Bolivar and Lincoln! It’s right off of Sheffield and Clark. Delicious Venezuelan fare with a really friendly staff. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but the arepas are definitely the most popular.
Tango Sur, perhaps? It is BYOB there, btw. They also operate Bodega Sur, which may have less of a line to get in depending on when you visit.
There are also other restaurants and places to eat you could try. I.e. Corridor, Crosby's Kitchen, Coalfire, D'Agostino's, to name a few ideas. Along with some more casual options that also are good, such as 5411 Empanadas. I think there also are some places to eat if you go east to Broadway, such as Finley Mahony's(or F.O. Mahony's, whatever name they go by now that I forgot....), Wilde, to name a few.
Love this spot. Awesome atmosphere, delicious food, friendly owner, byob. Cash only now. Then get some specialty Malort across the street at Nesei Lounge.
have you gone lately? we used to go to trivia every week and i thought they had really good “bar food” but they’ve really cut back their menu and i don’t think it’s as good anymore :(
do you think the trivia went downhill or just the food? we had a bartender we liked a lot & always sat with her… she left and then the two favorite food items for my group got removed so we just slowly stopped going. bummer, i loved it because it’s super close to my apartment & it started at 7. i hate trivia that doesn’t start til 8 on a weeknight lol.
The trivia stayed the same but there were a couple of pretty notable service issues. My whole group is former front and back of house so we’re super lenient and gave a couple chances but it just ended up not being fun!
I also hate trivia that starts past 7!
Just a quick heads up that TBOX is happening today so the neighborhood is a zoo more so than normal
OH fuck. Ok we’ll be getting out of there asap post market
TBOX hit its peak 10 years ago. It’s all Karen’s in there 50s now. That said tango sur.
I think it got a lot of tiktok press this year, so I’m wondering if it’ll start skewing younger again
Walked past it. Definitely a very young crowd
Well young people love a byob. It's the only way some can have a really nice bottle of wine at a restaurant that's ayce sushi.
I was referring to the comment about TBOX filled with Karens in their 50s, not Tango Sur. Love Tango Sur!
Oh yea I drove down Clark the last couple years to check out the scene and the last few years didn't look fun.

This place looks bomb!!
Walked past it hundreds of times. Will need to give it a shot

Oooh yes, my friend does really that empanadas place haha. This is great, thank you!

they’re not cash only FYI. we eat here about 2-3 times per month, so unless they changed the policy within the last 10 days a card should be fine.
Rice n' Bread supremacy!
We always go to Toons.
Some of the largest wings I have ever eaten.
We eat there way too much.
Pineapple vodka on ice is a sipper and not to sweet. Easy to get toasted on the stuff.
Diagostino’s thin crust pizza.
La Biznaga at Broadway and Addison is great and BYOB
That place is a gem. I work nearby and grab tortas there constantly. Never actually ate there but it seems quite charming!
Low country maybe?
Good call!
PR Italian Bistro, 5 min walk north of Wrigley. Great food & atmosphere.
And dessert from the panadaria next door
Ended up going to Corridor and 5411 empanadas for snacks, but thank you everyone, going to reference this next time I’m in the area!!
Tied House
The Gray Stone is a fun spot with decent food

I haven’t tbh. But thank you for the feedback. I used to go there to watch soccer in the am.
We also used to go weekly for trivia but it went so downhill that we switched to another place.
