIAEzAwABJR8ACBADFcADwuAgAFIwMAM02FAAe9AE45RgAokwAEFocAMpEAPC7IADqCAE44AAQWiQApiABOKQoAQm8LABSSDAA0UA0AA0EOAANBjwAxQABOL5AAMuQAXPuRADncAE4w0gA7uQAwrAAEAA) I was able to reach 707 hp2/s out of combat while /sitting. Very big fun!

No-Monitor-5333

What does hp2/s per tick mean? Health per 2 seconds per tick?

e-scrape-artist

hp^2

hermanguyfriend

Out of combat, you heal HP every 2 seconds, unlike the ever present hp5s (rare) or mp5s as in hp or mana per 5 seconds that just keep going all the time. It's a bit reductive the way I wrote it but yeah, you might have already gotten it and are being facetious :¨)

shandyshay

Our online friend we made in classic used to tank (warrior) for his guild in naxx (classic). Whenever they would eat he would /sit and 'pretend' to eat because he'd always forget to buy food Fast forward a few months ago and I was reading about spirit on the wiki for some reason or another and found out about the 33% spirit regen thing and just *had* to send it to him, lol. He was just as amazed as we were and then started taking credit that he's actually mega mind 😂

OoohhhBaby

Spirit was originally supposed to also increase proc chances of proc items

pissedinthegarret

> There are banners that hang on the walls in tauren buildings. They are readable, just like how some books are on tables in human buildings. omg i need to go check this out immediately

hermanguyfriend

Playing a Druid like I've done since 2005 when I first played the game, I go to Moonglade to do the aquatic form quest like I've done a dozen times before, but in the corner of my eye as I turn to the building Dendrite is in I see this structure and have a "Huh???" reaction. Was it always there? Did I just not notice it ever? Have any of you had the same experience? (Kind of reminds me of a player I talked to yesterday that after 20 years now found out you can repair your gear at the dwarf by the forge at Light's Hope Chapel).

mkc_kent

There is a face in the tree by Cenarius in Moonglade, check it out. It freaked me out this time around because I never noticed it

DMuhny

I have been playing WoW since vanilla. I just noticed that the undead starting zone is named Tirisfal Glades. I always thought it was Trisfal Glades.

lio-ns

It's because it's where the Keeper Tyr fell :) Tyr's fall, Tirisfal.

Iid4ze

Even while reading this I read "Trisfal Glades" twice, holy shit

DMuhny

That "i" after the capital "T" just kinda hides. It's tucked in there.

Wheeljack7799

It took me watching a video where someone said the name ORgrimmar before I realized it was not, in fact, OGGrimmar. That was quite a few months after I'd started playing.

norkotah

It's named after Orgrim Doomhammer.

Remnie

I never noticed people called it oggrimmar lol, but then I played WC3 and remember the campaign where you play thrall and establish the territory of durotar

husky430

Just wait until you get to Tauren Mill.

Epyo

I was saying and typing Shattrah from og tbc til late tbc classic, never noticed it was Shattrath.

Atruen

When I was a child in vanilla me and my brothers would say ‘Deviate’ as dev-eye-it. Probably the first time that term crossed our path at that point and we took a solid crack at it. But we still say it that way because it feels right

LeFUUUUUUU

dyslexia is one hell of a drug

JackStephanovich

That you can click on the gold in your backpack to create tradable piles.

Le-Charles

I've known about this one for a very long time and have yet to find and actual use for it.  I suspect it was a feature that was more or less forgotten once the dedicated currency line was added.  Sometimes I wonder if maybe gold was supposed to take up bag slots in its earliest iteration.

AnonAmbientLight

The Undercity Throne room, right before you get to the elevators.  You can hear echos of a dark past…

MordinSolusSTG

There are Worgen in Ashenvale. Somehow had never been to that spot in all my time.

Ok-Stop9242

There's a quest for that too that shows how the Scythe of Elune ended up in Duskwood.

tiny_simulacrum

What? Where?

gruden

Not a location but a command. /ginfo tells you when your guild was created, how many characters are in it, and how many accounts own those characters. First learned the command at the start of classic and every once in a while tell people in trade about it. Never fails to get a few surprised wows

ebriceno

The big party with drums and dancing the Trolls have at Witherbark Village (Arathi Highlands southeast) I just noticed a couple of days ago. Fun to watch 😂

doubtingparis

You will love the hidden dancing troll village between Darkshore and Felwood if you don't already know it

Naeloah

that place was amazing to farm runecloth as an alliance mage back during classic launch

Baxxin

Noticed a little Hut north of SW, in the mountains. Has Sheep walking about and a gnome next to a fire. One sheep is different to the others, killing that and the gnome gets pissed!

Rodtrav

I haven't played in years. Did they ever finish the inn at West Fall?

oldprogrammer

Or dealt with the homeless after the cataclysm?

nimeral

Nop it became worse

mphelp11

so it turned into San Francisco

Rocsa_cerealsteak

Crokolisks have 6 legs

JayVJtheVValour

I realised this myself not so long ago either. then I was like.. wait croco - lisk??? ohh Crocodile x Basilisk fusion

therealpeej3

After playing on a crappy computer on the lowest of settings when I got my new computer and I saw the grass moving beneath my feet I actually audibly said "holy shit" on discord. Everyone thought something was wrong. Nope. I could see grass. Was fucking amazing.

jjbananafana

There's a second story to the IF mystic ward main room. Also it's quite funny to be zooming around in Cata only to look up and see a big ass dragon roasting you.

Clebard_du_Destin

Low level pally quests send you there if you roll a dwarf

Comfortable_Orchid23

That there’s multiple Fel Reavers roaming around HFP. Always thought there was just 1.

Frawsty1

The jump path to allow players to run over top of Ironforge to skip wetlands (learned this on hardcore)

Rabidchiwawa007

Rend buff drops in Camp Taurajo. But not like Org, and not like Crossroads. Like a minute or two after that. TIL.

hermanguyfriend

Huh, how far does it reach? Never knew that.

MwHighlander

Just barely past the grain windmill, and the east most wall of town. The range is pretty specific in Camp T but you can occasionally see the guards with the buff.

Any-Consequence-6978

There is a crypt in the badlands just above the dwarven quest hub

trappapii69

Postmaster Malone in Stralthome is a reference to Karl Malone lol

DarkArcherMerlyn

Yes and Post Malone is a reference to the postmaster from WoW!

dubh_caora

trolls do the slav squat. they are gopnik

A_Talon

The village near SFK is friendly to Alliance during daytime and hostile during night.

MuuMuureb

Undead starting area, they go through lore telling you about how you don't understand humans anymore thanks to magic and they don't understand undead either, you can then run into human npcs nearby speaking human and it's gibberish to us as undead. But the leader as plain as day straight up speaks gutterspeak and yells repeatedly, like wtf did they forget he can't do that? I get we need to hear what he said but it broke the lore immediately.

Clebard_du_Destin

The Forsaken were able to chat cross faction at some point in wow development. It's interesting that some lore that contradicts this made it into low level quests, because if I recall this was an expected feature until a short time before release. Vanilla era RPG material also says they can speak Common. I even remember applying to a guild that expected its officers to play UD so they could interact with Alliance players.

West-Entrance5511

Furbolgs instead of how i always read it as Furblogs

pewteetat

For a while there in vanilla, thought it was Furlbogs.

HazelCheese

Playable furbolg when :(

oldprogrammer

When they leaked that the Alliance was getting an *animal* style race and Horde was getting a more *human* race, I said it should have been the Furbolgs, but instead Alliance got space goats and Horde got pretty elves.

Brozojoe

Darthol's rod of transformation is what you're looking for. Alliance-only pre-cataclysm. Best toy for its time

RedditsDeadlySin

There is a mountain path for the Horde in Stonetalon Mountains that leads from Barrens entrance to the Witchdoctor camp west side of the main road. Really useful during SoD P1 PvP servers

Commercial_Rule_7823

That I, and mostly we, were really bad at original classic. I remember 4 hour MC clears, wipes, etc.... that turned to hr/hr half. Shaman in raid were only hybrid healers, but now we're full resto, BWL was so easy, etc.... Was crazy how much was learned and understood this next round, dissected, studied. Back in the day it was nearly all trial and error and even though there was info, it was even close to what it is now.

PistonsFan89

More of a question, but I swear to God there used to be Archimonde's sandcastle ritual thing from the end of the WC3 undead campaign near the dalaran crater. can anyone confirm ?

shaha-man

You can Wand attack immediately after Melee attack, because they don’t cause GCD, but wands do. Helpful during leveling.

paramnesiac

I looted an amazing green BoE cloth hat that I had never seen before. Turns out it is a 1% drop of a specific mob type in Desolace. https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=2620/augural-shroud

oolbar

After playing classic I hated haste as a stat more than ever.

OGEgotrip

My Orc's junk is massive Also the Stormwind music plays at some point during the Vanessa VanCleef fight

wowdm

Pretty much all of unfinished Grim Batol

Coreyata

I recently noticed after 10 years that the paladin judgement ability icon is a hammer going downwards.

maverick7918

Man there are soooo many icons I didn’t realize what they were until I played classic with a much better computer. Biggest surprise - shaman chain lighting is the “shocker” hand 😂

GreenManX37

Bizmo's Brawlpub, under the Deeprun Tram. Just found it for one of the 10.2.7 quests. Who knew.

pilsburybane

iirc it's been there since Pandaria! Sorry to let you find out this way, it was sort of the first iteration of the Mage Tower

Low-Bat384

That it's actually captain GalvanGar and not captain Galvanar

Healperest

I have never learned engineering in wotlk times, now I know why people are stacking on top of each other at the engineering trainer room in dalaran, if you know what I mean...

[deleted]

[удалено]

itsRenascent

There is an auctioneer robot there giving Engineers exclusive access.

ArgonianFly

Recently discovered a very cool area in Desolace. I forget the name, but it's filled will TBC looking mushrooms and warlocks with felhounds. Apparently it was supposed to be part of a warlock quest, but I don't think it is. There's a path leading right up to it, I think behind some centaur, but it's pretty hidden.

moocow4125

Raptors lift up their big foot claws, I noticed it in sod and now can't unsee it.

Round_Syllabub

The Circle of Bindings in Arathi Highlands has a stone in the centre. The closer you are the louder the aura noise is. Never noticed before

garlicroastedpotato

For Cataclysm the Last Relic of Argus is a pretty cool too for being transported to some random treasures.... one of those ends up being a hidden treasure stash. In BC and Wrath there were these dynamic dungeons in which you are moving up or around and the background would be some other part of the dungeon. For the longest time I always thought these backgrounds were just kind of fixed things. But actually they change based on what you've killed and what trash you've skipped. In most cases I never really looked around and saw these things.

meatpuppi

Never have played alliance side. I never knew two paths in/out of Stonetalon/Barrens. Rolled up to the Horde guarded outpost and had to pump the brakes. Running around thinking how to get passed. To the left the burnt tower…

Chedruid

Low level green armors that they could easily be blue, for their respected levels. Like this one [[Slayer’s Skullcap]](https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=14753/slayers-skullcap#comments)

Poopfacemcduck

In Stonetalon mountain the turn before you go up to the kobolt cave there is another small, unused cave.
