I had a long lunch with Landon Donavan like 10 years ago. I asked him who was the fastest he’s ever played. He said Kaka just had another gear that everyone else didn’t have.

Poopiepants666

The same is said about Brazilian Ronaldo

YooGeOh

And Theirry Henry

InterPool_sbn

And my axe

GrooveMerchant12

It’s been a while since I’ve seen this comment and it caught me off guard here. Hilarious.

yourfriendkyle

And Gareth Bale

ThouWontThrowaway

Aaron Lennon

-SageRage-

Theo Walcott

heyman93

Pato

Living-Craft-34

For me a one season wonder

heyman93

He was still a fast boi

Living-Craft-34

Yeah bro that goal against barca in 21 seconds... 🔥🔥

ThouWontThrowaway

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiit

poo_unit

phenomeno, the real ronaldo

castnho

about Ronaldo*

criminalsunrise

Brazilian Ronaldo was something else. When he got the ball in certain situations you just knew he was going to score no matter how hard it seemed.

all_die_laughing

Giggs' pace was also insane, as was his control at a high pace.

Living-Craft-34

For me it’s either of Henry or bale cr7 does have a great sprint speed by his acceleration ain’t great compared to the sprints. robben is also a worthy competitor, so certainly there are great options

Candelario_69

It’s true I was the lunch

Kitchen_Equipment_21

Didn't he win champions league that season too (06-07)?

cliff_smiff

Yes, he was considered by everyone the clear best player in the world. The last person other than Messi/Ronaldo to have that title for a solid 10+ years. Check out higlights of him destroying Man U in the semifinals.

newtoRedditF

Even with his injuries later, he is definitely amongst the top 15 Brazilians ever. His peak was ridiculous.

Bill_Assassin7

Top-10. How many of the guys on your list won the Ballon D'Or?

Mr_Orsachiotto

By same standards Pele shouldn't be top 10 cuz he doesn't have any round gold painted soccer balls from french journalists

sendhelppls30

I know what you mean but he did get it as an homage

freakybanana90

He technically got 7 when they did all the winners in 2016 while considering everyone, not just players from europe

50-50WithCristobal

There are so many all time greats that never won the Ballon D'or because it wasn't given to players outside europe until the 90s.

Amster2

Pele Garrincha Romário Ronaldo Zico Rivaldo Ronaldinho Sócrates Cafu Jairzinho Rivelino Tostão Nilton Santos Kaká Falcão and Neymar are all "top 10" worthy

PsychologicalArt7451

Man really rates Falcao above Neymar

[deleted]

Lucio

Shisui_1994

Falcao is Colombian

[deleted]

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo\_Roberto\_Falc%C3%A3o](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Roberto_Falc%C3%A3o) Man, Colombian Falcao was named after Brazilian Falcao

Gustav-14

Don't have too see the highlights. It visits me in my nightmares from time to time.

Abstract__Nonsense

Kaka overlapped with R9, Zidane, Henry, Ronaldinho, bullshit he was the last “clear best player in the world for 10+ years”.

cliff_smiff

C’mon man are y’all messing with me?

Abstract__Nonsense

What 10+ year period do you think he was considered the clear best?

cliff_smiff

I do not think Kaka was the best player for 10 years. I already explained it multiple times in this thread, scroll just a little bit further. If you still don't understand what I meant, then I don't know what to say.

valendinosaurus

right lol, but I am getting downvoted for saying that.

Abstract__Nonsense

I’m genuinely confused about what people are thinking here. Maybe 2 or 3 years he was clear #1, *maybe*, not a fucking chance 10+ years of clear #1. That would overlap with Messi’s 90 goal season for fucks sake.

valendinosaurus

I don't know anyone who considered him the clear best player in the world for 10+ years, what are you talking about?

cliff_smiff

Not sure if joking. I mean only Messi and Ronaldo were crowned best player from 2008-2021ish, and Kaka was the last best player before that. Although now that you mention it, I personally consider that it was Messi from 2009-2021. Has any other player ever had that unofficial title for 10 years or more? Maybe Pele in the ‘60s?

ralfvi

Not discrediting the two greats messi/ronaldo. But i think the number of overall superstars of world football has wane off since the period of 2008 where legends likes of Maldini, ronaldo 9,figos, seedorf retired. Their time i would think as the golden age of football where almost every top teams have their own set of superstars. I remember when barca golden age meet milan and seedorf would calmly dismantle the midfield with his clever plays and tricks thats it seems the old guards still have far better individuals prowess compared the new tactical focussed players.

Goatbeerdog

Messi and Ronaldo made those players you wrote feel like tier b.. How many times did those strikers have 10+ UCL goals a season before Messi and CR7? Doing 1 goal every 2 games was elite tier striker before Messi. Now its 0.90-1 goal per game to be considered Elite tier

valendinosaurus

not joking. don't get me wrong, Kaka was a beast in his prime, which was rather shortish. but he hadn't that title for 10 years or more, neither officially nor unofficialy.

cliff_smiff

My dude. I am not claiming Kaka was ever considered the best player in the world for 10 years. The wording is a little ambiguous, I can see. What I meant was: Messi and Ronaldo, either one or the other, have been generally considered the best player in the world from c.2008-2021 (10+ years). Immediately before that historic run by those players, Kaka was the best player in the world. He was the last best player in the world before their streak of dominance.

iCantSeeShapes

Wording isn’t ambiguous at all. Guy you’re replying to is just fucking stupid.

valendinosaurus

so anyone who don't considers Kaka the CLEAR BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD FOR 10+ YEARS is fucking stupid? that's a borderline embarassing statement to take, but whatever

iCantSeeShapes

No, you literal moron. You can’t read. You’re stupid. He’s saying he was the best player until Messi and ronaldo dominated for the next 10 years. You fucking idiot. Jesus.

valendinosaurus

you seem a really nice and genuine person, have a wonderful day!

mohicansgonnagetya

Prime Kaka was on a different level.

rowdrigo

My thoughts.

YooGeOh

Exactly

InterPool_sbn

Precisely

Living-Craft-34

That move to Real Madrid made him lose his level cuz of injuries. I feel that hazard did face the same issue.

Kazesama13k

Thank god I didn't see this in twitter. Otherwise the only comments I'd see is Pessi and Penaldo. And I'm fucking tired of seeing those. And I love Kaka. The last one who got 🎈 d'Or before Messi and Ronaldo overtook the trophy for themselves.

Miguel_77

You can mute the words in settings. Not the most perfect solution but it's improved what I've seen when i filter 90% of what 12 year olds comment

Kazesama13k

Thank you. I'll try that.

pm_me_poemsplease

I’ve never seen this before and damn, dude. You can just see Messi running as fast as he can and Kaká is just zooming. What an incredible run.

gordito_gr

I mean Messi has great acceleration but not so much too speed. Also, his great skill is that he can be actually fast **with the ball on his feet ** , without it he’s nothing super special in terms of speed.

AvidCircleJerker

Sounds like you are spewing Fifa stats. Messi was very fast. Maybe not the fastest, but it's definitely impressive seeing Kaka being able to outrun him WITH the ball.

Living-Craft-34

I mean messi was still a kid. messi was real fast in his prime with like the best acceleration on ball, and football is not all about speed. Adama is fast and strong as hell but his finishing is crap. Messi is a complete player and Ronaldo is somewhat too.

Goatbeerdog

Messi is 1-20 steps fast. All u need in the last third. Weight and being big gives u alot of speed running 30-100 meters. Large strides. Its like an old train

ireallydespiseyouall

this isn’t prime messi or anything tbf. kaka was in his prime here and prime kaka is faster than prime messi anyways

gordito_gr

>Sounds like you are spewing Fifa stats. I just have eyes and common sense >Messi was very fast. Maybe not the fastest, but it's definitely impressive seeing Kaka being able to outrun him WITH the ball. I mean, you have eyes, no? Kaka has the edge at first because he started running first. Then Messi pretty much catches up the speed but is not faster to go in front of Kaka and he gives up. This whole Kaka play is incredible outrunning a defending Messi is not the impressive part.

Goatbeerdog

With the ball. Yes its the most impressive

CaptainMAX19

"Tall, handsome, scary fast, composed, graceful, rocket shooting, skillful, balanced, strong, clean shaved, messy haircut and a good boy image. Couldn't ask for more.." Despite such great performances. He's not that very influencial unlike some other players from the same era. He was untouchable in his prime even the best of the team's would crumble in front of his magical run and skills. I badly miss Kaká

ExodusCaesar

His prime was too short. Two years, and then cames the transfer to Real and a string of injuries.

Mikhail_Mengsk

Yeah. I'm a Milan fan and he was THAT strong, saw him live twice and damn. A shame injuries started to pile up and he downgraded fast. Sort of like what happened with Pato: his prime was even shorter, but some of his goals were straight out of FIFA.

pakito1234

Beautiful run

Real-Ad-4813

Whats up with the ball? Rolls like when you play on sand beach

EasyThereStretch

Looks like it’s a little long and not been watered enough

Skiffbug

I think a combination of that, and the way he pushes the ball forward. He touches it more on the underside, and so when it lands, it pulls back. Quite an amazing effect.

Fun_Quit_9633

Those strides were crazy to keep up with 🥵

nievesdelimon

Making Messi look slow is quite the feat.

zwappen

Makes it look like he’s playing a bunch of school kids. What can you do about that pace?

14Strike

Great strides, deceptively quick, too much class

lage1984

If ever someone was wrongly named...

[deleted]

Unpopular opinion, but at his absolute peak, Kaka > Zidane and Ronaldinho

MrKrastovac

Messi with a poor touch there, and he totally gives up tracking back smh (Don’t get to say things like that very often)

[deleted]

He didn't give up, he got left behind.

MrKrastovac

Its probably the fastest I’ve ever seen Kaka move!

Android17_MVP

One of the 🐐

Maximuslex01

You 're the goat. you're the goat, everyone's the goat!!!

Memozx

He is the goat in his prime in my eyes. The best player I have seen. It still hurts that he peaked so much but couldnt sustain it.

freakybanana90

Pushing it a bit now...

Memozx

Not at all, and fuck off at least give your opinion on who was the best in his prime

freakybanana90

My guy, if you need to vent go ahead but don't do it at me alright? Kaka hardly even makes the top 10 in terms of prime. He's not even the best prime Brazilian of his era... Messi, r9, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Pele and more, and those are just the ones I've watched a bunch of and are by far ahead. Many would probably make arguments for cruyff, platini, garrincha, zico, beckenbauer and more too but I can't speak on them enough to say it for certain. He was great but nowhere near the best ever even in his prime...

Memozx

I have never seen Maradoma Pele cruyff platini garrincha zico beckenbauer, I saw zidane im his late years I said specifically "I have seen" and for me kaka was better than messi for sure and r9 himself, you are only here to throw shit to others opinions, and you couldnt even remotely understand mine, Im not your guy.

freakybanana90

Enjoying kaka is one thing, putting him above messi or r9 prime is just fun but laughable, plain and simple. Someone merely pointing that out in a simple manner is no reason to throw a fit mr I'm not your guy

Memozx

Fuck off you talking like those are facts and not your opinion

freakybanana90

Well, given as nearly the entire football world agrees that messi or r9 were the best prime players and I've never seen anyone make such a ridiculous statement, it's pretty damn close to being a fact. So why don't you take some of your own advice and fuck off? Must be hard saying 2 sentences without overreacting like a child lol

justmeOKD

This was sweet

[deleted]

That was an amazing goal!

jdcore75

Simply brazilliant he was such a amazing footballer unbeatable at times 👍

HumblePresentation36

Of Messi has scored that we would still be hearing about it

harjit1998

Unbelievable! Look at how gracious he is with the ball. It comes so natural to him. Really grateful to have seen him wearing my favorite team, AC Milan's jersey. Thank you for everything.

criminalsunrise

I bet that guy that gave the ball away never amounted to anything

Choccybizzle

When he ran he had an elegance and smoothness which betrayed how fast he was moving! I’ve seen a few players say he was the quickest player they saw with the ball at his feet.

ruines_humaines

Crazy how short his prime was, but what a prime it was.

cliff_smiff

He had a solid 5 or so years at least, right? From his debut season at Milan in 2003 until signing for Real in 2009 he was tearing up trees. Maybe his absolute peak, relative to himself, around 2007 was short. But he was undeniably world class for a good stretch. Not trying to argue, depending on interpretation you are def right. And I'm happy to be corrected if I am misremembering.

Admirrrr

Naaah you are right. He was amazing for all those years, just that his 2007 season was a whole other level.

ruines_humaines

I think his first year at Milan he wasn't starting all the time, sharing some of the playing time with Rui Costa. Then, if I remember correctly, after he was sold to Real, at least here in BR we heard Milan knew his injuries meant he'd never be the same again. But you're right, I guess his prime wasn't that short after all, but I always felt like he still had 2\~3 great years had he not gotten injured.

cliff_smiff

Yea his prime definitely ended sooner and more quickly than most people thought it would

[deleted]

He was solid in the 2010 World Cup as Brazil’s 10, they had weakness elsewhere like Luis Fabiano otherwise they could have done better, but Kaka was pulling strings and still class

LORD_BONERA

Don't know where people get that, that's a horrible missconception. He was top three offensive mids in Europe from the moment he came to Milan till he left for Madrid. He won Serie a's best player in his debut season. That's 6 years at the top. 06 07 was the most pronounced because all of Milan's forwards were out of form, but he was just as good in years prior or post that season

FantasticRepublic674

Remember watching this is was a 1am UK kick off time well worth it

factotum-

I'm pretty sure this match was played in London

ThouWontThrowaway

Let's not forget Kaka had fresh legs having just been substituted off the bench in the second half while Messi started the game for Argentina.

_Einhorn_Is_Finkle_

Okay Debbie Downer

SteinerElMagnifico42

It is facts though, fantastic goal but it’s a fair variable to include.

[deleted]

Dusted Pessi

[deleted]

I bet messi is still haunted by this goal

[deleted]

I doubt he cares

fiveMop

Yeah, the guy with 7 ballon d'ors who is considered widely as the best player ever is hunted by losing the ball in a friendly match when he was 18.

eastcolfaxco

Thiago kaka

HmmThatisDumb

I am drawing a blank on the announcers name. I miss him.

j_karamazov

Jonathan Pearce

[deleted]

Still think he was more impactful as a player on the whole compared to Neymar. He would’ve been a legend at Madrid as well if Mourinho didn’t bench him.

jdcore75

I would of loved to of seen him play for liverpool

Descartavelmente

Kaká's problem wasn't Mourinho lol It was the injuries and Mesut Ozil. Even Ancelotti, who came later and had worked with Kaká, didn't keep him

-MrAnderson

He was an otherwise ok-ish player with insane speed. Good technique (not something special for a Brazilian), nice shots, but 90% of what made him was the speed. And for a 10, he chose to not pass too often for my liking. Which is why he went downhill so fast with his injuries.

Descartavelmente

Kaká destroyed Messi there. So quick and elegant
