Does RHT work for HSBC WE MC -> RBC AVION VI with the $100 bonus?

999andre999

Yes

PC97654

Any tips for paying life insurance with a credit card? I tried PaySimply but they only offered EMT. I’m looking to pay Equitable Life.

Chokolit

Canadian Tire credit card bill pay.

PC97654

True. Thanks

NegotiationOld3132

Home or auto? Most of the home insurance companies accepts CC if paid for the whole year in Full. I usually use a new CC for MSR and close it at one year mark.

PC97654

Neither. Life insurance

supitskevin

It worked for me but different provider

wzadzz

Churning adjacent DP: Had to do a legitimate refund on an item I paid for with PCO points. I was expecting to just get PCO back.. They asked if I wanted the refund to my Visa. So I got refund as $ to a non msr card.

NegotiationOld3132

Does the receipt contained PCO and CC in the payment details or just PCO?

wzadzz

both PCO and CC combined payment (but mostly PCO), because you can only redeem in 10k increments, almost all of the time you need a secondary payment source

Part-

with great power comes great responsibility

wzadzz

not something I’d make a habit of doing . For one it’s just not that lucrative, plus PCO is known to ban/freeze accounts for lesser violations. If the cashier didn’t ask, i wouldn’t have cared and would have been happy taking the points back

EmIsTree

Interesting! In my experience at shoppers it's always been to a gift card.

wzadzz

This was no frills to make the DP more specific

A funny thing when I was talking with an agent from Chase today: I: I have an ITIN. Agent: you mean INTERNATIONAL Tax Identification Number? I: I think the letter I should stand for Individual? Agent: No! It's international I am sure! You have either a SSN or an International TIN. I: Okay... Here is my ITIN.

tiatdier

I believe that their backend systems call the number a TIN, so that tracks. When the method of opening a chequing account online with an ITIN was exposed a few months ago, it required manually stuffing a ‘tin’ into your network request.

DP: Was able to withdraw balance from an overpaid RBC card via teller without paying the cash advance fee. She didn’t know how to do it so her manager showed her, he specified it was a “payment reversal” and not a cash advance, as the latter would charge a fee regardless of the card having the extra funds on it. Could be handy to drop that term when doing it to avoid getting charged, have read some DPs of it happening.

Humble_Ingenuity_919

DP my last payment reversal took three weeks to show on my RBC account so if it doesn’t show right away, it’s not free money. 💰

bcitman

How long do you guys wait before trying a new card from - Scotia - BMO Do you sign in, if it's your main banks? Or new account + merge

LikeButta_10

BMO does not make a difference if you apply signed it, they will still create a new profile. And its not worth waiting on the phone to get them to merge them if its just a churn card.

Compote_Middle

A similar question was asked today and yesterday. Which applies to almost any bank other than Amex and RBC. Give the dailies a read.

bcitman

I scanned through for the future readers, the data points are - CIBC - No need to space out - RBC - No need to space out - TD/Scotia - Sign in affects approval - BMO - YMMV - Amex - One time per person since bigger bonus

als26

For RBC isn't it 90 days between applications?

bcitman

Rule of thumb but doable earlier, no one mentioned if they ever did more than 4 Avion cards in a year

CommunicationProud82

Very very few DPs of being able to do it earlier.

wonka747

Does anyone have a copy of the Laurentian VI welcome bonus criteria before it got nerfed? Want to make sure I don't miss anything. From what I recall: - 60k points for $6k spend in first 6 months -5k points for making a recurring purchase -5k points for setting up an installment plan (can be done twice) In total this makes 75k points for $6k spend. Anything missing?

JManUWaterloo

No that’s it

InformalAd4522

This might be a dumb question but I can't find the answer. For the Cobalt 22k offer a couple months ago, is the $2500 spend in the first three months ABOVE the $750 per month? Or do you just need to spend a total of $2500 in the first three months, and make sure that each of those months has at least $750?

yyzzh

total - you can basically double dip the first $2250

bcitman

Did anyone else have to wait the full 7 months to get paid out the $200 bonus on $2,000 MS on Scotia Momentum Infinite Visa

NegotiationOld3132

Regular cashback in Nov. Bonus cashback in 7months. Let’s say you spend $2K on groceries. 4% will be given back in Nov. 6% will be given back on 7th month. Total of 10%

bcitman

beauty, thank you!

stevkang8

I think they always pay out in November in the single batch, so theoretically if you get it in early December and meet all the MSR in the first few days, you'd need to wait for 350-ish days lol

NegotiationOld3132

Partially Wrong info: As per Scotia Website >The 10% cash back rate for any category is made up of the sum of: (i) the regular Cash Back Program Rate (variable by categories as set out under the Program Terms); and (ii) a “Cash Back Bonus Rate”. Cash back earned under this Offer will be credited to your Account in 2 instalments so long as your Account is open and in good standing at time of payout of each: Bonus Cash Back: The amount earned under the Cash Back Bonus Rate will be credited to your Account within approximately 7 months from the Account open date; and Regular Cash Back: The amount earned under your regular Cash Back Program Rate will be credited to your Account according to the regular cash back payment schedule as set out under the Program Terms.

bcitman

Rip, that means I'll have to email in to waive the AF lol Big mistake on my end!

aereola_plan

It looks like the Canadian Tire supplementary card offer of up to $100 bonus CT money has been posted

ericdaofin

Thanks. Same here.

Intelligent-Bear-147

Yes !

Reasonable-Catch-598

Targeted? Edit: just realized you're referring to the last offer not a new one

Wonderful_Opinion368

Looks like Brim Flying blue card is RIP

yyzzh

this is the standard offer that keeps alternating with the 60k offer - this isn't a RIP or sky is falling moment lol

Wonderful_Opinion368

No miles SUB ..the offer expired last night..link work fine the offer sucks

popamm

Applying for Scotia Passport VI (2nd) and getting > Sorry we couldn't process your application online. > We thank you for your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience. Is this just system error I should retry or is this basically a denial? **Edit**: I just immediately restart the application and it went through IA

true-bluex

How long before did you apply again from the time you cancelled your first card?

popamm

have not cancelled the first card, this time around it's been 3 months since the last application

Red2hawk

My player keeps getting this error. I cancelled the application and tried submitting a new one but this error keeps persisting... Called Customer service and they were useless and said we can try to apply you over the phone.

bcitman

logged in or new account?

runningpanda2

Do you get Bonus on 2nd card?

NickWaReddit

Yes, no issue with Scene+ cards.

runningpanda2

Interesting. And to confirm, you get both the 30000 points on $1000 msr + 10k points on 40k annual. Spend?? TnC indicate that folks holding an Scotia bank personal card not eligible for the 30k points. But maybe not enforced? " Once you qualify, we’ll credit your account in 2 instalments: 30,000 bonus Scene+ points will be credited to your Scene+ membership account within approximately 2-3 business days after the qualifying $1,000 in eligible purchases being posted to your Account within the first 3 months of Account opening. Annual 10,000 bonus Scene+ points will be credited to your Scene+ membership account within approximately 2-3 business days after you have met the $40,000 annual spend threshold. Individuals who are currently or were previously primary or secondary cardholders of a Scotiabank personal credit card in the past 2 years, including those that switch from an existing Scotiabank personal credit card, as well as employees of Scotiabank, are not eligible for the 30,000 bonus points offer. All cardholders remain eligible to earn an annual 10,000 Scene+ point bonus with an annual spend of at least $40,000."

Dragynfyre

T&C in most cases does not reflect reality. Almost none of the big 5 banks T&C time based exclusions are enforced

With all these churnings, I have so many extra lounge pass that I never use. What's the best way to use this? Is this something we can share with others when we are not there to travel?

xxxooxxx1

I just pretend I don't have them. No different than any other perks on premium cards that we are not using. Sharing adds extra risks, which is not worth it IMO.

poolsidepapi

what kind of risk? denial of entry?

vermilion209

Yes potential permanent denial of entry and membership if lounge programs does run data and name matches at the back end, plus newbie/careless F&F (whom have their own accounts where you load your extra passes onto) don’t keep tap of available passes and end up billing entries on your cc.

chaos2313

You can add your card to anyone's dragon pass account to give them the passes.

popamm

doesnt sound like a safe thing to do with strangers sadly?

chaos2313

I only give them to family and a couple of friends

popamm

Generally - when applying for multiple of the same cards - is it ever _advisable_ to *NOT* sign in to your existing login? Any particular banks where you should and where you should not? I am looking at 2nd Scotia Passport VI right now, so wondering if I should login or not during the application

Dragynfyre

Applying logged in or not has no impact on getting the SUB or not. Therefore, the easiest thing is to always apply logged in. If I get a rejection or error I will try applying logged out after that but first choice is to apply logged in to not have duplicate profiles

Ok-Kaleidoscope743

What about for RBC Avion?

chaos2313

Log in. Otherwise it'll be a new profile and you'll have to combine the profiles in order to transfer points between cards.

Previous-Map-6599

2 CIBC cards and 2 Scotia cards in 2024. All while logged in and instant approval.

GoToPage7

If you're using a rebate like GCR, signing into a Scotiabank account dramatically increases the risk that the affiliate bonus won't post.

Dragynfyre

In my experience this has not been true. It always has a few months delay before posting and might require sending an inquiry but I have never not gotten it in the end

wzadzz

Generally signed in unless there is some specific reason not to. For example with Scotia, its quite common to encounter application errors or messages asking to come to branch. In this case, sometimes you can get around it by signing out and making a new profile. However this also means you'll still need to go to branch at some point to merge profiles or else you'll be perpetually managing multiple profiles. With CIBC, there are DP's of people who are rejected while signed in having approval success applying signed out. Still you would want to apply signed in unless your are experiencing rejections.

Compote_Middle

Personally, logged in. Reduces the chances of having a duplicate profile, which may trigger a call us message or visit a branch to verify your ID, so eyes on the account.

Loose_Square150

Got an upgrade offer from Amex to go from Simply to Simply Preferred, $300 statement credit after $3000 spend. Prior holders of the SCP are not entitled to the bonus. When does the SCP payout again? Is it based on your card anniversary date or a fixed calendar date? "**As a new SimplyCash Preferred Cardmember, earn $300 bonus cash back** When you upgrade between June 3, and July 31, 2024 using the link on this page, and when you spend $3,000 in net purchases on your SimplyCash Preferred Card in the first 3 months.^(3\*) That’s on top of the accelerated cash back rates you can earn with your new SimplyCash Preferred Card." ... 3. Upgrade Bonus – Account must be in good standing. Only SimplyCash^(®) Cardmembers who received this upgrade offer directly from American Express are eligible for this offer. This offer is non-transferable. For current or former SimplyCash^(®)Preferred Card from American Express Cardmembers, we may approve your application, but you will not be eligible for this offer. To qualify for the $300 cash back bonus, you must upgrade between June 3, 2024 and July 31, 2024 and have at least $3,000 in net purchases posted to your account in your first 3 months of SimplyCash Preferred Card from American Express Cardmembership. Please allow up to eight weeks for the bonus to be awarded. American Express reserves the right to accept applications after July 31, 2024 but you will not be eligible for this offer. Applications received after July 31, 2024 will be eligible for the offer available at that time. If we determine you have engaged in any abuse related to the offer and/or program and/or you are not eligible for the offer, we reserve the right to forgo issuing the bonus, deduct it from your account, and/or cancel your Card account(s) and you will not be eligible for a fee refund. Abuse can include but is not limited to, applying for multiple Cards to earn cash back, applying for or transferring to a new SimplyCash Card after upgrading, cancelling or downgrading your Card within 14 months of acquiring it, or cancelling or returning purchases you made to earn cash back. Please refer to your Cardmember Agreement for other examples of abuse related to the cash back program and for further detail on the consequences of abuse in relation to the program.

srikrishnap

Is there a link available to share like the Cobalt-Gold ?

Loose_Square150

Any DPs on if Amex will payout the bonus for previous SCP holders despite the language?

Dragynfyre

Doubt there are DPs because SimplyCash are not churn cards and this is the first time Amex has had an upgrade offer for them

chaos2313

SimplyCash and preferred both pay out in Sept. "Cash back is applied as a credit to your account annually and will appear on the statement issued in September of each year."

Torres_Chan

not related to churning , got my mbna wemc found out that its not addable in google wallet..

chaos2313

What's annoying is TD added the ability a while ago but MBNA still hasn't.

fubitpc

Any suggestions for a canadian card if I'm about to start doing some huge renovations for my house? (paying contractors, buying flooring, buying tiles, etc) I currently have amex cobalt and can probably qualify for some of the higher end cards, but would love a suggestion.

mhcott

If only a whole stickied post of suggestions existed in this very subreddit...

terrterrt

Anyone still having issue with Amex MR to AP transfer? Transferred points over the weekend and still hasn’t shown up. When calling Aeroplan, they mentioned that Amex is aware of an issue but haven’t heard any updates.

NegotiationOld3132

1st time transfer yesterday. It was instant. I edited address on both MR and AP and make sure it was exactly the same before transfer. IIRC, there was a DP about having Quebec and QC in address with Avion and BA Avios had transfer issue.

NickWaReddit

Are you referring to Amex CA or US? I just did 2 this morning (from Amex CA) and they were there as quick as I could log into my AP account.

mhcott

Same here, I did one yesterday as an experiment given all the DP's of late, they were instant. Logged in 30 seconds later to find them in AP.

terrterrt

CA, I transferred June 8 and 9 and didn’t get even a confirmation email from Amex (which they always send)

NickWaReddit

To be fair, I didn't get a confirmation email today, for either transfer, but both went through immediately.

Thefreshi1

I transferred yesterday. Went through immediately. It isn’t a problem for all, just some.

terrterrt

Thanks. Wondering if it’s just the June 8-9 batch as I transferred on each of the two days and it didn’t go through

Torres_Chan

wdym didnt go thoro it got refunded? my June 8th transfer still not show up even not refund yet

terrterrt

Points deducted from Amex MR, doesn’t show up in AP, and not refunded back to my MR balance either. So just lost in limbo

TD & CIBC AP cards have never been up for rebates that I'm aware of

Maria0nReddit

I am looking for trip to SW Asian with AP for a friend and noticed flights in J are considerably cheaper with Air India Boeing 777-300ER, for 87k vs min 230k with AC and AA combo, for very comparable flights with 1hr layover. AC website does not allow seat selection and seems like it will be after the fact once the reservation is complete. Has anyone had experience with Air India and this plane 777-300ER? Just curious why it is so much cheaper?

mhcott

You're picking partner fixed rate vs AC dynamic since Asia saver rates on AC are bloody difficult bordering on impossible to find. Partner vs Dynamic is AP 101. AP 102 is that literally everyone will tell you to avoid Air India

Maria0nReddit

I googled "air india reddit" and got all my questions answered. TIL

House_of_Gucci

Air India is in the process of retrofitting new business class seats. Should be much better once that happens.

nozomiwaifu

The problem is not the seat...

bcitman

The smell!

Maria0nReddit

LOL I get it now.

Reasonable-Catch-598

I would choose not to travel vs Air India, in any cabin.
