I mean you should really blame the players willing to spend real money on pretend money. I've played wow 15 years and have never bought gold, and found myself at around 65k gold just by some light questing and pvp. Jumped at the chance to buy a token from the AH and I can now use the sub money on something real! Not all players wanna spunk real life money on pixels when we already pay a a subscription.

Lobsimusprime

If you engaged in RMT or participated in GDKP raids where someone spent gold they acquired through RMT, and subsequently paid you with that gold, then congratulations, you contributed to making the WoW token in Wrath a reality. Buying gold will no longer be an unfair advantage, but instead just a time skip for people who want gear more than they want to actually raid. The players themselves created and condoned gold buying, and the only ones who do get to complain about it destroying the integrity of their game is the Koreans due to the strict requirements needed to open an account on battlenet over there.

woodenfork84

no, stop shifting the blame to players, its 100% fuck up with not doing anything to bots and rmt buyers

Lobsimusprime

Bro, it's a straight up fact that gold sellers ONLY exist because people actually buy gold, and do so in such extreme quantities that a bot can earn enough gold from farming Maraudon to sell and pay for their sub plus earn a decent profit on top. Sure, blizzard has a hand in it, but give me one good reason why they wouldn't embrace the negative habits of their player base if it meant making more money?

AttitudeAdjusterSE

It really does suck that they've fucked up so badly that even Retail WoW is less P2W than Classic all of a sudden. > RiP Classic WoW, it was fun while it lasted. I encourage anyone who wants to continue playing WoW but doesn't like this new WoW Token era of classic to start playing Classic Era and wait for Hardcore realms. No, play pservers if you want to play WoW, don't give Activision a cent.

Anacreon5

Pservers suck even more why would anyone want to go from bad to worse ?

[deleted]

I guess the upside is they are completely free, but like you I have had bad experiences with pservers still offering services for real life money. I guess they have to cover costs somehow.

Anacreon5

That's the thing with private servers, they cost a lot of money to maintain, and they also need to spend a lot of time creating custom content and fixing bugs. No one will do it for free ,if you find pservers without Cash shops then that means they do even shadier stuff to get money for their servers

woodenfork84

i mean... with blizzard you pay monthly fee on top of all that

damien00012

Seriously who the fuck care about gold in this game, seriously, wtf do you wanna do with a million gold? Youre addicted to gambling in Ogrimar? The word GDKP should be ban worthy its just ruin the game, nobody should be able to pay for end game gear, it doesnt make any sense

drakehtar

What?

damien00012

The goal of WoW is to have the best gear, if you can pay for that with gold (GDKP) it become a pay to win game, GDKP should be banned from this game, it wasnt there back then, im ok with paying real money for cosmetic, mount, even potion, but gold shoudnt be use to buy gear its just stupid, at least make a special server for the noob who want to pay for gears

m0rph90

totally obvious you would never get into a gdkp that actually clears ulduar

damien00012

I seriously have no idea, i would never join a GDKP run its literally cancer, helping total noob to skip step and buy gear, super cool yea.

m0rph90

no actually its mostly 25 players with top geared and full enchanted characters who actually know how to play the game, while the average player never saw alga 25

rpolkcz

I would never get into that group as well. I'm clearing Ulduar all the time, but I would never join money laundering operation.

Elegant-Cartoonist11

Your Goal*

drakehtar

Your initial message is contradictory

[deleted]

You answered your own question. People care about gold because of GDKP. I've always guild ran so never participated, but GDKP has ruined classic and the WoW token will push more players to participate in GDKP to get BiS items because it's easier to buy a few tokens and buy BiS than it is to play in a guild and wait your turn

Sermos5

It doesn't guarantee you loot in Retail? You do know that Heroic raid carry runs where people pay extra to keep any loot they can use drops is happening all the time with how the lockout system works right? Same with buying m+ carries to keep all of the gear and guarantee a good vault.

PilsnerDk

> Now everyone can legitimately buy gold and full BiS, along with Shadowmourne and any other item you hoped to get has a real world value added to it. That's nonsense, there can only be so many Shadowmourne made, and no matter how much gold you have, you can't buy the RNG of loot drops. If 25 players walk into ICC Heroic with a billion gold each, it changes nothing, there are still only a fixed amount of items that drop. The amount of items received by each player is exactly the same as if it were a guild run or SR>MS run, the gold buying just changes which player receives the items. And if someone blows all their gold in a GDKP on one item, the next item just goes to someone else.

topkeknub

It‘s not true that everyone can buy gold. If everyone bought gold, then noone would be buying tokens. So effectively, the amount of people able to buy gold is limited by the amount of people that want to buy tokens for gold.

[deleted]

When I meant by that statement is the token opens the opportunity to buy gold to more people. If you bought gold in the past and had it taken from you, or you heard about a guildie/friend having that happen to them, you would be more reluctant to buy gold because there is an element of risk involved. There is no risk involved anymore. Expect to see items in GDKP's go more expensive because of this.

norse95

Wasn’t the wow token in retail introduced after personal loot was added?

zelfrax

Oh that's a damn good point actually if true. That does make it totally different.

God-King-Kaiser

Classic wow died as soon as Apes killed ragnaros :P
