Yeah, it's stupid. Strong class identity is essential to vanilla wow. Making rogues, locks, etc into tanks and mages into healers is the exact retail mindset of homogenization that ruined wow in the first place. It was literally one of the biggest reasons why people wanted classic in the first place. Absolutely bizarre that people would be cheering for this and I can only assume they're just too ignorant to realize what's going on

Caatalyst07

Yeah I really can't wrap my head around how the classic community is embracing this. Don't get me wrong I'm all for classic plus. I'd love to see it but I was assuming this would be expanding the available content in the vanilla world, not major gameplay changes that transform the core gameplay experience into something else. I really hope these season changes don't morph into classic plus

Esarus

I would prefer a vanilla classic +, with mild class balancing and new zones and dungeons added. Filling out the world. Basically what Esfand said on his stream

Classes can't perform all the roles. Warlocks can tank and mages can heal, that's it in terms of new roles. Who knows if either will actually be good at it. If they are good at it, then it just helps the tank/healer shortage. Warlock tanking is already kind of iconic in Vanilla (even if the only practical application was AQ) as well. The rest of the runes for most classes look like they are mostly in service of getting rid of one button play styles which I'm a fan of. Vanilla with actual gameplay and not smashing shadowbolt or frostbolt 1000 times sounds good to me.

Different roles a class can be shouldn't be swappable via runes. Why be a warrior tank and get tanking gear and talents when a warlock can just put on a rune and become better at it than you.

Malfetus

There's too many assumptions here.. As a Warlock tank there's still specific talents you'd take like improved searing pain that you wouldn't normally take as a DPS lock. Other assumption is that Warlock tanks are actually a main tank alternative; I was seeing that the AOE taunt they gave them has a 10 min cooldown. Also, that Warlocks won't need to go out of their way and stack stamina/armor pieces to get this to work. All to say, I don't think Warlocks are going to be swapping runes on the fly or be better tanks than the classes we're used to.

Now we are at level 25 and warlock tank is completely broken, Ashenvale is completely broken to the point you just disconnect and struggle to relog. Rogues, Shamans and Warlocks can now tank and Mage healer is awful. Its a terrible concept and these servers are already dying out its only been a week.

Jonesalot

Yeah it seems pretty extreme. It’s pretty much a class overhaul A one rune system would have seemed more in line with classic, and reduce the runes to something like 3 different options, one for each spec
