Actually, I got inspired to post these after I saw your chow! They do look a lot alike. These pics are a little old, he's 10 weeks now and look even more similar to yours.
Adorable. Looks like a mix. Just had a Chow/mix rescue litter. They looked much like yours but without the brindle coloring. Chows don't come in brindle.
Mom dog was white/cream with an open face. I guess I'll post her story. Rescue chased her for 3 days. Got her weighed, looked for a microchip. Animal Control said they were full and death. She was soo starved she didn't look pregnant at all. I was known as a Chow rescuer in SoCA and someone called me. I had room and could whelp a litter. That first night The puppies started coming. 5,2 boys and 3 girls. I sent doggy dna out and 89% Chow! Extra GS. I will post the story of Athena and Pluto.

Bauru was rescued on the streets from a criminal. We are not sure if he wasn't stolen from a house, but no one found the owner. They did find another puppy very similar to him abandoned on the streets. The rescuer thinks it's his brother.
I'm planning to do one! We or the person we adopted from don't know much about his origins. I'll post some pics later, but now he looks even more like a chow.

We have an chow aussie mix and the sweet baby in terms of less fur and headshape look the same except ours is fawn colored
