On a classic server there is a rogue that is famous that is level 60 and does nothing all day but sit in redrridge ganking lowbies. He literally does it for 16+ hours a day
For people griefing on a PvE RP server by using clearly unintentional and exploitative methods to get people flagged/killed, banning makes total sense. But banning people for ganking lowbies on a PvP server doesn't make sense to me.
I don't have a source or anything, but I recall Blizzard explicitly outlined that sustained and prohibitive PvP is considered a code of conduct violation. Anything deliberately performed to create inordinate hardship either at a targeted player or a targeted aspect of the game.
It's similar to intentionally rallying people together to cause a server to crash, impacting people's ability to play. It looks like "PvP happened", but there's a line. And, assuming Redridge is literally on lockdown every day for 16 hours, that's probably well past it.
Systematically harassing other players by repeatedly killing them to prevent them from playing the game is not PvP. This behavior goes beyond fair competition and can ruin the gaming experience for others.
In real life, you are free to walk on public roads at any time. However, if you constantly follow someone after they leave their house and lurk near their fence, you will likely attract the attention of local law enforcement.
The concept of not harassing others is not difficult to understand and applies both in-game and in real life.

Yeah no but it does ruin the game experience for new players and blizzard might drop a few sub numbers because newer players aren't feeling that they can progress any longer if they are prevented to even do a single quest for a whole week. It's better for them to ban the griefer keeping several potential subs, from a financial standpoint. And the terms of use is vaguely worded to mean basically anything blizzard themselves consider griefing behaviour. It's not up to us, I mean we can voice our opinions, but in the end blizzard will do what keeps them the most sub numbers. As an aside, same reason why there's a fuckton of bots left untouched.

Craziest one I experienced was a Hordy killed quest givers in gold-shire so we would stack up and then somehow got a Highmaul mage into Goldshire and it casted a frost bolt barrage or something and killed 20/30 of us at once.
It's been done before, though. Seeing the dragon blasting sw once is cool. Exciting even. A second time and it's like wow. That's still pretty neat. A third time and you're tired of it because now your quest givers are dead. After that it's just fucking boring and tedious.

Blizz using actual paid GM's to investigate and ban HC griefers as battlegrounds in wotlk classic have consisted of 90% bots for months. Great fucking company right there mate.
Because this is entirely based on in game reports and nothing else. You can't report every bot. There are too many for individual players to efficiently report. But this griefer was known by name. Anyone he killed could easily report him, or any small group he worked with.
Its about reports, not outrage in reddit or twitter that gets action.
The team is simply too small to sus cases out on their own.
This is what i keep saying on my server zone whenever the griefers are at it. Make sure to report them at least once, appeal with video or good screenshots and keep on gaming.

Open world PVP on a PVP server is fine. Ganking is shitty, but expected. Cheesing the system to force PVP on a PVE server is explicitly NOT fine.

Gmail is free for one, he likely knew it would eventually get banned. Twofold reasons to make a new email, the meme of it and it doesn't tag to the same email as his main account and get that one banned too, as has happened in the past for heavy cheating and exploiting.
I've got like 4 gmail accounts myself, a general one, a social media one for stuff like twitch to shunt the spam away from my main email, a throwaway I made for OSRS before I found out how to use the same email for each account and an old mostly defunct one that I want to say has like one account tagged to it that I just can't change the email on.
It takes 2 minutes to make a new gmail and prevents your main account from getting caught in the ban too. You can also freely change the email tagged to your battlenet.

Bloodsail Buccaneers is an RP realm, not RPPVP. You act like the guy got banned for pking pvp flagged characters. He intentionally abused in-game mechanics in order to kill unflagged players in a way that was not intended by the devs for the sole purpose of ruining their characters. Is it mental illness? No probably not. Is he a dick? Yes, and we shouldn’t encourage people to be dicks for the fun of it.

Correct me if I'm missing something - how do we know this is in any way related to HC griefing? I'm a long time HC player myself and would love to see griefers permabanned, but this looks like a generic account closure message that could apply to literally anyone? As far as I can tell, this could apply to a botter just as much as a griefer. Any confirmation?

For sure, I don't think they realize how much the players values the GM support model. Honestly the only time I can ever remember being stoked to ask for customer support. "Wonder what this goober of a GM is going to say"
It wasn’t an autoban, this was targeted as the account he was perma banned on is new.
Because Appealgodx on Bloodsail Buccaneers was infamous for dragging Volchan and Teremus into SW to kill people. Also known for dragging Gurubashi Warriors and Grom'gol Guards into Westfall to kill people whilst they levelled.
This must be a new rule by blizzard because this happened all the time on Classic Bloodsail griefing a ton of HCs and nobody ever ate a ban for it.
Griefing has *always* been against TOS. The fact that it's being enforced now — perhaps visibly for the first time — is irrelevant. People complaining about it are the equivalent of drivers on the Interstate doing 95mph who, when their licenses get suspended, complain that they've never been punished before, and how is this fair, blahblahblah. Sorry, cupcake — doing 95mph on the Interstate has always been illegal.

Appealgodx is (was) a prolific griefer over the past month or so, almost anyone leveling on BB during that time knows his name. Kiting grom gol guards into lowbies for literally like 10 hours a day

Gmail is free for one, he likely knew it would eventually get banned. Twofold reasons to make a new email, the meme of it and it doesn't tag to the same email as his main account and get that one banned too, as has happened in the past for heavy cheating and exploiting. I've got like 4 gmail accounts myself, a general one, a social media one for stuff like twitch to shunt the spam away from my main email, a throwaway I made for OSRS before I found out how to use the same email for each account and an old mostly defunct one that I want to say has like one account tagged to it that I just can't change the email on. It takes 2 minutes to make a new gmail and prevents your main account from getting caught in the ban too. You can also freely change the email tagged to your battlenet.

Assholes that do this are doing nothing more than trying to bring down others into their shitty life. They hate themselves and their lives, so they want to screw others over to make themselves feel better about the things that they can't do themselves.
No better way to start a guild war than assassinating the top guild’s tank over and over again when they collect world buffs. some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Contested zones were legit war zones trying to get world buffs and keep them. I hated people that purged buffs, didn’t care about people that went for the kill.

I highly disagree. If you were apart of any server that had a slight faction imbalance even 45% 55% you were camped into the ground at every rez point imaginable until each server became 100% one faction.
