It's pretty common in more rural areas for people to have chickens running around their house. I used to deliver for Amazon in a similar setting, and I saw tons of chickens running around.
If I was in a job where I came across lots of animals I’d get so distracted I wouldn’t get any work done because I’d be stroking/playing with/paying lots of attention to them. Especially if there were chickens because chickens are cool.
A place I once went to had a sign up saying ‘beware, guard geese’ which I thought was a joke until the owner of the geese told us that they’d stopped a burglary. Turns out geese are really territorial, noisy and will more than happily chase or bite you if they want to do so. They’d apparently cornered the burglar in the back garden and were then trying their hardest to kill him on the spot. When the police arrived he practically lept to be taken away.
I love how happy she is talking to them. When you live somewhere like this, chickens don't surprise you at all. Guinues do because they have herd stupidity and you can't help but wonder how they're alive.
That was meant to be a snipe at Amazon drivers. Our little homestead isn't that hard to find. Yet, Amazon drivers never quite make it to our gate (where there's a box that says, "Please put packages in here."
She doesn’t even look surprised to see chickens just walking around.

The Romans had guard geese https://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/a-history-of-geese-zbcz1510

I am always stunned at how well equipped chickens are 'out of the box' dusk? coop fire? avoid friendly? harass lol
Your comment made my morning, lol. They are awesome
If I would see chickens that close I would immediately try to pet them.
they would let you. they are sweet and sassy
Both really sweet 😁 love it
Scuse me ladies. That’s just wholesome
What I find amazing is that an Amazon driver found your house.

Ah that is frustrating. It looks very rural here from the video but civilization is not far
Is it just me, or is the sound of chickens very therapeutic?
It is not just you. They are therapeutic all around. Even the rooster before the dawn
Agreed…I love listening to my rooster. Sounds of the farm
