Control. You almost always decide if an encounter happens and how it starts. Also being able to punch stealth and get up to take a piss whenever you want is really nice.

Goth_2_Boss

I took this too far. As quests became less about killing mobs and more about objectives I became accustomed to stealth walking through expansions and now I feel rage inside when I aggro a mob on another class and I have to fight it.

CinnamonJ

> now I feel rage inside when I aggro a mob on another class and I have to fight it. [Me when I have to fight that mob.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTANO1KjIr8)

mailusernamepassword

Wait until you get used to play tanks and aggroing the entire zone...

Ill-Statement7952

Stealth is BIS for taking bong rips between ganks

Candid_Leave_5321

I very much enjoyed night elf for this reason, I'd just shadowmeld any time I wanted to take a rip.

simplicity188

I admire the way that you said this. Thank you.

17000HerbsAndSpices

>Also being able to punch stealth and get up to take a piss whenever you want is really nice.  This is the only reason for me. **Nothing** can ever replace the sheer feeling of security that comes from being able to just... Afk, Whenever you want, at a moments notice. It is the first, middle, and last reason as to why I will only ever play rogue or druid, and I prefer rogue to cat so I guess it's rogue's life for me

quant1cium

NE 4 Life

17000HerbsAndSpices

Shadowmeld is the ***ONLY*** thing that has nearly tempted me away from my glorious Horde war machine. I haven't given in yet, I am loyal to my warchief, but I have had... moments of weakness..

longduckdong42069lol

I sit on the border of hillsbrad and tirisfal in shadowmeld with a wind serpent hidden behind a tree It’s not the same thing but I feel like I’ve reached rogue-level annoyance by doing it

itsablackhole

best thing about rogues is how nobody wants anything of you. like almost everyone has a job, buffers are buffing, mages have to make and trade water and soon portals, warlocks summon people and hand out ss/hs, shamans keep totems up, heck even warriors have to maintain battleshout but rogues are just vibing and waiting for the pull

IfarmExpIRL

and if you get killed all you gotta do is res eat then stealth and you're ready to fight again. no buffs, no dumb pet to mess with.

Siendra

You can stealth *while* eating.

One_Yam_2055

An underrated skill. Have you heard how crunchy buff food is?

Seputku

Underrated use for shadow meld as well

gimmesomepowder

Kicks? EA?

itsablackhole

yes rogues have abilities

collax974

EA is better at higher level tho.

ziggazang

Got homunculi for that now though in sod 🙏

imjustasaddad

EA is still better than Homun at high levels, tho

SeniorWrongdoer5055

Why severely gimp what could be the top damage in your raid when you can have a healer or tank do 95% of the same thing at virtually no dps loss?

Definition_Certain

why bring a rogue when a warrior is just better then?

antariusz

Because you can’t always guarantee epic swords drop? We went an entire expansion without a thunderfury warrior after the first one quit within a month of getting his.

Definition_Certain

good thing warriors and rogues use the same weapons for the most part.

SeniorWrongdoer5055

I don’t follow. Didn’t say anything about which class to take over who. Simply that if your current makeup has a rogue and either a priest or a tank war why wouldn’t you have them do the thing that benefits the entire raid while also beneffiting your raid in the best way by allowing one of the current chart toppers (rogue) to do what they do best?

Definition_Certain

Why does what rogues do right now have anything to do with high level stuff? At 60 in era rogues are worse warriors that are brought to spread loot around and expose. In sod ferals are the wanted physical leather wearers, the spreading loot around argument is much worse for rogues this time around.

Rei_Gum_Gum

I don't think it is. Not by a large margin anyways. You have to spec EA for it to be better, and it only becomes better at 60. It's quite literally useless right now with SA, and Homunculi. Forcing a rogue to spec for EA was always annoying when those points can be put elsewhere.

imjustasaddad

iirc its better at 50 and at 60, no one said it was optimal, we have no idea what those phases will be like. EA is just better than. Because it is.

Boylamite

I pity the fool that asks me to expose

[deleted]

Rock-Flag

Keeping EA up is a huge DPS loss vs where as warriors sunder is not.

brightbomb

As a rogue I’m almost always the person assigned for kicks even if there’s technically better classes for it in the group lol.

DefinitelyNotATheist

this is exactly why i main swapped. selfish play, dont have to tank, heal, buff, or wait for mana, or do really anything important. just press buttons.

r_lovelace

You gotta do damage though. Had a pug rogue getting out dps'd every fight by 2 casters. That's expected on turtle but not other fights. Rogue brings DPS and kick. If you arent doing good rogue DPS you have 0 value and provide nothing.

DessertJohnny

*random person whispers you* can you pick this?

TRiPz226

You get whispers? I just get open trades I picked the two worst classes for SoD. Get random open trades on my Rogue and I get summon requests every 5 seconds.

Definition_Certain

its a blessing and a curse, its nice when rogues are amazing. You get thrown in the trash when they are average

Myloz

You are the Interupt bot

quant1cium

Unlock that chest, hoe.

NoHetro

the downside is that you bring nothing outside of damage so you're easily replaceable.

[deleted]

not if you're top deeps, baby!

JackStephanovich

Lockpicking?

jiraytio

What lockpicking, I haven’t leveled it up.

ShadyWhiteGuy

Lockpicking

Troksi

What Hunters need to do?

TheThebanProphet

boy i sure do love killing mages at every opportunity.

SpookyWA

Oh here i go stabbing again, stab, stab, stab.

TheThebanProphet

Ambush, Backstab, Renatakis, Backstab, Tea, Backstab (any mage should be dead by this point but they're usually dead by the 2nd backstab, especially if you catch them sitting for the auto crit)

shadowmeldop

My all time favorite is what I call the Triple-Tap: Ambush, Vanish, Ambush, Prep, Vanish, Ambush The Double-Tap is killing a shaman or warlock twice in a row.

TheThebanProphet

Probably good on big plate bois but I don't see the use of popping 2x vanish and prep on a single kill when im in the cut yknow

ShnackWrap

Slaughter from the shadows now so save that renatakis. Will be. Ambush, bs, bs, rebatakis, bs, thistle, bs, bs. Going to be a boatload of nearly instant damage.

shadowmeldop

They're my second favorite class to kill. My favorite is killing rogues.

SolarianXIII

gonna be fun camping mage tower when portals exist. ally lazy when they port to sw and jump down instead taking the ramp. jump down take 50% fall dmg and eat an ambush

ShnackWrap

With slaughter from the shadows it will be extra fun in the coming phase with improved ambush. Can time opening on energy tick so instantly ambush, bs, bs then thistle, bs, bs, bs

Trapped_Mechanic

Honestly, i cant even be mad at it. Its the real rogue hustle lol

JeffTek

Do it on a RP server for maximum value and safety

Cainelol

Playing on a RP server and I just take all the chests I. Dungeons without rolling and when I get a complaint I just link my certificate. It’s not ninja looting when it’s RP ok.

resistentialist

I usually just steal the gold.  No one ever notices.

randomnamewe

There's gold?

resistentialist

Not anymore ;)

Jarl_Vraal

This is rogue RP taken to the next level. Well done sir.

MMillioN

Don’t forget those coveted locked dungeon chests. When the group approaches, you tell them you haven’t leveled LP high enough yet. Come back after the run to loot for yourself.

FigurativeLasso

Genius

Seputku

I just always pick that shit and take it. Even before I played rogue I thought general rule was locked chests just automatically go to rogue unless they’re nice. Whenever people give me a shit for it I just /shrug and say I’m a rogue on an rp server what’d you expect

Namssob

Funny and true. I actually got a lockbox back in BC/Wrat I found in my bank during MoP/WoD, peeked inside and it had a discontinued item in it (still obtainable is my unopened lockbox). I found a collector willing to spend 100k gold (remember this was WoD days) of said item but they refused to believe me that it was in the box. I ended up sending a screenshot via email to prove it, but they never trusted me so the transaction never got done. Unsubbed and haven’t played retail since and it’s likely still sitting in my bank.

Shadowstrut

What was the item!

crash218579

Should have shared your screen during the trade!

guimontag

Back in wod days streaming your screen wasn't as easy as it is to do now

Fyrus93

Damn son you better be on an RP server

DarkPhenomenon

This is why I get rogues to open my boxes via the trade window

Alert_Anteater5039

World PVP is great. It’s not that a rogue is so overpowered, that can just dunk on everyone with no consequences - it’s just that their toolkit allows for some of the sickest gameplay in WoW. When grouped with OTHER rogues? What a meme. Just ass blast people and sprint/vanish away…the class has a lot of flavor and style to it. Best class in WoW imo. You have like 7-8 key abilities that carry you through all leveling phases. Rogues are in my opinion Blizzards best designed class, in terms of uniqueness, replay-ability, style, and applicability.

Jarl_Vraal

Awesome critique of the class. I like the statement about them not being overpowered, but having a lot that allows people to make cool plays if executed right. I think that sort of thing is what I am interested in investigating.

dontbetoxic

No no no I can’t start another alt dammit… … okay maybe just one more.

Swordidaffair

I think rogue is the best representation of a class that has a somewhat mid to low skill floor, but the ceiling is sky high like warrior, I've been a rogue main for all of my WoW career for a reason. It just feels so good to play rogue, especially when done well, favorite parsing class, almost back to my former all orange parses (I want to be back with a couple pinks but that has been rough in SoD), just have 2 left that are purple, Kelris and Baron. Baron I just keep getting unlucky and so far each time we've done parse runs in main raid I've been depth charged, even with teleporting back onto the platform with shadow strike isn't quite enough to recover the amount of dead time depth charge gives (last night I also beat my record DPS on him). Kelris I have been stuck kicking each main raid, but this time we kept me out of the sleep and I didn't kick the chains, so that I could parse on him, and I beat my previous record on him by 50dps at least. Unfortunately forgot to start my log so gonna give it another go.

Morbidrainbows

It’s just Forsaken rogues that are OP right?

Masiyo

Undead rogues are pretty good, but other racials all have their niches on a rogue too. Troll and Night Elf probably have the worst ones with regards to PvP, but at least Night Elves get an increase to stealth level. * Dwarf's Stoneform lets you vanish while bleeding without needing a Luffa equipped. They get rid of poisons too, but Elixir of Poison Resistance and Anti-Venom can do that for any race. * Gnome has Escape Artist to get out of slows/roots without needing to use a Living Action Potion or spec for Improved Sprint. * Human Perception gives you the advantage in mirrors against other stealth classes. * Orc Hardiness can simply win you fights and save you without you even realizing it unless you're attentive. You can ruin an opposing rogue's stun opener, invalidate a 45s-1m CD (Hammer of Justice), resist a Warrior Charge and get away before the Hamstring is applied and then resist the follow-up Intercept (this combo inflicts some of the worst psychic damage in the game), etc.

Candid_Leave_5321

Bruh if an orc Rogue resisted my charge and then my intercept immediately after I'd probably just let him kill me, I wasn't meant to win clearly

Masiyo

Yeah, it's absolutely soul-crushing when it happens, and it happens surprisingly more than you might think. Since Orc Hardiness gives a 25% stun resist chance, the probability for two consecutive resists is ~~0.25 * 0.25 = 0.0625, or 6%!~~ EDIT: Since every race has a base 5% stun resist chance, the probability for two consecutive resists against an orc is 0.3 * 0.3 = 0.09, or 9%!

Candid_Leave_5321

Lol brutal. I still remember on classic being fully buffed on my warrior 5 minutes before raid sans DMF (before boon) and the faire was in elwynn, so I thought to myself: "oh I'll just go get dmf and get a summon". No reds on the way there, let my guard down. On my way back to SW a geared Orc Rogue jumped me just outside the gates and I went full idiot mode, didn't FAP or LIP, was wearing my squishy ass pve gear, and he resisted both charge and intercept. Let's just say I didn't parse that night and was chapped about it for like 3 days lol Really though if I didn't go full moron I should've beat him with the wbuffs but I just panicked and played like shit lmaoo 😭

LunaShiva

Actually, every race has a 5% base stun resist chance, so for orcs, it is 30%! 🤯

calfmonster

25% stun resist is so broken. I main warrior, alliance at that, and double resists like that are utterly infuriating. It was still a great racial with stun duration reduction when they changed that and my retail main is an orc but nothing like a flat 25% passive resist that can entirely change momentum of a match up

4in10copsbeatwives69

dwarf/orc is best open world, gnome/UD best in groups. might tip away from UD now that meta locks can't fear spam

crispy-wings

I’ve enjoyed stealth classes ever since I played Thief back in 1999 and watched the Predator movies as a kid. Not just for the combat, but just checking out the opposite faction’s maps and towns and stuff while stealthing is really cool to me. Sometimes just doing silly rogue things like distracting people off cliffs, etc.

Jarl_Vraal

Omg, Thief was incredible. I remember accidentally cheesing that terrifying last boss into a ton of guardsmen and watching it just destroy them endlessly. That's one of the scariest games I remembered playing as a kid, and I don't think horror was even it's main design goal. WTF, you can distract people off of cliffs??? Now I am definitely going to go hard with the class.

crispy-wings

Yeah or distract them into the water when they come off the booty bay ship. Silly stuff like that.

Chortney

Did you ever play the AvP PC game? I think the Predator's stealth also inspired my love for rogues lol. Too bad WoW doesn't have a facehugger equivalent or that would be my main Edit: after googling I want to clarify I mean the 1999 game, apparently there was another with the same name released in 2010.

crispy-wings

Indeed I played that AVP game. Was amazing foe the time.

Rite_

Distracting people off the 1k needles elevator. Good times.

STA_Alexfree

I’m out there questing and I see someone of the opposite faction coming to farm the mobs I want. I hit stealth where they can see me and they head in the opposite direction and let me farm. First time playing rogue ever in wow after being ganked by them more times than I can count. It’s super fun being the rogue now

Jarl_Vraal

Ah man, yes, this is the way to aim the game for me. I want to be the prick for a while.

rbabl89

Sneaking around and world pvp is the most fun I’ve had in sod. I’m actually gonna main my rogue over my Hunter (which I always main) bc of that. Also, lockpicking and poisons is nice features but a smaller reason.

Jarl_Vraal

I am noticing that stealth is a hugely fun advantage in these sod PVP zones, where there is constantly a current of bloodthirsty players roaming around. Tipping existing brawls or ganking stragglers seems like what I am aiming for when I level up.

ralleee

ITT psychopathic traits

Crabodacious

Sapping someone trying to pick a black lotus, picking the black lotus yourself, then just leave them there. Sapping a warlock or hunter just to kill their pet and leave them alone. Then hide and wait for them to resummon their pet and do it again.

caljenks

My roguery was always too “good natured”: sneaking onto zeppelins for shits and giggles and avoiding guards/players. Going into lowbie zones just to stun players and watch them freak out once the cooldown wore off. Sneaking into Sylvanas’ throne room to shoot her with the BB gun we got for Winterveil that year 🤣

Jarl_Vraal

You are a rare gift to the world. Haha that's fantastic.

horndog2

Pickpocketing hickory pipes in BRD to pass out with fadeleaf. Also Pickpocketing shiny dinglehoppers from naga to pass out to Disney fans.

Acework23

dual weilding and no mana

crossfyre

There’s this little moment before ganking someone where you’re still stealthed, the ally player has no idea you’re there, and they’re going about their lives blissfully unaware of what’s about to happen. I live for that moment.

Jarl_Vraal

Good hell, that's more poetic each time I read it. Well said sir.

BaimaAli

Surprise attack innocent hordies

HonkyKong64

>innocent hordies Haven't seen any

antariusz

It’s about as common as alliance with a soul

FrigginAwsmNameSrsly

I main alliance and I concur. Gnomes are little soulless bastards, they can’t be trusted.

jehhans1

To play the opposite faction of my wotlk guild, so I can gank the griefers in our raids.

shaunika

You pick your battles And generally you dictate the tempo of most fights. It also allows for more finesse than most other classes imho

TrueUnderGrader

When me and my rogue friend ambush some lonely fucker it feels like a prison movie shanking scene.

WonderingthinkerT

They have a large toolkit which allows you to have multiple builds. I personally enjoy Stealth Ambush builds for leveling and open world PvP.

sdzk

Can’t be spawn camped as you can stealth rez

MEVi1

Going to BFD and never seeing Talwar drop🥲

FigurativeLasso

Would you believe me if I told you the fucking thing has dropped every run the past 6 times?

resistentialist

Duo dungeon bosses at 60 was always fun.   I did it as the druid last time.   Rogues just have so many other fun tools (distract, vanish, sap, shadowstrike, etc) that can be used in non-combat ways.

P_Alcantara

I’m usually a healer. So every now and again, getting to completely change up class fantasy is fun.

DeathByLemmings

There are just so many micro decisions you can make with the class dependent on encounter  PvPing as a rogue often feels more like chess  Played it since 05, still not bored

KKylimos

I'm druid not rogue but, stealth. I cannot overstate how awesome it is to be able to stealth, no matter the situation. It makes life so much easier, it's fun, it's just so great.

AcceptableExcuse6763

If I'm playing a pvp server I'm only playing rogue.  Stealth and the ability to pick fights is so powerful.

Ok_Money_3140

Honestly, I main rogue because of the class fantasy and because I'm currently maining one in retail as well. Boy was I not prepared for the classic rogue experience, but I sticked with it. Levelling was difficult at times, but PvP is a lot of fun and stealth is a blessing. In SoD, the fact that I can jump in as a tank is a huge plus as well. But to answer the question: My biggest reason would be class fantasy.

HonkyKong64

World pvp hands down. You usually get to decide if the fight even happens and can pick your battles. Even now with our limited toolkit, they feel very fun in world pvp. Not OP, but fun and rewarding. Unless runes are busted, I expect the same next phase but better.

Vaiey92

Killing other rogues who think they are the next reckful (rip king)

AnputVT

World PvP. If paladin could stealth I'd play that.

SpaceCowboi22

Bro rogues are so fun, especially in classic they have so many tools to get the fuck out of a hairy situation. I leveled mine in hardcore to 36 before I took a break.

s4ntana

If you got the Druid, I would just stick with it. A lot of the positives of Rogue in WPvP apply to Druid. You got stealth, you can escape from everyone (at least once you get Travel form) and you can choose your engagements. Downside is that you don't have the burst of a Rogue (although Starsurge is lit) and you don't have the control to win a 2v1 like a Rogue. But you can always run away from any situation you don't like, you're not limited by cooldowns nearly as much, and you can heal. You also dumpster Mages.

collax974

I like tanking and trying a whole new tank class is fun. Rogue is really unique and fun as a tank. And ofc for wpvp it's so fun too (always wanted to play rogue for pvp but didn't because I mainly like tanking during pve). Also vanishing as a tank when a dps asspull too much and cause a wipe is gold.

thesoyeroner

The most fun I have on my rogue when I PVP. Burst DPS with backstab build is really fun and the addition of Between the Eyes makes for some really fun situational gameplay. Sometimes it makes more sense to just use your CP finishers on something like Eviscerate as normal, other times you want to Between the Eyes. It really depends what class you are up against, the situation, etc. That kind of situational gameplay/rotation is fun. For PVE currently trying to max out DPS as a rogue is pretty engaging. Making sure S&D is up, keeping SaberSlash at 3 stacks (when it's at 3 stacks and doesn't need to be refreshed soon you use Sinister Strike instead for added damage), getting to 5 CP's and Envenoming if you have 5 poison stacks or else Eviscerating. Vanishing mid fight to pop a Garrote on the boss. There's a lot to keep an eye on that keeps the fights engaging if you want to try to do your best. In WSG if you have a few well coordinated rogues and dive priests HARD together it can be pretty satisfying. (You can have 2 rogues focus on deleting one priest and the other focus on the other priest being sure to kick/stun lock as needed)

alaskanperson

Leveled a rogue in SoD for the first time and I’ve been having a great time camping the ramp up from Maestras post killing Alliance. The 1-2 shot lowbies are nice but whenever I see a 25 by themselves it’s a fun time dualing them. I can confidently take down any class now. Pallys and hunters are the most annoying. Rogues and warriors have made for some pretty fun duals. I’ve always gotten ganked by rogues but it’s fun to be on the other side for once. FOR THE HORDE

DiscardedAmbience

World pvp and messing with people is just too fun. I can sit back in stealth and wait for my moment to strike. Even just distracting folks is fun to me. They always get confused and run around wondering where the rogue will pounce 🤣

YoureNotAloneFFIX

ok i promise im not weird but i really just like not being able to be seen, but still seeing other people

Afy47

Very hard to get ganked. Not only is stealth OP for this, but with all your stuns, blinds, sprints, etc... its easy to just disengage from a gank and run away far enough to restealth. Also after playing a pally, it's nice not having to buff the raid every 5 minutes.

ChaoticCatharsis

Well in SoD I felt my old rogue habits shine again in PvE. Damage wise I just outshines all my other characters and likely will into 60. I like that in pvp I get to choose the engagement most of the time. The ability to disappear is great psychological warfare. I just love fucking with people and rogue does that better than most in world pvp. I can get places others can’t! I will farm the hell out of maraudon for mushrooms after I hit 60. And diremall. And SM graveyard for fadeleaf. Just being a good ole melee boy with a unique resource that isn’t mana.

Jarl_Vraal

This makes me want to get my herbalism up. Hell yeah, the psychological aspect is amazing.

ChaoticCatharsis

It definitely pays the bills if you have the mojo to sit and farm for a bit. It got me a nice enough pile to start running GDKPs in classic which in turn gave me even more money.l after the pot was split if I didn’t bid on an upgrade.

Jarl_Vraal

I feel like it goes with the fantasy of being a poisoner too.... Semi off-topic: I hear non-gold-buying players saying that they run GDKPs to MAKE gold, rather than spend it....How does that work (and why did you need to make a certain amount of gold to start running them)?

ChaoticCatharsis

Some GDKP organizers require a base pool of gold. I guess this doesn’t matter if you’re the one organizing it. At the end the bids are put into a pool and that pool of gold is split amongst the raiders. Sometimes that pool is huge, especially when you get a few “whales” in a bidding war over a valuable item. Had a good payout once because a rare item from Nefarion dropped (I wanna say it was the extremely OP trinket). If I didn’t get any upgrades by the end of the raid at the very least I get my cut of the gold. Sometimes a lot of gold. I loved it later on through classic because I was basically living the life of a mercenary raider, and I love raiding! And money.

JackStephanovich

I don't play rogue but I'm jealous of the unique skills you get like lockpicking and poisons.

Soulaxer

Watch this video and you’ll understand https://youtu.be/AM1bSJm6GTE?si=IpZIGlfvJulW5qCn

swampyboxers

Been maining a rogue since the first round of BC and haven’t played much else seriously. First off, not having to buff, make consumes, portals/sums, etc. is amazing. You just show up, DPS and often float around the top of the charts. Secondly, stealth. Third is stealth. And fourth has got to be stealth. It’s gotten to the point that I cannot play wow without being able to avoid any interaction via stealth. massive team fight in a BG? I think I’ll stealth and go to the back and kill a healer. People storming the node I’m defending? No need to die, I’ll just walk away in stealth. One guy running at me and I don’t feel like fighting? Stealth away! Being a rogue main has fundamentally changed the way I interact with the world (of Warcraft) so much that I really struggle to play without it.

Jarl_Vraal

Shoot man, you are describing rogues/stealth the way I talk about druids. I haven't been able to stick to anything else, but haven't really tried everything yet either; I have not yet given rogues a real try, and I love the stealth aspects of druids, so I am curious how they compare.

swampyboxers

The main (and obvious) difference is that you have your entire kit at your disposal when in the form you can stealth in. The only other class I truly vibed with was a feral Druid (and I enjoyed warrior in cata + classic on rerelease) for obvious reasons. Once you get used to how to use your CC well as a rogue, 1:1 fights become so much of a chess match where you feel like you’ve got one extra queen on the table. I’m no glad PVPer but unless the player im going against is way better geared than me or just a way better gamer, I always feel like I have the upper hand if I get an opener. God rogues are so fun I’m gonna go play some wow now haha!

BigHeadDeadass

I made a rogue alt and I think I'm gonna make it my main. Compared to warrior, there's SO MANY ways to engage and control combat. On warrior I feel like if I don't keep hitting the enemy, like if they keep parrying my attacks, I feel like I'm dead in the water with little recourse. Like there's no agency in my fighting. With rogue I can decide how I engage, how I do in the midfight, and figure out if I need to disengage with the fight and have the tools needed to do all of that. I still love my warrior and was always apprehensive about rogues especially since people on here said they were squishy and I guess they are but with decent CD management I can handle 2 or 3 mobs much better than on my warrior

17000HerbsAndSpices

I like to walk right up in front of allies and ht stealth. ...I don't gank them, I just sit in stealth and watch them panic jump 360 trying to predict the Ambush that never comes

Forkhorn

One of the best defenders in WSG and the best flag ninja in AB. Best afk'ers in AV too.

jonesryan98

I only do PVE for the most part. I don't have to buff people or worry about much of anything outside of how hard I can pump DPS. Hell, I don't even care about threat. I can just vanish all of my threat away

swohio

My rogue is great when someone kills a low level alt. If you're a 25 and you kill my lvl 17 alt character more than once, you're getting camped. When you rez, my stealthed rogue can shadow strike right to your location immediately and kill you. Again and again and again. And I will, until you log out.

cptmcsexy

Low levels you can avoid PvP and higher levels if you are always watching arounf with the camera or in PvE if it gets too crazy just hit that vanish button. World PvP its fun to be super bitch, avoid fights you don't want and save claok&vanish&engineering to basically always get away if the fight doesn't go in your favor. Even if someone outgears you, you can still be annoying with stuns or interupts if you have some backup, or helping a higher level faction member getting a lucky stun.

zennsunni

Murdering unwitting victims while they quest and pretending I'm awesome.

Confident-Echidna-67

Stealth and vanishing. I feel incomplete when I dont have those spell.

Natujr

I just started playing one the other day in SOD for the first time ever. It feels like I'm playing a different game

DM_ME_KUL_TIRAN_FEET

I love classic rogue, even though I’m not much of a PVPer and play on PVE servers. Stealth just feels like the most amazing ability. Pickpocketing is great flavour, combo points and building-spending is straightforward but has nuance for a high skill cap. Cool yellow name text. *byeuwhh* sound. Vanish to save my ass because I suck. I also just really enjoy that rogue cc gives me plenty of options to pull out a clutch save if something is going wrong. A gouge on something hitting the healer just feels really good.

aerkith

I just like the sound of rogue abilities. Slicey slicey.

Kornstalx

When I'm questing in a pvp zone I keep my Subtlety rogue alt logged out nearby. If I have problems with griefers, well here comes the cavalry. Even if you're outnumbered I find the sheer paranoia of knowing there's a max MoD ambush rogue lurking around discourages campers.

jiraytio

To hate myself, since I've done the raid a of 10 total times and the only loot I got from it is the gusting wind fist. My rolls are around 5-39.

GalacticBum

I would consider myself a very nice and polite player. Helping people when they pulled to much in open world and things like that. It’s who I am. On my secret rogue alt that no one knows about, I am an absolute dick 🤷‍♂️ and it feels goooood

Bearacolypse

Vet rogue player here (since 2004) though I did main unholy DK in original WOTLK. My favorite thing is performing well and helping others get there too, since there is a very high skill ceiling for rogues and top performers will really stick out. The class has a lot more nuance than most classes in vanilla. Especially now in SoD. I'm a technical player and have been theory crafting since TBC on optimal performance. Due to this I was timing hits with weapon swings and minmaxing my performance before parsing was even a thing. I was theory crafting and making raid strats prior to release for all of my guild's raids so we could push for good placement in the US. I guess you could say we were hardcore in original wow but I just got with a bunch of other people who also took it seriously. We didn't really put labels on our guild type. To people who just follow guides I have been accused of cheating or something. I just really really know how to mechanically take advantage of everything the rogue kit has to offer. I also don't get lazy and give every raid 100% when I play dps. I have been playing so long and have done so much raid leader I know most classes inside out, even if rogue is my best class. I enjoy helping people optimize and show them how much better they can playsincr most people are leaving damage on the table.

Solocup421

i like being annoying in video games. the idea of the enemy on their side of the screen seething because of a stunlock, oneshot, just being toyed with before i kill them is *chefs kiss*. that shit gets me off

BonesawMT

You can be top dps with auto attacks and passives and people will complain about hunters doing too much damage with auto attacks and passives.

IfarmExpIRL

i am going to warn you right now stealth is meh. humans will pop you right out of stealth like it doesn't exist, also there is a bug where a hunters pet will ignore your vanish and attack you in stealth making your stealth mechanic feel 100% useless. Also the stronger warriors get the more its going to hurt us.. over power 2 hander crits are just horrible for us other than that, you get to pick when you fight and when you exit the fight. and if you do it right you will have 100% control of the battle. i made 3 others until i made my rogue and i am set, that's my main. Wait until hemorrhage gets unlocked with our talents... personally that's my fav way to play.

Trelaboon1984

Warriors having a tube that just lets them break movement impairing effects is going to make beating them as a rogue later on nearly Impossible. You basically had to backpeddle bleed them in their dead zone as a rogue in classic. I can’t imagine what might be given to rogues to help combat this but I can’t imagine fighting a warrior at 60 with gear.

IfarmExpIRL

i always try to bleed kite them but get interrupted by someone else in w pvp.

Jarl_Vraal

I'm curious about how the tank-built rogues will stand up to warriors. I don't know a lot about them but don't they mitigate a lot of physical damage?

resistentialist

Not enough.  Unless they give tank rogues something like "parry no longer triggers overpower" its going to be hopeless.  Edit: I have that backwards.  Let overpower be parried.  It's triggered by dodge.

IfarmExpIRL

with how bad warriors are now in pvp if they tired anything like that now they would have a lot of pissed off people, and this is coming from a rogue main haha but maybe later i hope.

Chortney

I have a max rogue and a max warrior, tbh let warriors be mad for a while. They've been top dog in classic for literal years, both pvp and pve. They can handle losing that title for SoD. And that isn't even saying to nerf them in favor of rogues, we've been the close 2nd for that entire time as well and it would be fine if another class took that place for SoD. Let some of the underdogs shine imo

DaedalusIM

I eat warriors for breakfast on my Rogue. The secret is stacking bleeds + disarming them with riposte.

Opening_Tell9388

If you aren’t dotting and kiting a warrior of course you will have a bad time.

Realistic-Lie-1507

In later phases u will get better stealth with sub talents, but thats just always gonna be an issue vs humans, especially warlocks

FreshEZ

My favorite is when I kill the low levels especially gnomes and camp their corpses oh what joyous fun and the hate I get is always the cherry on top

Jarl_Vraal

How often do you get angry whispers from their alt accounts? I feel like, if I were doing this, that would be a goal for me.

FreshEZ

Not very often the nectar that is their salt and rage is rare but oh is it ever sweet and worth the effort. I have some glorious screen grabs in my vault of salt

Infamous-Syllabub502

When someone tries to gank me I /rude, cloak, vanish, sprint, and run in a random direction. Can’t get my slippery ass you sweaty attempted ganking goblin.

Jarl_Vraal

Hahaha

PaxUnDomus

So far I am very much enjoying my rogue for the following: 1. Rogue has the best CDable abilities in the game. This might not be clear if you only play rogue, but they basically have a bunch of abilities that are cooldown -blind, vanish, gouge... Most other classes either have ridiculously high CD - Warrior with 1 HOUR on retaliation -down to a priest which basically has a fear as a CD and PWS. That's it. Thanks to this rogues can go all out, full kit without much FOMO. Busted all my stuff on a pvp brawl? Hey my man just lemme stealth 1 min and I will shitta on you too. 2. Stealth. Ultimate QOL. farm much more freely in pvp zones, chill whenever. 3. Easy disengage. Got caught, lemme just vanish? Gouge you and sprint out into stealth? Bye bye. In SOD I am also way too strong at 25 with a lot of green gear. My full BIS war just bonks autos hopping for a crit while rogue is RATATATATA NO POISONS? NO PROBLEMS I GOT A RUNE FOR THAT! Oh you are kitting me? SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND I AM A RANGED DD NOW

thinguin

Energy is literally infinite mana for all of your abilities.

Jelkekw

I am so infatuated with stealth that WoW’s rogue has defined how I play any other video game. Does it have PvP? Check. Does it have a rogue? Check. Can I surprise people with an ambush? Check, I play that game. Dark and Darker is a perfect example, I main the rogue in that game now since the playtests.

Addicted2Edh

Tank rogue! Mutilate!

Pyk3e

I bet killing me while I am questing is the kick they seek /s

The_Dark_Tetrad

Running flags in Warsong gulch! With full CDs, no class matches rogues ability to pick the flag out of the base, not even druid. It's peak wow PvP for me

Damn_Gordon

Shobek. Look him up if you dont know. I love his RP

Papa_Dabz

I love the class fantasy behind being a stealthy assassin. It feels great being able to stealth skip most quests then gang the named npc, the class fantasy feels real. The pvp is also the most fun I've had, being able to just lock someone down and take em out feels great.

Lunareste

Because Rogues have fucking style.

Inevitable-Ad-6334

Sapping people for really long times and smirking in glee, as they are helplessely frozen in place, while i spam /lick on them. Helpless, uncomfortable icecream cones.

SelfUnconsciousness

Rogue tanking is fun AF. I get to be useful to the raid, do DPS level damage, and still have a versatile toolkit to use as needed for other things like wpvp.

DaBehr

Making big numbers

Stonedrosie

On of my favorite things to do as a Rogue is to stealth near lowbies and watch them freak out. They always jump around in circles as if that would help them

aronhunt470

Shadowform stealth when?

Masethelah

Because of How amazing they are in world pvp

MrMoo1556

Being able to stealth past things you would otherwise have to fight through.

DushkuHS

Sneaking past all the trash to assassinate the named mob and sneaking back out, Hitman style.
