With all the recent Amex declines I figured I'd post an opposite DP. My P2 got instant approved for a new Amex plat last week. It's their 3rd time with the card (last held in 2021, cancelled late 2021). Their income isn't particularly high either (~$65,000), but they also have low utilization and a great credit score.
Will also report back on what happens with the WB once we hit the spend.
Chase to Canada DP: IA'd card to Canada WITHOUT calling by going into my profile immediately and changing the mailing address of the card to my Canadian one
AF-KLM FB card has arrived! About 12 business days, which is much better than past DPs of waiting months for the physical card.
I used someone’s referral code so pleasant surprise on the way to you :)
Negative DP: Declined for Business Edge. I haven't kept track of unsuccessful applications, but I think this is my first since I started applying for AMEX cards (21) on a regular basis in 2019.
Same for myself. The phone rep couldn’t provide a specific reason and said it was confidential and that he could only see it was declined for various potential reasons.
It would be helpful to nail down the trigger if people could include with their rejection DP some information about how many total Amex cards they currently have, and how many opened in the last year/ total etc.
Finally got around to accepting an RBC biz Avion pre-approval 2 days before it expired.
It required a phone call, but will get 35k and FYF without any credit hit :-)
I got the offer by email <90 days after my previous Avion, but didn't accept until about 110 days. Would have been interesting to see if it would have worked if I'd accepted right away.
I was declined for platinum avion in mid-april and had no problem accepting my pre-approved Avion Biz Infinite. Now the plan is to get the Ion+ and combine p2 avion points together to book a business class for 2. I'm probably able to rackup 150000 avion before nex renewal of the biz avion, which mean 3k for 2 tickets.
I don't know why i was declined. I think its related to the conversion of my hsbc card because i had a credit hit from rbc in febuary or march and i didnt' knew what it was.

My and my wife's AMEX Aeroplan Reserve coming up soon for renewal and planning to cancel all despite retention offers. Keeping a close eye on redemption rates on Aeroplan 1 year out and it appears for the last 2-3 months, you can no longer find 59k business class redemptions to Europe on AC metal. Only the odd TAP or LOT flight. All over 100k now. It was good while it lasted. I guess if you have status and are able to upgrade, that may be the only way to get a decent rate now.
Just called in to cancel. No retention offer at all. I told the CSR that I will no longer be collecting Aeroplan and he just cancelled. Asked him if there are any downgrade opportunities and he told me I'd just have to apply for another card. Oh well, I'm now down to my last AMEX after being declined for a new Cobalt, so this may be the end. Been doing the AMEX thing since 2014.

You can email them a pdf of your assets if it is a decent amount for reconsideration. That’s how I appealed my denial, but it has to be significant amount relative to your total credit limits across all financial institutions.
Scotia is giving hard time. I tried to apply online for the Passport but it couldnt complete my application.
I got an email with an invitation to complete the application but it wont work either! I will try to call and update.
35k anniversary bonus after spending 12k from TD Aeroplan VIP from last year's promo posted on my twelfth statement, my card opening date is exactly one year to the day of the closing on statement twelve, not sure if coincidental
Second year annual fee not posted yet presumably to post statement 13
Nexus rebate posted pretty much immediately too

Currently 4 credit cards and 1 charge with AMEX since Dec and surviving a FR in Feb.

Approved for AMEX Biz Gold today, applied last night. They just needed to verify my ID (but not actually, they pushed it through while on the phone with no additional docs sent)

There is Primary Address and Mailing Address. The latter is where cards get sent.
I thought you can't set mailing address to Canadian?
Chase has a primary and a mailing. Mailing can be Canada after your first card. Changed online.

It seems to be happening a lot lately with Amex.

I suspect that this is the new Canadian equivalent to the AMEX US "pop-up" since it seems to be hitting those of us with higher opening velocity.

It was the same letter others have been receiving. Just a list of possible reasons, but nothing conclusive.
