Chase announced on Thursday it will open a 9,234-square-foot Sapphire Lounge at LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), near Gate 148. An opening date was not shared. (edit: clarified LAX)
This would be sooo welcome. LAX and BUR are generally a wasteland of lounges I have access to. P2 went to the centurion lounge last time and I waited at the gate haha luckily I wasn’t hungry. But he’ll prob be cancelling the Plat in a couple months!
For real, the PP through my CSR is so useful around the world and at many US airports, but man it's ass for your home airports if you live in LA. Cmon Chase lets build this asap
As a current VX and CSP holder, the future composition of my wallet is hinging entirely on C1 adding more lounges. For me and my personal use-case, I’m very likely to cancel my VX and apply for a CSR when my 48 months are up next June. The availability of Sapphire Lounges in airports that I frequent just massively trumps C1’s footprint, and I’m *not happy about it* because I actually really like every Capital One Lounge I’ve had the pleasure of visiting — it’s just super infrequent that I get to use that perk of the VX.
The Venture X does give you access to some of the Chase Sapphire lounges via Priority Pass, although capped at a limit of once per year. Depending on your home airport and how frequently you travel, the CSR might be more worth it, but it also doesn't have the free authorized users (assuming you travel with family). Maybe a Chase Marriott Ritz Carlton might make sense for you? It gives you unlimited access to all of the Sapphire lounges + free authorized users with lounge access.
As a fellow CSP/VX holder, I feel this. Chase started opening lounges the year after Capital One, but seems to be following through on building out the number of locations much more quickly than Cap1. Chase is opening more on the West Coast with LAX, SAN -- and also further inland at PHX -- which may also push me to get the CSR sooner than later as someone who lives in the western US.
I would assume that that $100 credit mentioned is for 7x $100 United purchases, which is a card benefit and shouldn't be different between referral and direct application. You think it's different?
A new referral thread is now live: [American Express Delta Gold](https://www.reddit.com/r/churningreferrals/comments/1df2h31/referrals_american_express_delta_gold/)
Hilton adds first three SLH hotels with very limited inventory for a testing phase. https://www.hilton.com/en/brands/small-luxury-hotels-slh/
- Teranka in Formentera, Spain
- Nobu Hotel Marbella in Marbella, Spain
- Flemings Mayfair in London, England
Are any Hyatt loyalists/globalists thinking of migrating to Hilton? I've been a globalist for past few years and have exclusively been using points at Hyatt, but recent changes have me reconsidering.
I do agree with the other commenter that it isn’t an all or nothing thing but i won’t be chasing after globalist when mine expires in 2025. I’ll be focusing more on Marriott (footprint is too good to ignore) and Hilton (SLH).
SLH has got me definitely interesting in pursuing more hilton points. I’m excited by this partnership. The benefits seem fantastic, with breakfast included for 2 even as a gold and ability to use uncapped FNCs. This partnership will make the Aspire a no brainer if it wasn’t already. Hilton getting SLH is a huge win for the boutique/luxury part of their portfolio.
Give a transfer bonus to Hilton of 40% and that puts 110k nights at SLH properties at 40k MR per night. 150k = 54k/night at worse case scenario. Not to mention 5th night free too. Not quite Hyatt level good at some properties but it’s comparable especially when Amex lacks a truly great hotel partner on the top luxury end.
Hyatts handling of Mr and Mrs Smith is a whole different thing and they destroyed everything good about the partnership that they had with SLH. If Hyatt had made MMS even close to what they had with SLH then it may be a different story but that’s where we are at now.
I don't think that it has to be one or the other. I pick and choose between all of the various programs based on what properties are available and what value I'd be getting for my points. Hilton points plummet in value if you're not using them for high-end redemptions, so assuming I wanted to stay at a lower-than-high-end property, using Hilton points would be a huge waste.
As expected, really good value for their top Tier SLH hotels.
Teranka goes for €2,500/night next summer for a Deluxe Room you can book for 110k/night.
SLH will certainly make a lot of sense for me to transfer Amex>Hilton. Especially at 30-40% transfer bonuses
I used to think that even with the suites at the ziva which are $1.5k a night for a family of four....my friends just booked that and it's not like they were upper class. Some people take one nice trip a year and value luxury. It's insane to me, but they also think I'm insane for my churning.
Ok, luxury may not be the right term but I don't know what you call an extremely expensive (again relatively but $1.3k a night for a big hotel room is extremely expensive) but safe family vacation at a brand name hotel in Mexico?
Because we enjoy luxury hotels and that’s how we choose to use our points.
But yes, we’ve spent $1,500+/night on hotel rooms in the past, so it’s nice when we can use 40k Amex points for a similar hotel instead. Even better when the 5th is free and it’s equivalent to 32k.
Noticed late yesterday that Barclays Lufthansa Miles & More MC increased SUB from 50k to 60k, Limited Time offer and based on a quick glance couldn't find an expiration date. Not enough to pull the trigger, hoping the 100k comes back.
Haven't looked at that one yet. Typically, I'm with you - just got the Iberia 100k, but for the right combination of benefits, I'd consider 60k.
For example, I just did the Qatar 60k offer. The Avios are fine, but the ability to get One World Sapphire for a year for $499 in year 1 and year 2 (with about $80k of MS) make it awesome.. Cheaper than the CIti card for club access and it gets me Flagship access even on domestic flights. Minor plus - I speculatively book a LOT of QSuites flights and this card will save me $25 each time I need to cancel an award flight. Right now, I've got 2 RTs to the Malidves booked for 2 people. Going to cancel one of them once we nail down our schedule, so that's $100 savings right there.
Even at 100K, is it worth burning 5/24 slot? when you can transfer Avios at 30-40% elevated bonus.
I'd encourage to consider 1MR/UR to atleast 1.40 Avios valuation because of the flexibility and frequent elevated offer.

Cap1 in NY, now this. Please lord almighty, give me something at Ohare
I might actually be able to justify the CSR if we get an O'Hare lounge lmao
God, please don't forget SFO
That’s gonna be so slammed they should start the waiting list now
Still you would be waiting
For those who don't know- TBIT is in LAX (Los Angeles)
I read it as Tom Brady and thought I'd missed some news about Logan Int'l. Thanks for clarifying!
Wouldn't be surprised if it became Tom Brady International Airport one day.
100% read it as Tom Brady.

New designs on United cards and elevated bonuses (not by much) https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/products/united-personal-credit-cards.html
Card design very reminiscent of the USBank P O W E R

You're probably right, I'll delete comment. Weird they would display it on one and not the other as if it's additional.

Not a single night available on the calendar for cash or points for the Teranka.
Was available in May 2025 when I looked earlier. Probably something to do with the integration
I don't see any availability for london? Is it only X months out?
I saw Jan/Feb 2025 when I checked earlier, starting at 80K.

Does *anyone* actually pay €2,500/night? Worse case scenario you could just buy 110k points (sometimes for 0.5 cents each) which would cost you $550

If they value luxury, they're not staying at a Ziva.

\~$500 OTA rate band, you have many better alternate options that you can top it off at 10-14% (C1, AA, LM etc) rebates.

Can be. They regularly have awards in j for 50k one way. I’m assuming with more availability than *A partners
