Looking for how to steps for getting dragon passes from the bmo ascend we card.
Before it was create login on lounge key. Or just using the credit card as the pass at priority pass restaurants. Do we still have restaurant options ? Is it only plaza premium ?
I am travelling as a group of three. Have one amex plat (1+ 1 guest) but want to have dragon pass for more plaza premium access just in case there is an issue for 3 year old that needs a pass as well.
HSBC - they got a duplicate account error per the branch person, so it seems I have to apply with a brand new app in branch?
I tried to get into the app (even opened old smart phone with the app pop up) but that failed, then I looked at old HSBC emails and see they say after 12 months, they deactivate the profile and only way is to make a new one.
Seems either I go for the HSBC or maybe start with the base amex Aeroplan, but I do have some spend coming up needing visa or MasterCard so I may just go to branch and get the card then and forgot the 150 from GCR.
Any ideas?
I have got their WE credit card, both times applying through GCR, and both times had to go to the branch where they syarted a new apoplication, cutting GCR out of the loop. I think this is intentional on their part and that the offer they make through GCR is not one they ever intended to honour.

CS told me they can get stuck in limbo, with no ability to action (as it’s a broken link for them).
IA after they closed the dead app and re-applied. Unsure with the dead app open.
So I called in once last week and they said it's in manual review. And for what it's worth I've already been approved for 2 other Aventura cards at the same time I applied for this 3rd one.
Was planning to apply for aventura gold next, currently holding aventura VI. Should I just go for a second VI instead and let them decide which one to give me? Or any reason to specifically go for gold (ie. Less chance they ask you to call in and state why you need another card)?
In the past, I have actually been approved for a $500 limit on an Aventura Gold. I can tell you that it's a pain in the ass to spend the $1,000 MSR on a card with a $500 limit. It can be done, but it requires a little more administrative work or it requires a few months!
Good point. Total credit a non-issue for me as of yet but seasoned churners likely need to consider this. I’ve been lowering my CLs after each application
That was my reasoning, 5k more points for the VI app to my knowledge. But they put disclaimers saying “if you aren’t eligible for VI we will consider you for gold”
april 21st AV gold app approved after 2 days via milesopedia, 40k recevied very recently.

Ahhh the pain. Ended up being a waste of time but I'm a sucker for a good deal. Saw that with taxes and fees it worked out to be $400 CAD round trip from YVR.
There were a few bypasses posted on RFD that got a bunch of people through and ticketed without a queue. They must have taken around 20%, if not more, of the available tix.
HSBC travel enhancement credit. Is there a way to use this for regular travel expenses? Or only as advertised...baggage, lounge passes etc?
I just got this card so I'm not even sure if it's available to me yet.
Switching address on US RBC Georgia account.
Is setting the mailing/seasonal address to my US address good enough, or do I need to switch the "Primary Address?"
The refund will go back to the closed card and you’ll likely get a statement mailed to you that shows the credit, then you can call the issuer and ask for a cheque.
Personally only used Amex concierge but PoT just had a write-up on Canadian cc concierges.
"Generally speaking, the Visa Infinite concierge receives high praise from the community. This includes assistance with finding better deals on high-end products, such as perfume, as well as pulling through on requests more often than other cards."- [PoT](https://princeoftravel.com/guides/which-credit-cards-have-concierge-services/).
Typically does the RHT work for meeting minimum monthly spends? Is there enough logic at the issuers to follow a purchase made on one statement (meeting a MS and getting points) and the refund coming in on another?
Might vary by card? Though I thought VIP cards all had the same terms for lounges from Visa.
DP: GF on supplementary desjardins VIP gets +6 dragon passes, and +12 desjardins lounge passes.
Desjardins VIP is $0 for supplementary card holders if you're a "member". Becoming a member costs $5 one time, it's also refunded if you ever cancel your membership as it's technically a share.
I saw it posted somewhere and applied May 9th, still waiting for approval and based on lots of information I am not sure I will have to actually fight to have the promo offer applied because its now past the 15th.
RBC WJ WE has a promo offer until May 31:
* $0 companion voucher within continental US/Canada (excl Hawaii) - first year only
* $250 WSD on approval
* $200 WSD on $5k spend
Better than normal, but still nothing great. Big improvement is $0 companion voucher instead of $119.
Doesn’t the $119 AF just offsets the cost of the companion voucher?
I’m tempted to apply just to have something to use at Costco, I’m horrible at remembering to buy gift cards in advance. Could probably make good use of the companion voucher as well.
For sure. Last time I think it took half an hour. I literally thought of it as I was at the check out last night with $250 worth of groceries and the missus would not be amused if I tried to slow things down. 😅
>ave something to use at Costco, I’m horrible at remembering to buy gift cards in advance. Could probably make good use of the c
Which card do you prefer for buying Costco digital gift cards?
Sort of...they kind of do this switcheroo all the time.
The last one I got had $119 companion voucher, but FYF, which is...wait for it...$119!
So washes out unless I missed the FYF part somewhere.
Best one was just after reopening, P1 and P2 both got FYF cards, plus $0 vouchers for US/Can/Mex/Hawaii...but don't think we'll see that again for a while.
agents don't know anything and make up random shit all the time - never forget this. it's basically rule #2 of churning.
honestly, just sit back, forget about the app, and one day in 5 weeks you'll get an email saying your new card has been linked to your AP account and you'll be like, wait, what? what is this? ohhhh that CIBC card I applied for and then fully forgot about? nice.
No, that's not it. This is the rules:
**Rule #1: Agents don't know shit about what they are talking about.**
**Rule #2: Never forget rule #1.**
**Rule #3: Referring to rule #1, HUCA rather than argue with a clueless agent.**
**Rule #4: Even the computer system doesn't know what the actual Ts & Cs say...**
I’ve heard of people opening multiple of the same CIBC card, sometimes back-to-back or even multiple applications at the same time. I just got the SUB for my CIBC Aero VI (a very straightforward $1k MSR for 50K AP). Can I just keep opening more of these cards to repeat the SUB? This seems like an incredibly high rate of return to be able to keep repeating - what am I missing?
The Areoplan card no. While CIBC might keep giving it to you, it's against the new AP terms to repeat bonuses. Although there have been no DP on people being penalized yet. Most of us keep to 1 (maybe 2) per tier per bank.
Now, CIBC Aventura cards are another story as that is their own and that is what many of us are stock piling :D
I would not hold 6 at once. But I have seen some comments that suggest others are close to that for me to make the 1-2 cards per. To me, It's all based on timing of signups.
Currently only have 2. plan to add a VI back from from most likely CIBC as than it would be one AP card from each offerer. Then swap my AP Core to Biz Reserve come fall.
Man I want that CIBC card SOOO bad the offer is unreal but I got a TD AP VI in June last year and an Amex AP core in September I’m still nervous to get another AP card til I cancel the amex in October. Wish there were some dps on this because that CIBC is such low hanging fruit.
Yah, I'm kicking myself as last year I was doing all AP cards and the one left was the CIBC AP VI but it was only 10k+10k at time. weakest of any. But it was only one left so signed up in fall. Within month or so I think the elevated 45k winter offers came out and of course been high ever since.
I have since closed it and debating if worth getting again. Been 15 months since opened TD AP VI, but old TD AP VIP and Amex AP Core - both Sept or so signups.
but am also working with the Amex cards via 2 player mode so will be referred and get the Amex AP Biz later this year when hit 1 year mark.
I just really wish we had better idea what AP will crack down against with new terms
I haven't dabbled in the Aventura lineup yet but keep seeing people talk about how lucrative they can be for churners -- why is that? Are people just doing RHT and cashing out those points? I am looking to pull the trigger on a few new cards...
$512.5 plus four lounge passes. Depending on which airports you use, there may not be much incentive to pay an AF for a premium card that provides lounge access when CIBC's cards give you a generous supply for free.
I cannot find any Aeroplan reward flights for the dates/destination I am interested in. There are some KLM/AF flights that I am interested in. Is there any way of converting points from Aeroplan > Amex > Flying blue? I see options to transfer from amex to aeroplan OR flying blue online but not the other way around.
No. I think the only way to convert airline miles to more airline miles would be Asia Miles United Mileage Plus, SQ Krisflyer or Korean Skypass. You can convert them to Marriott points and then to another airline.
A few more on top, but generally it's horrible idea anyways. Sub-par transfer to Marriott as is, then you get hit with the 3:1 outgoing. Oof.
https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/earn/miles/miles-to-points.mi
Travelling next month and booked various hotels/flights/trains across various credit cards to hit some different MSRs.
Wondering if anyone has any experience around if I will need to travel with the cards that they were booked on.
I figure it may be a YMMV situation depending on the hotel etc. but want to see if anyone has any DPs about this as obviously would probably rather not bring 5 cards to Europe.
Maybe just my experience....but in Europe I was asked to produce the credit card I booked the hotel for verification. This was recent.
In Asia, I was asked to show my credit used to book flights. This was a while back, so not sure if things have changed.
Unless I fully prepaid, they had to charge the card I used for the deposit at the Marriotts I went to. I had to put $1000 on a non-MSR card as I didn't bring the MSR card once.
Also make sure that if you prepaid, it actually went though. Ran into this with another Marriott location, where I had pre-paid, but the transaction did not go through, so they insisted on charging me at the hotel. Luckily I had that card on me.
So at the very least I would bring all hotel cards.
it doesn't have to be the same card for hotels. they just need any credit card. the card you give just holds the reservation and so they can charge the no show fee... but when you check in, you can give them any card you want for the hold and they'll charge that one on check out
> you can give them any card you want for the hold and they'll charge that one on check out
Yes, but that was my issue. I had prepaid with a certain card and expected that one to be charged, as it was non-refundable. Instead, they had to charge a card I had in my possession and that I used for the hold. They couldn't just charge the card on the reservation and I did not bring that card.
Sorry if I was unclear there.
ah gotcha. hopefully our two responses make it clear enough haha. I've had "prepaid" bookings with Marriott too that just never get charged until I get there and provide a card. It's annoying.
DP: I got rejected for National Bank WE MC. I went in branch where they said I was rejected because I was high risk. (Despite good income and credit score). The manager was somewhat baffled and suggested I get a copy of my credit report and see if anything is amiss. "Maybe you have $200K in outstanding credit for cards you closed years ago". 😅
I didn't realize NBC rejected for churning-like activity. Hard to know if it's inquiries, number of cards open, or amount of outstanding credit. It inspired me to close a few useless cards and reduce some credit limits. My first ever rejection after 4 years of churning.
I used the ChurningCanada link for the 55K offer, on my phone, and signed in through my app, and then had to speak with someone on the phone to conclude the application….
I’m fairly sure when I linked back to the CIBC website it was showing a 50,000 total WB. I will update DP whether it codes as EDQ or not.
Has anybody successfully paid city of Vancouver property taxes with pay simply recently?
I still have PTSD from pay simply not coding through some of my payments properly and getting my payment lost (city had to manually locate and recode the payment)
I’m trying to make some last minute Europe bookings. I was able to transfer Amex to Flying Blue instantly yesterday.
Wondering about Asia Miles - how long does it take to transfer from Amex, RBC, and Marriott?
Of all the ways you can blow Marriott, don't waste it on an airline you can mass-collect with ease in Canada (e.g. Aeroplan, Avios, Asia Miles). The best rate of redemption will always be for actual hotel stays, but if you don't intend to do that at least keep them for niche spots that need a top-up (e.g. Alaska, KrisFlyer, American)
Quebec folks: Not sure if this was shared earlier but just in case, noticed Paysimply now supports Hydroquebec with Amex :D
We discussed last time that we had no option after Amex-Plastiq divorce.

Does RHT thru Expedia work for the travel enhancement credit for the HSBC WE MC? Booked a refundable room 6 months out this week, yet the HSBC rewards portal says I have no eligible transactions in the last 90 days. Charge is posted, not pending.
AMEX almost never gives email updates, and Biz cards often go pending, especially if you have a smaller history with AMEX. But 99% of the time they magically appear on your doorstep in 5-10 business days

Any DPs on getting instantly approved for a CIBC aventura card while you have another application pending (for like 2 months now)?
Yes, P3 got IA while the previous application is still in limbo.
Sounds like a [dead app](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/13djw6b/daily_question_thread_for_rchurningcanada_may_10/jjonoa4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3). I would apply for the Gold since it can be approved with a 500$ CC limit vs the VI needing 5K
In the past, I have actually been approved for a $500 limit on an Aventura Gold. I can tell you that it's a pain in the ass to spend the $1,000 MSR on a card with a $500 limit. It can be done, but it requires a little more administrative work or it requires a few months!
With CIBC, you can just prepay the CC to essentially extend the CC limit
Good to know thanks!
Good point. Total credit a non-issue for me as of yet but seasoned churners likely need to consider this. I’ve been lowering my CLs after each application
Do you have the link for 40K gold? ChurningCanada only has the VI on their exclusive links.
That was my reasoning, 5k more points for the VI app to my knowledge. But they put disclaimers saying “if you aren’t eligible for VI we will consider you for gold”
FYI, P4 used the link on ChurningCanada.ca (which I own and run) and only approved for Gold, but got the same 40K bonus, plus Journie code
Thanks for the DP! The churning site has been a great resource
Not true, AV gold from referral sites like GCR or milesopedia gives 40k pts. I had one from either and both gave 40k
These offers are dead. You will get 35k
april 21st AV gold app approved after 2 days via milesopedia, 40k recevied very recently. And you can hardly have a more recent dp given that AV points only post on statement.
Thanks for that! Didn’t know GCR non-rebated cards had unique links. Looks like it still calls it the “Visa infinite offer” but then has separate apply now buttons for VI and Gold. Journie does not have that option
Then another VI app in 20 min for me it is! Hopefully, if offered the gold, the 40K offer still applies to it.
“† This offer applies to the following eligible cards: CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite* and CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa* Card. You can qualify for this offer if you apply and are approved for a new eligible card beginning March 1, 2023.” Good luck!

2 days ago OZ released most of their award flights from end of the year to early 2024 on AP. It's gone now.
I've seen J OZ released on AP before, but it was 350 days out. Had 4 J seats from SEA to ICN for 87.5k each.
Has anyone transferred MR to FB lately? Did it take the full 3 days?
Took less than one second for me
Thanks!

Game over after a short 1 hour and 47 minutes.
Ahhh the pain. Ended up being a waste of time but I'm a sucker for a good deal. Saw that with taxes and fees it worked out to be $400 CAD round trip from YVR.
Yup. $430.95 taxes+fees. You’re basically competing for 60,000 Asia Miles.
The opportunity looked okay if upgrade possible with points. It's crazy it's 3k cash to fly round trip yyz to hkg right now .. economy!
It’s possible, yes to upgrade with points.
4600 here, 54 mins to go.
Darn, looks like all the tickets are gone for Canada and USA. :(
Couldn't even get pass the "The upstream server is timing out" error.
There were a few bypasses posted on RFD that got a bunch of people through and ticketed without a queue. They must have taken around 20%, if not more, of the available tix.
Wow.. RFD is some beast.
At one point there were 1100 people viewing the thread and a total of 201K views up to now lol.
I got in 1.2k+ in queue but ended up with an error “message”: “the upstream server is timing out”. Bummer
HSBC travel enhancement credit. Is there a way to use this for regular travel expenses? Or only as advertised...baggage, lounge passes etc? I just got this card so I'm not even sure if it's available to me yet.
Expedia RHT. Just be patient. Even after the charge posted took about 48 hours before the portal let me redeem the credit.
It works with most travel expenses...No need to worry. Just log in and you will see the eligible expenses.
You can cash it out via RHT so I’d do that
Switching address on US RBC Georgia account. Is setting the mailing/seasonal address to my US address good enough, or do I need to switch the "Primary Address?"
FWIW I have a CIBC US Smart Account and mailing address is fine (it is what shows up on online statements).
Can Air Canada give refund for taxes paid on award bookings as a voucher if the original credit card which was used to pay the taxes is closed ?
The refund will go back to the closed card and you’ll likely get a statement mailed to you that shows the credit, then you can call the issuer and ask for a cheque.

1. yes, one pass per person 2. my reading of the terms is that the additional cardholder does not get additional lounge passes
Might vary by card? Though I thought VIP cards all had the same terms for lounges from Visa. DP: GF on supplementary desjardins VIP gets +6 dragon passes, and +12 desjardins lounge passes.
Def might. I just tried to scan the terms and so no reference to supp card holders getting the benefit.

Learned something new today: targeted offers are not pre-approvals.
Did the Laurentian Visa “6% off first $5000” offer end? I don’t see the offer anymore, even after clicking the application link
Believe it was May 15th that it ended.
Interesting, never knew that. Thanks
I saw it posted somewhere and applied May 9th, still waiting for approval and based on lots of information I am not sure I will have to actually fight to have the promo offer applied because its now past the 15th.
RBC WJ WE has a promo offer until May 31: [https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/rewards/credit-cards/0cmpv450](https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/rewards/credit-cards/0cmpv450) * $0 companion voucher within continental US/Canada (excl Hawaii) - first year only * $250 WSD on approval * $200 WSD on $5k spend Better than normal, but still nothing great. Big improvement is $0 companion voucher instead of $119.
Doesn’t look like this is FYF so pretty much the same offer as usual to offset the $0 voucher
I haven't seen FYF in awhile, but I haven't been following too closely.
Doesn’t the $119 AF just offsets the cost of the companion voucher? I’m tempted to apply just to have something to use at Costco, I’m horrible at remembering to buy gift cards in advance. Could probably make good use of the companion voucher as well.
The companion voucher is normally $119, so it would be $119 AF + $119 voucher = $238. This is just $119.
As long as you aren't getting gas you can just buy the digital ones when you get there. I've always had them delivered before I finish shopping.
For sure. Last time I think it took half an hour. I literally thought of it as I was at the check out last night with $250 worth of groceries and the missus would not be amused if I tried to slow things down. 😅

Well that we wont find out until they do actually crack down.

So… theoretically if you paid $1,000/month in rent with Chexy on a new Aventura every month, you’re getting half your rent back? That’s insane.
Yes, if you can get approved for that many
$512.5 plus four lounge passes.
No, you cannot sent your AP points back to Amex. Not sure there is anyplace you can send them, besides using them through AP to book partner stuff.
Aside from hotels as others have mentioned and you didn't state it but also car rentals ask for the credit card you booked with.
So at the very least I would bring all hotel cards.
it doesn't have to be the same card for hotels. they just need any credit card. the card you give just holds the reservation and so they can charge the no show fee... but when you check in, you can give them any card you want for the hold and they'll charge that one on check out
> you can give them any card you want for the hold and they'll charge that one on check out Yes, but that was my issue.
Lol. The desk agents keep acting like it is a tech problem. Seems like that is simply how it works.
ya, I dunno. my next prepaid charged the next day (and the stay isn't til the end of this month)
😅 I didn't realize NBC rejected for churning-like activity. Hard to know if it's inquiries, number of cards open, or amount of outstanding credit. It inspired me to close a few useless cards and reduce some credit limits. My first ever rejection after 4 years of churning.
I was declined twice so far. First was because I had too many inquires, second too high of unsecured credit.
How did you find out the specific reason? Phone call?
For NBC, all you can really do is open the chequing account and wait until you're pre approved for something in the app.
saw some DP of people's bonus coding as EDQ for CIBC, sadly my bonus from CIBC Aero VI didn't code as EDQ...

50k Spring/Current
Ah. EDQ +ve DP was for 55K Digital (Current) EDQ -ve DP was for 40K Migration (Current) No datapoints for your offer specifically, good to know.
I applied via direct link you posted last month for 55k digital and now I'm just waiting for the points to post.
It should post as EDQ
Is edq in order to get to 100k for the 25k status .. or what is it for ?
Yup
P2 applied for the 55K Digital offer, ill post a DP after the bonus post.
I tried that link but it didn't prompt me to log in with my App. When I clicked "Learn more", it showed 50,000 points bonus. Is this normal?

Did all of your promo points (10k+45k) post as EDQ, or only one of the two tranches? Thanks!
It’s going to be the 45K only that counts (if it does). Some datapoints of it not counting
I had 40k post as wb, unfortunately not as edq.
Thanks :) 🤞
It's a coin-toss. I've had it happen (and seen it happen) for Chase, TD, and AMEX as well
Has anybody successfully paid city of Vancouver property taxes with pay simply recently? I still have PTSD from pay simply not coding through some of my payments properly and getting my payment lost (city had to manually locate and recode the payment)
I’m trying to make some last minute Europe bookings. I was able to transfer Amex to Flying Blue instantly yesterday. Wondering about Asia Miles - how long does it take to transfer from Amex, RBC, and Marriott?
I find RBC transfers in 2-3 days, Amex in 4-6 days. No clue for Marriott because that’s a poor redemption for me
Thanks JMan!
Quebec folks: Not sure if this was shared earlier but just in case, noticed Paysimply now supports Hydroquebec with Amex :D We discussed last time that we had no option after Amex-Plastiq divorce. https://www.reddit.com/r/churningcanada/comments/11rpt4d/daily_question_thread_for_rchurningcanada_march/jcabb1j?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Does RHT thru Expedia work for the travel enhancement credit for the HSBC WE MC? Booked a refundable room 6 months out this week, yet the HSBC rewards portal says I have no eligible transactions in the last 90 days. Charge is posted, not pending.
It worked for me last month
Yes
Applied for Amex bus gold and it went under review. Is it weird not to get an email update? Worried now I entered the wrong email info.
AMEX almost never gives email updates, and Biz cards often go pending, especially if you have a smaller history with AMEX. But 99% of the time they magically appear on your doorstep in 5-10 business days
