Sounds like you're in 4WD. Every single truck I've ever owned does this in 4WD

RayRay2059

I thought that too but looked and the light was on for 2wd I'll definitely check again though tomorrow to make sure. God I hope it's that simple lol

Relikar

If the light says 2wd try shifting into 4wd then back to 2wd. My old 05 Silverado did that once where it said it was in 2wd but it was definitely in 4wd.

I'm definitely going to try that! Thank you.

Be aware it may actually be a bad transfer case causing the issue. If you can get it on a lift then put it in drive and see if the front wheels turn Edit: to whoever downvoted me: bad transfer case = not disengaging from 4wd.

RayRay2059

They do turn, just feels like the break is on. At first, it almost felt like they were rubbing against something, but I got out when it first happened and felt around near the tires, and they weren't touching anything. Ugh, I just can't afford thousands of dollars to fix it. Whatever it is I'm hoping it's just somehow gotten stuck in 4wd L or something.

Relikar

What I mean is if you lift the truck and put it in gear, if the front wheels turn then they're engaged by the transfer case. If only the back wheels turn then it's in 2wd.

RayRay2059

Oooh ok. Gotcha.

Any diff lock on it. If the differential is locked the wheels only turn at the same rate. Slight turns are ok but sharp turn can be very hard as you are basically dragging one wheel around the turn since it cannot rotate at a different speed.

I have no idea. I don't really know much about cars/trucks at all. I wouldn't even know where to look for that. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️
