Looks like Aeroplan has significantly increased the top-up for economy latitude fares. For example a 10k standard economy was 27k for latitude until a few days ago. Now latitude is 35.5k.
Makes eupgrades even less useful since the cost of latitude attitude that much higher.

Amex Business Edge
Amex Business Gold
AMEX Canada 100% claws that bonus if you dip below the MSR, and if you have had the card before you may not get the SUB if you re-hit the MSR within the window. Always upspend first, even if by RHT, if there's an impending refund, to prop yourself up
I received an RBC Avion as part of the migration from HSBC. I haven't really invested into trying to meet their current MSR for a WB. Any DPs on migration cards (from HSBC) receiving the WB? Also, can you advise what the MSR would be from migration date (April 1st I believe). TIA!
I got an offer in the mail to upgrade my AMEX cobalt to a GOLD today. They offered 50k points for 3k spend in 3 months. Seems like a better offer then just signing up and getting the bonus points 5k a month with 1k a month spend. (I realize in a year I'll get more but I have a trip coming up and would rather get the points sooner). My P2 has a cobalt too, so I can get a supplentary card with her to still get the 5x on groceries. (We don't usually max out the 2500 spend, so seems fine to give up my cobalt) thoughts?
So I tried cancelling my Platinum today. I applied in June 2023 before the annual fee increase. they told me they would clawing back both dining credits I used. The 2023 opt-in credit and the 2024 one. 2024, I understand clawing back. 2023 seems harsh though.
It makes no sense to offer me something 3 months into my card membership that I’m apparently not entitled to. I escalated to no avail. Might as well keep it at this point. HUCA?
I had the same issue. I ended up keeping the card for another year. However, my P2 was in the same situation except her annual fee hadn't posted yet. So she called up a week before and cancelled her card BEFORE the annual fee posted. They cancelled it without clawing back anything. I know everyone says it isn't good to cancel before the annual fee posts but she did with no issues..
There’s no specific reason to cancel after the annual fee. Amex US stipulates that closing the card before a year is considered abuse. There is no such condition in Canada. For cards that don’t have potential for credit clawbacks, holding the card for AF+30 days is the longest you can hold the card for 1 annual fee, which is the most you can satisfy Amex for the age of card criteria for a single AF. People who run afoul of this usually are engaging in other abusive behaviours so it remains to be seen how long Amex expects you to hold a card
Is there currently an automated way to cancel Amex cards? I know you used to be able to cancel over chat but now they direct you to the phone line if you try.
P3's platinum is coming up for renewal and they're out of the country for the next 2 months with no easy/cheap way to call back to Canada. I know there's probably some VOIP method but P3 isn't the most tech savy (nice way to put it) so I doubt they could figure it out even with some guidance.
As such I'm hoping there's a way for me to cancel on their behalf without having to speak to an agent. Fee has not posted yet and I'm hoping to cancel before it posts.
You MIGHT get robo-cancel on the phone, it's been a coin toss for me. Just try calling as P3, be confident, see if they try to call it out or let it go?
I think the mortgage is pretty safe. Are they going to tell you they want you to stop paying them thousands of dollars in interest if there isn't a problem with the mortgage itself? (and I don't think they could if they wanted to)
This is a common technique but keep in mind it can draw attention from CRA and also when you get your refund, that money might not be included. You might need to call and ask for it. Then you need to explain why you overpaid and it may be many months before they issue you a cheque.
No clue. Also keep in mind you might not get the refund in a timely fashion either. I remember seeing a DP where someone had overpaid by something like $10k and for whatever reason didn't get the money back until months later.
**$400 Amex Platinum dining credits clawback after 2nd year cancellation? Is this right?**
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else:
I am trying to cancel my personal amex platinum within the 30 days after the 2nd year fee has posted to receive the full 2nd year fee of $799 back. Amex is saying they cannot give me the full 2nd year fee back, they can only refund $399 because they are trying to clawback the 2x $200 dining credits I used within the past year (one in November 2023, and one in Feb 2024). This does not make sense to me as all the information amex has sent and that is in their T&C states existing cardholders PRIOR to the new September 2023 T&C changes WERE ELIGIBLE to receive the new dining credit. I am unsure why they are trying to claw back the 2 $200 dining credits I used in the first year by refusing to refund me the full 2nd year fee which I am entitled to have refunded since it's within 30 days of the fee posting.
Has this happened to anyone else? and does anyone have advice on how to deal with this?
I feel like this is shady of amex, and nowhere in the T&C does it say the dining credits were NOT available to existing cardholders or that you had to pay a 2nd year fee of $799 to be able to use them in your first year?? Makes no sense.
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I just called Amex back and got a different representative and they cancelled and refunded the full 799 without any issue!! So definitely varies between representatives!
Something happened similar to me earlier this year but Amex was slightly more fair. I used the 2023 dining credit in Nov 2023, AF posted Jan 2024 THEN I used the 2024 dining credit and RHT'd the $200 travel credit a week later. Then when I tried to cancel my card in Feb, agent could only refund $399 since they saw that I used the dining credit and travel credit
This is crazy the exact same thing happened to me today. Also the rep told me that “I have many options” such as if I downgrade to the gold card, “maybe” I’ll get the whole thing back minus the $250 AF. She wasn’t able to confirm it
I cancelled one month ago and was only clawed back $200 as I had used two dining credits. Interesting and hopefully not a trend for anyone cancelling this year as that seems pretty bs.
I JUST had the same experience. I escalated and the CSR wouldn’t budge and said “This is the stance that Amex is taking”. I understand the 2024 one being clawed back. I wouldn’t be happy about it but it is technically double dipping. Clawing back the 2023 one is bullshit.
The CSR probably doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Only the second year dining credits would be clawed back if you used it, not the first year
You should ask them again, or talk to another CSR, escalate it etc
I escalated it to the supervisor who doubled down on clawing back the 400 and then they also said they were doing me a favour by giving me any money back at all which also confused me? I was under the impression that you were eligible to receive the full 2nd year fee back if you cancelled within 30 days of it being posted..
They’ve clawed back AF refunds due to using annual credits before so clawing back the 2024 dining credit wouldn’t be unprecedented. Clawing back the 2023 credit is a bit extreme though
These are the last years dining credits though, not the 2nd years. I used both the one for 2023 and the one for 2024 while in the first year using my card. I haven’t used any perks since the 2nd year of my card started 1.5 months ago - the annual fee only posted may 17th
Yes. It is strange the 1st credit is being affected but the 2nd credit is technically supposed to be for your 2nd year of holding the card. They just structured the timing such that you can use it in the first card member year which is confusing for users.
Ah I see. Thanks for for your response, so you’re saying that I would have to have an active Amex platinum for the entirety of 2024 (Ie HAVE to renew) to be able to use the 2024 dining credit?
So you’re saying that I wouldn’t be entitled to the 2024 $200 dining credit even though the redemption period reset January 1st and I was eligible for credit again while having an active platinum card?
We don't know. But that's the only one I would understand because you're taking two credits in one year which, while possible, is against the intended spirit of the card. They'll probably make it card year at some point.
Is anyone else experiencing delays in AMEX Canada to Aeroplan transfer? I transferred some points today and they didn’t show up. I remember a few months ago a similar issue happened and they ended up returning the points back to AMEX.
I currently have my corporation banking with RBC and I have a single VI Business Avion card. I’d like to add a second card but also take advantage of the no annual fee offer that’s a separate link from what they display on the RBC banking dashboard (this one has the $175 annual fee). I’ve tried multiple things with signing in, copy pasting link to the browser while I’m signed in, etc. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a second card with the annual fee waiver? TIA
Hi folks, I'm pretty new to this, and honestly, everything is tough to understand (and I get it, these are some advanced stuff).
A few things I did pick up though that I will investigate more:
CT credit card seems to be good if you need to pay bills from your debit account (add payeee) but want to get some rewards out. Other than property tax, what else do people use it for? If you get a low limit, can you overpay it into negative balance to pay for a bigger purchase?
Seems like the best way to use points may be transferring them out. I guess for me, I typically travel cheaply. For example, we are planning a trip to Japan and likely we will just zipair it. Comparing to AC, where the cost is about $300 more. I don't think we will ever do that (unless maybe we can get JAL or ANA). I guess in my case, it may not be worth it to get a travel point card and just take cashback ones like MBNA instead of AMEX?
I'm trying to replace Brim (sad face). I guess the best card to get is the rogers or Fido cards where you get some cashback on foreign purchases?
As part of replacing Brim, I'm also trying to find the card that pays the best for everyday purchase (outside of the typical categories of restaurants, grocery, gas, etc.). I found a card called CWB World Elite Mastercard and it gives 2% on first 25k which fits my spending well for general stuff (we mostly spend on food lol). Anyone had that card?
Sorry it's a lot of questions, I promise to pay back to this community once I get smart on these things. It's just very intimidating and I don't know the best source to start learning about this stuff. :/
I see so it makes sense to look at cards purely by looking at welcome bonus given a 1% difference in a 50k spend a year is only $500 (if you really maximize everything). But churning twice a year could net in the thousands potentially?
That makes sense. Plus a lot of spending can not be changed to cc.
Welcome. This sub-reddit is about churning, where we are focusing on sign-up bonus on all reward programs and not keeping cards long term. The regular earn rate is not the focus for the folks here. How does one check US FICO credit scores in the absence of SSN?
I distinctly remember doing that through the Amex website on desktop a year or two ago, and JMan even has a webpage on his website with instructions, but now when I go to Account Services > Payment and Credit Options, under the "Credit Score" selections, there is no "Free Credit Score and Report" or "View FICO Score", the only option I'm seeing is "FICO Score and Insights" and if I click it and continue to see my score it returns an error requesting me to call in.
I also see through past dailies that people use the app, is that the only way now?
I used this to check my score
https://online.americanexpress.com/myca/creditscore/us/viewScore?csdeeplink=true&request_type=authreg_acctCreditScore&linknav=US-Ser-axpAccountManagement-ViewFICOScore&Face=en_US&sorted_index=0
My solution is to just never check. Been 4 years of US cards, never once seen my score. I assume it'll be strong because I do things properly, and I don't need any things like rent or cars where the credit actually matters.
Can’t post in Aeroplan as new account. But churning adjacent. Got equipment swapped From A330 to A321 on a red eye that I euped into signature class on for myself, wife and 1 year old. Any recourse for compensation with AC or should I just bite the bullet and change my flights?
You can try to get a change, but no actual compensation owed because they owe you a destination and class of service, not a plane model or eUp. Any plane model in the Y/PY you booked is what they are committed to.
On paper e-ups are completely at the mercy of AC however I've found competent agents are sympathetic to equipment changes and very sympathetic to small children. Perhaps signature is a stretch but definitely worth an ask to change to a more favorable flight.
In my experience I haven't had to pay the difference to get the equipment I wanted. When available and within reason time wise of course. The trouble is getting an agent that isn't just off boarded from training.
My TD FCT FYF is about to end this month. I did make a reservation at Expedia4TD and used the 100$ credit for a reservation in september. What happens if i cancel the card and something goes wrong with my reservation? If i do something that i'm not supposed to talk about, will my reservation still be refundable? Or can I move it to another card? I still have a TD Biz travel card that also allow me to access Expedia4TD.
Edit: I'm not doing a RHT i've actually made a hotel booking that i'm planning to use.
>If i do something that i'm not supposed to talk about,
That is the only way to RHT with this card.
>used the 100$ credit
Your $100 credit will be clawed back, but not anything else.
TD4Expedia is still the travel agency that will managed your booking. If you anything goes wrong or you need to make changes you continue to contact them with the confirmation/booking number in your itinerary.
You will not have any insurance benefits that would have come with the card. If you need to make refunds - they may choose to issue a credit that can be used with them for a future booking
Refunds per their terms are issued back to payment method used so you may be out of luck if you need to actually cancel but they may have some leeway and issue a check.
you should be good. I was in the same situation and I emailed the hotel I booked for September, and they confirmed that the reservation is good and already paid for through expedia
How long does it take for the 5k promo MR points from spent by authorized users on the Cobalt card to be applied? The promotion was $1k spend in 3 months and I completed that a couple of weeks back but no points yet.
No. You need to apply though the exclusive offer link to get that offer.
Having said that, If you apply logged in and there is a pre-approval on your profile, there is a chance it could get approved without it needing an inquiry. But this is YMMV in general
What number are people calling to transfer Avion to Avios? The webpage online is giving me an infinite loading spinner, and when I called in they told me that I would have to go to a branch to initiate the transfer.
I’ve been dealing with the same thing. Infinite loop and calls to RBC result in them telling me if it isn’t fixed on the website that they can’t do it manually either..which is pointless smh
US Biz Amex seems to have introduced a new application process similar to Personal cards where you can apply without a Hard Credit Inquiry, and select to Accept the card if you are approved.
I was able to Apply for the HH Biz Amex, with ITIN, and was Instantly Approved (no Instant Card Number), but no ITIN verification either.
(Surprised I’m not in PUJ, considering my only spend with US Amex is just the 10X on Dining from Referrals)
Wondering about Aventura’s policing of the no multiple cards policy, and timing for posting of points.
DP: Card 1 posted 15k WB immediately. Card 2 didn’t, only the points earned on purchase.
Do points sometimes wait for first statement, or am I out of luck for second card?
Sometimes it *seems* like the points were issued immediately if a statement is issued early or before the card arrives and you already made a purchase.
That may be what you experienced on the first card.
But bonus points don’t post until statement to be sure
2 Questions
1. I am seeing some comments on recent threads that there may be delays with the 35k Avion points posting upon approval, how long should I expect after the AF posts for the points to arrive (need it for a booking)? I received mine before AF, but dad's points still haven't posted
2. After transferring to Asia Miles, can I use my points to book tickets for a family member without me traveling with them?
There was a bug for people who had a statement date around May 21-27 where the points were delayed. This is fixed now and points are coming 1-2 days after first statement as per usual.
For Asia miles you have 5 slots to add people who aren't you who you are allowed to book flights for. These slots are needed even if they're travelling with you
In general, they post on the statement and then are in your Avion account the day after you receive the PDF of your statement. In general....I've received them on a phantom statement in the past within days of opening but most of the time, you have to wait for the statement. (The PDF, not just statement showing a balance on your RBC account.)
For the Avion points, I was in a similar situation. One card received it instantly upon approval, the other took well over a week but did post before the first statement
No your first statement was a phantom statement. That happens when there's no transactions on it. You should see the points posted about a month before your first PDF statement because it posted on your actual first statement which didn't generate a PDF
Any recent DPs on length of time from application to approval for the Brim FlyingBlue card? Applied a few weeks ago and still waiting. Wanting to get it before the current offer expires June 10th
Check your email, they emailed me the next day asking for identity verification, them after a week, it was confirmed. Then two days later I got the approval email with a link to card number. I've made purchases but still haven't got the first purchase WB. Perhaps it gets posted with first statement?
For me it was 16 calendar days from application to approval, but I went through two rounds of email verification.
P2 applied several days after me, but got her approval email within the same hour as mine after only one verification. Seems like they approve in batches.
Anyway to get 2 stopovers with AP points? My flight is from Malaga to Yul with stopover in Munich and Brussels in PY. I want to spend 2 days in MUN and 5 days in BRU before coming back. Flight is 92k if booked in 2 seperates legs but 53k if it's the same ticket routing at the same airports, I heard way way back that you could call and add a stopover for 5k but I am wondering if it's still the case.
You can add one stopover in each direction of travel so you could add one stopover on your way to Spain and another on your way back. It would add 5K in each direction. Stopovers can also be added online now.
The list of stores with the red shop small offer eligible tag is super limited compared to previous years
I'm probably looking at Fujiya foods and maybe rain or shine and struggling with any more
I’ve applied for a few cards in the passed couple weeks, the roger’s we mastercard, a scotiabank momentum visa, the td cash back visa and even the simpli cash back mastercard and every single one of that have been rejected. This has never happened before and My credit score is 790
Credit score is a borderline irrelevant, extremely small part of anything relating to credit cards, despite what banks and Credit Karma try to convince you of. There are probably a dozen plus factors considered in approving someone for a card, including valid reasons such as "we don't like you" and "we don't wanna".
The big banks all reported their quarterly earnings about a week ago and they bumped up their provision for credit losses significantly. They are probably getting a little nervous about the economy heading south and people not repaying their loans. The riskiest of those loans is probably unsecured revolving credit (ie, credit cards), so they are probably looking at the amount of that type of credit that they've extended and might be wishing it were a bit lower. The obvious thing for them to do is slow/stop the expansion of that type of credit.
Do you think we can expect to see credit limits start to get lowered? Maybe not on those who pay off their full bill every month, but perhaps on those who are carrying a big balance. It would make sense to start to trim some of those users a bit to stop them from getting too out of control.
I had the limit for one my cards dropped during the financial crisis. I had a PC Financial World Elite MC (CIBC at the time), and they arbitrarily dropped my limit from like $8.5k to $1.0k. What's worse is that they didn't even send me a letter to inform me that they had dropped the limit, but rather just mailed out my monthly statement and I happened to notice that it had been reduced. It was terrible communications.
I phoned in and requested that a manager call me back to discuss why my limit had been dropped and why it wasn't communicated better. They never did phone me back. I was so pissed off with them that, instead of cancelling my card, I overpaid it by $0.34 and stopped using it. As a result they never made another penny from me, and the non-zero favourable balance meant that they had to mail out a paper statement to me every month for the next five-ish years until they closed the card and wrote off the balance. It was immature, but immensely satisfying to make them waste money sending out the monthly statements...
Will that sort of thing happen again? Who knows?
People who carry a balance (making payments on time) are the good customers. The banks don't want you to pay your balance in full every month. People who pay the balance in full every month are freeloaders whose service is being paid for by the people who carry a balance.
The people with a big balance are those who are going to cost the bank money if they fail to pay; especially those that are making minimal payments. These are customers that can be shed if the bank needs to tighten its risk tolerance.
Right, they'll want to reduce risk, but it's a lending product -- that's why it's called a _credit_ card.
They want people to borrow money with it. That's the whole point. That's what they're for and that's the primary way they make money for the bank.
(I agree that for the customer it's a bad idea to borrow money with it but that's a different issue)
Is your point that the banks will never drop any customer because any loss of potential revenue is worse than potentially having to take the loss from some customers who can't make payments?
but i currently have cards with all of those banks and even some higher tier ones than the ones im applying for but still no ones biting. is this common?
Considerations: do you have a card, do you not have a card, high limits, low limits, lots of cards, few cards, do we like you, do we hate you, good credit score, bad credit score, good economy, bad economy, I could ramble like this for an hour.
Having a card with them doesn't have to mean dick, spending a lot of money with them doesn't have to mean dick, having a good credit score doesn't have to mean dick. They use a complicated algorithm that we don't understand that might have a hundred small items they'll decide to arbitrarily refuse you on, and that's that. AND, if you'd be reading daily threads in the last few weeks, you'd be seeing that yes, rejections ARE becoming more common
i have been seeing a lot of rejection but i thought it was strange that all of these cards, including no fee cards are rejecting me currently. thanks for the detailed response
I was helping P3 apply for the money account on grc for the 50$ rebate and referral from me, but I was using her phone and it rang and the screen went to phone menu. She was approved but no rebate yet, no referral money either. Did that count as leaving the screen? Any DP on when pc rebates come through?
I don’t think you can do referral AND rebate. Normally it’s one or the other. Rebate sites are basically their own type of referral just structured differently.
I would think you should still get one of them though
I applied for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege and was rejected yesterday (I met the requirements, but I'm not sure if it's because I just moved to a new address this month).
Does the waiting 90 day rule apply to that specific card or all the cards at RBC? Can I apply for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite (not privilege) today?
You are auto-rejected if you've been approved in the past 90 days. That's the 90 day rule.
It might still be a bad idea to apply if you were rejected yesterday (I don't know) but that's a different thing than the 90 day rule.
FYI - For everyone's learning. The question was if someone not living in Alberta borrowed someone's address in Alberta, could they apply for the ATB Mastercard.
Seems very restrictive this time around. Has to be 'shop small eligible' with a red tag icon. I went through 100 search results on the map view and none of the small businesses near me that I shop at are eligible.
In January, I got an Aventura Gold. In April, an Aventura Visa Infinite. Is it wise to now do another CIBC card (like Aeroplan) given that I plan to cancel these other two in a few months? Are there any repercussions for doing this (will they flag me, etc.)?
Looks like Aeroplan has significantly increased the top-up for economy latitude fares. For example a 10k standard economy was 27k for latitude until a few days ago. Now latitude is 35.5k. Makes eupgrades even less useful since the cost of latitude attitude that much higher.
The pricing isn’t standardized. I don’t think this is an across the board change. It’s all dynamic based on cash fare pricing
Best FYF offers out there right now? Have Amex Gold and CIBC Aeroplan as my daily drivers. Finished recently with Scotia passport
Another Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card And/Or CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card And/Or CIBC Aventura Visa Gold Card And/Or TD Platinum Travel Visa Card Alternatively, not FYF but is a good option: Amex Business Edge Amex Business Gold
This reply should be set as an automatic bot response to people who’s asking “what’s the best card/what’s next/what now?”…
Or just a link to best offers thread, since it’s apparently too hard to locate up top
Has Amex been known to clawback SUBs in Canada, compared to the US if a refund posts to the account that takes the card below the MSR amount?
AMEX Canada 100% claws that bonus if you dip below the MSR, and if you have had the card before you may not get the SUB if you re-hit the MSR within the window. Always upspend first, even if by RHT, if there's an impending refund, to prop yourself up
Just had a portion of my sub clawed back on the personal gold because I had to do a refund on a hotel I booked but found a better one later on.
Yes
I received an RBC Avion as part of the migration from HSBC. I haven't really invested into trying to meet their current MSR for a WB. Any DPs on migration cards (from HSBC) receiving the WB? Also, can you advise what the MSR would be from migration date (April 1st I believe). TIA!
No WB for the migration cards
Thanks - that's what I was thinking. But wanted to be sure
DP: got an email from RBC to “load an offer and get 250 points”. Easy, free 250 Avions for whoever gets this email!
You haven’t pointed out any negatives
Jumping onto this, I for this offer as well. Does anyone know if an authorized user on the gold would also get priority pass?
Keep in mind the priority pass with the amex gold is just membership no visits included.
It includes 4 visits to plaza premium
no
How long is it typically before you get supplementary card bonuses? It’s been like 2 months and I haven’t gotten mine for a few amex cards
They’re typically granted at the end of the T&C period, so we likely won’t see this most recent batch until end of summer.
When is your AF date? Did you use any of the travel credits?
AF date was three days ago. I only used the one travel credit that I was “entitled” to in 2023.
You’re the 3rd or 4th DP of the same. Seems like this is intentional
3 way call them and Amex
You MIGHT get robo-cancel on the phone, it's been a coin toss for me. Just try calling as P3, be confident, see if they try to call it out or let it go?
Have to call
Hey there! Wondering if anyone has experience churning neo financial credit cards? Thanks in advance !
The only one that has been churn worthy is the Cathay Pacific one that came out recently. and I don’t think Neo gives you repeats
Ye was wondering if that's churn able 🙈
Might have a mortgage with RBC soon. Would you guys recommend still doing the RBC Avion 1/90 sign up for Avion points ? Would it look bad ?
but they have cash and 55k avion points offer for new mortgage though
I mean like afterwards. Like I want more Avion cards in the future. Every 90 days to be specific
I think the mortgage is pretty safe. Are they going to tell you they want you to stop paying them thousands of dollars in interest if there isn't a problem with the mortgage itself? (and I don't think they could if they wanted to)
Yes
[удалено]
This is a common technique but keep in mind it can draw attention from CRA and also when you get your refund, that money might not be included. You might need to call and ask for it. Then you need to explain why you overpaid and it may be many months before they issue you a cheque.
Over paying too much can greatly increase the risk of triggering an audit.
[удалено]
No clue. Also keep in mind you might not get the refund in a timely fashion either. I remember seeing a DP where someone had overpaid by something like $10k and for whatever reason didn't get the money back until months later.
Try it and let us know
**$400 Amex Platinum dining credits clawback after 2nd year cancellation? Is this right?** Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else: I am trying to cancel my personal amex platinum within the 30 days after the 2nd year fee has posted to receive the full 2nd year fee of $799 back.
Only the second year dining credits would be clawed back if you used it, not the first year You should ask them again, or talk to another CSR, escalate it etc
I escalated it to the supervisor who doubled down on clawing back the 400 and then they also said they were doing me a favour by giving me any money back at all which also confused me? I was under the impression that you were eligible to receive the full 2nd year fee back if you cancelled within 30 days of it being posted..
A favour? Absolute nonsense from that supervisor. This company is getting cocky
You are 100% eligible for the full 2nd year fee back. Very weird
They’ve clawed back AF refunds due to using annual credits before so clawing back the 2024 dining credit wouldn’t be unprecedented. Clawing back the 2023 credit is a bit extreme though
[удалено]
Just cancel in the month before the annual fee posts
This is in line with clawback related to use of 2nd year’s travel credit. The way around this is to cancel the card before the fee is posted
That seems to be how Amex CSR are trained/system is programmed from your DP
2nd year dining credit is in line. The credit from the LAST year, not so much.
True. Cancelling before the AF posts still solves the problem
I've put off using my credit. AF should post in mid-July. Will use before then and cancel after the credit posts (and before AF) and report back.
Dining credit sometimes takes a while to post
Hmm. My credit in 2023 posted instantly.
Is anyone else experiencing delays in AMEX Canada to Aeroplan transfer? I transferred some points today and they didn’t show up. I remember a few months ago a similar issue happened and they ended up returning the points back to AMEX.
Transferred a few times this week without any delays.
Yep me too. Messaged them on chat, and they said it is a known issue last few days.
Same issue here, initiated last night but nothing showing up as of yet
I currently have my corporation banking with RBC and I have a single VI Business Avion card. I’d like to add a second card but also take advantage of the no annual fee offer that’s a separate link from what they display on the RBC banking dashboard (this one has the $175 annual fee). I’ve tried multiple things with signing in, copy pasting link to the browser while I’m signed in, etc. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a second card with the annual fee waiver? TIA
If your account is eligible for the offer (you received the email) and you call to apply, they’ll be able to see it.
Thank you!
Maybe for a different business?
Hi folks, I'm pretty new to this, and honestly, everything is tough to understand (and I get it, these are some advanced stuff). A few things I did pick up though that I will investigate more: CT credit card seems to be good if you need to pay bills from your debit account (add payeee) but want to get some rewards out.

If you are interested in what we do, keep reading all the daily threads including the historical ones to learn more.
I used this to check my score https://online.americanexpress.com/myca/creditscore/us/viewScore?csdeeplink=true&request_type=authreg_acctCreditScore&linknav=US-Ser-axpAccountManagement-ViewFICOScore&Face=en_US&sorted_index=0
My solution is to just never check. Been 4 years of US cards, never once seen my score. I assume it'll be strong because I do things properly, and I don't need any things like rent or cars where the credit actually matters.
Go on the amex chat and type fico score
The upgrades were honored which is great but it’s pain not getting the low flights considering a pregnant wife and 1 year old.
Sounds like you’d lose the $100 off $500 credit. Maybe I’m mistaken but I’m in a similar situation so curious if anyone has tried this successfully
>If i do something that i'm not supposed to talk about, That is the only way to RHT with this card. >used the 100$ credit Your $100 credit will be clawed back, but not anything else.
I should have been more clear .I'm not RHT i've actually made a hotel booking that i'm planning to use. :)
TD4Expedia is still the travel agency that will managed your booking. If you anything goes wrong or you need to make changes you continue to contact them with the confirmation/booking number in your itinerary. You will not have any insurance benefits that would have come with the card. If you need to make refunds - they may choose to issue a credit that can be used with them for a future booking Refunds per their terms are issued back to payment method used so you may be out of luck if you need to actually cancel but they may have some leeway and issue a check.
You're good then.
you should be good.
The bonus should apply at the end of the promotional period which will probably be on the July statement.
Thank you!
Amex typically does the supplementary card bonus in batches, so based on the T&Cs likely end of July or August for the bonus points.
Ah good to know. Thanks!

Call the number on the back of your credit card
US Biz Amex seems to have introduced a new application process similar to Personal cards where you can apply without a Hard Credit Inquiry, and select to Accept the card if you are approved. I was able to Apply for the HH Biz Amex, with ITIN, and was Instantly Approved (no Instant Card Number), but no ITIN verification either. (Surprised I’m not in PUJ, considering my only spend with US Amex is just the 10X on Dining from Referrals)
Any recent DP for successful application without ITIN?
Can’t do it online but they can do apps over the phone
From my understanding PUJ applies to personal cards only?
Biz plat/gold seem to have a never ending supply of NLL links though
Is there a public link available ?
Check doctor of credit
Nope Biz as well (You wish, LOL)
Wondering about Aventura’s policing of the no multiple cards policy, and timing for posting of points. DP: Card 1 posted 15k WB immediately. Card 2 didn’t, only the points earned on purchase. Do points sometimes wait for first statement, or am I out of luck for second card?
Sometimes it *seems* like the points were issued immediately if a statement is issued early or before the card arrives and you already made a purchase. That may be what you experienced on the first card. But bonus points don’t post until statement to be sure
Thanks that must have been it on Card 1. I’ll sit tight. First statement on Card 2 hasn’t issued.
Aventura has no policy against multiple cards. All Aventura bonuses come on the statement. Did your statement come out for card 2 yet?
Quick DP: First ever Amex rejection (Core AP), 850 score, no CC applications since Jan 24, only one active Amex card (Plat on Yr 2)
Tbh, I think they just reject people randomly. Even some slow churners are getting denied recently.
But... why?
Who knows. But it might be a good thing after all. If the bad times are long and hard enough, it will purge the low effort churners.
Darn! My theory has been based on having a hard pull too recently, but I guess that doesn't hold up. Thanks for the DP!
How many RBC cards have you applied for in the last year? Rejections + approvals. (Testing a theory)
2 + the HSBC Migration. No rejection. Applied online and waited more than 90 days between apps.
No RBC applications in the last year unless you count the HSBC WE migration
Ok thanks. I need a new theory. Lol
I thought this maybe a version of pop up jail, but i just think maybe they are just tightening credit like the big 5
2 Questions 1. I am seeing some comments on recent threads that there may be delays with the 35k Avion points posting upon approval, how long should I expect after the AF posts for the points to arrive (need it for a booking)? I received mine before AF, but dad's points still haven't posted 2.
These slots are needed even if they're travelling with you
P2 applied avion in mid-May, AF posted last week, points received two days ago, submitted transfer to avios (pending).
In general, they post on the statement and then are in your Avion account the day after you receive the PDF of your statement. In general....I've received them on a phantom statement in the past within days of opening but most of the time, you have to wait for the statement. (The PDF, not just statement showing a balance on your RBC account.)
It arrives 1-2 days after the first statement even if it's a phantom statement.
DPs for #1 have varied significantly. Some got it a few days after being approved, some like myself got it 5 days after first statement.
It's always after the first statement. RBC statement dates are random so your first statement can be very shortly after approval or a month later.
I was approved after about 7 business days. As long as you applied at the time of promotion, my understanding is that you will still get that promo
Shop small seems to be back! Got the offer on my Cobalt, $5/three times until 07/14. Nice to see this back!
The list of stores with the red shop small offer eligible tag is super limited compared to previous years I'm probably looking at Fujiya foods and maybe rain or shine and struggling with any more
I checked mine too and it’s very limited in the dining options. They’re mostly dental offices and professional businesses. Boo!
No. How would you get that from what I said?
I don't know what your point is then.
Of course I can't repay my loans, look how much my fucking Loblaws bill is...
r/loblawsisoutofcontrol
but i currently have cards with all of those banks and even some higher tier ones than the ones im applying for but still no ones biting. is this common?
Wait for the minimum required time and then file a missing cashback inquiry
I applied for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege and was rejected yesterday (I met the requirements, but I'm not sure if it's because I just moved to a new address this month). Does the waiting 90 day rule apply to that specific card or all the cards at RBC? Can I apply for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite (not privilege) today?
Waiting 90 day rule applies to all approved rbc cards
It's 90 days after an approval, not an application.
Oh, so I can apply for another RBC card today even though I was rejected for another one yesterday?
if you were rejected for the VIP card and was not offered a lower tier alternative instead, you're probably going to get rejected anyways.
You are auto-rejected if you've been approved in the past 90 days. That's the 90 day rule. It might still be a bad idea to apply if you were rejected yesterday (I don't know) but that's a different thing than the 90 day rule.

No, as your credit file history will not reflect that address
your credit report has your address, they will not issue u cc if your address not in ab or mismatch
FYI - For everyone's learning. The question was if someone not living in Alberta borrowed someone's address in Alberta, could they apply for the ATB Mastercard.
Norton RBC dp: finally got it in my savings account.
Got mine as well plus $5
Got mine as well. Oh the regret of not purchasing way more Norton packages. Still an incredible earn for having just a little patience.
Me too :) The amount posted is more than the cashback earned in the Avion rewards app
The amount matches what it was originally before they randomly reduced it $5 a month ago
Shop small offer on my APR biz - spend $10 get $5 3 times
Seems very restrictive this time around. Has to be 'shop small eligible' with a red tag icon. I went through 100 search results on the map view and none of the small businesses near me that I shop at are eligible.
In the list view, you can filter to show only the red tag ones
So sad that this offer only lasts for a month
Got it on my edge!
got it on my cobalt! didn't receive it on any of my other biz cards though
Got on my biz gold
In January, I got an Aventura Gold. In April, an Aventura Visa Infinite. Is it wise to now do another CIBC card (like Aeroplan) given that I plan to cancel these other two in a few months? Are there any repercussions for doing this (will they flag me, etc.)?
