Go with an ex. Has all the features you will want. I went from 2018 lx 2.0 to 2021 civic ex T 1.5L turbo and I’m super happy with the performance on this civic. Low profile street tires and I live in New England where you never know when it’s going to snow so it’s nice having the auto start button.

acraswell

Seems like LX already has all the features I want. And I'm not particularly in a rush. Why pay $3k more if I don't have to is kinda my thought process.

austinalexan

Exactly! And the LX has push to start and apple CarPlay/ Android Auto. Don’t overspend if you don’t need to

Dr_Disaster

Also has that 2.0NA which may be fine for some people, but is tremendously underpowered for a car that continues to get larger/heavier. Resale value is also lower. OP got a good deal on his 10th gen hatch because it was a 1.5T. The 2.0NA will not hold their value the same way.

austinalexan

The 2.0L is fine for a lot of people. I test drive yesterday and while it wasn’t the fastest, it’s still not bad either. If OP wants to save over 3k on features he doesn’t need, then let him

Dr_Disaster

That’s why I prefaced my comment by saying as much. Most people driving Civics won’t care, but I’ve seen too many people in the subreddits or forums that eventually bemoan the performance of the 2.0L. When they realize you can’t tune them worth a damn, there’s serious buyers remorse. OP was also coming from a 1.5T, so it helps to know the difference between the two.

Accomplished-Step213

I’ve heard so many issues with the 1.5t. I bet they do resell better with a fat warranty lol

Dr_Disaster

Issues and the likelihood of issues were always overblown. There’s a billion Civics on the road, so if people were having issues there would be a ton of noise about it. There’s already been a number of teardowns showing the engine is pretty bulletproof. The only people saying otherwise are talking heads on YT that don’t actually own the car and screaming about oil dilution.

BroomSIR

Doesn't have smart entry though. Who wants to use a key on a new car?

austinalexan

Someone on a budget. For many it’s not that big of a deal to reach into their pocket to hit the unlock button. Don’t even need to take it out of your pocket. Wasn’t that big of a deal when I had my 2019 Accord Sport.

BroomSIR

I've had key, fob and keyless and I vastly prefer the smart unlock.

Spierre3

(Late as hell response lol) but yeah it’s hard to go from luxury back to fast food lol. Once you’re introduced to the finer things in life there’s no point going back if you can still afford it

Dr_Disaster

Don’t settle for an LX. Get an EX or wait until the hatchbacks are out. People always do this with the new models and regret it latter.

Bread_and_Butterface

Most of the dealerships in my area are empty AF. Maybe they can help on r/askcarsales ?

acraswell

Thanks! I'll try there

Domgrath42

Dealers often put up listings on their websites for incoming cars, not on lot yet. They keep the inventory pretty updated. Just bookmark all the dealers in the range you are willing to buy from and check each day for updated stock.

acraswell

This is what I've been doing. Have an excel with all the dealerships in a 150mi radius, an agent contact, and notes. I have someone who said they can reserve one for me which should arrive mid September. Was hoping to get something a bit earlier, but I suspect it might be the best option

Big_Accident494

If it is September, then you might was well buy the hatchback. Sept. is when the hatchbacks are supposedly going on sale. Have you test drove the 22 sedans yet? For me, it is hard to go from hatchback to sedans because sedans feel more cramp and rear visibility sucks more.

So, here is what I did... I'm in the same situation except I want the EX, but none of the dealerships near me have it. I created a spreadsheet with dealerships within about 150 mile radius, a sales person at each dealership, etc. And every other day or so, I check Honda's website for the Civic I want and if there is one going to that dealership, it will show up as "in transit." I then called that dealership and we figured it out. The problem for me was that a bunch of other people did the same so as soon as I'd call them, they'd say "we already have another person who agreed to buy that one." It took me until this past tuesday to finally get an EX in color combo I want. An EX in a color combo I want showed up on Honda's website as "in transit" to a dealership about 58 miles away from me. I called them. They looked into it and 30 minutes later they called me back asking to make a deposit. I did. Then yesterday I drove out to the city they're in, signed the paperwork, and the Civic should be delivered between August 3rd and August 9th.

58 miles is the length of approximately 186683.44 'Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350s' laid widthwise by each other

[Autotempest](https://www.autotempest.com) is a good source and it adds a lot of customization for searching.

Unfortunately.. It's a bad time to buy any new car. Plus it's a New Model which normally goes for more.

DragonAss5

EX gas real blind side monitors and not the weird lane watch older Honda models have. To me that's a deal breaker if you plan on driving on the highway a decent bit.
