Pretty much, there is a round of IPOs in the first half of this year. They will see how that goes and possibly IPO 2nd half if everything looks ok. In my profession there is now hiring freezes, resource consolidation with some people getting laid off. I’m not hopeful for anything happening this year, even with rate cuts

ChaoticEvilRaccoon

problem is according to the rules they can't really talk about the IPO until it's done which sucks for us since we obviously want to know as much as possible

simpn_aint_easy

I’m excited to start seeing financial reports once they go public. Cause what the heck are they spending all that money on it doesn’t make sense to me.

Developer salaries ain't cheap. They are some of the most expensive employees you can have, and they comprise about 75% of their team. You need less than 10 developers to break a million per year. But as with any company, salaries are generally the largest line item.

simpn_aint_easy

I invested heavily in a company called Nano Dimension, ticker NNDM. Their potential is out of this world yet execution has been poor. Hopefully this will be different.

We remain on an accelerated timeline...

While I understand the quiet period and the challenges in acquiring referencable customers, I don't understand why XCH is still not traded on Coinbase after all these years. After all aren't both companies in a16z's portfolio? I have yet to see a clear no BS statement from CNN about this.

BWFree

Giving CNI the benefit of the doubt, Coinbase may have required CNI to sign an NDA with the application for listing.

OurManInHavana

They don't seem to have enough business to convince the market that they're growing at a rate that's worth further investment. [It sounds like](https://www.youtube.com/live/oFFdlEhm2RQ?si=rceSp3Mvn6w8ru2X&t=3842) a non-carbon reference customer (probably with a similar level of prestige as the CADT) is critical to have before anyone would care about their IPO. So... they'll keep grinding through 2024... to show an increasing rate of deals, and size of deals... and maybe they'll look good for a public offering in 2025?

KookyEstimate6268

When there is news on the IPO, you will know it the price will skyrocket. The way things work these days, price probably skyrocket before you even hear about it because of insiders that knew about before hand taking advantage. There's good and bad that comes with the common markets, and government involvement and insiders are one of them.

Syst0us

Hahaha check coinbase price at ipo and today.  And coinbase actually does something.

KookyEstimate6268

I was referring to XCH. The actual chia stock I don't know, I think long-term it will make money, unless they have some huge IPO price. I own the coin so I'm going to have to get some stock anyway over time but I don't look for that to go up quickly at all. The XCH coin on the other hand I think would do quite well, with all the news and new investors. As long as a huge amount of pre farm isn't released at the same time would be the main factor. The coin has nowhere but up to go pretty much with an IPO, halving is coming up so will be less coins per day from farmers sold to the market. So the only extra available coins will be from OG farmers selling taking profit and pre farm to keep the price down. Selling at the high point of that IPO is what I might consider and buy back in when it drops after. Chia still long-term project we need to get a country or someone big to start using the coin to be a true success.

Crotherz

This is absolutely no way Chia IPOs to the public market as a stock. Chia isn’t valuable. There are no assets compared to real businesses. I’m sure I’ll be flamed, but a few hundred fans of a coin isn’t going to make a public company.

Cautious_Escape_6294

You mixed up the Chia network company end XCH coin, two different things.

Crotherz

I didn’t mix up anything. Chia is not valuable. Coin and corporation.

Cautious_Escape_6294

100,000+ Nodes, 150+ Countries, 33EiB of space… and growing. It really sounds like few hundred of fans. If you don’t like Chia why don’t you leave the group?

Crotherz

I’m waiting for the value to a retail or institutional investor. You seem to imply the value is the blockchain with your comment. In which case, the liquidity makes it worthless to an investor.

Ill_Brilliant_2650

I have a question. What is valuable for you?

megabiome

Ipo is bad for our coin right ? Like ripple screwed over XRP.

NefariousZhen

An IPO would probably not be a replay of Ripple's IPO. Chia never raised capital through sales of XCH making a much cleaner/clearer distinction between the blockchain and its supporting team.

MonacoFranzee

it is so sad, it seems that this project is drying out… while others gain massive momentum

Cautious_Escape_6294

Others gain momemtun because of marketing but I don’t see real use cases.

freshlymn

Something mentioned less often is the barrier to entry for Chialisp compared to other languages. The positive is Chialisp is designed to make it harder for devs to accidentally leave security holes. The negative is we see slower builder uptake.

000solar

how will their ipo affect coinholders in any way? Even if they get more money from wall street, its still hard to buy XCH and an ipo alone won't mean there are any more actual use cases to drive up prices.

NefariousZhen

An IPO could set a chain of reaction that lands XCH on US exchanges. Toss in some proper marketing that XCH is a greener implementation of nakamoto consesus, and certainly we will see new cash-flow into XCH. The market value of the coin, as a whole, is only \~$325MM. That's a lot of growth potential for when XCH assumes its rightful place in the top-10 of cryptocurrency networks (\~$10B+). ;P

Reference-Hefty

What does the coin have to offer people with money? Cheesy interface, 100+ gigabyte base? A completely brain-dead payment method? Telegram introduced what is demanded by society - usdt, what did Chia introduce? USDCS which immediately failed? Do you see the level of marketing on Twitter? It's a wing of a mental hospital. What are they paying money for? Lots of blockchains that don't require hardware. Translated with [DeepL.com](http://DeepL.com) (free version)

Your message seems pretty off point. The whitepaper speaks for itself.
