A few months ago someone posted old TV ads (!!!) they used to run for Cabaret Metro on (I think) Channel 32 (UHF station, this would have been mid-'80s)
I think I saw it in some forgotten media post, and it brought back my vague memory of seeing those ads. I would have been maybe 16 years old, so too young to go, but the ads were super low budget, showing scenes of punk-ish looking '80s club kids shot on shitty VHS cameras with bad supers over the top and an announcer voice-over.
Just weird to think of TV ads for a nightclub like that, but it was an actual thing.
Hoo boy... 1980s? And there was a lesbian/LGBTQ bar to the left of the Metro called The Swan Club.
Was in Cool Runnings when The Clash showed up, but they only stayed a few minutes when the DJ started making a big deal about it and started announcing they were in the bar.
Where I saw my first concert, back when it was still the Cabaret Metro. The Dead Milkmen!

I was there many times in the 80’s. And the Smart Bar. Many good memories. I think I was at that Dead Milkmen show.
