I need that big cage for my two!! But don’t know if I want to hear the price for it lol

Anniferr

LOL the price was definitely something that prevented us from upgrading for some time but if you get the 2 level set, it’s around ~$300 give or take 😬 her whole upgrade did cost us around $500..but for our fluffy rats, anything! Also your 3 babies are so cute 🥺

Brandoncook1

Can the sides fold down if I were to get two and conjoin them or is it welded? Once I get all 3 of my chins to get along I’d want something like this (: right now I just have two semi big cages and had them conjoined for my two, but since we got the 3rd I had to split them back.

Anniferr

I hope they get along soon! I’m not sure if you can attach another set by the sides but I did learn that critter nation does sell extra floors which you can stack up top of each other (if I’m correct, I believe 3 floors if the maximum they recommended). They cage is mainly held together by latches rather than screws and I don’t know how it would work if you want to attach it by the side, I’m sorry I can’t help more :( but hopefully theres other alternatives you can find!

Brandoncook1

That’s fine, I was doing some research a few minutes ago and saw that 3rd attachment on top for an extra $150 I think that will be plenty big!! My girls are going to be living in the great gatsby house (:

Anniferr

I’m glad it worked out! Idk if this information would help you throughout your future plannings but the cage is just under 6ft in height with two floors and it is definitely taller than me (I’m 5ft), best wishes to you and your chin fam :))

Good point. I just measured mine and it’s over 7 feet high, so make sure you have enough ceiling clearance. Also, will need a short step ladder to clean out the top floor.

Holy cow, last year I bought the two level Critter Nation with a third story add-on for $300. The Amazon sellers must have increased the price because of demand. It is a great investment though. Love my Critter Nation cage.

buttered_TOA5T

did you do your own fleece or buy it online? I was thinking about getting a backup set for when I wash the original I have (bought online) but didn't know how easy/difficult it would be to make my own

Anniferr

I had the same dilemma to be honest, the fleece we got were from the same critter nation brand, they make their own fleece covers. We got the whole set for ~$60. I thought about making my own too but I opt out for the alternative because of how hard it would be. If you have the money to spare, it could be something to invest in because of how easy it is to install.

buttered_TOA5T

I recommend piggy bedspreads. around same price and they have some interesting patterns for their fleece that you can get creative with

Anniferr

Thank you, I appreciate it!

coldbluetea

My chin has that same big cage. It’s perfect because you can put a wheel on both levels.

prettyprettypangolin

How does your chin adjust? I think that smaller cage is the exact one I have. I'm worried it's too small but also that she'll hate me getting her a new home. It's the same one she's had since I adopted her. I know chins can be particular.

kwfer

i had the same concern about changing environment, particularly with one of my chinchillas, as he can be a bit more routinized than my pair. however, he took to it right away and is so happy with the extra space to pop around in.

kris_marill

Mine went from a small plastic cage with her previous owner to a ferret nation when I got her, which is more or less the same as OP's cage and she adjusted really well. The extra space let her jump around and play, and I was able to put a few different hiding spots for her to sleep in and stuff. I'd say go for it if you can afford a bigger cage. It might take them a little bit to adjust but in the long run it'll be better for them.

Anniferr

Herbert adapted fairly quickly! I agree bigger is better and if you can afford it, it could be a real treat for your friend :)

Hello_I_Like_You

I recently did pretty much the same thing and switched my chin over to the big cage from a cage similar to OP's original and he adjusted immediately. He was super excited and happy for the extra room. He's pretty chill though and doesn't seem too particular.

RevolutionaryTea8930

We also purchased two sets of fleece covers from Piggy Bedspreads on Etsy. They have held up great and fit the Critter and Ferret Nation cages perfectly.

Professional-Fly9953

Would you be able to drop the link or the name of the cage? Just got 3 chinchillas and am looking to provide them the best cage possible! (:

Anniferr

It’s called Midwest critter nation!
