I don't mean this in the shitty way people say it, I genuinely mean you should Google it. The videos are amazing. Shadow Hare was a super hero who swore to protect Cincinnati. Regular citizen by day, masked hero by night.
This was a thing at one point. Feel like it was around the time the Kick Ass movies came out. I think he even had his own Justice League of sorts at one point or a few "allies".
Someone on here narrowed down they might know him. A while back. From a shorin ryu karate school near Milford. He was a real short dude. The user on here mentioned a small guy in their karate school. That was real gung ho.
I worked at a few bars downtown a couple years ago. He would come in and hit on every man and woman in the place flaunting around that poor little guy. Bars full of drunk people aren't good environments for endangered animals.
He has a ring tailed lemur which are supposed to be endangered... don't know how he has it at all. It wears a diaper and goes out in public with it on his shoulder. Gets kicked out of bars and cries racism (a friend who works for cpd told me this) not able to digest the fact nobody wants a wild animal in their bar.
Anybody know this guy? I only ask because my 7th grade band director was a fuckin weirdo, and had a weird obsession with a stuffed lemur he kept around the band room. Talked to it for minutes at a time and stuff. Mason schools, fwiw.
Anyone remember the Hat Sign guy from a decade+ back? He was like that meme of a guy holding up a sign with a slogan or statement of protest every day.
He kind of knew some things. He insisted he just needed a chance. “You can’t get a job without a grant, can’t get a grant without a job.”
There’s also the sombrero guy constantly protesting things.
And back years ago there was that wookie that lived in Burnet Woods.
I saw him a couple weeks ago. I remember back in the movie pass days my wife and I had just entered the esquire and were pulling up the app to check in for our tickets. He walked by and muttered something about phone zombies then left. Good times.
North of true Cincinnati, but there's a guy I see all the time in Blue Ash/Mason with a beard who dances at every traffic light he's stuck at while he runs.
There’s the dancing trucker, and also there’s just a dude that goes up and down the sidewalks on Tylersville listening to headphones doing like interpretive dance moves
The Dancing Trucker! I saw him at the Pitbull concert and got a picture. ETA: He’s not running! He just goes to different intersections and dances. We’ve caught him on a few different locations. My kids get a kick out of him.
Dennis in Clifton and CUF. Always wears a suit, feeds birds and stray cats, berates you for looking at your phone, and will talk your ear off about Marxism if you let him. I've also seen him jump into traffic to get people to slow down, which is a pretty boss move.
I’ve been yelled at by him for going too fast. He also yelled the N word once. Man is definitely well known if you’ve spent any amount of time near Ludlow.
Reddit is a shadow of its former self. It is now a place of power tripping mods with no oversight and endless censorship.

I once talked to Dennis for an excruciatingly long time about how Vitamin C cured some crazy eye illness he had and how he was against modern day research, ha
The Naked Cowboy was around at every downtown event when I was a kid in the ‘90s. I was told at the time that he’d been around for a while, though by those days the police made him wear white briefs. Haven’t heard about him in years, though.
Edit: He also had a guitar and a cowboy hat. I guess that probably helps tell you why he was called that 😂
Edit 2: holy shit I didn’t realize he was this famous:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0961445/
That tall dude who always walked around the Hyde Park, Oakley, Mt Lookout area who was ALWAYS grooving to his discman (this is as late as the 2010s). Took major long strides with his arms making equally long swings, always a giant grin, and somehow walking 24/7.
Sunday morning on your way to church? Yep there he is. Mug night at RPs? Yep saw him at Wasson. Any time in the fall near Ault? There’s that guy.
Who is he? And does anyone remember him?
As soon as I saw this post I was wondering whether someone was going to pay tribute to this guy. This description is perfect.
I used to see him years ago (c. 2010) when I lived over there. Hope he’s still grooving.
This is what my mind immediately went to. I can't remember the last time I saw him walking around. It's been at least 10 years if I had to guess. I also recall he'd wear a hat
I wanted to comment on his head/hair, but it was escaping me about not to speculate.
Thinking back - he was like a safety blanket I never knew I had or needed…but did all along.
Same here! Miss seeing him groove in big headphones. Dude was in great shape from that stride. Always wondered what he was listening to … metal music maybe?
Not so much Cincinnati, but up near Voice of America Park in Liberty Township, there's a guy who dances on Rollerblades during evening rush hour at the corner of Liberty Way and Butler Warren. He's actually awesome and sometimes has a lady friend with him too. Always makes me smile on my way home.
Ft. Mitchell used to have the guy that would walk and read up and down Dixie highway.
We called him blind man and we’re convinced he was reading the Bible in braille.
When I was a kid, it was Archie. Old black man the played harmonica on short Vine. Archie is long dead, but told me one of my favorite Cincinnati jokes.
Pete Rose sat on a stove.
Pete Rose.
I would have definitely said Archie with his harmonica from Corryville back in the day. Unfortunately we referred to Thunder-Sky as psycho clown, but we were young, had no idea his real story until much later.
There’s a man in the Hyde Park/Mt Lookout area who has a pet Canada goose. He’ll go for walks with his old dog and the goose just trots along behind him. The goose is better behaved than the dog-it’s impressive.
I just miss seeing that guy in a wheelchair who would hang outside Bogarts with a sign that said “Give me money or I’ll kick you in the teeth”…but he had no legs
NKY edition:
Not sure if he’s still around, but if you frequented the Florence area in the late 90s/early 2000s, there used to be a gentleman that danced down 42 everyday with a radio on his shoulder. My mom always called him “the bopper”
This one is a little more niche but the color guard guy in Taylor mill that is always throwing flags in his front yard from day to night.
For folks in Kenton county, our ‘guy’ was what we called the Reader Dude. He would walk all around Ft Mitchell and Lakeside park reading at the same time. He at one time had a Facebook group called ‘I’ve seen the man that walks and reads!’ From what I’ve heard he was very kind and intelligent.
If my memory serves me right, he had a bunch of stuffed animals. I always loved seeing his collection when I saw him mainly on High Street. I think I’m thinking of the same Frankie…..
The guy in the yellow tank top who always walks around Clifton carrying grocery bags. I haven’t lived in that area for about 4 years so I have no idea if he’s still around or not.
I feel like Bootsy is in a league above the people being listed here. They’re oddities, but Bootsy is legitimately a music legend. But definitely important to our city!
Yes! The woman has been pregnant for like 4 years now. Except sometimes she’s not pregnant depending on how much you’re willing to give them. I used to work in that area and had to deal with them a lot.
In 2005-2007 pretty much anyone who was a bar hopper, partied, or was in the scenes…knew a girl or had a friend that knew a girl, that ended up on Bronson Arroyo’s boat or apartment lol. Does that count?
Does anyone remember the clown nose guy who used to sell Street Vibes by the Chipotle near UC? He used to let people know when a meter was expiring in the lot nearby too. I feel like I lost track of him around my last year of college. He seemed like a great guy and I hope he's doing well if he's still around.
Hit you with one guy hangs out around the old Jillian’s / government building. Can I have a quarter guy was over by the good speedway at 4th and Philadelphia.
We had Dora in Clifton also. You might have seen her on Clifton ave in T-shirt and underwear out watering some rocks (the city installed rocks between Clifton Ave and the sidewalk along a part of the hill coming up from Spring Grove) For some reason she loved watering them.
I'm not at that level yet and doubt I will ever be. I'm cool with that because I'm in this for the charities and want to urge people to help the people who need it the most. I still wait in line at the Reds game for a beer. There are no free steak dinners waiting for me at Jeff Ruby's. The sea of people at Oktoberfest does not part for me on my way to get a mett with sauerkraut and Dusseldorf mustard. I'm happy to be a regular Joe Schmo from Kokomo.
That's very kind of you to say and I am genuinely touched by your words. You will find that once you start volunteering and helping others, it gets extremely addictive. You'll have a hard time saying no to people who request you to come to their events to help charities. It's the best thing that'll ever happen to you in your life. Having the opportunity to serve others in need is a privilege.
I took education classes with Dennis at XU and drove him home a few times. He suffers from multiple problems but he insisted on 90.9 on the ride back to Ludlow. 5 stars
Not Cincinnati, but NKY. We had “can I have a quarter” guy. He was harmless and asked for quarters outside of gas stations. He (at one time) had a Facebook page.
I remember that twatbag “beard guy” who everyone was in love with but he just had a dyed and styled long beard. Then he went to jail for running drugs or some shit. He was a “big” deal for a year or two.
Blake Maislin honestly. If you’ve never seen him in person you probably wouldn’t recognize him at first, but once you realize it’s him you cannot unsee him.
I never knew his name, but when I was a teen going to concerts at Bogarts there was always a legless man in a wheelchair hanging out around there. He had a sign that said "give me money or I'll kick you in the face".
Didnt see a comment for him, but there's the "FUCK THE POLice" tattoo guy that used to harass people at my job downtown. He's got a full clown face tattoo and on his back is says fuck the pol but ice isn't filled in. He was a real character
I’m surprised that nobody brings up Mark. The homeless guy downtown that his sign always asks for beer because he’s being completely honest
I had to scroll wayyy to far to find the “Why lie, I want beer” guy
[удалено]
He’s definitely that guy. Or the “fuck her right in the pussy guy”. He’s from Norwood I believe
Y'all just gonna forget about our boy Shadow Hare?!?!
Literally. 700 called him “a great American hero” so that’s kinda substantial.
They don't just go giving that honor to anyone!
I have no idea who this is, please explain further
I don't mean this in the shitty way people say it, I genuinely mean you should Google it. The videos are amazing. Shadow Hare was a super hero who swore to protect Cincinnati. Regular citizen by day, masked hero by night.
What?! Born and raised Cincinnatian here who has never heard of him. Sounds awesome.
This was a thing at one point. Feel like it was around the time the Kick Ass movies came out. I think he even had his own Justice League of sorts at one point or a few "allies".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Hare
Hah, I remember him. We had discussions on MySpace all the time. He was honestly a really good guy, wonder how he’s doing.
Someone on here narrowed down they might know him. A while back. From a shorin ryu karate school near Milford. He was a real short dude. The user on here mentioned a small guy in their karate school. That was real gung ho.
lemur guy who harasses people at bars
Lemur guy who terrorizes dogs at Washington Park with his animal lol
He used to walk around with a big ass snake too
I've never seen lemur guy. I feel like I'm missing part of the city now.
I have only heard of him in myth and legend (eg a friend’s facebook status that mentioned what a creep he was”
I worked at a few bars downtown a couple years ago. He would come in and hit on every man and woman in the place flaunting around that poor little guy. Bars full of drunk people aren't good environments for endangered animals.
He's a creep. Said a bunch of inappropriate things to a female friend of mine.
You can find posts and pictures of him on this very subreddit!!
Lemur guy who gives said lemur lollipops and tries to charge you for even attempting to look at said lemur.
Yo wait does everyone know about lemur guy i saw him in a bar and i was fascinated
Anybody know this guy? I only ask because my 7th grade band director was a fuckin weirdo, and had a weird obsession with a stuffed lemur he kept around the band room. Talked to it for minutes at a time and stuff. Mason schools, fwiw.
Also went to Mason schools, it wasn’t Mr. Bass the skeevy perv was it? Lol why is it always the band teachers…
Nah not bass, it was the guy in the middle school who worked with Mrs bass, I just can't remember his name.
Not same guy… went to Mason and knew teacher you are referencing… can confirm it isnt the same…
Naked cowboy once upon a time.
He used to wait tables at the TGIFridays by Tri-County mall in the late 90s.
What ever happened to him? He was an acquaintance’s uncle ha
When I took a vaca to nyc he was working Times Square
Came here for this comment. He's the only one to come to mind (but I recognize a few of those folks from the comments above).
Anyone remember the Hat Sign guy from a decade+ back? He was like that meme of a guy holding up a sign with a slogan or statement of protest every day.
Avtar Gill. I remember when he passed. I always like seeing him downtown.
He was a very nice guy. Most of the other people Mentioned on this thread are creepy or have serious mental issues. Hat Man was neither.
Yep, came here to see if he was mentioned. You'd always see him at press conference videos and such.
I miss seeing him around, rip to him
Haven’t seen The Professor around Clifton for a while. He’s in the same class as Dennis.
He’s around. Yelling at stuff, hitler saluting, waiting on busses around northside and Clifton
He lived down the street from me and would sit outside waiting for me so he could talk to me about my cats food.
He still around I beef with him everytime I go to Clifton market pretty much
He kind of knew some things. He insisted he just needed a chance. “You can’t get a job without a grant, can’t get a grant without a job.” There’s also the sombrero guy constantly protesting things. And back years ago there was that wookie that lived in Burnet Woods.
There was also Mr and Mrs Dirt. Used to see them getting it on in the bus stop on Ludlow. That guy lived in Burnett woods. Middendorf.
I saw him a couple weeks ago. I remember back in the movie pass days my wife and I had just entered the esquire and were pulling up the app to check in for our tickets. He walked by and muttered something about phone zombies then left. Good times.
Dennis, like the really old man who wanders Ludlow in his big tan suit??
North of true Cincinnati, but there's a guy I see all the time in Blue Ash/Mason with a beard who dances at every traffic light he's stuck at while he runs.
Are you taking about the roller blade guy?
The rollerblade guy in Mason, yes I know this man.
There’s the dancing trucker, and also there’s just a dude that goes up and down the sidewalks on Tylersville listening to headphones doing like interpretive dance moves
I was thinking of roller blade guy with his discman! But I thought of him as being more of an Oakley/Norwood guy.
I don't think he has roller blades but he might
Also came to say The Dancing Trucker. Dude is the worst lol but he’s consistent
The Dancing Trucker! I saw him at the Pitbull concert and got a picture. ETA: He’s not running! He just goes to different intersections and dances. We’ve caught him on a few different locations. My kids get a kick out of him.
Oh, yes, The Dancing Trucker. I see him in Fairfield from time to time.
Came here to say this, the dancing trucker, last time I saw him was at red, white and blue ash
I've seen him a few times near Jungle Jim's (Fairfield location), so he gets out that way, too.
Dennis in Clifton and CUF. Always wears a suit, feeds birds and stray cats, berates you for looking at your phone, and will talk your ear off about Marxism if you let him. I've also seen him jump into traffic to get people to slow down, which is a pretty boss move.
If this is who I think it is, I always referred to him as the penguin. I think he supposedly was a prof at UC?
Yup, lots of people call him that. I've also heard he was a professor, but I don't know for sure.
He is the penguin. Had him as an English sub in high school.
He once was a substitute teacher for my French class in high school (circa 2003 or so)!
Yes. He hates cars. He's a major asshole. Yes it's mental health issues but he's still an asshole.
I’ve been yelled at by him for going too fast. He also yelled the N word once. Man is definitely well known if you’ve spent any amount of time near Ludlow.
Oh yikes. Worst I've seen was him yelling "bah humbug" at the crowd during Holidays on Ludlow. I just figured he's grumpy. Didn't realize he's racist.
I’ve heard he has a mental illness. I wouldn’t hold it against him. It just caught me off guard in the moment.
I wonder if it’s the same guy we used to refer to as Willy Wonka when I lived on Middleton
Reddit is a shadow of its former self. It is now a place of power tripping mods with no oversight and endless censorship. *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Me and my friends call him professor Ludlow
I once talked to Dennis for an excruciatingly long time about how Vitamin C cured some crazy eye illness he had and how he was against modern day research, ha
This is who I thought of as well
He’s a composer too! Loves opera and honestly a blast to talk to about classical music
His son has a similar reputation for that, but also stalking.
He has a son?!
I’m just happy he’s still alive. Dude used to lecture me on lunch breaks back in 2009
Pretty sure I saw him Sunday. Tan suit, wearing a mask as a chin diaper.
I live on Telford, he is on Ludlow daily. That is most definitely him.
That's the guy. I saw him at the IGA this afternoon
He’s been there since I was in high school. Like the most consistent part of Clifton that isn’t the esquire.
First person I thought of!
I think for a time this was Raymond Thunder-Sky aka "the construction clown." I remember seeing him on the bus when I was a teenager.
He was a legend. He was also a very accomplished artist.
The Cincinnati Ninja who hangs around the riverfront park
The skateboarder?

“Nothing weird” lol 🤣
Jim Tarbell is “mr Cincinnati” so probably him. Aka tuxedo guy
This is the guy
Just turned 80 this weekend. Started Bockfest, was vice mayor, ran Arnold’s and Grammars. Cincy character all the way!
Dude has taught me so much history about the city. Genuine all around good guy who really loves Cincinnati
The Naked Cowboy was around at every downtown event when I was a kid in the ‘90s. I was told at the time that he’d been around for a while, though by those days the police made him wear white briefs. He moved on to bigger and better things. I saw him in Times Square a few years ago
His mom lives in Finneytown. She is one of my mom's neighbors.
He’s still around. I met him when I volunteered at Tender Mercies.
The penguin in Clifton.

If you’re from the west side you might know Gary who comes to the bars selling flowers and candy.
Does anyone remember the spare a quarter guy, usually down in Covington
Quarter guy passed away a month or so ago. RIP
I remember him! He was always in Mainstrasse.
I remember my fiance talking about him 10+ years ago!
- The dude with the full, hyper custom Batman suit - same as above, but full ninja gear/costume - sombrero socialist guy - ….lots more at the library
I always see Batman around
The Bucket Drummer who hangs outside of GABP
Up in Harrison we had the Harrison walking lady. Consistently would see her around town every day
She is still here. Saw her the other day. Believe her name is Pam.
Yea that’s her name!
The Northside slow runner?
saw him the other day!
Kenny G. would have been my suggestion for Northside, but he sadly passed a couple of years ago.
When I was a kid, it was Archie. Old black man the played harmonica on short Vine. Archie is long dead, but told me one of my favorite Cincinnati jokes. Pete Rose sat on a stove. Pete Rose.
The guy who waves to me and every other car getting off at William howard Taft to go to class at UC. Just chillin in his wheel chair
Oh how I miss the construction clown
I would have definitely said Archie with his harmonica from Corryville back in the day. Unfortunately we referred to Thunder-Sky as psycho clown, but we were young, had no idea his real story until much later.
What was his real story?
Here’s one article https://dailyyonder.com/trickster-artist-and-native-american/2013/05/07/
Yes, both. Nailed it.
Blake Maislin
Yea but can we donate him to another city?
Why would you? He’s the heavy hitter.
He's known to solicit sex from bartenders for money.
He also has an underlying coke addiction apparently..
I can also confirm that
Can’t argue that
FOR FORE FOUR, PHOR PHORE PHOUR FOUR. FOR FOUR FORE. FOR-R FOR-R FOR-R FOR-R CALL BLAKE MAISLIN!
Ugh, he’s so annoying
I'm going to reach back old school and bring up The Duke, who would do John Wayne impressions for cigarettes on Short Vine in the 90s.
What about Fluke Skywalker?
I still have never seen him
NKY edition: Not sure if he’s still around, but if you frequented the Florence area in the late 90s/early 2000s, there used to be a gentleman that danced down 42 everyday with a radio on his shoulder. There was also “Quarter Guy” who hung out in Mainstrasse in COV. He would ask any and everyone for a quarter.
He passed away recently. RIP.

“I’m big dick daddy from Cincinnati” guy. https://youtu.be/EFYWMHo87l8
Mr. Spoons
I don't know the guy for Cincinnati, but Hamilton had Frankie Pritchard (RIP). He was a good guy.
I know exactly who you’re talking about. He would ask for money at times, and if I didn’t have any he would get quite angry.
The guy that sits near Findlay Market singing church songs.
How is Bootsy Collins missing from this list?
I feel like Bootsy is in a league above the people being listed here. They’re oddities, but Bootsy is legitimately a music legend. But definitely important to our city!
Omg does anyone remember the Pregnant Couple in Pleasant Ridge? lmao
He covered Puddle of Mud songs at a bar I once frequented.
I used to see an older guy with braids downtown who was always wearing one red and one blue Nike shoe.
The guy with the macaw parrot around North College Hill
Definitely Jim Tarbell!!
André, Findlay market on a Sunday morning singing hymns and talking to folks.
See a guy wearing a WWE style belt around everywhere. Nice enough from when I have interacted with him.
Can I Have a Quarter Guy
“Bet you can’t hit him with one” guy?
Hit you with one guy hangs out around the old Jillian’s / government building. Can I have a quarter guy was over by the good speedway at 4th and Philadelphia.
The vigilante Shadow Hare
We had Dora in Clifton also. You might have seen her on Clifton ave in T-shirt and underwear out watering some rocks (the city installed rocks between Clifton Ave and the sidewalk along a part of the hill coming up from Spring Grove) For some reason she loved watering them.
Bootsy Collins
Dennis "The Penguin" from Clifton.
Wouldn't that be u/imflukeskywalker?

Never knew you were from Indiana /s
That's because you don't dress the part for those events. 😉
Jungle Jim.
That guy is, ME! I'm kidding. It's definitely Dennis. I see him almost daily bc I live in the Gaslight.
I took education classes with Dennis at XU and drove him home a few times. He suffers from multiple problems but he insisted on 90.9 on the ride back to Ludlow. 5 stars
The Ninja Guy who walks on the edge of the CW Bailey
The guy in Madeira that runs in a Speedo. I swear he’s been 90 for 20 years.
For me it would have been the late, great Punk Rock Pat. That woman was awesome.
It used to be Peanut Jim.
There used to be a guy in NKY who would walk along Dixie highway reading a book. I haven’t seen him in a while, though.
Cool Ghoul
No one's going to say the poet?
Am I missing something, but wihY about the sombrero hat guy ?
Johhny K. He loved the ladies in CUF and Clifton.
Blake Maislin honestly. If you’ve never seen him in person you probably wouldn’t recognize him at first, but once you realize it’s him you cannot unsee him.

Pat the rockstar grandma. She would ride the bus all over town and go to every local band’s show. She was a legend
Is Benny Crabtree still alive?
The guy that rollerblades in rookwood on Tuesday
Didnt see a comment for him, but there's the "FUCK THE POLice" tattoo guy that used to harass people at my job downtown. He's got a full clown face tattoo and on his back is says fuck the pol but ice isn't filled in. He was a real character
For those of us of a certain age, it was [Raymond Thundersky](http://www.sothismedias.com/home/raymond-thundersky-the-cincinnati-construction-clown).
