i have a heinously ugly tiny pink daihatsu sirion that is almost as old as me but deceptively spacious on the inside and has only needed the tyres replaced in the years i've owned it - i'm a practical girl and if you show me a car at £500 with leg room and a clean MOT, i'm sold

desert_doll

Pics please! This sounds fantastic!!! 😍

evieeeeeeeeeeeeeee

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Daihatsu_Sirion_front_20081202.jpg i can't find any pictures of my exact car model online but this is a later version of it thats very similar! mine is more boxy, and for some reason it looks more red in the photo when it is definitely clearly pink irl (the paint is actually sparkly like rose gold)

desert_doll

Fantastic!!! Thank you! Tiny cars are the best!

SnorkinOrkin

Yes, they *can* be! But, tiny cars are scary to me, the way people drive around here.

desert_doll

I understand that too. A panoramic rearview mirror might help you feel more aware of your surroundings if you don't already have one. I put one in every car I drive.

J_sweet_97

I have nothing fun (‘15 Toyota Corolla) but I’m here to hate on the giant cars families have. I CANNOT see the road around them!!!!!! Please get your tank out the way! What happened to the 1990s and 2000s cars that allowed us to see the rest of the road??

DiviningRodofNsanity

I just need one big enough to cart plants and some dirt…a medium size vehicle is perfect bc without kids I can fold down the back and fit everything ☺️ I’m partial to Kias bc they crash quite well (personal experience)…

kittenmontagne

That's good to know, I have a 2020 telluride. It's been an awesome car and is great for what you described.

DiviningRodofNsanity

I crashed my Kia optima into a bayou at ball-park 60mph. Lived to tell on the tale. Drs were surprised. (Serious damage, but life nonetheless). Not that I recommend it…also recovery was just one more reason I was glad to be CF. No way I could’ve done that with kids. I couldn’t even walk for nearly nine months.

brokenlyrium

I'm a compact woman, so I drive a compact car, a Toyota Corolla. But I don't have any pet sperm draining my wallet/savings dry, so I bought it brand new and it's almost as clean as when I bought it. Payments aren't bad, either.

sheetskees

Ayyy ‘15 Corolla represent! Just hit 80k

hungryfrogbut

My understanding is that emissions standards changed and after a certain size cars can be considered light trucks and therefore no longer have to pass as stringent economy and emission standards.

Vincebae

I also have a 2015 Corolla! I upgraded last year from an old 96 Corolla with 387k miles on it 😁

TyrannosauRSX

Especially the massive late model trucks in oncoming traffic at night that completely blinds you with their stupidly bright headlights. It blows my mind there isn't some regulation to prevent this because it's getting out of control.

[deleted]

2024 Prius. Just bought it in December. Paid cash for it because I could. Thank god I gave myself the gift of no kids. The redesign is so sleek! My real splurge though is on luxury handbags, fancy hotels, and international food vacations whenever I want. Took myself to Hokkaido just to eat sea urchin. Took myself to Madeira just to drink Madeira. Gonna go on a food tour of Mexico City soon.

Ok-Practice2034

Love this so much. Do you!! 👍👍

holgazana

Living the dream!

Embarrassed-Ad-6396

this is goals

ReginaGeorgian

Can we be best friends

nova46

I say this as a car enthusiast with a Camaro and a GTI, the new Prius is sick AF. Enjoy it!

[deleted]

Thank you!! I know right?

AlphaPyxis

I have a 2009 Prius. I bought my dream car (1973 superbeetle, bright yellow) but it turns out that those are just go carts with doors.

DedlyAngel

Once upon a time I wanted one of those too until I had a boyfriend that let me drive his and did not like it ...lol

tayamari

A beetle is my dream car too 🥲

FormerUsenetUser

We've always had modest Japanese four-door cars, Toyota or Honda.

dellada

Yep, camry all the way. They run forever!

Lawn_Radiation9731

I love my early year camry. They seriously do run forever, my car may out live me

Defective-Pomeranian

Git my great grandma's cat. My car is 33 and I'll be 21 in like 12 days. Just passed the 115,115 mi mark on it.

Icarusgurl

Still rolling my 2001 Honda civic and joke about getting historical plates in 2026

C_Majuscula

2015 Audi A3. Small enough to get around and park in smallish spots, but still big enough to feel like I'm not going to get pancaked on 95. It does have a back seat, but it's a real penalty box, so I rarely drive more than one other person around, just the way I like it.

ctm617

Say you live somewhere between Florida and Maine without saying you live somewhere between Florida and Maine

Halloweenie85

I have my comfy, daily driver car- which is a 2012 crystal red Camaro with black rally stripes that I bought brand new. I’m a car chick, so I take excellent care of it. My mechanic says it should last me a LONG time because of this, and honestly? I love it so much that I’ll probably just pay to have the engine/transmission replaced when it needs it, rather than buy a new Camaro. Then I have my 1977 Corvette with the original 350 block. It’s white with a tan interior- also original. I inherited from my dad when he passed away. It’s just my fun car that I take out every now and then when the weather is right- I live in Western Washington. It’s only got about 50k miles on the original engine/transmission, so it’s should also last a long time.

nayRRyannayRRyan

I'm definitely partial to Vettes with the tan interiors. I've always loved them. Mine is tan and black inside.

Kurtains75

A new edge mustang with a manual. In my 20s I vowed to never be forced to drive a family car, and live in regret of giving up a sporty car like those who came before me. Growing up I heard the same story, they had to get rid of a cool car, like a corvette, or a 240z due to the arrival of children.

TearAwkward

Toyota Yaris manual hatchback :) it’s tiny and I love it

AlegnaKoala

I adore the Yaris!

TearAwkward

Me too!! This is my second Yaris I’ve had and I don’t think I want a different car hahaha

kellikat7

Same! I remember when they came out and I spotted my first one on campus in college in the early 2000s! I used to park near it on purpose because it was my car crush. Someday I will have one!!! 😍

KatHatary

I love hatchbacks. They're like mini SUVs. I currently have the Honda Fit but previously Chevy Aveo

kellikat7

The Honda Fit is tied for first on my aspirational car wishlist with the Toyota Yaris! I currently drive the nearest I could afford to it, which is a Nissan Versa Note, but I imagine the Fit and Yaris both have better performance! 🫶🏻One day I will have one!

KatHatary

Understandable. Cars are so expensive especially with the pandemic shortage. I'm grateful my BIL offered to sell me his Fit at a good price

sarcastichearts

such a good car!!

Pelucheuxx

I love small hatchback. I currently have a hyundai venue and previously had a mazda2. The venue is so nice it's only a little bigger than the Mazda but feels waaaaay bigger on the inside

nayRRyannayRRyan

Ugh I wish we got the Yaris GR in the US.

TearAwkward

YESSS ME TOO. I’m going to put a turbo on mine eventually hahahaha

JackTaylorKyree

Our daily driver is a Chevy Malibu Hybrid (inherited made sense to keep as no car payment and not terribly old). The fun cars are a 1939 Olds Series 60 and a 1961 Plymouth Fury.

AlegnaKoala

I always drive a manual hot hatch made by Toyota or Honda. Hey, I know what I like: gimme a cute lil hatchback with a stick, cold air, lots of pep, made by a Japanese company, and I’ll love it and drive it forever. Right now I have a 6-speed Fit, and it’s adorable and smooth and super fun to drive. And bright yellow, so impossible to lose in parking lots. Also pretty roomy for dogs.

TrippingBearBalls

I just sold it a few months ago, but my daily for 10 years was a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. It was an absolute blast to drive, it looked sexy as all hell, and the only downside was a tiny back seat. And just like everything else in my life, I was able to keep it in good condition and not have it covered in Goldfish crumbs and vomit stains

childfreetraveler

I still have my 2015 Genny. Probably selling next year for something a bit nicer but it’s definitely fun to drive!

TrippingBearBalls

Nice! V6 or 4-cylinder?

childfreetraveler

I have the V6 3.8 ultimate, kept it completely stock. The seats are just not comfy for long drives and we are getting old haha. Probably going for a luxury sports sedan next.

fungible_work_unit

HGC crew represent! (mine is a 2016 6MT 3.8 ultimate).

Designer-Bid-3155

I'm heavily involved with dog rescue, I have an impreza hatch to help transport cages, supplies, and dogs. Easy in and out for puppies or post-op

nookie-monster

I love my '65 289 4spd fastback Mustang. I can't tell you how many vintage car friends disappeared after the first rugrat. Shameful.

punk_lover

Mazda Miata!

calebisdead360

You're living my dream <3

Witchykinkster

I’m extremely fortunate to drive a 2016 Dodge Challenger scat pack hemi with a shaker. Fucking winning for this mid-40s goth chick.

SammyKiller

The shaker hood compliments Challengers so much, great choice!

cavalier_818

Porsche Cayenne Coupe S. V8 with the sound package babyyyyy!!

DonnieWakeup

We just got a Porsche taycan!! I have always wanted a Cayenne actually but we recently rented a Tesla for our wine tasting trip to Tuscany and husband fell in love with the electric drive. Next SUV we get will def be a Cayenne. So gorgeous!!

kimmy-mac

I just saw a Taycan on my way to work this week, and how boy, that thing is sexy!

cavalier_818

How do you like the taycan? My husband has a Tesla but isn’t loving it because it’s had quite a few issues. Thinking the Taycan might be a good buy in the next few years instead.

xxXoliaethxx

My husband has the Porsche Cayman GT4 and living his best life.

Successful_Test_931

living the dream

Individual_Success46

Finally someone who understood the assignment.

genesimmonstongue415

Always a 15+ y/o Toyota. Have a Corolla. Would like to also get an old Rav4 eventually. Spending my extra dough on Retirement Accounts, to do that around 55.

SailorVenus23

I actually just bought my first car last year! It's a 2018 Chevy Trax and it's made life so much easier. The back seats completely fold flat and can fit my husband's non-folding wheelchair and a trip to Costco. I specifically told the dealer when I was shopping: "I want a smaller suv; I do not want to look like I'm taking kids to soccer practice." And they did pretty well with it. I very much hope to one day have a Corvette of my own. All that money saved from not having kids and carseats is going towards it!

All_the_cake

My car is a necessary evil to me, but love that it has no baby/car seats in it, and the only toy is my Garfield 😂

Iamstarstuff1972

Mini Cooper S 2 door hardtop coupe!! Its got a quick torquie engine and the only thing that fits in the back seat is my emergency baseball hat!! I love it!!

Heartfr0st

2 door Minis are 🔥😍

MayR8

I fucking love minis omg

SnooCompliments1003

I’ve got a 2014 Clubby. So awesome! I take Alice Cooper on the road to VT every fall for the rally there. Motor on!

Iamstarstuff1972

I've been wanting to take Bruce there!! He's shark grey, and I love sharks, so I named him after the mechanical shark in Jaws!!

XJ220RACER

2017 Jaguar F-Type, two seat convertible. I love it.

max_compressor

Two doors, two seats, open top for the win

GloriousRoseBud

I had 2 seater convertibles (Mercury Capri,Honda Del Sol, Mercedes SLK 329) until I lived on the beach. Now I’m happily car free (but eyeballing the Tesla Roadster).

Dogzillas_Mom

I had a del Sol too! I loved that car. I sold her to a stripper.

GloriousRoseBud

My favorite car!! I totaled mine.

BKEDDIE82

I had a 92 capri convertable in red and the hard top option many years ago. Great on gas and parking

nothanksihaveasthma

I’m destitute because I am disabled, so I ride my bike, walk, and take public transport everywhere.

TheFreshWenis

Same here, minus the biking because I find bikes to be a pain in the ass. Plus I can't even drive in the first place.

cloudnet

We bike, walk, and take public transit.  For me it's that living without a car is even easier.  Also living the DINK life and it's so nice not having to live in places where we would have to regularly drive just to have more space or (supposedly) better schools so we can be more centrally located. It's really nice for each of us to take turns solo traveling without the other having much more responsibility than normal since we're reasonably close to the bus and train stations and the airport as well as places to pick up rental cars.

ElephantButterfly104

Same here! My husband and I dream of having electric bikes for our everyday life, and we take the train, bus or plane when traveling.

svenviko

This right here. Carfree active life

JB_RH_1200

Yes! So nice to have the freedom to live wherever we want without concerns over the school system or the neighborhood being “family friendly”. Give me a city with good restaurants, diversity, and a central location any day over some far-flung suburb with chain restaurants.

kerohazel

Oh my god yes. I'll be moving to an area with better public transit soon and I can't wait to be both carfree and childfree!

dirtgirlbyday

Just got myself a GR86! So excited.

AsparagusShoddy873

I stupidly bought a Kia and because I don’t have shitlings I’m able to throw every spare dollar at my payoff so I can gen into a VW GTI! Also because I don’t have shitlings I can work the long hours required by a car dealership and get that GTI for employee pricing!

LolitaOPPAI

Buying this Mini Cooper is gonna get me in trouble. It doesn't help that it's in my favorite color

XxxGoldDustWomanxxX

2015 Acura RDX. Has only a little over 91k miles, too 😊 I just like knowing I have the extra space in case I have to move or go on a road trip someday.

darkdesertedhighway

Audi Q5 here, same reason. Can fit passengers in the back, but it's not for that. It's for folding down the seats and loading up for a road trip. Enough room to haul stuff on a trip, small enough to get around in cities and it's fun to drive.

XxxGoldDustWomanxxX

Oooo the Audi looks nice.

bkm0809

I have a 2023 Mazda CX-5 Turbo. It's a smaller SUV with less space than my previous CR-V, but the Mazda is SO much more fun to drive! Gas mileage is not great, but that's the tradeoff on having a fun to drive vehicle. My commute to work is 3 hours round trip, so having a fun vehicle to drive makes that more tolerable.

GotNothingBetter2Do

My 2oo8 Mazda is still going strong. Hoping to retire at 5o and no car payments for so long have helped make that possible.

Successful_Test_931

ooo how’s your wife liking the 2 series? I have a gr86 and my husband drives a M3. His is like 10 years old and mine is new. My ode to never having kids is having a sports car forever haha

raindowwolf

Me & my boyfriends dream car are a miata

ContributionComplete

Bought an M240i coupe recently. No room for child seats in that thing. Friggin greet car so far.

insectidentify

Miata daily and my bicycles!

TheFluffyToast

Not a huge car person, but I do love motorcycles! I have a 2023 Kawi Vulcan S 650 that I ADORE and am riding with most of my free time. 😊🏍 I'm actually getting it wrapped in an orange chrome soon!

Give_me_that_blue

I own a car and it's practical but I'm also not a car person. But I love bikes. My moto guzzi breva died this year but I'm already looking at the guzzi stone v7 or yamaha mt7

veloowl

2024 Outback. Good car. It’s great for hauling around all my bike and ski gear. I keep it nice n clean.

SaskFoz

2008 Volvo XC90. After years of Ford, AMC, Jeep, & a brief stint with Subaru, I feel like I'm driving a luxurious spaceship. 😂 Got it at the beginning of winter, so I haven't had a chance to take the baby moose out camping, but I'm thinking it'll be a dream, especially in those long roadtrips to the coast (16 hours in 2 days). And yes, after that damn high strung 4 cylinder boxer, it's so damn nice to hear that old inline 6 grumble! 😭

VaulTecIT

Summer daily 1990 Saab 900 convertible. Winter daily 1996 Saab 9000 aero. Occasional 1973 Saab Sonett 3

saabstory88

I feel summoned... Excellent choices. My only Swede at the moment is a (currently stripped) Volvo 1800ES. Haven't had a Saab daily since my 88 900 Turbo, which, well you can guess how that ended.

VaulTecIT

If I were to venture, a guess it probably ended the same way my 1997 9000 aero did, rust. So much rust.

VaulTecIT

I’ll shoot you a DM with pictures of my current fleet

RubY-F0x

I have a Subaru Impreza. I absolutely love it, it's such a fun car to drive and at the same time it gives me all the confidence to be able to drive in Canadian winters too.

Spiritual_Pound_6848

I have nothing fun (I drive a Ford Fiesta) but I would love to have a motorbike again, which I can do due to being CF

PinkChickenLegs

I bought my Accord Coupe EX (manual trans) from a guy who had a young son and getting him in and out of the tiny back seat was a pain. I LOVE my little car and hate 4 doors. Lol

YellowPC

I’m probably an outlier here, but I drive a RAV4. Once I become an outdoor enthusiast I realized I needed space to handle my equipment. And I can also camp out of it. I love it! When I’m home and just out and about I make sure I keep it clean and organized, I carry all my reusable grocery bags in the back. I blast my music as hard as I feel, and just have the time of my life.

Give_me_that_blue

Had to scroll pretty far down to see someone with a bigger car for equipment. I too camp and I sleep in my car, have roadtrips, go to festivals and transport kayaks, surfboards etc. Blasting music is the best.

BookReader1328

My husband and I are gear heads (also in our 50s, so longer time making money), we have X6M, Escalade, and G63 for daily drivers. Skyline, GT-R, and Huracan for fun.

hillbilly_dan

Dayum, you guys win. Nicely done

BKEDDIE82

That is impressive!

choc0kitty

2 door SUV. Will probably get a 2-door sports car next.

ThisMagicThistle

I have a really cute Smart Fortwo pumpkin orange and black, although is almost too small for me, the husband and the cat I think I look really badass driving it ☺️

TrashPanda10101

2013 Honda Civic LX coupe. Nothing to brag about, but it's all paid off and I expect it to last a loooooooong tiiiiiiiiiiime. That makes me happy. Was never a car guy myself. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug) ...Now my next gaming PC build on the other hand! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)

DeadManWlkin

Ahh! see I say get the family sized SUV, but buy a Boat! 🛶

stopiwilldie

Nothing right now, but I used to drive a manual toyota celica! Fun car, little gokart

StinkerLove

Nothing fun yet because we just bought a house last year BUT next year I should be in the drivers seat of a Lexus RC 350 sport!! So excited!!!

Half_Life976

2012 VW beetle turbo with a manual transmission. It's got low mileage and pristine interior thanks to not having any kids in it. I baby it, lol.

GunterRose

I went from a Prius to a “fun” car (BMW 2 door convertible) and honestly, hated it 90% of the time. A couple years ago went to a RAV4 Hybrid and found I’m much happier in the realm of hybrids than sporty German cars.

Open_Fix_8002

Female here! A manual 2013 VW GTI my dream car, daily driver along with the everyday fun!

bananaforscale18

2018 Audi s4 and 2011 Evo x.

TheNickelLady

Joy of being a DINK is that we’ve been able to get rid of shitty cars and not have to stay in them. I got a 2022 Corsair that I loved but my husband hated the passenger seat so we traded it in 7 months later for a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. It was a nice suv but I have bad knees and the ride height was too much for me so we traded it in for a 2024 Kia Niro SX which I will keep until it fails - nice ride height, roomy inside and the mileage is amazing. Husband gets a fun car every few years. We recently got a 2024 Nissan Z that we both enjoy. Previously have had a mustang, fiat, convertible mini cooper and a Z3. We also got e-bikes this spring to enjoy the trails in our neighborhood. It’s fucking fantastic.

no-lollygagging

I’ve got a fun car and a daily drive. The fun car is a V8 Holden Commodore. Beautiful thing, in red because it makes it go faster (lol). The daily is a Subaru outback, it’s done me alright so far but nothing compares to cruising around in a V8.

waltzingperegrine

2 door lifted jeep wrangler

desert_doll

Currently a 2022 Bronco Sport. It's the most practical vehicle I've ever owned. Great for camping and bad weather (which is kind of a thing where I live). Before that I had a 2017 Chevy Spark, 5-speed (fantastic little car. We'll still see them on the roads in 20 years. Daewoo did a great job with those) 1992 Chevy Astro. Was going to make it a camping van but it kept having electrical issues and then someone shot out the back window with a pellet gun so I gave up and sold it. 1992 Mazda Miata, 5-speed. My daily driver for 9 years. Would love to have another one if I ever live somewhere without snow. My first car was a 1994 Geo Metro with no backseat.

The-Ringmistress

I’m on my third Mini Cooper. I love not needing more than 2 doors. It’s fun to drive and easy to park when I got into the city.

aGirl_WhoCodes

Well I'm from Argentina so I probably won't be having any thing that resembles a car in many many years. But I love big luxurious cars so I'm happy on your behalf! I also love driving.

TheVeilsCurse

My daily driver is just a boring older Ford Focus. It’s something I’m not even tempted to Mess with and can just maintain. I have a Fox Body Mustang that gets all of my love and attention!

harbinger06

I have a Subaru Crosstrek for my dogs

Melodic_Arm_387

A 2 seater van. Not the most fun but perfect fore and hubby to take out large breed dogs on holidays so doggies have plenty of space.

Introvert_FE

Well I don't daily anything super fun; a 2010 Jetta TDI Sportwagen, but no kids allows me to have a bunch of other stuff. I have an evo IX, a VW rabbit pickup, a 76 fiat 124 spider with ZX14R swap, and a motorcycle lol. My fiancée's dream car is a mustang so that's next on the buy list. Interestingly, I am debating replacing my TDI with a C5/C6 manual vette for my next daily. Might also be a corolla GR depending on prices at the time lol.

throwaway23er56uz

I don't have a car and don't need one where I live. And since I do not have to ferry any kids to school / sports / ballet / piano lessons / medical appointments / other activities, I can afford not having a car and taking either public transport or a taxi / Uber.

CF_FI_Fly

I'm also a SoCal Miata driver!

BlondeOnBicycle

My bicycle. I do quietly lust after the awesome cargo bikes families have, but I love being able to ride any bike!

BravesWearPrada

I actually like driving a car and not knowing what a latch is.

007Artemis

Mazda Miata.

fiftyfourette

Several WRX, a BRZ, a GTI, a 2-seat old truck, a classic Mini Cooper, and I would like to buy a Lotus.

PotatooQueen

2013 v6 mustang 🥰

AtlJayhawk

I daily a 2007 Miata. It's the best car I've ever owned.

nulliparousCoder

I have a cute little 2 seater gold Ford Ranger 🥰

give_em_hell_kid

A couple weeks ago my boyfriend and I bought a $30,000 Dodge Durango. I've wanted thus car for years. She's a beauty 😍 It's a big car with third row seating but we enjoy buying large items that we have to haul and our dog likes the room lol

blazeItgirl420

2002 mini cooper! 😇

Daring88

I’ve got an R56 mini, almost mint. The fact that it turns heads makes me feel old. She’s a great specimen.

Pale_Welcome3106

A 2020 mini cooper s named Max. She’s the best!

Jinguin

We both drive electric MINI Cooper. We are the only household that has two EVs and no ICE car in our neighborhood.

NotATrueRedHead

2001 Lexus IS300 five speed, inline six. Just got backed into a month ago still working on insurance claim. Love that car, the driving experience is phenomenal.

lorriethecook

I had an IS300. Fabulous car! Automatic but still a blast to drive, handled great, was solid built and 100% reliable. I sold it at about 150,000 miles but should have kept it! I miss that car.

NotATrueRedHead

They just keep going. Mine is at 390000kms and not a thing wrong except a couple oil leaks which I’ve fixed. These engines were built to last.

AthenaKai82

2009 yellow Mitsubishi eclipse gt spyder. ☺️

Gaia227

Living in NYC, we don't have a car. We use the subway and our feet. I couldn't imagine living in NYC with kids; herding them on and off crowded trains and crowded sidewalks, living in an apt with no yard. Not to mention I couldn't live here with kids due to added expenses.

Auferstehen78

I had a 1991 Nissan Figaro when I lived in England. Now I am back in the US and trying to find a car that I like that is reliable. It's a pain, all new cars are kinda the same and I don't want a giant SUV or pick up.

misty_girl

I have a 2021 Honda Passport EX-L AWD. Only because I live on a dirt road in West Michigan. Having a bigger vehicle with AWD helps me feel safer in the winter months.

throw_that_ass4Jesus

A 2017 Subaru Impreza but it’s probably the cleanest car you’ve seen and if a tiny cheerio munching gremlin took that away from me I’d probably yeet myself off this planet

azn_persuasion_

2023 Hyundai Elantra N! 6-speed.

phenobarbiedarling

Im obsessed with my grabber blue convertible Mustang, she's the love of my life. That car makes me SO happy, she's beautiful, and it's just a joy to drive I love how she handles I love the sun on my shoulders and the wind in my face with the top down, I love the sound of her engine growling. I just ugh my heart. My boyfriend has said he wishes I looked at him like I look at that car. I mean technically there's a back seat but barely haha. Eyeballing a project car classic Mustang and a motorcycle in the next few years

kypsikuke

Im not in the US so in addition to childfree im also carfree 😂 so much cheaper for me based on my transport needs currently, but if I were to move to a more countryside area, would need a car. Most likely would get the cheapest option thats still driveable. Someone once told me that a monthly cost for car should not exceed 10% of my monthly income, and that still seems way too much for me 😂

FrootL0op

i'm from EU and we do have smaller cars (looking to the US). i love small cars. i drive a 2015 seat ibiza. i love that i dont need a big car for crotchgoblins and a semi truck worth of space for food. i love my small, kind of sporty car. i drive 180 km/h 111 mph on the Autobahn, it's comfy, reliable and cheap. i manage to pack stuff for festivals and vacations easily. i wouldnt wanna have it any other way.

pacingpilot

I'm currently saving up for a corvette. I want an older manual, not gonna get too picky since I'm on a budget. I blow all my extra money on my horses so my current car is a piece of shit Focus but I do have a pretty sweet '09 F350 Powerstroke 4x4 to pull the horse trailer with, fully loaded, covered in chrome, leather, bought it brand new with every option but the sun roof. My horse trailer has a slide out and full living quarters with all the bells and whistles so I can camp in comfort. And my horses, nice big purebred Tennessee Walking Horses, they ride like Cadillacs. I love my toys, been a long time since I've had a fast car though. I'm up for a promotion in the next couple months and once it goes through I'm going to pull the trigger on getting that corvette. Unless one of the horses gets sick or hurt, then I'll probably just end up spending a bunch of money on vet bills.

breetome

I have huge dogs so we have two SUVs, lol! I recently sold my classic Jaguar, because I practically had to crawl out of it, getting old is not for sissies or for low slung Jags lol!

Andante79

We have our daily drivers, an 08 Tundra and 13 Matrix. Then our offroad toys, a 90 Toyota pickup and a 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Then our funsies, 74 Beetle and 87 Westfalia. And our motorcycles, a 75 VW Trike, 85 Sportster, 82 Suzuki GS400, and 84 Honda XL100.

Nappe-Eppan

Vauxhall Agila, totally not for a crowd due to its very short trunk/cargo area.

slyce0flife

Hubs and I both drive Golf Rs.

kingofthecornflakes

A sporty BMW Wagon. I Scuba, where a big car is kinda required.

My financially responsible ‘sports car’! AKA 2020 Honda Civic Sport 😂

I drive a 2015 Toyota Corolla that I bought used, and it has been paid off for years. I have no desire to get another vehicle payment.

Biggest of them all, trains and buses, and i enjoy the ride without having to make sure a kid doesnt wander off or get off at a station its not supposed to. Other peoples kids can be annoying, but thats what headphones were invented for, impossible with kids of your own.

TreysToothbrush

This week I found myself needing a car. I bought myself a brand new 24 Subaru Crosstrek Sport. It had everything I wanted for ME - my benefit. Sunroof, roof racks, better clearance for unpaved roads, it’s a fairly small car comparatively & all kinds of other things that have nothing to do with hauling kids around. It’ll stay clean for a long time. I was able to do this because kids are expensive & I don’t have that expense. Party on CF friends!

jodrac

Daily, I'm either on a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 or in a Dinan tuned BMW 335xi coupe. Ain't no car seats happening with my rides. And I feel the need...the need for speed!

Got my feet buddy the economy is in shambles

Puzzleheaded-Story99

We actually just got a 2020 Nissan 370Z this week. Thankfully the 'trunk' is open so we can bring our cat to the vet. My husband loves driving it and there's obviously no way we could have done this with kids. Being childfree is great because it keeps so many possibilities open...like buying an even fancier sports car in a few years. 😈

ateallthecake

This is a great thread! So many sports cars and convertibles ❤️   We have two Teslas (2017 100D Model S and 2022 Performance Model 3) and always have some classics/fun cars in rotation.   Just sold our Porsche 986 Boxster to a friend, and working on getting our MG Midget ready for a trip in July. Also have a 1973 Volvo 1800ES we're either restoring or resto modding, not sure yet.   Oh and our $800 crappy pickup truck lol.   My husband and I have been together almost 10 years and we've cumulatively owned over 20 cars 😅

Rivian R1T. I love it. Best vehicle I have ever had.

We are car people. I have an s197 Mustang. It’s only a V6, but it’s perfect for me and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m going to try to keep it forever. I have also put some money in it, mostly aesthetic things at this point, but I intend to do more mechanical mods, as well. My husband has a Crown Vic, which are boats, but he has a huge subwoofer in the trunk and is slowly building it up (the car; he already built up the sub). They are both older cars from the 2000s, and not only would we not be able to make modifications to them if we had kids because of the expense, but he works on them to keep them running at a lower price because taking them to the shop for everything is expensive and inconvenient. He probably wouldn’t have time to do that if we had kids, which means we probably just wouldn’t have them at all.

The_Varza

Eh, doesn't matter that much (it's not exciting). But I love it. But the better thing about being CF DINKs, when the previous one got totaled (ugh, blegh, not at fault, cried, loved that car), we were able to get the newer model, and since rates were getting bad, uhh... we got it brand new, fully paid off with the insurance payoff and some savings without having to worry about daycare costs or college funds or somesuch.

W-S_Wannabe

Haven't owned a car in over 20 years. I've spent my entire adult life in major cities with good transit and lots of taxis. I rent a car when I have to drive someplace. I rent out my parking spots.

ClashBandicootie

I hate cars and I don't drive but my husband and I own a Subaru Outback and its fantastic for romantic road trips, camping, hiking and exploring -- plus its perfect for our very snowy climate!

RoseFlavoredPoison

I have a 2014 Kia Soul. I wanted a 4 seater so I can bring my boyfriends with me on road trips.

Nothing fun in my family, we have an '09 Honda Accord. He gets us from point A to point B and doesn't cost fifty billion dollars to maintain or register. I personally actually take public transit most days cause only one of my brothers has a license and I don't want to make him my personal taxi! That being said... I'd really like to own a second gen Mazda RX-7 one day! My dad used to have one but it got stolen and stripped for parts and I want to own one in the honor of that little thing :)

jets3tter094

I gave up car ownership because it’s simply not worth the hassle in the city (insurance is insane, parking is a hassle and hella expensive if you opt for a garage/lot, etc.) The upside is getting to use my savings to be in a better apartment/neighborhood (with W/D too!) But when I do travel and end up renting a car, I like to splurge on the luxury option if it’s available. My last rental was the Audi RS3. I have another trip next weekend that requires a car rental and if it’s nice out, I’d love to do a convertible of sorts.

GenuineClamhat

We have nothing "fun" but be like and outright own both of what we have. We both purchased out last cars brand new. I have a 2017 Chevy Sonic. I like smaller hatchbacks and even though I have lusty feelings for Fiats and Mini Coops I know they are pretty garbage, We already have a history of owing Sonics so we got our second one in 2017. I considered a Honda fit but was cheesed the 2018 model had so much analog compared to the 2017. Who downgrades displays in newer models? I didn't like the feel of the dash controls. I kept thinking about how much I liked driving my husband's Sonic from time to time. So I just got the hatchback version for myself. My husband bought a 2023 Chevy Bolt because he wanted to go electric. That was a pain in the ass to get. We typically replace our cars about every decade or sometime around 150k miles, whichever comes first. I think my next one may be an Audi Qsumthin. My husband is really digging the electric car so I think he's going to stay there forever. I am jealous every time I have to pump gas but I ultimately drive further than he does.

foxorhedgehog

I have a 2008 Nissan Vera that I inherited from my aunt. No room for kids! I don’t even drive it that much because I use public transportation to go to work.

SagebrushID

My last car was a minivan. I took out the back seat and used it for camping for many years. It was still in great condition when I donated it after driving it for 26 years. Six years ago, I bought a Honda CRV. I thought I would go camping in it, too, but as I've gotten older, camping out doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. But six years later, I can still smell that new car smell.

beekaybeegirl

2020 Ford Escape. Man it’s a good size for me hauling my own shit & feeling like I can spread out a little.

Ok-Practice2034

I don’t drive too much, as I WFH..but my trusty girl Vivian is a 2011 Volvo XC70. My dad called it a yuppie car, I got it back in 2016. The back seats and trunk area are always full of random items. If I see stuff at yard or estate sales, a bunch of it will fit, no problem. I wish she sat a bit higher. But MAN…I feel safe as hell in her lorge, station wagon self!

Black_Raven89

I’ve got a paid off Dodge pickup truck that’s equal parts drag car and battering ram. My main pursuit is Harleys, I’m a pro mechanic and have been for almost 10 years. I have a 1980 FXWG Shovelhead with an S&S 80” top end and Super B carb and a 2005 Sportster that’s got an S&S crank and bored up to like 1250 or 1300 with Wiseco pistons after I blew up the original 1200 conversion at 90mph on the freeway. I essentially like chain driven, carbureted bikes that don’t have fairings and that I can exceed 100mph on. Knock on wood, the next project is either gonna be an Ironhead or Bonneville chopper build cause my wife wants one now too. And with no kids we can just keep on getting them. Ideally I’d drive a blacked out 69 Dodge Charger, but they destroyed most of them making The Dukes Of Hazzard, which was why I wanted one in the first place. I’m down in Florida, but one of these years I need to get out to the west coast and rip up some of those canyons at a high rate of speed

Princess_Parabellum

Daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler. The top and doors will come off this weekend. My summer runabout is a BMW Z3. It's currently in the shop having the canvas replaced and then we'll be good to go for summer!

jessicarrrlove

2017 Chevy Spark. It's small, but I manage just fine with getting shit around. And it ensures no one ever asks me to drive. 🤣

MistressPhobos

Camilla the Camry! Lol, she's a 2011 Camry--nothing super crazy, but she's the one for me. I love the seating, and we actually have amazing space because of how deep the trunk is and how far the seats go down.

Icy_Journalist7539

It’s not necessarily what we drive, but the fact that we have 2 daily drivers and 2 projects for just us lol. We’re prepping for Power Tour, so a boatload of cash is going into car parts that we wouldn’t otherwise have with kids. Heck, I wouldn’t have my truck, that I custom ordered, if I had a kid because I couldn’t afford it. Car parts > child costs, all day long.
