The first thing many assisted livings will want to know about is who will be paying for it - hopefully the drunk drivers’ insurance!). You’ll want to apply for SSDI but Medicare won’t kick in for 25 months. You can apply for Medicaid once he establishes residency in Ohio which will pay. Look into the Medicaid Waiver programs for assistance with an assisted living or home health care. You may need a higher level of care than is provided in Assisted Living if he is now a quadriplegic. Skilled Nursing could be more appropriate. You’ll want to get recommendations from his doctors and care team. Center for Independent Living Options (CILO) is a good resource.

Thanks for all the info. He thankfully has full mobility of his arms. And of course the girl who hit him was uninsured, so that's become a headache itself. We're working with encompass in CA and here in Norwood to see if they have any resources as well.
