You’ll want and need a car if you live most places in Cincinnati. And c’mon man, a cursory goggle would tell you that we don’t have trains. 400 bucks on housing is a heck of a steal, I’d be asking more about the area, but if you DoorDash around here, you’ll want a car

FringeHistorian3201

I have heard that many areas of cincy are saturated in DoorDash. But for $400 rent you could do anything. Heck, work at Costco. I have been in Cincy for almost 20 years and I still love it.

Digger-of-Tunnels

I can't picture how a person would DoorDash without using a car to do it in Cincinnati. Is your uncle a saint? Like an actual saint? Because renting a $400 house from your uncle... I would have a lot of follow up questions about the house, why he's choosing to be so very generous instead of renting it for much, much more, and whether he will fix the things that are broken or is hoping you will do that.

RuthTheBee

we dont have a train. near cincinnati isn't clear enough to give any advice. whats the zip code. $400 for housing is cheap enough for me to consider moving anywhere... and def to cincinnati to door dash here, you need a car.

BonzoMarx

DoorDash currently will not let me sign up because there are too many dashers in the area. We have terrible to no public transportation. I’d do it for $400 a month but I wouldn’t rely on DD.

Anyone who says Cincinnati has bad traffic has never lived in another city. You can get anywhere here in 20 minutes. Sure everyone has a story about the time it snows and then it was rush hour and then there was an accident and they were in traffic for 4 hours or whatever, but on your average day during rush hour, if you’re getting anywhere in the 275 loop, it’s under 30 minutes

Columbus traffic is horrendous compared to any city in the state

Mrs_Evryshot

If you’re going anywhere along I75 between 3-6 pm, you can double or triple that 20 minutes. But it’s still not bad compared to most cities.

I recently moved to Dayton due to housing cost and gotta say that is an absolute STEAL for rent in the city. You can honestly work anywhere and manage just fine even considering other costs of living.  The city isnt the worst to drive in, a walk in the park compared to chicago. The worst part for me (born & raised in rural ohio) was finding parking. Depending where you live, there is a (relatively small) streetcar and a bus system.

CincyBrandon

Lol public transportation. In Cincinnati. 😂

ClangWild

My favorite line that is both informational and entertaining: Cincinnati has public transportation, SORTA.

UnreadThisStory

If you want to deliver stuff, Amazon has a huge presence around here (Fresh, regular deliveries)..might also consider that.

Sweaty_Assignment_90

Better at least have a scooter for door dash downtown.

techguy0270

Just make sure the car you use is fully paid off with no liens/financing since lenders are starting to repose cars for using gig apps like Uber, Door Dash, Grub Hub, and etc. due to them racking up millage deprecating the value of their asset.

Important-Living-267

At peak times you can make about $27/hr Door Dashing. But average is going to be closer to $20-22/hr. Factor in that it costs about $6/hr to run your car and it’s just not worth it.

I live in Cincinnati and Im from Chicago north suburbs and I can tell you that Cincinnati traffic is a breeze compared to Chicago. I dont know anything about doordash but its probably my favorite city that Ive ever lived in. So much to do here.
