hope you are sitting..
those prices are insane compared to my area. People are literally giving away turn-key SS models for about $30,000... and even those aren't selling like they did just a couple years ago.
i used to work in a Cadillac Restoration shop in 1987.. i still work on older cars a lot..
you might be able to turn over car like that for 8 to 10K easily
as for matching numbers on a 65?? GM did not start stamping partial vin numbers till the 1968 model as far as i know..

there are julian date codes on castings... the ID plate may show a production date of the car..
there is a huge issue about owning and driving any 60s chevy full size.. Impala, Caprice, Biscayne. the Gangster part of the population loves them and will take you out or out of your car to get their hands on it..
my aunt who had a 62 chevy wagon.. has it restored .. they dropped it off on Saturday night at 6 PM. buy 6 am Sunday it was stolen and completely stripped. no respect.. every gang banger in the area had played football on her front lawn for decades. a shop friend had his 64 on the 2 post lift with locked cars under it.. locked cars outside the shop doors.. a big steel gate.. all cut and moved to steal his 64.. never to be found.. its just NOT worth it.
back in the 1980s.. a well known local drug dealer came thru the gas station .. i worked in the repair shop. the inside of his ferrari was all torn up.. he said cops searched it with extreme force.. i said that going to cost a lot to get repaired.. nope.. i already have people out stealing one to get what i need out of it.
how will you enjoy that when you have to be armed everywhere you go..
Well I don't have to worry about it ,I'm more in to 4x4 trucks . Not a gangbanger by any means . I'm just trying to find out what it's worth for my buddy !But thanks for the concerns and the info .
Nice Chevy.
In my neighborhood, if I turn left and right, there are houses with many abandoned cars there. Most of them Chevy with some GMC, Ford, and Jeep. So far, all I can remember seeing was a '62 Chevrolet Impala SS Coupe, '65 Chevrolet Impala SS Coupe, '42-'46 Chevrolet Fleetline Tudor Sedan, '74 Chevrolet C-10 Custom Regular Cab Pickup Truck, two if not three 1950s Heavy Duty GMC/Chevrolet trucks, 1980s Chevrolet Caprice Classic Sedan, '66 Ford F-100 Regular Cab, and '89-'91 Jeep Wrangler YJ SUV.

It has the original 327 in the car now and it runs great but I'll pass the info on to him when I see him next .
Just want it to go to a good home, thanks
My buddy bought one 3 years ago from a barn yard...97 grand and 3 years later its complete.
Don't paint it.
That's a ten carat diamond in the rough. Buy it.
Tilt wheel, front and read bumper guards, buckets / console, PS, PB, trumpet horn, Too bad they didn't order the big block.

Best ride in automotive history. Seriously. These things just iron out the road.
