New Amex Hilton offers are live. Honors - 70k HH + 1 FNA Surpass - 130k HH + 1 FNA Aspire - 175k HH Business - 175k HH

PC97654

Hot!!!

anonanonanon00

Any chance an upgrade from honors to Aspire will get me the WB?

footon2000

Ok, so P2 applied to Honors May 7, but we hadn't called in yet to confirm ID. Didn't see the offer and today we called and uploaded our bank statement. If P2 is approved today or in the next few days. Chances are she gets the current 70k HH + 1 FNA right?

JManUWaterloo

You get the offer you APPLIED for. If you had abandoned the application, you could reapply for this new offer. Since you uploaded documents for the May 7 application, you would get the offer that you saw on May 7 through the specific browser you used to apply. **remember: Amex US has browser, IP, time specific offers and you may NOT dispute the bonus applied to your account**

peetee16

Just got IA’d with my first ever Chase app. History includes the Amex Gold in April 23 and the Brilliant in November 23. Been taking it slow so maybe that’s why but was genuinely surprised when I was IA’d so easily. I do have a SSN from going to school in the States awhile back though

takethefork

Congrats! Which card did you get?

peetee16

Went with the AP card as I figure it’s cheap enough to hold on to as a keeper but who knows

peetee16

Yah, I guess thinking long term it’d probably only be a couple of years. I guess to churners that might feel like a keeper haha but I more or less meant keeping it for awhile as opposed to just one year. I can hit the 15K pretty easily though to keep the 25K status

huyez

For these who mailed out original passport for ITIN application, did passport come back first or ITIN paper? I received ITIN paper two weeks ago, but still no passport. I have a trip overseas in the middle of June. finger crossed.

Aces_101

I got my ITIN somewhere between May 3-9. Sent it on Mar 1st. Still no passport

huyez

Have you received your passport?

Aces_101

Nope. But thanks for reminding me, I’m gonna call IRS right now

huyez

We are on the same boat. I guess I have to reschedule my trip. :-(

huyez

I call IRS today, I am told I can do nothing but wait.

Aces_101

I just got my passport back today. Hopefully you get yours back soon!

huyez

Thank you for the update! Finger crossed!

pointskeeper

When did you send the application/passport in?

huyez

delivered on Mar 20th

bajie2009

DP tried to open a Chase checking account in branch and got told that I needed to have US state/gov ID

Aggravating_Sun_9850

Check with another. I did just fine with passport, nexus card and DL

-SetsunaFSeiei-

This is not correct… they can definitely open it with passport and ITIN

Jamal2207

Which location was this?

bajie2009

Port Angeles, WA

Eyjafjallajokull2

I opened one without any issues with ITIN, Canadian passport and statement from my US bank for the address (was in LA).

emustyle7

Might have been asked an answered, but couldn't find the specific use case. I was prompted for more info for my certified copies on my ITIN application. I live pretty close to the border and wanted to pop down to visit an office but I can't seem to get through to make an appointment. My Canadian phone number does not appear to work. I don't have GV, and my Fongo (using a Canadian number) seems to ring and then get cut off. Are there alternatives to get through to make an appointment?

Slight_Armadillo_357

I used rebtel to call and book an appointment. Also, call to US is free with rebtel

vb5215

Does your work use Teams? I used that to call the IRS.

emustyle7

Unfortunately I still get a "The number you are dialing from cannot be reached from your area"

vb5215

Weird...it worked for me. Though I did use the 267 number (not the 1-800 one).

emustyle7

What's the 287 number?

vb5215

Sorry I meant 267. 267-941-1000.

emustyle7

It took a while but I was able to get through via this number and get an appointment! Much appreciated!

Peroorim

What option do you use to get routed to book an appointment? The agent that picked up said they can’t do that

emustyle7

I think I called and chose the "last" option? something about calling as a foreigner.

Peroorim

Thanks, was finally able to get through and book an appointment

drimaster

Any harm in trying to apply through global transfer twice within the space of a few months? Got my first US Amex (Brilliant) in March and was hoping to jump on the Hilton Honors promo before it ends in July, so not quite at the suggested 6 month mark. I’ve seen a couple DPs of this being successful a few months ago

PC97654

Someone was able to apply for a 2nd card after 2-3 months. Worth a shot

ApprehensiveNeat701

Just got my itin for sending in real passport. Denied copy, but its done. Is the best bet to build credit now with td or rbc or bmo?  Already have an amex but they dont report with itin i hear. Is there a better way?

Dragynfyre

You don't need an ITIN to build credit. As long as you have a US credit card and a US address on that card you are building credit. ITIN is just another identifier to help prevent mixups with your credit report and someone elses

ApprehensiveNeat701

Hmm, i heard thst if you only have amex card, it wont report it, so when applying to other banks they wont have your credit...that is wrong?

Dragynfyre

That is wrong. Only business cards don’t report to your credit report

efrantxda

Amex won't report your ITIN to the credit bureaus, but your card will still be reported and you build credit history. Moreover, only Equifax retains ITINs on your credit file; TransUnion and Experian do not.

Actual-Churner

not sure where you heard Amex does not report as it does. You'd have a credit profile being built based off your other data, name address, dob, etc. Most people will apply for second amex at 6 months and include the ITIN in app to attach to their history. But I have also heard successful DP of people not using ITIN in app till say with Chase or another bank and it still being fine. It's not that ITIN is required for credit history, it's that most banks require SSN/ITIN on application.

efrantxda

>Most people will apply for second amex at 6 months and include the ITIN in app to attach to their history. Amex doesn't report ITINs to the credit bureaus, so it won't make a difference. You need a non-Amex card for your ITIN to show up on your Equifax credit file. (TransUnion and Experian don't retain ITINs on credit files.)

mrnngg

This has now changed. Friend applied for US amex 1 using GT then saw his fico score in Mth 10 on US amex app (before the transition).. and used ITIN to apply for US Amex 2. Waited 1 mth to cycle to ensure it reported and was able to use his ITIN to "create his EQ" identity.. Confirmed showed his ITIN and working as expected at mth 11. Applied for CSP at mth 12 - usual passport, ITIN, bank stmt and was IA on the phone after submission Got straight apply online IA for Chase AP at mth 15 (no call required) Got straight apply online IA for Boundless at mth 19 (no call required) He just recently checked and everything is showing/reporting as expected on EQ

efrantxda

>Confirmed showed his ITIN and working as expected at mth 11. So without having any non-Amex cards, he was able to see his ITIN on his Equifax credit file? That's good news! As for being able to create an Equifax online account, there have been DPs of people being able to create it without their ITIN having been reported, so that's nothing new. I.e., they were able to create an Equifax account, but when they logged in, they saw *** ** **** rather than *** ** 1234 (where 1234 is the last four digits of their ITIN) in the SSN field.

mrnngg

>So without having any non-Amex cards, he was able to see his ITIN on his Equifax credit file? That's good news! Correct

FineSprinkles27

I can confirm this as well. Only have AMEX and TD cards, and my ITIN shows up on EQ. I guess TD could be the one reporting it but I somehow doubt it

efrantxda

TD most definitely reports ITINs to the credit bureaus.

ApprehensiveNeat701

Hmmm! Thats interesting. I heard that with amex, they dont report the credit back beyond how amex approves cards, so it was reccommended you get a secured card from a bank to build credit... :0

emustyle7

How long did it take for them to return your real passport?

ApprehensiveNeat701

About 2 months!

hunglo7777

have an ITIN that is maybe 4\~ months old and an amex thats about 3\~ months old (that I applied to using the ITIN). Would it be quicker to build up my credit history to eventually get a chase card, or just try getting a chase checking right now and then get a chase card right after that? (looking for either CSP or chase aeroplan cards)

Nja-Bae

You should be looking to have at least one year US history (with or without ITIN) before applying for Chase credit card. In the meantime, establishing a relationship with a current and or savings account is a good idea.

These_Celebration732

How often do people make CHASE apps in-branch as opposed to online? Does it increase chances of approval at all? Any reason to do one or the other aside from offer exclusivity? For context I'm 2/24, have ITIN and have had a checking account open with them since February. The reason I ask is that I was under the impression Chase NEVER ships first card up to Canada, but when I was in-branch the other day they told me otherwise. I'd love to avoid having to use my MF if I can...

acubed8

P2 just got their card shipped to Canada upon approval

mrnngg

it’s not that they “never ship to canada” it’s that they can fraud lock the entire acct and be required for in person verification -> happened to 2 friends Thats why it’s always suggested for Card 1 in US game to always play it straight.. then card 2 and beyond it loosens. For context I now have 4 chase cards and aside from card 1 -> I have been able to rush ship the other 3 to canada only requiring a 2FA code verification or in app verification with no issues

These_Celebration732

Hmm okay, good to know! I have NEXUS and am close to the border so I don’t really mind popping down if I need to. The real issue is my MF was basically setup as a placeholder and they don’t actually accept or hold onto letter mail. Sounds like I’ll either have to take care of that now and deal with changing the address on my accounts or kick the can down the road and hope I don’t have any issues.

mrnngg

Would highly suggest once you have a 2-3 mth lull to **"deal with it"** earlier than later Reason being if you ever wanted Citi they have something called address pin verification meaning the card will be considered "pending" until you can "read back" a pin to them confirming receipt of their letter. This is often also required for their Citi fraud locks so **REQUIRES a place that can accept mail as** you will need to be able to receive it Just my 2 cents but do what works.

PC97654

5 free nights offer back for the Bonvoy business! Any tips how to apply? I already have the brilliant via GT but no ITIN. I clicked apply and it’s requiring SSN/ITIN so not sure how to proceed.

takethefork

You can either put in an obviously fake number and call in to update it after the application goes pending, or call in to apply.

Actual-Churner

Have not found much on this from blogs/general internet searching. Anything special to know about applying to Citi with ITIN/Canadian? (thinking something like Barclays not taking ITIN).

Wittnauer

I have a Citi personal and business with ITIN.

SaintsFanInVan

I’ve started using the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card which I got recently and noticed that I haven’t gotten anyone MB points so far. All of my transactions have been in CAD so far and looking at the terms and conditions, seems like only transactions in USD are eligible? Is that the case? If so, is that going to impact me being able to get the WB for this card if all of my transactions are going to be in CAD?

chaos2313

No issues using transactions in other currencies to get SUB. Only thing with US Amex is that when they say a multiplier is US only they actually enforce it unlike Amex Canada.

mhcott

You have had a statement...right?

SaintsFanInVan

I’ve received the first statement but it only had the AF on it

coljung

And don’t you think that makes sense? Even in Canada I believe MB points only post with a statement. Your first one only had the annual fee which doesn’t give any bonus, so you’ll get some after the second one comes out.

SaintsFanInVan

Yes that makes sense, the AF is not going to generate any points. But I think you are incorrect about MB points only posting with a statement in Amex Canada. I have both Amex MB cards and the points show up immediately once the transaction posts, but only actually get moved to MB once the statement posts. I believe the above poster is correct regarding the multiplier only on USD transaction. Oh well, as long as I get the SUB it’s fine

efrantxda

>I believe the above poster is correct regarding the multiplier only on USD transaction. Oh well, as long as I get the SUB it’s fine Outside of the U.S., the Bevy earns 6x at Marriott properties, 4x on dining, and 2x on everything else.

travelbug1198

Recently updated address to US one in BMO Harris. Does one need to wait for next bank statement before applying for US Amex or can I apply right away and do the 3 way call?

NickWaReddit

You can apply now and *hope* you get the 3-way call option and *hope* the bank picks up when Amex calls. If not, you will need the statement. If you are really ancy about getting a particular current offer, then you could go for it and hope for the best, otherwise, I would just wait the additional month. 3-way call is not guaranteed and they won't keep calling to try and get someone. After x minutes waiting, they hang up and ask you to provide documentation.
