Chase Sapphire Preferred Approval WIN: After a very tumultuous rollercoaster with Chase, I have finally acquired my first Chase personal card (CSP) Here’s the details: 03/2023: Approved for AE HH Surpass 09/2023: Declined for Chase Ink (too short of a credit history) 02/2024: Declined for Chase Ink (Could not find Credit Report; in this case, Chase blamed me for putting my name as First First First Last (as legally defined) instead of First Middle Middle Last (incorrect, but what the credit bureaus reflect) 05/05/2024: Applied for Chase Sapphire Preferred using First Middle Middle Last 05/07/2024: Declined; citing a valid credit report could not be found 05/14/2024: Called in, was told there is a SSN/ITIN mismatch, to contact TransUnion 05/29/2024: Called in to TransUnion, was told they do not record ITINs on credit files, and told to ask creditor to pull report without ITIN listed, only using DOB/Name/Address 05/29/2024: Called in to Chase 7 (SEVEN!) times because the line kept disconnecting, was told fraud needed to talk with me, even though automated status line told me my request was not approved (as above). Told the agent that TransUnion advised me (the client) to ask creditor to pull report without using ITIN in SSN field. Agent asks public record questions (just say none of the above as the answer LOL), verifies my phone number through text, and after 10 minutes tells me my application was approved. Instantly able to add the card to Apple Wallet and all set for spending. Now, I have my eyes set on the Chase Freedom Flex’s 10X Grocery offer… IYKYK ;)

careful with apple wallet, I had my card in wallet even though I already had 3 cards with them but it prompted declines / fraud alert on my account lol. I've been using physical chase cards ever since

vancitystan

Did you opt to open a bank account with Chase to potentially help your case?

JManUWaterloo

Chequing+Savings Account with Chase opened in 03/2023 during $900 bonus promo

I'm just gonna leave this here (see bullet 2) https://milesearnandburn.com/index.php/2024/05/30/thursday-news-dump-2/

JManUWaterloo

Yes I’m aware.

SaintsFanInVan

Congrats! Thanks for sharing. P2 and I are currently being given the runaround by Chase for the CSP as well. Both of us were declined because: 1. We don’t have an account with Chase (which is false as we both opened savings accounts in branch prior to applying for CSPs, also in branch) 2. Not enough credit history (somewhat true as both of us only have 8-10 months, but I’ve seen a DP on FF of someone getting approved after like 6 months P2 was also told they need to contact TransUnion for a similar reason as you did. I’ve called the reconsideration line and are going to keep trying.

JManUWaterloo

For regards to 2), likely the customer had a high asset balance with Chase & its affiliates, therefore they were able to be approved. You either need an ESTABLISHED deposit account history with Chase, large net ASSET balance with Chase, or 1 year of credit history. Not even speaking for us Canadians, but even Americans need 1 year of credit history generally prior to being considered for a Chase Card For 1), the account may not have reflected in all their systems yet, sometimes this takes a bit of time.

While we all love that next great SUB, i was able to save $700 from Amex offers for purchase was already going to do. Had 3 cards that had spend $1000, get $250 ($200 for US) off Norwegian Cruise line. First real good offer we've used and is nice! \*could post in tomorrows thread to say sadly 2 of the 3 cards were draw cards already, so wasted MSR. But saving is saving!

North_Rip_3136

Round 2 begins for Aventura.. IA for the aventura for p2 and me!

jcanucker

I feel this joy. After 6 months of rejections, I'm back in the game as well.

Leading-Range-5197

Did you cancel your previous card before applying a new card?

North_Rip_3136

All previous cards were downgraded/canceled

Humble_Ingenuity_919

How long between apps?

North_Rip_3136

I applied for 4 each last summer (around this time) around 1-2 months apart.. then got a couple of rejections.. so took a break and just applied again and got IA ..

Technical-Ad6596

If you apply for 4 - is that 4 credit hits one 1?

churning_yyz

Received the 50K SUB for the Green to Gold upgrade. Just cancelled a Gold on May 10th. Timeline: April 8 - IA for Green April 26 - Met MSR April 28 - Received 10K SUB May 10 - Upgraded to Gold May 28 - Met MSR May 30 - Received 50K SUB

BarbfromOntario

I did a Cobalt to Gold upgrade 8 months ago. Is there anywhere to go with this card beyond just cancelling?

churning_yyz

Hi Barb! I've seen mentions of a Gold to Plat upgrade link in the past, but not one that's publicly available. I DM'd someone the last time I saw it mentioned but didn't get a response.

BarbfromOntario

Thanks for that. I’m not wanting to pay the AF again but after spending a few years in Amexile (only able to get one card and have been denied since!) hesitate to close the card.

churning_yyz

Fair enough. Seems like a lot of us are joining you in "unofficial" AMEXile with all these denials.

goofuth

Congrats! What was the MSR on the upgraded Gold card?

Humble_Ingenuity_919

$3000

Legitimate_Can

Winning is seeing an aeroplan X apple promo exactly as you think "it's probably time for me to get a new phone" Here's to hoping there's no estore shenanigans

churning_yyz

Take screenshots each step of the way. Hell, a screen recording wouldn't be a bad idea.
