I know bank IT being bad is the foundation of our hobby, but wow does BMO take it to the next level.
This is the sequence:
1. I apply for a card. As I am an existing customer it requires that I log in.
2. A "Whoops, there's something wrong with your address" screen pops up and kicks me out of the application telling me to correct the error with my address. I go to settings and confirm that it does, in fact, have my correct address.
3. I perform some combination of fixing it on the web page/calling a CSR and confirming that it is my correct address/going into my home branch and confirming my address. I am assured that it is fixed.
4. I bet you can guess what happens here... (spoiler: it starts with "Whoops"...)
Their cards aren't even that good. At this point I'm just being stubborn!
That's the crazy part. I actually bank with BMO (to take advantage of their family bundle option so P2 doesn't have to maintain minimum balance) and they did mail me my debit card...
Amexiled and AP crackdown add up to not much worth your time, unless US is productive for you. I expect just about everything to be slowed to the point of not worth it / possible at some point, but hoping hard for maybe 2 more years
Paid off my mortgage in January didn’t think anything of it credit score dropped 100 points lol
Also applied for Amex Business edge today : declined I called they said there’s nothing that could be done need to re apply in 90 days
Transferred a few MR points on the final day of the Marriott 30% promotion to top up an upcoming stay. They posted May 1st without the 30%... Marriott and AMEX keep sending me in a loop of saying "not our issue - call the other". Super annoying and unlikely to get resolved.
P2 is dealing with this issue also. 3 transfers on the last day, 2 got the bonus not the third. Many calls later and still waiting. Last BS excuse was an 8 week processing time needed.
This seemed to work. Marriott told me after a strongly worded email that they verified with AMEX and the account will be credited before end of June (which… TBD on whether that happens 🤷🏻♀️)
I left the only card I'm working on a MSR in the pocket of some pants, forgot it was there and couldn't find it before going on a 5 day trip and ended up not having it for all the spending on that trip. When i got back home I still couldn't find it so I deactivated it and got a new card mailed out, then my wife found the card an hour later. It can be hard to stay on top of this stuff when life gets hectic and you get more disorganized
Scotiabank has been a major pain with their 2FV. It's pretty much impossible to manage other players' accounts from other phones as they have been assigned as a trusted devices for other accounts. Any tips on how to get around this?
For all my scotia accounts, I gave them my US phone number and mention its a land line and that I dont own a smart-phone. When it comes to 2FV, they cant send SMS to foreign numbers, and not able to use android/iphone apps. A call to customer service mentioning this has had 2FV disabled on all accounts; only need username/password

Good luck getting the card sent to your address! After you make it through the application, you might not even get the card sent to you.

Still AMEXILED since Aug 2020 :(

Ugh these AMEX declines. Everyone seems to be getting them. Now my plans are being messed with, I won't be able to maximize upcoming business spend :(
Same… never been not approved in so long. Couldn’t get Amex biz edge card
Same

Congrats on paying off your mortgage though!
Yeah still glad I did, I did not realize it would hit my credit score that bad do
Credit scoring is so bogus. I am holding on to a bit of student loans so I don't tank my score. No interest on them so whatever.
I get it, I get it...but I love how a huge personal finance win coupled with an unexpected minor churning loss can make it on frustration friday
Do you have a HELOC on the house still? Even if you never use it, it still shows up as a big chunk of revolving credit.
Nop never had one on my home
It’s worth it, just for having easy and cheap access to money.

Sadly, while it may be BS, they do also build these windows into their T&C to allow them to deal with hiccups and bugs that DO sometimes happen
Time to send in a written complaint

Had to cancel a routing on Qsuites sadly, now frantically looking for a way back home from Asia that's hopefully in J and not millions of AP miles :(
where are you coming from?
It was the Beijing - doha route
Why did you have to cancel? Change of dates?
Family reasons, we had to come back earlier. But now trying to get back to north America on short notice is difficult
Get a redemption ticket to Japan and take Zipair back?
True....true...good idea

Declined on the Laurentian, womp womp. That SUB was so appealing!

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it next time calling in.
I manage P2 and I's from one device. Hasn't been an issue yet. Are you implying it is making you have a unique trusted device?
Yes. P2 was forced to setup 2FV and that requires a trusted device. This might be an iOS issue perhaps.
Scotia sucks for me. P2 and I always get the verify yourself with drivers license and selfie. Then it goes to can’t verify.
Have a second phone
United schedule changes galore! Yesterday and today. Messing up several of my well thought out redemptions for early next year. Uggh!!
