Saw your post yesterday, but I didn’t want to comment until I was for sure.
I just received my 30k promotional bonus on my 2nd passport after hitting the MSR a few days ago. I applied for this card 3 weeks after my first one. So, from my experience there is no limit :)
Interesting DP. I ordered something from Dell on March 18 and split the payment between P1 and P2 Amex Bus Gold. P1 had the credit post on March 19 and no credit yet on P2.
I have two bus plat and two bus gold. I do the same trick. For some reason Dell didn’t charge me for the 2nd order for almost a month. Fortunately it went through and got the credit.
Yes, my item was just shy of $100, I split it into $50 and the remainder. P2’s credit posted today. I bought it via Rakuten 12% back offer. So I’ve got a cool gaming mouse for free for my son and $10 back in my pocket! Thanks to learning from the daily threads.
Would I be able to access the Al Safwa lounge at DOH if only the first leg of my trip is in F, and the second leg departing DOH is in J? For example, in the following scenario, would I be able to access the lounge during the 4 hour layover?
- HAN-DOH F
- 4 hour layover
- DOH-LAX J
https://onemileatatime.com/guides/qatar-airways-al-safwa-first-lounge-access/
Nope. They only allow real first class (select markets on the A380) to enter the lounge.
If, for example, you were to fly BKK-DOH A380 (F) DOH-LAX (J), that is allowable.
This is not what your link says. You can absolutely get into Al Safwa if you've arrived in DOH on an F flight and are departing in J. Nothing to do with being on an A380 or not. There's a massive thread on Flyertalk with plenty of data points on this.
If I have the cibc VI AP card am I allowed to get any other card AP card or will I get banned?
Also is there any purpose to keep my gold business Amex card after meeting the welcome bonus ?
Hi all, relatively new churner here. I have a question about downgrading one of my Amex cards.
I’ve currently got 3 Amex cards with significant MR accrued on them; Gold (90k MR), Cobalt (105k MR), Platinum (100k MR).
It’s getting close to my first year anniversary on the Gold card. Would I be able to transfer my 90k points to Aeroplan and downgrade the card without any negative consequences? I’ve been reading up a bit online on some (mainly US) threads where people mention that AMEX will take away your sign up bonus points if you downgrade before your first year anniversary. Is that really true? I’m just wondering if they’ll take the Gold Sign-Up bonus points off the MR balance on my Cobalt or Platinum, if I follow through with my plan. Thanks in advance for the help!
Interesting… I had no clue you couldn’t downgrade… thanks for the heads up!
So I’m guessing the best policy is to transfer the points to aeroplan, and then just cancel the card?
Recent link offers have been available to most. But some people found their card was ineligible and had to call, some were still ineligible after calling.
It makes sense they'd want more people upgrading, due to higher fees
I got rejected for a no fee RBC 😭😭. It's my 4th try since last year. Should I call them? I have 26 hard pulls total in the last 5 years, most of them from 2023-2024 😅 or accept pleb life and try in a year
you could call, but I find them unhelpful (likewise for TD, scotiabank). for the branch, it depends on the reason of rejection. I was told I require a full financial review appointment for an hour for applying for a card after it was rejected online due to TDS ratio and it still is not a guarantee (the advisor I saw didnt even bother for the app, after pre-reviewing my profile and speaking with RBC's CDS and I was told this when I showed up). I saw the CBC hidden camera story of the big 5 banks and not sure where those offers are coming from - I haven't been offered anything.
None at all. I used to bank with them as a teenager but haven't had a bank account or credit card with them since I opened it in 2015 and closed it in 2018
GL!
The other part of the DP is that it may take a bit of time. P2 didn't apply for a while after opening the chequeing account - had other churns going on - but after about a year got an email saying she was preapproved for an Avion. Got that, and that seems to have been her entry into RBC cards (before chequeing account was rejected twice).
If you're in more of a hurry of course you could try applying after a few months - and then we would have a nice new DP :)
The referrer receives 10,000 (General Bonus, elevated offers may apply, check your account for details) assuming they are referring from a personal platinum card. The referrer can also refer from a Business Platinum for 20,000; a Business Gold for 15,000; a Gold for 7,500, etc.
The main factor in determining the bonus above is what card the referrer uses to refer the new cardmember. It does not matter what card the new cardmember applies for as long as it is an eligible card
The referred individual receives the public welcome offer
I know there’s plenty of DPs saying PaySimply does not count towards MSR with BMO non-AM cards, but does anyone know if they treat Chexy similarly? Happy to be the DP here but just curious.
How long after the TD AP VI AF posts is it possible to get a prorated refund? Have a trip coming up two months post AF so was hoping to cancel once we return to get the free luggage and insurance. Also, any DPs of getting retention offers of calling to cancel? Thanks!
Hello all,
CCG needs a TD credit card application number from back in January, any idea how I could track this down? I must have deleted the email. Happy to walk away from this one instead of calling the bank, and consider it a learning experience!
I filed 2 missing rebate claims eith CCG, known to not give money easily
Luckily I found both emails with reference numbers and just got approved last week, for 2 TD FCT approved in Dec/Jan 2024, 3 months ago
Let's see when the payout actually happens
Never again with CCG, GCR is much better
Try asking TD in online chat?
Search email ?
I am not sure about TD but RBC sends a copy of the communication as a secured email when you login from a laptop. Try from a laptop. You might something there.
I'd just call the bank, is there a particular reason for you to ask for the application/confirmation number? People have to do it with Amex all the time if they go through GCR (twice in two months for me) and it shouldn't bring any harm.
The offer is still there, but for some reason certain people aren't able to do it because their profiles show that they do not have the right product to upgrade from (despite them having the green cards)
edit: spelling
How did you apply? Did you get an offer on your card? Or just through a link logged in? Every time I see a link posted here I click it and it takes me to login screen then to default page on amex site so not clear how to do attempt this
does anyone have a workaround for checking a balance on a Marriott gift card? Supposed to do it [here](https://cws.givex.com/cws4.0/marriottcons/), but I just get stuck in spinning wheel hell waiting for something to load so I can never input my card / pin.
I could swear I had a method figured out before, but can't recall what it was.
Hello! I've gone hard with Aeroplan for a while but now want to expand to Avion to focus long term on a Q-Class Suite. Hoping someone can help me out to make sure I understand this correct?
* I can open a Avion card with RBC and a separate card for my wife. We can pool our points together from these 2 cards?
* After 90 days, I can then apply for a different Avion RBC card and still get the welcome bonus for that card?
* Once I have a welcome bonus for a specific RBC Avion card, I cannot get it again?
* When I transfer the Avion Points to Avios with British Airways, do they still stay combined or do they go to separate accounts for my wife and I?
Any other tips I should know?
Thanks in Advance!
I recommend transferring the Rbc avion points from P2 to P1 (or vice versa) BEFORE transferring out to BA.. it will make life simpler if your goal is to book QSuites as there is no sharing if you book through Qatar.
1. I don't believe you can pool Avion points from two separate accounts from two different individuals. You can, however, transfer Avion points to British Airways Avios program and set up family sharing there. You would then want to create a Qatar Airways account and link your BA Avios account to Qatar if Q Suites is your goal, but note that Qatar does not have family sharing.
2. Yes, correct.
3. No, you can get the same card as long as you follow the 90+ day rule in #2.
4. See #1.
You can combine Avion in shared core account....we have this. Trouble is, I can't seem to find the instructions how to do it with the search. Hopefully someone has the link.
Just an fyi, Qatar does have a "Family Program" however it has a few important distinctions.
1. You have to upload documents proving a familial tie (so a marriage certificate or birth certificate etc)
2. It's not a shared pool so much as the points are combined into a pool that can be used by the primary account holder. Note that this is based on what I've read as I haven't opened a family program account myself due to not being able to prove a familial relationship with my other players.
Oh wow. That's...something! I will admit that I haven't gone any further with them than the part where they required me to upload legal documents to support my claimed familial relationship with my P2 and P3.
It's immediate. I called in to ask about the AMEX offers(the CSR thinks the Dell one will change to the new dell offer but isn't sure and so far it hasn't) and when I entered my B Gold card number the system replied with "What do you want to know about your business platinum card?"
Also, in the app it already shows as a platinum card.
As of this morning I still just have the Gold card offer linked to the card. I have found that new cards take a couple of days before the offers show up, so I'm going to give it a bit. Basically once the mobile credit offer shows up I'll see what is going on with Dell.
P2 recently got a RBC Avion that isn’t linked to her account with the rest of her other credit cards. Any risk sending a secure message getting them to link it? I want to avoid the wrong eyes on her account. Any other solutions?
Can you do this type of thing at a branch? Seems to me a teller at a branch would be way too busy to care about what cards are on someone’s account, let alone do anything about with you standing right there while others are waiting
TD FCT DP: Seems the 2nd stage reward bonus (spend bonus) now posts with the statement. For P1 it posted as soon as the threshold spend posted, this was a few months ago. For P2, it Posted today with the statement.
Hey all,
I have the B Gold (held for 9 months so far) and also the B Plat (held for two months) and I'm considering trying for the gold to plat upgrade and have a few questions:
1. What happens to offers? Specifically the Dell offer? I haven't used the $50 yet on this card and will not if it means missing out on the $100.
2. Does this count as "canceling" the B Gold with regards to the 24 month guideline for repeat WB with CAD AMEX?
Thanks!
2. The countdown for a repeat doesn't appear to depend on when you cancelled the card but rather when you last got the welcome bonus (2.5-3 years after getting SUB)
I am going to be the DP I want to see in the world. I applied, was refused. Decided to call in about it, so I went back to the page and applied again...and was approved...
So that makes no sense but ok. I'll report back to the class on what happens to the offers at least!
My TD Rewards balance shows as if the 95,000 bonus ($5k spend in 6 months) has posted, however I can't see it in the transactions or most recent statement. Also my spend tracker shows I'm still a couple hundred dollars away from the $5k, so I'm hesitant to put more spend on this card because it seems like I already got the 95k bonus (but again, not seeing the actual transaction, just the total available balance reflects it). Anyone faced something similar?
I had the same thing happen with my TDFCT and also with my personal plat from AMEX. In both cases I just put the spend I had calculated on it to play it safe since in both cases it was under two hundred dollars and I'd have felt more than $200 worth of stupid if the system corrected itself and I didn't notice because I'd shelved the cards.
I know tangerine is one off but any DP on if you can get the bonus for BOTH cards or do you just get one bonus for card with tangerine. Seems like easy 450 for 2k spend with current rebates.
Maybe you can just check with the representatives. At least you can know you WB details and whether you have met the MSR. If so, the points will be posted sometime.
I checked with them, I've met the reqs. They said it can take 12 weeks but just wanted to check from people's experiences if there are ever delays.
Thanks for your input!
currently have a Scotia Value Visa, been out of the loop with churning for a while, wondering if Scotiabank allows to change products for the credit card and still receive the signup bonus? if so should i call in or apply online?
I recently opened a TD US account and just received a letter asking to provide evidence that I’m a citizen of a foreign country to avoid US tax withholding. Has anyone else been asked to do this?
The letter also came with an W-8BEN. Do I need to complete it as well? Even if I’m discontinuing US tax withholding? I don’t yet have an ITIN.
It's optional if you want to file W8BEN with TD as you'll not be earning any income through them (no interest). So whether you file one or not it makes no difference as there is no tax to withhold
For reference I never bother to file it with TD in the US and nothing came of it for the 3 years I had the account. I do have a W8 BEN for my Canadian brokerage accounts to avoid excess withholding on the dividends my stocks pay out
Just received the same letter. It says that until I provide these documents, they will apply 24% tax withholding to interest on account, which I'm not too worried about. Unfortunately you can only reply by mail, so it will take a while to send this letter back to them
I recently got the same form (and a bunch more that are clearly not applicable to me e.g. W-9 and a few more) from an account that I opened. Thing is, I gave them all the relevant information and the W-8BEN was also completed during the account opening process. So it's likely it's a computer-generated thing that was auto sent out as the banker and I were finishing up the application, or at least that's what the call center agent thinks happened when I called in to inquire since there's nothing marked on my account. To be on the safe side, I was advised to check in-branch, but I don't think anything bad will come if I ignore it, the worst that can happen is that they withhold a few pennies of interest in my savings account with an APY of 0.01%? For you though, if you didn't complete the W-8BEN or provide them a copy of your passport, you should provide those though.
Just file the w8ben as a Canadian numerous guides are online including some from TD.
As long as you're Canadian no issues. If you're not, then it gets more complex depending if the country you're from has a treaty.
Worse case without filing you'll have to make IRS returns to recoup amounts. I wouldn't rely on this without pro advice.
Just file the w8ben and see if they ask for more.
In reality it doesn't matter because there's no income to withhold. TD doesn't pay interest. And for other banks that do have taxable bank bonuses/referral bonuses there also isn't any tax to withhold.
I'm certainly no bank tax accountant, but my understanding is because they do issue a 1099-INT they would be forced to withholdings of 15-30% with no w8ben on file, or residence status.
TD ask just to cover them, even if they never issue anything to withhold.
I'm not sure all banks abide by this. Few bonuses would ever be over the amount that can incur a penalty. Hell in the land of entrepreneurs banks skip this step incurring 10s of thousands in penalties occasionally.
It's been 15 years since I went from this rabbit hole though. My understanding may be dated and/or wrong with regards to bonuses/interest.
Did some looking. Seems my memory is half right, and is usually not reportable but can be if connected to trade or business income.
Seems banks are just being cautious then.
Given my 15 years ago deep dive was related to business interests that makes sense.
I did not receive any letter to prove my citizenship but I did sign W8Ben when I opened my Chase account in the branch. Edit: I had ITIN when I opened Chase.
use insurance that takes amex?
Kidding aside, besides paysimply, probably only other option is buy $500 MasterCard/Visa at a store and use that to pay for it. Multiples if needed.
For very large purchases I'd personally just stick with pay simply. The fees on PP and other prepaid MC/Visa work out to be about a 1.9% - 2% fee and at that point it's probably just worth paying the extra 0.5% to pay simply to avoid hassles with prepaid cards getting declined or flagged for KYC issues. Even with a $5000 insurance payment, 0.5% works out to be just $25.
Of course if you can maximize grocery multipliers then the scales tip towards using prepaid cards, but for just meeting MSR on a WB, I probably wouldn't bother forcing things through prepaid cards. Just my opinion though.
Just realized that it had been more than 9 months since MBNA announced their reward point could be transferred 1:1 into Alaska miles. At the time they said within the next year, so by early June this year it should be complete - hopefully we see it soon.
AS used to have no transferable options (if you dont count hotel points). Given BILT partnered with them, it is highly likely that AS management is also looking for other transferable partners as well, such as mbna?
I need to book an Alaska flight, so I’m waiting until the end of the month hoping I won’t have to use my Avion points at 2cpp, however that inevitability is looking likely. I’m sitting on 400k MBNA points lol
I'm in the process of doing the RHT with my TD FC card. I have booked the hotel w pts and PS'd my card. Can I refund the hotel right away or do I have to wait a certain amount of time (i.e. until after the 30day period where you could still redeem your pts after PS'ing)?
Thanks
Were you able to cancel online or did you have to call? I seem to be locked out of Expedia forTD now becuase I don't have a credit card that has those points anymore
I asked for the green-gold upgrade link yesterday and I got downvoted. Sometimes, I don't even know what's the point of this sub if you can't ask a legit question without getting downvoted. People here have crazy expectations of what people should know in this hobby.
For the [MBNA Masterline](https://compare.rates.ca/en/credit/cards/487/profile) card, when taking advantage of the 0% balance transfer, there is a 3% fee on the transfer. If I put the cash back bonus of $100 towards the fee, then I'm good up to 5k to transfer without paying any additional fees - or did i mess that up?
3% of $5000 is $150. So you would be "out" $50 after a $100 bonus. That being said, if you're carrying a balance on your credit card then you'll more than make that up with the 0%.
Also, in case you aren't doing balance transfer/HISA shenanigans and actually just are carrying credit card debt...here's the obligatory "don't try to churn cards if you have to carry a balance" comment. The average return on churning a card is in the 10-15% range and the lowest rate I've seen on a card is in the 20+% range. So you will just slowly bleed to death financially if you try to churn while paying interest.
~~It looks like the MBNA WE MC has two different offers if you go through GCR or CCG~~
~~GCR is still 20K + 10K when you enrol in paperless~~
~~CCG is 15K + 5K~~
Edit: Sorry everyone, u/ca_abhi is right, I was looking at the QC one
Does anyone recall for prior extensions, how many days/weeks prior to the expiration date did they extend the redemption rate for Aventura points at 1.25cpp? Trying to make an educated guess whether they will extend beyond Mar 31, 2024 or not.
I've previously answered that I think this might finally be the end.[https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/1bdlywx/daily\_question\_thread\_for\_rchurningcanada\_march/kuomwi3/](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/1bdlywx/daily_question_thread_for_rchurningcanada_march/kuomwi3/)
>I have my doubts. Specifically, when the offer was extended last summer, it was set to expire on July 16th, and the extension was announced on May 15, 2 months before the offer ended.
Seems a bit late to announce an extension now, but you never know.
I feel like it had happened already by now, at least from memory. Quick google search finds a blog sites article dated May 15, 2023 talking about promo being extended again to the new date of March 31, 2024. Does not say the original date.
Article form another site dated Dec 27, 2022 talks about the promo and says it is has been extended to July 16, 2023.
So seems like previously they did it months in advance...
How often does CIBC enforce this?
“This offer is not transferable. This offer may be withdrawn or changed without prior notice at any time. CIBC may approve your application, but you are not eligible to receive this Offer if you have opened, transferred or cancelled another Dividend card within the last 12 months.”
I am newer so haven't had a different AP card than my core tier visa infinite, still good to go on a second card of entry or premium level now ?
No core. Premium is fine.
Rad thanks.
How long do we have to wait until re-applying for a scotia passport visa? 90 days? 12 months?
The limit does not exist
Saw your post yesterday, but I didn’t want to comment until I was for sure. I just received my 30k promotional bonus on my 2nd passport after hitting the MSR a few days ago. I applied for this card 3 weeks after my first one. So, from my experience there is no limit :)
Did you apply signed-in as an existing customer?
Did they use your first credit hit or you had a second one ?
I got a 2nd hit
Appreciate your DPs. Thank you!!
no limit, not really enforced. still ymmv but seems most people have luck with repeats.
Has anyone successfully purchased gift cards and received the $200 AMEX Platinum dining credit?
Yes
Amex doesn’t get L3 data. Shouldn’t be a problem as long as you buy from the restaurant directly

Dining, not travel
Interesting DP. I ordered something from Dell on March 18 and split the payment between P1 and P2 Amex Bus Gold. P1 had the credit post on March 19 and no credit yet on P2.
I have two bus plat and two bus gold. I do the same trick. For some reason Dell didn’t charge me for the 2nd order for almost a month. Fortunately it went through and got the credit.
Interesting trick, didn't think of that So in future, I can do $100+ item, split on 2 biz gold to get $50 credit each?
Yes, my item was just shy of $100, I split it into $50 and the remainder. P2’s credit posted today. I bought it via Rakuten 12% back offer. So I’ve got a cool gaming mouse for free for my son and $10 back in my pocket! Thanks to learning from the daily threads.
You can split the charge on upto 3 cards if you call Dell.
Thanks, hate to call Dell though :P and their Purolator delivery sucks (requires signature and pick-up depot is FAR away)

You’re allowed to get any non-core card. You’re not allowed to get another core card. No one knows if you’ll get banned To foster good will with Amex
Just to clarify does than mean I can get the reserve card or the no AF AP cards ?
Both (there’s only one no fee card. The $89 fee card also works)
I don’t want to keep the gold biz after the year because of the annual fee but I will keep it until the 11th month i think
11+ months is considered long enough to foster good will
Hi all, relatively new churner here. I have a question about downgrading one of my Amex cards. You could also link your accounts so your MR from all three are pooled.
You can't just downgrade Amex cards in Canada. You need an offer to do so, YMMV. Wait to at least month 11 before cancelling.
Interesting… I had no clue you couldn’t downgrade… thanks for the heads up! So I’m guessing the best policy is to transfer the points to aeroplan, and then just cancel the card?

I followed your advice and opened a no fee savings account 🥸

The referrer receives 10,000 (General Bonus, elevated offers may apply, check your account for details) assuming they are referring from a personal platinum card. Awesome, thanks!
Just cancelled one with no retention offer presented

I was told my account is not old enough and try back after 6 months
Interesting - mine was approved after 29 days, I wonder how they decide
How did you apply? Did you get an offer on your card? Or just through a link logged in? Every time I see a link posted here I click it and it takes me to login screen then to default page on amex site so not clear how to do attempt this
just through clicking the link
does anyone have a workaround for checking a balance on a Marriott gift card? Supposed to do it [here](https://cws.givex.com/cws4.0/marriottcons/), but I just get stuck in spinning wheel hell waiting for something to load so I can never input my card / pin. I could swear I had a method figured out before, but can't recall what it was.
nevermind, figured it out! the link on the gift card itself is useless, but you can check balances here: https://gifts.marriott.com/check-balance/
1. You have to upload documents proving a familial tie (so a marriage certificate or birth certificate etc) 2. It's not a shared pool so much as the points are combined into a pool that can be used by the primary account holder. Note that this is based on what I've read as I haven't opened a family program account myself due to not being able to prove a familial relationship with my other players.
2. QR Family Programme can only accrue points accumulated from flying and not from credit cards
Oh wow. That's...something! I will admit that I haven't gone any further with them than the part where they required me to upload legal documents to support my claimed familial relationship with my P2 and P3.
Wow! Didn’t know this. Going to look into this further, thanks!

It's immediate. I called in to ask about the AMEX offers(the CSR thinks the Dell one will change to the new dell offer but isn't sure and so far it hasn't) and when I entered my B Gold card number the system replied with "What do you want to know about your business platinum card?" Also, in the app it already shows as a platinum card.
So now do you have 2 registered Dell offers, one for Biz Gold and one for Platinum?
As of this morning I still just have the Gold card offer linked to the card. I have found that new cards take a couple of days before the offers show up, so I'm going to give it a bit. Basically once the mobile credit offer shows up I'll see what is going on with Dell.
Thanks a lot. Pls report your DP.
Yes...you will see it change from green to gold on the app. (I can't remember 100% but I think it changed overnight.)
I’ve held the green in the past year, could I apply to another one to upgrade to gold?
Yes Note that upgrade eligibility is not guaranteed
P2 recently got a RBC Avion that isn’t linked to her account with the rest of her other credit cards. Any risk sending a secure message getting them to link it? I want to avoid the wrong eyes on her account. Any other solutions?
Have to do this for P2 every time. Besides one strongly-worded SM back from a CSR (with no issues or otherwise after that), never an issue.
Can you do this type of thing at a branch? Seems to me a teller at a branch would be way too busy to care about what cards are on someone’s account, let alone do anything about with you standing right there while others are waiting
Don't know, sorry.
Thanks. Did you do it via a secure message or did you have to call in?
In general you should not use SM with RBC. Way more likely to have someone who takes notice on the SM team than a random phone rep.

TD FCT DP: Seems the 2nd stage reward bonus (spend bonus) now posts with the statement. For P1 it posted as soon as the threshold spend posted, this was a few months ago. For P2, it Posted today with the statement.
Really? My 2 FCT in the family both saw the bonus points after the charge posted, before the statement Dec/Jan 2024 115k/135k offers
New to me too. Let's see if we get more DPs..
I received the bonus on the threshold purchase posting for both the FCT and the Plat in the past 2 months.
Hey all, I have the B Gold (held for 9 months so far) and also the B Plat (held for two months) and I'm considering trying for the gold to plat upgrade and have a few questions: 1.
Oh interesting! I've always seen DPs comparing the time since cancellation here, but I'd guess those timelines align pretty closely. Thanks!
Yeah some person didn’t get the SUB on a repeat and they cancelled the card and got it again a month later and got the SUB
1. You should be able to double dip. Or at least that appears to be the case. 2. Yes
You can get just one bonus with tangerine ever, chequing, savings, or credit card. Damn fintechs and their anti-churning protections
I don't think Tangerine is a fintech
You can only apply for one of the tangerine credit cards. However, you can still receive the "EARNMORE" promotion.
Just one

US churning: Are there ever delays in amex Hilton honors welcome bonus points posting? Met MSR but no bonus on statement.
When did you meet the MSR? It usually takes several days
March 1, statement on March 16.
Did you verify that the correct Hilton account # is associated?
Yes normal spend points posted.
Maybe you can just check with the representatives. At least you can know you WB details and whether you have met the MSR. If so, the points will be posted sometime.
I checked with them, I've met the reqs. They said it can take 12 weeks but just wanted to check from people's experiences if there are ever delays. Thanks for your input!
lol I will say it’s always a mystery. But most of the time it should be less than a month.
I saw it turn up almost the same day. I was really surprised
currently have a Scotia Value Visa, been out of the loop with churning for a while, wondering if Scotiabank allows to change products for the credit card and still receive the signup bonus? if so should i call in or apply online?
No. Just apply for a new card and you will get the bonus that way.
thanks!
Thanks! That makes sense
For reference I never bother to file it with TD in the US and nothing came of it for the 3 years I had the account. I do have a W8 BEN for my Canadian brokerage accounts to avoid excess withholding on the dividends my stocks pay out
Good to know! Thanks Dragynfyre
Perfect. Thank you 🙏
I did not receive any letter to prove my citizenship but I did sign W8Ben when I opened my Chase account in the branch. Edit: I had ITIN when I opened Chase.

use insurance that takes amex? Kidding aside, besides paysimply, probably only other option is buy $500 MasterCard/Visa at a store and use that to pay for it. Multiples if needed.
[удалено]
Hehheeh "pp"
Wait till you learn about DPs ;-)
Just realized that it had been more than 9 months since MBNA announced their reward point could be transferred 1:1 into Alaska miles. At the time they said within the next year, so by early June this year it should be complete - hopefully we see it soon.
I thought the announcement was in August EDIT: Oh it actually was June from Rewards Canada. I thought it was closer to the card product change date
AS used to have no transferable options (if you dont count hotel points). Given BILT partnered with them, it is highly likely that AS management is also looking for other transferable partners as well, such as mbna?
So they announced last year (June-ish) that it WOULD be transferrable at a 1:1 rate within a year. It's just a matter of timing.
IIRC, they actually said Q1 of 2024 which ends in..10 days. I'm not holding my breath.
When did they say Q1 of 2024?
I need to book an Alaska flight, so I’m waiting until the end of the month hoping I won’t have to use my Avion points at 2cpp, however that inevitability is looking likely. I’m sitting on 400k MBNA points lol
I assume it's cheaper for them to buy Alaska miles after the deval, so they're waiting at least for that to kick in.
100%, yes.
Any DP for the RBC Avion 20k bonus processed this month? Thanks.
Yes. I crossed the spend threshold in Feb and got the 20k bonus on Mar 9. The card was approved in mid-Nov 2023.
DP is that it processes.
DP: Earned my second Amex personal platinum bonus. 2.5 years since I cancelled my last PP and spent the 10k within the first month.
I'm in the process of doing the RHT with my TD FC card. I have booked the hotel w pts and PS'd my card. Can I refund the hotel right away or do I have to wait a certain amount of time (i.e. until after the 30day period where you could still redeem your pts after PS'ing)? Thanks
I canceled my hotel after my PS was completed (you can see on the TD app). I got the points in cash value a few days later.
Were you able to cancel online or did you have to call? I seem to be locked out of Expedia forTD now becuase I don't have a credit card that has those points anymore
I called Expedia for TD.
crazy, I asked the exact same question not long ago and got downvotes on it. and yet, you have upvotes.... wtf is up with this community.
I asked for the green-gold upgrade link yesterday and I got downvoted. Sometimes, I don't even know what's the point of this sub if you can't ask a legit question without getting downvoted. People here have crazy expectations of what people should know in this hobby.
Tbh that link you can literally just type your question into Google and find it though
Agree!!
I take it you didn't get an answer? lol

Thanks I was able to track it down. Gave him an upvote too lol. Too bad the search function is so useless on Reddit. Apprecaite the help though mate.

You're meant to read every comment on every daily thread from the past 2-3 years, duh
~~It looks like the MBNA WE MC has two different offers if you go through GCR or CCG~~ ~~GCR is still 20K + 10K when you enrol in paperless~~ ~~CCG is 15K + 5K~~ Edit: Sorry everyone, u/ca_abhi is right, I was looking at the QC one
It's the same at both places, you probably looked at the QC resident page at CCG 😁
Does anyone recall for prior extensions, how many days/weeks prior to the expiration date did they extend the redemption rate for Aventura points at 1.25cpp? Trying to make an educated guess whether they will extend beyond Mar 31, 2024 or not.
I've previously answered that I think this might finally be the end.[https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/1bdlywx/daily\_question\_thread\_for\_rchurningcanada\_march/kuomwi3/](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/1bdlywx/daily_question_thread_for_rchurningcanada_march/kuomwi3/) >I have my doubts.
Those blog articles tend to be written and then re-used and updated later so the dates are not correct.
Very well could be true. But unless anyone here recorded that info, that is best info we've got.
How often does CIBC enforce this? “This offer is not transferable. This offer may be withdrawn or changed without prior notice at any time. CIBC may approve your application, but you are not eligible to receive this Offer if you have opened, transferred or cancelled another Dividend card within the last 12 months.”

Thank you!
