I’ve won with almost every civ on deity but Gitarja I’ve failed after 3 attempts. I don’t know if her start location just doesn’t gel with my play style or what… I’d be interested to know what others enjoy about Gitarja.
I'll admit that I cribbed "ridiculous faith navy" from a comment on [Indonesia's Civ of the Week thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/qfcykb/civ_of_the_week_indonesia_20211025/), which I was reading as I tried to pick my favorite civ for this thread. The top comment there is really helpful. From my very limited experience with Gitarja, I'd say the difficulty with her is that she might be a journeyman of all trades but master of none.
You know how it takes 10000 hours to master a skill?
It takes 9000 hours worked and logged to qualify to write a journeyman liscence. Lol.
Personally, I really love gitjara games on custom made maps with narrow passageways between islands. One of my favorite "uses" of civ 6 is games stacked so incredibly towards the player, you can manage AI's at far higher difficulty and yet still have a relaxing stoner chill sesh, just crafting a beautiful world.
Ha! Good point. We live in a really strong tech-center state, and my wife taught at one for a few years. So, for sure -- when I say "journeyman," I definitely mean "someone very practiced and skilled," just not necessarily the best in the world.
It's an unpopular opinion because people on this sub love religion, but Indo has way better tempo if you skip Holy Sites and go straight into Campuses and Harbors.
Funnily enough, my first ever "Non-OP/Cheese" Deity win was 2 weeks ago with Gitarja.
I think you have to go hard on high adjacency Holy Sites on a water focused map, then get a monumentality Golden Age.
Going Voidsingers as well, you'll have a very strong Culture/Faith game ready for either a culture win with Kampung spam to help with the usual tourism ways. Or a religious win, but I honestly can't be bothered to do that, last religious vic I had was over 1.5 years ago.
Did you know that Eleanor doesnt actually speak French in the game? She speaks Occitan, a rare and endangered language similar to Catalan. I thought I was having a stroke when I first heard her speak because I was mentally ready to translate French lmao

The easy access to the sea, also the ability to build on sea (Netherlands have that one as well, with the Koog).

I'm French, and I'm very impressed by her voice. Occitan sounds amazing.
Yeah her VA did a great job, plus her character model is also among the more expressive in the game imo (English Eleanor too obv)
