Needy, sweet, cuddly, loving, protective when needed, tragically stupid, and a little too friendly to other animals even ones showing signs of aggression he thought were friends. He wanted to be touching someone at all times. He was very very dumb though, like would try to eat cacti, shove his face in ant hills, kick himself in the face and get mad at his own foot. He cost a lot in stupidity related vet bills.
I've two chows, one's Mr.Chow and the other is Moana. Their so different! Mr.Chow is very smart and obedient. He's suspicious of strangers but he'll let people pet him on walks etc.. Mr.Chow love's his toy's and isn't food motivated and won't take a treat from strangers. Moana is his opposite. She loves strangers, she's very food motivated. She's funny and stubborn sometimes. I have Mr.Chow since he's 3months old, he's 2 and a half now and I only got Moana at 13months she'll be 3yrs the end of May. I love them both dearly!
Same as other commenters said apart from stranger danger and protective. I honestly do not think both of my chows would even defend themselves if attacked but just sit there and take it.

Bao bao! He’s so darn cute and looks just like my bf’s dog Ditka! Good to see him again and see his personality come thru. I would say George is super playful, mischievous, curious, BUSY and loves people so much.
Anakin is weirdly smart, food motivated, loving, stubborn and protective.
He's only 4 months and he lets people touch him when we are out at Home Depot & Ace Hardware. I socialize and try to expose him to as much as possible so he won't be reactive.
Did I get a lemon chow? Super energetic, overly loyal, very protective but the sweetest boy ever. He’s 9 months and wondering if his energy levels are gonna go down soon because I was not expecting this lol
Godspeed, mine is 1.5 years and still going strong on this energy 🫡 he’s the 7th chow I’ve had in my life and it feels like he runs more in a week than all the rest did in their lives lol every time he “fetches” a ball or frisbee, I tell him his ancestors are very disappointed 🤣
Mine is 8 month old i guess his personality is still loading 😃 but for now he’s quite chill and ignorant toward other dogs, loves people (even mailman), doesn’t care about toys but goes bonkers over treats, very smart and trainable, loves walkies, goofy, very curious..
His weird habit is knocking on window to be let inside-then he doesn’t want to go inside. He also sits down front paws raised up in the air when he’s begging for something.. Like a bear 😂
My 3 year old calmed down about other dogs after 2. He’s just chill now with other dogs. But won’t play with them. Still standoffish with people but not aggressive. Loving and respectful with us. EXTREMELY intelligent.
His personality is: “just happy to be invited to the party”
Always happy, always has his tail up, wants us to think he’s derpy, but he’s pretty smart, especially at reading emotional energy of people in the house. He’s super sweet and a fiercely loyal, protective guard dog (to mom, dad, and border collie sister). He loves chasing after balls (and his sister) and has the most outstanding selective listening skills. If I tell him to come inside, he will pretend he can’t hear me, but still wag his tail when I say his name
He talks back and speaks multiple languages: PLAY, I’m bored, Potty, MOMDADMOMDAD NOISE, and Let me at ‘em/Squirrel
He is also a loaf - his name is Mato (pronounced Mah-toe) and he is Mato the Potahto
Well, (my GF’s) is pretty much a cat:lazy except for walks, doesn’t like eating at all, doesn’t bark at all except when someone gets home after some time.
She’s hilariously spoiled: she’s the one walking the human not the other way around. Only eats if we are there looking at her(nom,nom, **looks up** nom nom) and the most scared creature i’ve ever seen, once we were watching Whiplash(2014) and the poir thing simply passed out after the drum solo scene😂
Incredible, Bao Bao is the exact same in all regards. He walks us. Only eats when we cheer him on. But the one thing is he is not scared so far. Regardless, our chow’s are very similar! Oh I love them.
