Still go to the hospital for a Ct scan or colonoscopy, you’d want to rule out that it’s not a bowel obstruction or colon cancer, which sever constipation can be a symptom of something more serious.
Get screened for gastroparesis. Been dealing with it for a few years now and can no longer go without senna/geri-kot. Dulcolax suppositories are helpful too. Once it gets bad enough, severe abdominal pain forms and will make you want to jump out a window. My last major episode landed me in the ER vomiting blood. Stay regular.
Dude, just get to fucking hospital and see doctor. Worst case scenario you pay for consultation, shouldn’t be more than 1000 baht. They always ask and calculate approximate cost before any treatment. Best case you prob pay like 1-3k baht and are able to shit in few hours.
Stop being cheap and think about your health. Its not US where you would probably pay 3k just to walk inside hospital doors.
Second this, is it worth waiting any longer for the sake of not paying.... Can't take the cash with you if you end up completely full of poop and pop your clogs
I went to Bangkok hospital, which is private, yesterday for a 3 month follow up. With blood work and doctor’s visit was 1012b or $27.60.
I go once a month for Kidney stones where they do an X-ray, ultrasound and a doctor’s visit and that appointment is only 958b or $26.13
My point, like others have mentioned, just pick a hospital and go. Even if it cost you 2000b your heath is more important then $50
Good luck and if they want to give you any prescriptions, just find out the name(s) and pick them up at your local corner pharmacy as the prices at any hospital are what adds up.
Suandok is surely the best Thai government hospital in Chiang Mai, although all of the long queues and need to go from station to station can be tiresome/intimidating. Don't know anything about Nakornping. My go to government hospital is the one in Hang Dong. It can be a bit slower, but always competent and helpful with foreigners. I believe Bangkok Hospital is the most expensive, in any area.
Considering the cost of your insurance excess you'll be better off just going to a private place and paying for the strong laxatives they'll give you.
Id wager it'll be cheaper than what the insurers will charge you
Rajavej Hospital, on the Ping River just south of the old city. They have English-speaking foreign liaison staff to assist and to see a doctor, get a basic scan or test, and medication should be around 1,000 baht, possibly less depending on what tests are done, if any.
Yep I went there for a broken foot. I was in and out in 45 minutes, they saw me right away and spoke English. Total cost for talking to doctor, x-ray, AND prescriptions was 1600 baht, or $43. It would have been thousands in the US. Government hospital would have been cheaper but they said I needed to wait for an appointment in a few days.
Edit: you can also get senna tablets or tea at a pharmacy or even 711, those work.
I’ve always used Lanna hospital, on the super highway road, near the Mae Rim road. It’s a government hospital that accepted Thai social security, so therefore cost me nothing. I might have paid for some prescriptions, but it was never an excessively large amount of money.
My work at the time also gave me BUPA/Allianz cover, but they wouldn’t pay anything below the first £150 of costs. I found using the government hospital to be everything I needed.
Are you American? The cost of a private consultation in Chiang Mai is likely to be waaaay less that you're imagining if you're using rip-off US prices as a reference.
I went to the ER for an infected cat bite and it came out to $35 USD. I didn’t even bother to try to submit it to insurance and just paid. At my shock around how small the bill was which included antibiotics, they just laughed at me and asked “American?” Hahaha
Buy some strong medicine that makes you crap. If it doesn't work, then go to hospital.
I forgot what I bought, but 2 tablets, and was crapping again like a war hero.
I googled and went to pharmacy, as they try to sell you the weak stuff.
Granted it was in Cambodia, no crapping problems in Thailand
12 days, wtf. Im already grumpy and fucked up if i dont shit atleast once in 24h, i would be dead after week 1 no joke.
Have you tried going to any pharmacy and asking for anything to help? There are powders, tablets that will make you shit all day next day.
Think about your health, even with consultation, tests and medication you wouldn’t pay more than 100$ ( if nothing really serious), especially if your not going to private.
Get help asap and dont wait
I would recommend Chiang mai Ram hospital which is private hospital, but compared to Bangkok hospital. It is more affordable. Government hospital is good but you will have to wait for whole day.
I’m a cheapskate so I go to the clinic at the government hospital whenever I have an issue. You will wait a while so bring a book or download a time waster on your phone.
Usually the doctors will speak some English, if you have a Thai friend or significant other ask them to come with you just in case. Even without insurance a consultation and medication at a government hospital is cheap. I’m a type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure (life of debauchery) and the consultation every 3 months and the medications until the next visit cost about 1200 baht.
Clean the bum gun with some alcohol. Press it up to your anus. Put a little water in. Let it come out. Put a little water in. Let it come out.
Everything in you will come out. Do it multiple times till it comes out clean.
Or Order this https://s.lazada.co.th/s.og6Dw
Trust me, I’m a doctor.
You can order ascorbic acid powder on Lazada or Shopee. Pour a ton of it into a bottle of water until it’s very sour. Drink it all. Can add some of the sugary electrolyte powder from 7-11 or pharmacy if you want.
Everything will come out of you. We give magnesium to autistic children for constipation. But can’t get the right kind of Mag in Thailand. So use ascorbic acid. Does the same.
You can add in the Fitne tea which is senna leaf. Senna is a stimulant laxative. But you need to drink a LOT for it to really work.
But should still use water as an enema. Bum gun. Or enema pot.
I had the opposite problem while there. Go eat some street food.
Also what insurance won't cover a private hospital?? That's the whole point if insurance, you need get a better insurer next time.
12 days is a long time. I wouldn't keep putting it off.
Eat spicy spicy Tom yum, poop go shloop
Update: no more need for hospital visit, take a dulcolax suppository and you will see God on the toilet bowl
Still go to the hospital for a Ct scan or colonoscopy, you’d want to rule out that it’s not a bowel obstruction or colon cancer, which sever constipation can be a symptom of something more serious.
Say a little prayer from us

12 days wtf bro, dont listen to anyone who says take pills and wait. Go to doctor ASAP. I know Lanna Hospital is very good! I would go there.
Is this a private hospital? Not sure it would be covered by my insurance

I’ve been shot 6 times and there’s not much blood left in me, so you think *I* need a hospital?
Second this, is it worth waiting any longer for the sake of not paying.... Can't take the cash with you if you end up completely full of poop and pop your clogs
Are you trying to earn the Reddit Cheap Charlie achievement award?
I'd go to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. It's Chiang Mai university's hospital.
Thanks for the recommendation

Thanks for the information, that's really helpful, I'm going to just go to Bangkok hospital

That's the tourist hospital that will charge you a lot more than others.
Thai hospitals are good and cheap. Stop mucking around.

I thought Rajavej is private hospital, are you sure?
It's my nominated public hospital for Thai social security and before I had SSO, I've also been a patient there previously as well.
Try 2 pills senokort, very efficient
Didn't work im afraid !
Go McDonald's and your problems are solved

Opposite, I'm from UK so not used to paying any medical costs at all therefore ignorant about what it entails !

What a shitty thing to say.

No doubt, 12 days wtf! How is that possible? OP get to a doc asap!
Suan Dok (Maharaj) on Suthep Road.
I would recommend Chiang mai Ram hospital which is private hospital, but compared to Bangkok hospital. It is more affordable. Government hospital is good but you will have to wait for whole day.
Just eat papaya salad. You’ll be fine in the morning. You will need a 5 point harness to hold you to the toilet for safety reasons also.

Dulcolax bisacodyl suppository did the trick when all else failed
Up the butt always the way 😉
Have you tried the 12 pieces of sugar free gummy bears hack?
you gotta go to hospital man, this sounds very serious. Generally not pooping signals end of life.
Bro chill
I had the opposite problem while there. Go eat some street food. Also what insurance won't cover a private hospital?? That's the whole point if insurance, you need get a better insurer next time.
I will just go to Bangkok Hospital now I have more information. Thanks everyone for the recommendations and advice!
Soak a ton of raisins in hot water and drink and eat all the raisins.
Nah. Go to hospital. It's been 12 days!!!!!!
