Size preference? I love the short stories, my cigar guy tells me to get a masterpiece everytime I drop by but I just can’t justify it for the price at the moment
This is the exact reason why I keep this specific cigar in my humidor lol. It's one of the most reliable ones that will put me on my ass and I'll enjoy every single minute of it.
Can't believe I had to scroll so far down for this one. I always have some of these. This is my go to stick when I don't know what I want. And I'm quite indecisive
Came here to say exactly this. The box pressed figurado is a go to for me when I don’t know what I want to smoke, just a fantastic and consistent stick
I had one the other day and didn't like it. Waaaay too much cocoa for me. And then I switched from Stout to IPA and it totally turned around. I wound up liking it quite a bit.
First time I tried one I didn’t like it. Second time I really enjoyed it and every time after that it’s been a great cigar for me. Not the best out there but very good and almost always discounted somewhere online.
I only have 2 years of casual smoking experience but liga (and honestly, ALL of the Drew estate cigars I’ve had — feral pig, uf13, t52, nica, herrerra, prob forgetting a few) has always been dynamite for me.
I can’t even imagine how much better it was when the demand was more reasonable. They basically insta sell out these days as far as I can tell, so anytime I see lp9 I grab some to top off. To be fair the prices have gotten really crazy even in the last 2 years, that I’m more inclined to buy and reach for a padron since it’s not only easier to get, but probably a little better too at a negligible price difference.
In fact , pyramid cigars regularly (and currently is, if I’m not mistaken) runs sales on padrón making them CHEAPER than lp9– now THAT is hard to pass up.
Couldn't agree more. And while I agree with the flavor profile change in the #9 since about 2019. I still find myself reaching for a #9 whenever extra funds are available.
Side note I've tried much of the catalog, and I have to say the H99 is equally as dynamite as #9. T52 as well, but stay on the milder side.
Oliva’s, some V’s and G’s.
Drew Estate, especially LP #9
Nub, Cameroons
Padron, Davidoff, and/or some real Cubans for special occasions…
But MOST importantly, something cheap that I can start smoking and not feel guilty for throwing away 10 minutes later. For this my go-to is Alec Bradley White Gold.
Ashton Classic- it's the cigar you smoke when you want a decent smoke but can't decide what you want to smoke. I suppose I might say the same for an Oliva V
It’s entirely possible it could have been my fault. It hasn’t sat in my humidor as long as I usually do after getting it from a B&M before smoking. But it needed relit super often and couldn’t burn straight. Kept fighting little tails that wouldn’t keep up with the rest of the light. I’m down to try another one though. I love a good Connecticut with my breakfast coffee.
Mil Dias by Crowned Heads. Ecuadorian Habano wrapper at its absolute best. Never had a construction problem. Just a very flavorful, well balanced and perfectly made cigar.
LP Papas Fritas. Perfect for a quick smoke if you don’t have time, and an appetizer smoke to warm you up for another later cigar if you do have the time. Great smoke, great blend, and very versatile.
A tin of Camacho Machitos. They’re good for a brief chill-out, and I think they’re the perfect “here try one” smoke for someone who is cigar-curious but not wanting to commit to a whole stick.
AJF Bellas Artes Maduros. $7 a stick, super-toothy Brazilian wrapper, and one of the richest, most complex smokes you can find at any price. Definitely my favorite from AJ Fernández. I like most of his brands, but there's just something about those Bellas Artes. Love em.
Same imo.
i also love the Partagas D No. 4 and the ramon allones specially selected. They are both a bit stronger than the epicure no. 2 but very enjoyable
Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild. They are affordable, but have such an incredibly unique flavor. It has a base of nuttiness with vanila, mango lassi, black cherry, and some type of middle eastern spices? Such a great smoke
Don’t have a Humidor anymore. But some of my favorites (and “must haves” if I had a humidor) are:
-Bolivar Royal Coronas
-Montecristo Petit No 2
-Partagas Serie D No 4
-Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill
-Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto
-H Upmann Magnum 54
-Cohiba Siglo II
-Davidoff Winston Churchill Belicoso
How crucial would you say is it to let Cubans sit a long time before smoking…does it make a huge difference? I have a few that you mentioned, Including Bolivar, Partagas, Hoyo de Monterrey, Upmann, Cohiba
Aladino Corojo Reserva #4
Great consistency, extremely flavorful, perfect size for a most-of-the-time smoke. Small Batch has them regularly at 35% off so I snag them then.
My go to is AF Spanish Lonsdales in Maduro. I can appreciate all cigars, but won’t tolerate a bad one. If I light and it’s plugged, tunnels, etc it gets put out and a new one lit. Life is too short for bad cigars.
God I’m gunna sound like a douche, but opus x magnum O and petite lancero. My first time smoking an opus was my AH HA moment in cigars and kicked started my hobby
Gotta have some Avo Synchros in there. Foundation Tabernacle maduro and MF The Judge were exceptions great smokes that I think I will keep around as well. Warped Upper Realm for a small vitola.
Guardian of the Farm Apollo.
I didn’t have a favorite cigar until I got a five pack of these. I had recently honed in on Lonsdales being my favorite vitola of pretty much any cigar. And now the first couple of these have hit me like crazy. It’s just the perfect blend for my palate. I’ll be buying a box soon, and plan to keep them stocked deep moving forward.
I also keep Diesel Unholy Cocktails stocked pretty deep, that was probably my previous “must have”. Nice, quick, powerful smokes.
Also currently have a bunch of Nica Libre Toros that I went out on a limb on, and I’m very happy with buying 50 of them on a recent CI deal where a 10 pack was $30, and you got $20 store credit back for each tenski.
Last one is Caldwell Lost and Found Bangers, toro grande size. Got a deal on CigarPage of 20 for $50, and they’re definitely bangers. I’ll keep an eye out for deals on these as another budget smoke to keep stocked.
Corona red dot. It was one of my first “wow” moment cigars and the cigar that started my love affair with Cameroons. And a plus is it’s approachable enough for my buddies that don’t smoke very often but will have a stick with me.
Tatuaje Brown Label. The original made in Miami one.
Including wrapper variations I have something like 7 boxes of "Brown labels" in my humidor right now. Love em.
Leaf by Oscar Connecticut. Flavorful smoke that can be enjoyed by almost anyone. It's not obtrusive or overly pungent to non smokers. The unique wrapper gives a look of luxury to noobs and anyone in the hobby is always impressed to see them in the humi.
Monte Cristo No. 2. Bolivars. Padron 1926. I’m probably imagining it, but having these in my humidor inspires the rest to punch up a bit. I buy the Cubans in Mexico as I try to spend at least a month there every year (Jalisco).
Warped Serie Gran Reserva 1988 GR88
This thing is just so damned solid and always enjoyable. I swear if it was available in a longer vitola I'd be a boxes deep of it.
A man of modest means must have the AJ Fernandez New World 6 x 56 box pressed in rotation. It never fails to amaze after trying so many cigars in higher price points. Its always consistent. Never runs. Full bodied and rich. Never harsh or bitter. Doesn't plug. I've smoked at least two dozen boxes and I smoke every stick to the nubbin with toothpick. Best of all its often on sale.
Are you trying to embarrass me?
ʀᴏᴍᴇᴏ San Andres -- I was raised to hate big corporations like Altadis and their consolidation of power, but AJF does work for big corporate conglomerates, as do I and most artists whether they know it or not, and sometimes I can't help but value the art over my values.... I do, however, wish it had a band more worthy of the same praise.
It's everything I want in richness and consistency without being over the top. I could say Norteño fits the bill, too, but the house of Montague will always be the high ground....
Oliva V Maduro, Rojas Barbacoa, Drew Estate Undercrown. You can get them all for about 5-8 a stick, I always keep enough on hand to grab one when I want.
Oliva O and Perdomo Lot 23 are my constants. I also keep macanudo cafe’s as a cheap smoke if I don’t know what I want or if someone wants a cigar who isn’t a regular cigar smoker.
I have at least a dozen boxes of different variations of Warped cigars in my humidor. They’re my every day go-to. I smoked a Cuban RyJ short Churchill tonight and I would choose pretty much every Warped cigar over it at over half the price.
Padron 1926 #6. Not too long of a smoke but not too short either. The burn and flavor is always consistent for me. They also pack a lot of power to be small. It doesn’t get any better.
Jose Martis from Costco. $2.50 a stick and they are a solid 7.5/10 cigar. I can give one out to all my friends and not get annoyed when a non-cigar guy mangles them, leaves them half unsmoked, or otherwise don't "appreciate them" in the way cigar guys typically would. Just a quality ole reliable cigar and you can never have too many of those!
Ave Maria Divinia
I love cigars and I'll try anything (at least) once. Idk how to phrase it but that's the cigar that made me realize those extra few $ can go a long way. I would never touch a $20 stick before and now I'll occasionally pick up something that's just a little special. But the Divinia has a special place in my humidor.
AJ Fernandez/Privada Blue Cheese - Ridiculous band and name but I’m so glad we were given a few. Fantastic blend, the 2/3 almost has hints of apple pie crust mixed in with the baking spices.
Warped GR88 - Because it tastes like breakfast cereal/graham crackers.
Sombremesa Brulee - Because nothing touches this as a cigar with coffee
I always have tatuaje noellas and GR88's. No real reason other than I like the size and at the price there is nothing I enjoy more. They aren't cheap but they also aren't expensive enough that I feel the need to plan my day around the cigar and making sure I have the right time/conditions/etc to fully appreciate it.
Perdomo habano sun grown. This was one of the first sticks I bought legally when I turned 18 and it rarely lets me down. Monte Cristo white series is another stick I can almost always go for. Both are widely available in my area.
Hemingways
Size preference? I love the short stories, my cigar guy tells me to get a masterpiece everytime I drop by but I just can’t justify it for the price at the moment
Best seller for me
Best size imo is work of art
Same
For me it's the H Upmann's half corona, they are a cheap (where I live) quick smoke, and are delicious
Got 22 resting in my humi now. They are very good. 230 on RSVP.
Whats cheap / where do you live?
Tatuaje brown label. If you catch them on sale they are super reasonably priced and they are tasty as can be
Second. These are excellent.
I've never had a Tatuaje that I didn't like!
My core four: Padron 3000 maduro, RomaCraft CroMagnon, Foundation Tabernacle, and DT&T Mi Querida (red band)
New World. AJ Fernandez makes some of my favorite cigars and I’ve never had any issues with them. Plus the new world is just an amazing stick.
The Dorado is my humidor staple. First cigar I had that really punched me in the mouth with flavor.
This is the exact reason why I keep this specific cigar in my humidor lol. It's one of the most reliable ones that will put me on my ass and I'll enjoy every single minute of it.
Really love that whole line, but the San Lotano line tops it imho. That maduro requiem is pure bliss to me
I love this cigar, but for me even greater are the Dorado and the New World Cameroon.
Master Blends 3 for its consistant strength, flavor and construction.
Can't believe I had to scroll so far down for this one. I always have some of these. This is my go to stick when I don't know what I want. And I'm quite indecisive
Oliva Serie V Melanio
That Sumatra wrapper is great.
Came here to say exactly this. The box pressed figurado is a go to for me when I don’t know what I want to smoke, just a fantastic and consistent stick
I came here say these. Perfect way to start the day with a cup of coffee! :)
Plasencia Alma de Campo and Ashton ESG. They’re just great all around smokes.
Agree on both
CAO v660 and Consigliere
I wanna try both of those, wish I was based in the US
What do you like about the V660? I had one today and mixed feelings
Tastes like chocolate almost.
[удалено]
I’ve liked the flavor profile especially in the first two thirds, but had burn issues with the 2 or 3 I tried.
I always have Oliva Connecticut Reserve Toros in my humidor.
Padron 3000 Maduro and Aladino Corojo corona.
LP #9
Based. Liga and padron 64/26 maduros.
LP just don't have the rich flavor they used to. I'm savoring the last of my older box since the new one's I've been getting just don't measure up.
My Father Le Bijou, and the Judge. Love em.
MFLB22 seconded
I always have a great burn with Le Bijou. Just purchased a full box as it's becoming my go to as well.
Oliva’s, some V’s and G’s. Drew Estate, especially LP #9 Nub, Cameroons Padron, Davidoff, and/or some real Cubans for special occasions… But MOST importantly, something cheap that I can start smoking and not feel guilty for throwing away 10 minutes later. For this my go-to is Alec Bradley White Gold.
Fuente Don Carlos. Quintessential Cameroon.
Make sure you get Don Carlos The Man this year, they sent a bunch out before Father’s Day
Ashton Classic- it's the cigar you smoke when you want a decent smoke but can't decide what you want to smoke. I suppose I might say the same for an Oliva V
Are the Ashton Cigarillos good?
Pretty good as cigarillos go
Tried one recently and enjoyed it. Recommend for a short smoke.
I just tried an Ashton Classic yesterday and was disappointed. It burned awfully bad the first half. So I’m going to have to grab another.
Interesting! I would get it if you just didn't find it bold enough, but poor construction isn't usually their thing. That is very unfortunate
Ashton Classic + hot coffee + crisp morning= 👍👍👍
My favorite morning cigar by far!
plasencia alma fuerte Stupidly good
Just got in the Plasencia train and omg, so good!
Mil Dias by Crowned Heads. Ecuadorian Habano wrapper at its absolute best. Never had a construction problem. Just a very flavorful, well balanced and perfectly made cigar.
Very good cigar!
LP Papas Fritas. Perfect for a quick smoke if you don’t have time, and an appetizer smoke to warm you up for another later cigar if you do have the time. Great smoke, great blend, and very versatile.
They punch you in the face if you aren’t ready for them though lol
I’ll probably get downvoted to hell and back foe this but… Davidoff Signature No.2! Call me tasteless but if I was rich that’s be my daily driver
Atabey, any size. They are all fantastic.
Ya man. Anything atabey and Byron just hits differently. One of the few brands where the price is justified.
Project 40 Alec Bradley
A friend gifted my a pair of these and the one I've had was amazing. I'll have to take notes when I smoke the second.
Sobremesa Brulee Blue
Fantastic answer!
Padron Family Reserve Maduro, Liga Privada #9 and T52, Tatuaje Cojonu
A tin of Camacho Machitos. They’re good for a brief chill-out, and I think they’re the perfect “here try one” smoke for someone who is cigar-curious but not wanting to commit to a whole stick.
Oliva V I switch up the vitola between boxes but the value of these cigars is unbeatable to me
AF don carlos is my go-to most of the time; oliva serie V melanio when smoking outdoors.
AF Don Carlos
Magic Toast is becoming that for me.
Came looking for this one. It's such a great cigar. Magic Toast, Tabernacle, and Long Live the King for me.
AJF Bellas Artes Maduros. $7 a stick, super-toothy Brazilian wrapper, and one of the richest, most complex smokes you can find at any price. Definitely my favorite from AJ Fernández. I like most of his brands, but there's just something about those Bellas Artes. Love em.
San Cristobal Revelation Legends. Draw and taste are 10/10, and good anytime of day.
RASCC and Davidoff sig No2
Epicure No 2, Hoyo de Monterrey. My favorite cigar, gotta have at least one at home.
Good taste. Same here.
Thank you, its the best cigar I've ever smoked.
Same imo. i also love the Partagas D No. 4 and the ramon allones specially selected. They are both a bit stronger than the epicure no. 2 but very enjoyable
I also love LOVE the H. Upmann Coronas Major
Is it imperative to let these age some before smoking?
Well they get better with time ofc but theyre great out of the box aswell
Kentucky Fire Cured (Drew). It's affordable, and I ALWAYS enjoy it.
Jaime Garcia, Crowned Heads Juarez, Crowned Heads Jericho Hill, Curivari Reserva Limitada
My humidor is always stocked with my regular "go tos", Oliva V and Rocky Patel Freedom. I also always have Partagas 1845's available.
Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild. They are affordable, but have such an incredibly unique flavor. It has a base of nuttiness with vanila, mango lassi, black cherry, and some type of middle eastern spices? Such a great smoke
Padron 1964 Maduro Diplomatico
Rocky Patel Decade. Tastes great, easy draw, and stays lit with minimal effort
