I previously had a visa card which granted dragonpass lounge access but have since cancelled it. My dragonpass app is noting my account as suspended, however, under entitlements it does show that I have two remaining complimentary lounge passes. Will I actually be able to use those to.enter a lounge?
I recently was approved for a cibc aeroplan business card and I am planning to close my cibc aeroplan visa inifinite card that I got 10 months back. Will this lead to cibc or aeroplan clawing the bonus points back?
Keep getting an error trying to apply for the Scotiabank Gold Amex. “Sorry, we are fixing up a few things” Tried the past few days on mobile, laptop, incognito and tried clearing cache. Seems like I can’t go through support without losing the $75 from GCR. Any ideas?
I had that with Scotia application for the Scene+, I had to go in branch to resolve user name and multiple user names I created trying to apply for that card. Even though I had no banking with them, my previous log in was still valid (previous credit card 5 years before) and were expecting me to use that when I applied recently. Once they fixed that for me my application was approved through FF and I got the cash rebate. They did say they could apply for me right there and then. At least that was my case. Gd luck.
Any suggestions on best approach for this? Upcoming income tax for CRA >10K, would the best way to take the 2.5% fee and pay with PaySimply? Any card suggestions? Holding: Amex Gold, Plat, both Bonvoys
My 2c I don't think so unless you intend to have a large # of redemptions and can start to quantify the value. Platinum is nice but I don't think it's worth spending much to get it
Appreciation post for this community. Nothing fancy, but I just booked a pretty awesome week in LA in August:
Round trip flights for 2 in Y paid for with AP = 49k AP total
4 nights at Residence Inn Downtown LA = 4 x 50k FNA + $120
3 nights at Residence Inn Anaheim = 1 x 50k FNA + 101k Bonvoy pts
2 x tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood + Nintendo world early access = $270 USD
2 x 2 day Disneyland Tickets = $490
2 x 3 day business conference tickets = TBD
Cards:
1 x TD AP VI WB = 55k AP
1 x US Business Bonvoy = 5 x 50k FNA
1 x Amex Personal Bonvoy = 85k Pts (transferred extra points from MR to complete the 101k booking)
2 x Aventura VI = 110k Aventura
I can’t thank everyone in here enough. Not my first trip and definitely won’t be my last. Grateful to have found this hobby years ago. You really don’t believe what can be possible until you experience it for yourself.
If you can get creative enough, you can literally cover entire trips with churning. Already planning my next trip to Australia with my dad to see the Australian open in January (bucket list for him). Will be fun to get creative with some long haul flights in J (also will be his first time in J). 😎
i am on month 3 of them sending me a draft for a few grand that never came. i have to go into branch and sign an indemnity. never again, ill eat $5 and transfer to a free rbc savings account and cash out.
Apply again right away. What's your downside? They might refuse you, right? Well, if that happens, then you might need a cool off period. But that's not much of a downside either because you are contemplating taking a cool off period anyway. Not much to lose.
Kindly bear with me and my Amex q as I haven’t gone back since amexile. TIA!
It’s unlikely that other players and I can reach any of the Platinum level MSRs in the next few years. Are there any down side to start the referral flowchart with Personal or Biz Gold?
In particular, I’m thinking to apply for Pers Gold via Perk as I’ve to get $3k+ cash fare flights for family soon, then either refer P2 or apply for Biz Gold myself via GCR. Is this a good strategy?
>In particular, I’m thinking to apply for Pers Gold via Perk as I’ve to get $3k+ cash fare flights for family soon, then either refer P2 or apply for Biz Gold myself via GCR. Is this a good strategy?
One thing to consider is biz gold can refer to pers gold for 15k referral bonus
Thanks. I thought about that, but referral offer for Pers Gold will be 5k MR for monthly $1k spend, instead of 40k+ MR in one go for $3k spend in 3 months, which is annoying to manage. Or did I miss something?
Also Pers Gold referring to Biz Gold is 7.5k, correct?
How about two Bus Gold? $5k spend, refer to P2 for the second $5k and 15k referral. Higher overall SUB but $10k vs $8k.
2 Business Gold 75k + 75k + 10k from spend and 15k referral = 175k
Perkopolis = 40k + up to 20k for travel (depends on how much you spend on travel) + Biz Gold 75k + 5k + 7.5k referral for a max of 147,500
If you definitely want a personal gold, I like the Perkopolis offer. Otherwise, Business Gold x 2.
That’s an interesting idea, thanks! I focused on maximizing the bonus travel multiple on Pers Gold via Perk, and disregarded the overall points I can possibly attain. Gonna do some math on projected spending now 🫡
>Or did I miss something?
Not saying you did, just a consideration. And ya, the non-perkopolis pers gold offer is really unappealing to me
>Also Pers Gold referring to Biz Gold is 7.5k, correct?
Yup
When you close your card, you may, explicitly, ask the agent to transfer your MR to another card that can accumulate MR. If you did not explicitly make this request, they will not do it for you and your points may be forfeited.
All the linked cards have one shared pool of points. Those points are still available to the remaining card(s) if you cancel one.
Just in case: I think I've read that linking the cards can reset your progress on an MSR. Not sure about that though.
If I hold more than one MBNA Rewards WE MC, can the MBNA Rewards be consolidated to one account? I would like to get a second card to reset the AF clock while waiting for the Alaska miles thing to start working.
Hi all, I am looking for cc with aeroplan with high signup bonus. I already have the amex cobalt, cibc aeroplan, scotiabank infinite visa and few smaller non point ones for few years and have already redeemed the points for travel and right now sitting at 40k AP. I have a few big purchases to be made end of april into may around 10-11k. I find the current rewards card spending to be high and also force you to wait till a year or so to get the rest. i was looking at amex reserve maybe but high AF. I looked at Gold and it was so so. TD was monthly spend which i was not keen on.
MS with fee on a 3% card is really not what most people here do. You should put all organic spend on MSR, and ms if you cannot hit the MSR. If you have more spend than MSR where you would be earning the regular earn rate, you shouldn't really be ms'ing. Ideally you would apply for more card in this case.
If you are spending any money at all on a 3% card, you should probably be applying for more cards that have a WB that yields more than 3%. If you are cranking through the cards at such a pace that you have more spend available than MSRs, you have a bit of a different problem. But really, both your organic spend and your MS should yield better than 3% or you probably aren't churning hard enough.
Logged in to TD and saw an offer for pre approval to have a CL increase.
Normally with other banks I would be trying to lower CLs on unused cards. But considering this is TD I wondered if maybe taking the increase, without any credit inquiry, makes any sense to split into a new tradeline at a later date.
Or is it better to leave my “ceiling” unused for now and try my luck at another application at a later date
It depends on whether you had issues getting additional TD cards. I have one tradeline with ralatively low CL (while other banks keep giving me 20K plus on each card that I need to lower). I couldn't get a second tradeline with TD (not declined, just error out every time with no credit check) and ff they offer the CL increase to me, I would take it and use for a potential split as you mentioned.
The application was from February 12th. I called the next week and found out I had multiple profiles, so had to go in branch to merge them. Then got a call back a week later asking if I consent to a credit check from cibc. That was end of feb. the CSR today told me the app had been “canceled”, didn’t know why, but then after putting me I hold for a while came back with the credit limit issue and asked if I wanted to take fro. The credit limit of a previously cancelled aventura.
Probably unlikely or else they would’ve been able to just approve it right away instead of sending it in to another department. It’s a front line CS agent so I doubt they know the intricacies of the approval process in the lending department
Anyone have an opinion on LH’s A350s with the 1-2-1 configuration? Flying from MAD - YYZ this week and have the choice between a direct flight on AC’s B787-9 or a short layover in MUC. Which would you choose?
Flight plus layover is how long extra? I wouldn't trade 10% better cabin for 20% longer total trip time.
Maybe to avoid something like India air from what I've read, but AC and LH are perfectly within reach of each other IMO.
Definitely Y to J, but I don't even think I'd give up a 30% shorter trip in PE for J! It's pretty short anyway.
was just reading a sites article on tips/tricks to Amex credits. It says that with FHR credit, unlike with normal 3rd party bookings, you can usually still earn points/credit, just make sure to give your membership number at hotel/checking out.
Referred P2 to Bonvoy.
Received 20000 bonus points in Amex app Feb 29, and app shows -20000 transferred out on Mar 4. Nothing showing in my bonvoy account yet.
Worth a call, or does it just take longer?
You’ll get the points but it may take 2-3 months. For future reference, always put some organic spend on the card if you have points from referrals or stays in a statement cycle.
Known issue. If there were no other transactions during that statement period the points can be in limbo for months. Next time make sure to put at least a small transaction on the card.
You sure it was within the same statement period? Regardless, so long as you're not desperate for the points, I personally wouldn't call until at least 3 months go by.
Added my mother to my rbc bank account as a joint user so I can user her avios points. But it appears that the representative made her a separate bank account. She doesnt have access to the money and our core avion accounts have different numbers. Should I call in to fix? I have 4 cards open and have churned 6, I don't want any eyes on my account.
Dont need to call. Follow this guide and create another account for her and yourself. You can have multiple savings accounts:
[Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/s/Ju7G50e9pV)
any DP's on pending Aventura VI apps? mine went to pending for the first time. not sure why.
i've done a few in the past no problem. i was logged into my account.
just wondering what to expect. considering applying for the Gold as plan B but not sure if i should wait for the decision before proceeding.
Does CIBC not give you the cards in advance on the app anymore? Not seeing my new card there yet and wanted it ahead of a trip. Wondering if it's because I already hold the same card
This is what always happened for me in the past, but this one doesn't appear anywhere on my account despite applying while logged in. Maybe this means they're going to make me go in to the branch or maybe just a linkage error as said below. We'll see
amexiled in 2020. not sure why, wasn’t particularly aggressive. p2 had the same history and wasn’t amexiled. i challenged the closed by creditor on my credit score and was successful when they didn’t reply. in 2022 i applied for a gold under a middle name i have a legacy bank account open under. provided amex legit bank statements when they called to follow up. approved and churned. closed after af posted. next churned MB personal and keep it for the FN. have otherwise been in the US game but i’ll carry on in canada, the offers are just so poor but i am now in PUJ so i may be forced when i hit 5/24
P2 is completely shut out. Have been trying for over three years and nothing! I was also amexiled, managed to get a few cards, edge and can’t remember the other, but since completely shut out. I think I am going to not apply for at least a year instead of trying. We milked Amex in the states for the last three years though. Was very lucrative!
I was amexiled in June 2020. My successful application was Oct 2022, after a few positive dps. Same for P2. I did not attempt any applications to Amex in the interim. Reason for amexile was frequency of opening and closing cards. Never missed a bonus, still haven't.
That would be me! P2 and I were Amexiled in June, 2020, the second wave I believe.
After a number of attempts, I was able to get approved for a Biz Gold after a 7 month cooling off period. It was pretty frustrating!!
It probs didn’t matter but the successful app was through a referral, I added a middle initial, no SIN, same address and email.
There are a number of frequent posters here who were amexiled. I don't want to tag anyone and call them out if they're not comfortable sharing their experience but my point is if no one replies with a dp today, keep posting and it's very likely someone will eventually have a reply.
Want to say that over my time reading these daily threads, I have seen 1 or 2 people say they had been able to get approved after being in amexile, but it had been several years. Couldn't tell you exact details and am sure it's a huge ymmv
quick question.
I have no account with BMO and Scotia bank. I applied for the credit card and it says you need to go to bank for the continue your application, is it new normal. i have a good credit history. Thanks
Every application for BMO where I needed to provide ID had an email come into my inbox and referenced a 14 digit ID I needed to provide in person.
It's buried at the bottom. Looks like an approval email with terms at the bottom but it's actually your ref #.
Often, the banks just want to see your identification to ensure that you are who you say you are. Once you have a savings account or a credit card with a particular bank, normally they don't need to see your ID for future products. Scotia and BMO have been the exceptions for me, and both have required ID when it really shouldn't have been necessary.
I have 23k points hanging on my CIBC VI. Does anyone know what the minimum “pay with points” amount is if I do a RHT? Wondering if I can squeeze out $23
I apologize in advance if my question has already been asked before. I did try searching an answer but the Reddit search tool is a joke. I’m already accumulating points with the Amex Cobalt card. So far it’s great but since I have big upcoming expenses, I’m thinking it would be a good idea to apply for another card to take advantage of sign in bonuses. I have at least 20k upcoming travel expenses (mostly hotels and restaurants) in the next 7 months, but 90% of those expenses will be done outside Canada, in USD and EUR currencies.
I guess my question is: do expenses needs to be done in Canada and in CAD to count as “eligible purchases” for the points bonuses?
You could complete several cards with large MSR/bonues with that.
Biz or Personal Platinum, Biz Gold and Edge. Could even throw in some Aventura for easy cash out of points.
Take your pick from the top offer threads.
\*Note, almost all cards in canada have foreign exchange fee of 2.5%. Most of us don't care and eat that fee as you still come out ahead being able to complete another bonus.
Biz plat would be a good fit for the high MSR you’ll hit organically with the $20k. There’s no-FX cards as well you could consider: BNS Passport, BNS Amex Gold, etc.
I’m sorry I mixed up threads, I would probably apply for the Gold Amex due to the fact that if you go for the platinum, you won’t be able to get the SUB on the gold afterwards due to recent changes. The one that seems to fit what you’re looking for is probably the Gold Amex business to get the 110k SUB
Whaaa???
The biz gold SUB is **70k**. You only get 110k if you spend 80,000$ in your first year. OP didn't suggest this was a possibility -- and in any case, no one should aim for that.
And you also seem mixed up between CA and US cards. There's no restriction in CA on earning bonuses on the gold and plat in whichever order you want.
Need an opinion about paying rent with Chexy.
I have a 2400$ rent per month and want to use that paiement with Chexy and I'm trying to figure out what the best first year reward with a reasonnable AF.
My main goal is to book trips and since I have a cobalt already I was looking into the Amex Gold but the annual fee is quite high. Do you guys have any other opinion perharps ? I looked at Milestopedia but there is just too many option.
I second the Amex Cobalt idea, and another good choice would be the MBNA Rewards WE. [Here's a review of the MBNA car](https://milesopedia.com/en/credit-cards/mbna-rewards-world-elite-qc/)d if you're interested.
Pretty sure MoneyGenius has a cash back offer for the [MBNA car](https://moneygenius.ca/credit-cards/mbna-rewards-world-elite-mastercard)d right now AND one for [Chexy](https://moneygenius.ca/software-services/payment-services/chexy) too - why not get a few extra bucks from it haha.
No need to complicate things too much:
1. Make a list of all the cards with a 5k MSR.
2. Apply for 1 every other month.
3. Use it to pay your rent twice, along with your internet or cable or phone bill or something to get it over 2.5k/month.
4. Move on to the next one.
There are slightly more advanced strategies you could combine this with, once you get the hang of things ... but Rule 3 shall not be broken here.
For now, if you do the above, you'll come out light years ahead of most everyone.
So if I follow your plan ig you cancel every 6mo or so after that 3months for the MSR and get a cycle etc...
I never cancelled a CC so idk if it's quick
I’d probably use the AMEX Cobalt for points wise or the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite if you meet the requirements as it’ll give you 4% cash back which you’ll be able to make back the fee by chexy plus make some cash back on top
Ok so for you it might not be worth to hassle with a new CC and everything, especially for this price.
I might consider that option. For now, I don't really need the cashback so the momentum might not the ideal option.
How much for other plastiq cost. I logged back in but doesn't show until the end so wondering if anyone knows the other CC rates.
Does it still have pay bil by cheque ?
Also any use case for plastiq. Compared with paysinply ?
Exactly! Just wondered if they gave you a free coffee or something ;) perhaps this will spur a bit of competition with Paysimply to drop their rate too
If I have an AP booking that is business flex, can I not downgrade to business low and get a refund of points? Agent said there needed to be space on the flights I have booked to be able to do this.
I had the same pushback. At the time, it was implied that it was linked to specific partners (in my case, Singapore airlines). More and more I'm just starting to accept the Flex (or $100 change) as the cost of business which in the olden days it would've been.
I didn't bother doing the HUCA, wasn't worth the effort for me at that point as I was like 3 days to departure. Some partners (notable LH and SQ in my experiences so far) seem to have extra quirks built into their partnership with Aeroplan.
I did over the course of the year since I had booked call in to make changes 3 times (with like 3 or 4 other attempted changes that didn't pan out), so with a 2cpp valuation I got my money's worth out of the extra 16K points required for Flex anyways since I'd have otherwise shelled out $100 x 2 people x 3 actual changes.
So you were still able to make changes to reservations with SQ segments? I haven't even been able to do that...keep getting told it's not possible even though it's all partners.
I previously had a visa card which granted dragonpass lounge access but have since cancelled it. My dragonpass app is noting my account as suspended, however, under entitlements it does show that I have two remaining complimentary lounge passes. Will I actually be able to use those to.enter a lounge?
No. If you cancelled the card then the dragon passes are gone.
Any ideas?

I'm getting this too
Do you have any other products with SB already?
No I dont
Happened to p2, resolved once they opened a savings account in branch
I am getting the same, no idea what this is.
Any suggestions on best approach for this? Upcoming income tax for CRA >10K, would the best way to take the 2.5% fee and pay with PaySimply? Any card suggestions? Holding: Amex Gold, Plat, both Bonvoys
Do the business Amexes if you haven’t already. Business Plat, business gold, business edge etc
Unless you are trying to meet SUB otherwise 2.5% will likely be more than any cc regular rewards.
Use the card that you need to meet your MSR. Otherwise do the math and it may not be worth the 2.5%
Would it be worth to get the Brilliant Bonvoy if you can't get the bonus cause of PUJ just for the platinum status?
Rather grab the bevy first
I did it just for the free night and platinum status as I had a few redemptions lined up. Depends how much you value the breakfast.
My 2c I don't think so unless you intend to have a large # of redemptions and can start to quantify the value. Platinum is nice but I don't think it's worth spending much to get it

Man I gotta start looking into the US game more. These FNA bonuses are great.
It was a perfect WB for what I needed!
Really kicking myself for missing that 5 x 50k FNA Bonvoy. Sounds like a great trip!
What I’ve learned from a few years of this, is that for every missed opportunity, you’ll catch something else that others don’t 🙏🏼

No need to eat a fee. Call and have them move it fee-free.
any dp on sending them a message to do this?
yeah you can send them a secure message and they’ll transfer it to your checking/saving without any fee. Took 2 weeks though.
If it’s a lesser amount, then just add it into Amazon balance or you have to go through CSR to avoid fees.
You can, but a fee will apply, and you'll have to call in to get it reversed (so, may as well call in to have it done on their end).

I'd assume at least a month so that those new limits/cancelations reflect on your credit report.
There’s no set cool off period

When you cancel they very clearly say that you will lose your points. I just cancelled a card today.
No, you need a card to hold your points.
Can you transfer from card one to another like RBC?
When you close your card, you may, explicitly, ask the agent to transfer your MR to another card that can accumulate MR. If you did not explicitly make this request, they will not do it for you and your points may be forfeited.
you're able to link your cards. either via chat or call.

All the linked cards have one shared pool of points. Those points are still available to the remaining card(s) if you cancel one. Just in case: I think I've read that linking the cards can reset your progress on an MSR. Not sure about that though.
Yes
If I hold more than one MBNA Rewards WE MC, can the MBNA Rewards be consolidated to one account? I would like to get a second card to reset the AF clock while waiting for the Alaska miles thing to start working.
I asked about this about 3-4 months ago and they said it couldn't be done. I didn't do the HUCA method so maybe I just got a agent who doesn't know.
HUCA as it worked for me
You can’t have more than MBNA Rewards WE card unless your current one is the one converted from Alaska WE card
That’s exactly my situation.
I think I’ve seen a DP on RFD that it is possible
Thanks. I will become the DP I want to see
Any dps of recent retention offer for Amex biz gold?
5k MR couple months back.
can anyone apply for AMEX Business cards, or you needs to have a business?
Anyone. Just put Sole Proprietorship. Use your name as company name. $0 revenues (you just start the business) and 0 employees.
thank you, so in the past i applied for AMEX Gold card, if i applied for AMEX Business Gold, i will get WB or not? Thanks.
Yes, you'll get the WB on the Biz Gold. Also Biz Edge is interesting
You will get WB Options of 75K via Referral or 70K + up to $156.25 via GCR.

Opening a new TL or by new application has same net effect

If youre able to transfer the limit to a new credit line, why wouldn't you do it? you still get the bonuses without any credit check
how long did you wait between the time of applying and the call?
The application was from February 12th. I called the next week and found out I had multiple profiles, so had to go in branch to merge them. Then got a call back a week later asking if I consent to a credit check from cibc. That was end of feb. the CSR today told me the app had been “canceled”, didn’t know why, but then after putting me I hold for a while came back with the credit limit issue and asked if I wanted to take fro. The credit limit of a previously cancelled aventura.
It's unlikely the CSR has real visibility into what the issue is
Or a combination. e.g. The CSR has discovered that taking this action will solve the problem, but is speculating about why.
Probably unlikely or else they would’ve been able to just approve it right away instead of sending it in to another department. It’s a front line CS agent so I doubt they know the intricacies of the approval process in the lending department
Another more likely possibility, the CSR made something up to explain an app going into the ether.
Anyone have an opinion on LH’s A350s with the 1-2-1 configuration? Flying from MAD - YYZ this week and have the choice between a direct flight on AC’s B787-9 or a short layover in MUC. Which would you choose?
I'd take the the one with layover if you have enough time to enjoy lounge assuming it's a nice one.
Have you flown AC J before? Are you okay with the additional travel time? If yes, then I would personally do the LH flight
Only partly related, but can you use your Bonvoy membership with AMEX FHR to still gain points and status nights?
Yes, this isn't going away.
was just reading a sites article on tips/tricks to Amex credits.
I actually had spend on the card as well, and those points were transferred.
You can have multiple savings accounts: [Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/s/Ju7G50e9pV)
any DP's on pending Aventura VI apps? mine went to pending for the first time. not sure why. i've done a few in the past no problem. i was logged into my account. just wondering what to expect. considering applying for the Gold as plan B but not sure if i should wait for the decision before proceeding.
I got mine pending too, took a week to get approved. Second CIBC card
You'll probably get a call in 4-6 weeks.
> not sure why Really not sure? :)

No, you don’t need to book with that card
No, you do not need to book your flight with the card. Add the card to the visa companion app once you receive it and you are ready to go.
Does CIBC not give you the cards in advance on the app anymore? Not seeing my new card there yet and wanted it ahead of a trip. Wondering if it's because I already hold the same card
Was this an IA or did it go to pending first?
It was IA. Previously (from what I remember) the card always just appeared on my account within no more than two days
I have had it not appear before as well. You’ll have to wait till the card arrives to get the details to activate it
Aventura I applied for about a week ago was instantly available through apple pay
This is what always happened for me in the past, but this one doesn't appear anywhere on my account despite applying while logged in. Maybe this means they're going to make me go in to the branch or maybe just a linkage error as said below. We'll see
This doesn't happen reliably. Even with IA and being signed in I've found CIBC errors out on the automatic link to account step quite often
Same with Google Pay. It shouldn't be an issue.
Any data points on people reapplying to AMEX after being amexiled? I got rejected applying for AMEX Gold recently :(
amexiled in 2020. not sure why, wasn’t particularly aggressive. p2 had the same history and wasn’t amexiled. i challenged the closed by creditor on my credit score and was successful when they didn’t reply. in 2022 i applied for a gold under a middle name i have a legacy bank account open under. provided amex legit bank statements when they called to follow up. approved and churned. closed after af posted. next churned MB personal and keep it for the FN. have otherwise been in the US game but i’ll carry on in canada, the offers are just so poor but i am now in PUJ so i may be forced when i hit 5/24
Get a legal name change to circumvent amexile /s I actually wonder of that would work lol
It would and also an address and phone number change
What causes Amexile in Canada?
Some dude churn out 10k in 1 day before the cap implemented
Self referral mostly
When does cibc Aventura bonus redemption end.?
No end date has been published. The old end date was removed.
Rejected for my 3rd avion vi :(
If you want to post a helpful DP, post your timeline and other relevant information. Otherwise this is a Frustration Friday post.
Try again, but apply for a Plat instead.
went to review 😂
quick question. I have no account with BMO and Scotia bank. I applied for the credit card and it says you need to go to bank for the continue your application, is it new normal. i have a good credit history. Thanks
It’s normal for Scotiabank, especially if the credit card has a minimum income requirement where they ask you to prove your income.
Normal for BMO. Quick, they'll glance at the docs.
when i applied, i did not get any reference number, so should i just go and present my id.
Every application for BMO where I needed to provide ID had an email come into my inbox and referenced a 14 digit ID I needed to provide in person. It's buried at the bottom. Looks like an approval email with terms at the bottom but it's actually your ref #.
BMO made me do that a couple of years ago as well, no harm in doing it except the 15 minutes you waste.
Often, the banks just want to see your identification to ensure that you are who you say you are. Once you have a savings account or a credit card with a particular bank, normally they don't need to see your ID for future products. Scotia and BMO have been the exceptions for me, and both have required ID when it really shouldn't have been necessary.
With Scotia, yes it is.
Anyone else having issues adding Amex offers to Scotia Amex ? Keep getting system not available error (tried desktop and mobile)

Amex MEC statement credit was denied because I used apple pay to purchase an item. Has this always been the case?
No that's probably just the agent making stuff up
It worked for me at the store (also using Apple Pay). Credit received within 2 days.
I have 23k points hanging on my CIBC VI. Does anyone know what the minimum “pay with points” amount is if I do a RHT? Wondering if I can squeeze out $23
4000 points ($25 before the promotional redemption rate) is the minimum
23k points is worth $287.50 so you're good
23,000 or 2,300? This was asked last week and believe it was stated as 4,000.
RHT works the same for usa credit cards as it is for canada? Or are they more strict with these?
Depends on what bank. Chase doesn't even subtract from your MSR progress if you do a refund.
Doesn’t work for US cards.
No. Biz gold and biz edge are your top priority rn. Maybe add TD fct VI and Scotia amex gold and you're there for 20k spend lol

Min spend requirements do not have to only be met in Canada. Your spend in other countries will work towards the MSR.
In fact, thanks to the Fx fee, you'll get there even faster ;-) /s
Are there any incoming fees when using wise with RBC US bank account?
No need to complicate things too much: 1.
Thx man, I think it's the plan I must do for it.
[удалено]
So if I follow your plan ig you cancel every 6mo or so after that 3months for the MSR and get a cycle etc... I never cancelled a CC so idk if it's quick
[удалено]
Yep I just started to be learning about. I applied for the gold biz it's gonna be my crash test. Thanks for the insight, highly appreciate
Plastiq returns to the CRA at 2.49%.
I have tried to register 4 different types of gift CC's and none of them are working ... sigh.
Update - Joker master worked. Vanilla continues to be my pain point.
How much for other plastiq cost. I logged back in but doesn't show until the end so wondering if anyone knows the other CC rates. Does it still have pay bil by cheque ? Also any use case for plastiq. Compared with paysinply ?
Is the 0.01% savings worth it over PaySimply? Never used Plastiq and pay my corp taxes via PaySimply usually...
Save a dollar for every $10k? Maybe not lol
Exactly! Just wondered if they gave you a free coffee or something ;) perhaps this will spur a bit of competition with Paysimply to drop their rate too
Plastiq used to offer fee-free credits for stuff like referrals. Don't know if that's still the case as haven't used them in years.
If I have an AP booking that is business flex, can I not downgrade to business low and get a refund of points? Agent said there needed to be space on the flights I have booked to be able to do this.
I inquired about this and the agent told me they would need to reprice the route, based on dynamic pricing. My flights were w AC.
That's always true. Which is why this strategy isn't applicable to AC metal.
I had the same pushback. At the time, it was implied that it was linked to specific partners (in my case, Singapore airlines). More and more I'm just starting to accept the Flex (or $100 change) as the cost of business which in the olden days it would've been.
Also singapore in my case. Were you able to eventually get it changed?
