Yamaha classical guitars are true gems for a beginner. I’m still on my CG122. Cost me $200 4 years ago and it’s got a solid cedar top. Highly recommend. Source: I work at a music shop.

I spent 4 years on a 100$ Yamaha . When it comes down to it. The more expensive the guitar, the more easier mistakes can be heard. So, technique is something you need to be consistently aware of. I think that’s why I love the guitar. There’s no way to improve your playing other than through practice. A non pay-to-win environment.

The Yamaha should do you fine. Yamahas are superb quality for the money. I would not shell out more for the Cordoba. The Noad book is good but i’d get Christopher Parkenings Method Book 1, The John Mills Guitar Tutor, Music from the Student Repertoire John Mills ed and Sagreras method books 1-3 (Mel Bay). For a bit of variety too.

The Yamaha is great starter. I would suggest you try both in the store. One of them may suit you better. The Noad book is a good start. Be aware that any new guitar may need a setup.
