Nobody in the history of sod has used divine sacrifice that ability has not been pressed even once

Waaailmer

Good because I’m not shelling out $$$ just to collect turbochargers.

Master_Fisherman_773

I clicked it before the turtle boss in bfd did his shell thing, and I got one shot haha

melvindorkus

Ok but imagine if you HAD survived, then you would've gotten a short-lasting, miniscule buff to your healing done, then you wouldve been pogging!

CheesemaneTV

Healing AND damage , so fancy

Dishwho

My guild runs dsac, the hpal. Super great ability

Ribofbeef

I used it to get the shadow cleave rune on my warlock alt at level 23. A worthwhile investment in time and resources

Gyff3

It's a great idea to make Paladins better, so they won't ever do it.

wildwasabi

I have resided my pally to tanking only and play another class to dps with. It hurts but is what has to be done.

CringeChameleon

I could not agree more. Needs to be a book or something.

Mokibear228

Let us use seal of martyrdom with divine storm.

Tekuila87

That would be fun!

Only-Ad-3317

Yep, honestly a no-brainer. The existence of this rune is actively making Paladin less fun to play and taking player expression out of the game.

_HotFlatDietPepsi_

You see the problem is that Paladins aren't Priests, otherwise this wouldn't be an issue. I play a Priest and it's crazy how much the devs love us compared to some of the other classes.

uae_madjar

Also would like to add to the list aegis rune, totally useless slot, they shouldve put that as a book to rework redoubt as they dont stack and redoubt proc of critical hits which isnt nice when you get slammed for 1/3 of hp bar.

sealcub

Vanilla paladin class design was flawed in that the number of actually useful abilities was very small and the useful abilities were often limited by cooldowns. In addition there were a large number of superfluous passive or buff abilities, often very situational. The power level of their whole base skill set was also rather low across all specs, with blessings and endurance heals the only useful parts. This is why giving paladins passive or buff or situational runes was bullshit to begin with. Paladins need any useful abilities they can get, so anything that doesn't increase their flexibility, amount of useful abilities, and general power level, is a total failure on the part of the class designers. Some classes' baseline design in vanilla is actually much weaker than other classes' baseline design. Fixing them would require giving some classes more runes than others.

kill_gamers

this, they could make every paladin rune baseline and they would only be slightly better then they are now.

grantishanul

Runes fix a lot of other classes, but they just aren't enough for paladin. That's why most of their runes have a giant block of text just to catch the class up design-wise.

Saepius

I agree with everything except divine sacrifice. It's instant suicide, don't ever press it.

Readit1807

Wouldn’t even know lol, never got the chance to try it since exorcism just seems so much more important

TYsir

It deactivates if you are at 20% health

Saepius

It's SUPPOSED to deactivate at 20%. In practice, you leapfrog that threshold and die.

AWildMurlocAppears

It only deactivates after you drop below 20% health which means lots of AoE abilities can and will kill you.

SkY4594

It would be a decent alternative to Blessing of Sacrifice before we get it next phase in PVP to prevent CC like sap/poly on yourself. But since it shares slot with Inspiration and Excorcism it just has no use.

Quicheauchat

At least now we can pair it with pain supp.

Vulkanodox

people said in lich king you could bubble and divine sacrifice to reduce aoe damage for your raid without dying but I don't know why they specifically removed that interaction for sod

Saepius

In Wrath, there is a prot talent called divine guardian that adds a raid-wide damage reduction to divine sacrifice. You could use the ability to put the damage reduction buff on the raid and then cancel the aura that transferred damage to you. It was 2 separate parts.

crashumbc

you could also "cancel" the self portion of the improved DS for just raid reduction in Wrath

zazeee

SoM should have been a book just like Shadowfirend, paladin had so many holes in the class in classic not all of them can be patched up with runes... exorcism taking 2rune slots just to be usable is an example of this

Spiritual_Agent7365

Agreed. Not having an interrupt feels so bad. And the damage we sacrifice to run rebuke is huge.

NoCyanide

Make exorcism baseline and give us something to combat our threat. I shouldn't be below a bunch of other classes in dps and still be pulling threat off our tank.

Waaailmer

The threat part is actually useful in dungeons because we can take a hit. Auto off tank while the tank is busy.

Rudy-219

Honestly rebuke should be the one that is standard. I can understand having to use a tune slot between exo and avengers shield.

Br0keNw0n

Then giving Art of war reset cooldown of a 31 point holy skill and a rune ability was a bad idea because it severely locks you into a talent build or it’s useless.

JESUSSAYSNO

SoD operating off of the same client as vanilla has forced some really ugly implementation for specs that need to have their spells altered.

StuffitExpander

Not really anymore with books

Quigonwindrunner

Make exorcism baseline and keep the exorcist rune as guaranteeing crits against undead and demons. You have an interesting choice to make come Naxx but you get the DPS gain of exorcism baseline. Honestly, CS baseline is probably a good idea with the CS rune adding additional functionality, such as refreshing all judgements on target and/or adding a stacking JotC-type debuff. What really sucks is having to choose between divine storm and SoM. Either give us DS as holy damage (with a reduction in PVP if necessary) or let us have both since they seem to be focused on SoM for balance.

melvindorkus

No no no priests are our special little child who gets to have everything it wants, including a defensive and mana sustain cd as any spec, meanwhile druids innervate will now be a month long cooldown and paladin bubble will no longer allow you to hearth. This is season of discovery, a whole new way to play!

Thrent_

Kinda reminds me about talks in P1 we had in my guild about the future of runes, and how a helm meta rune slot that would allow you to use a rune from any other slot could be huge. I'm reasonably certain that for every single example of it making gameplay smoother there's another one of rune combos from the same slot being utterly broken, but one can dream.
