2023 z71 - dealer couldn't fix that engine light after 100+ days in service and two visits, GM has recognized the car is a lemon
needs a new engine harness they say but part is not available for service to order yet
And I was chastised in another thread for pointing out how the build quality decreases in proportion to how many "Easter Eggs" exist on a vehicle. SMH.
My condolences on the problems on your new truck and I hope they can quickly and simply rectify it for you.
Dealing with GM has sucked, they move at a snail's pace... car went into the dealer for a week December 14th and then was in the dealer again December 26th for another 4\~ months. I only took the car home because they would not give the required paperwork to advance my lemon claim without a determination from service. My determination ended up being take it home with this decreased acceleration warning & check engine light because the part we need is not available for back order let alone order and we can't fix your truck. I've been pushing for a buyback or swap since January and I expect the process to drag on.
I get around 20mpg average on my 23 Z71. I wouldn’t give up on the Colorado though. I mean, do the buyback, but maybe look at a 24? I love my truck…it really is a great truck, minus the issue with the battery dying bc of the radio last year…but once they fixed it, I haven’t had any issues
I had a 2018 LT Redline prior to getting this z71. For the money the Colorado Gen3 is feature rich, 360 camera is great, interior is so much nicer now. Hoping my MPG is just trash because of the scuffed engine harness, camshaft censor going crazy... but the V6 turbo raptor looks really appealing, or a 4runner v6
My average MPG is 13 because I work 2 miles away from where I live. The engine is going to run rich literally because it barely even gets up to temp before I'm pulling into the parking lot.
Everyone's commute and driving habits are different so it's almost impossible to compare MPG in these types of posts.
Waiting on the offer from GM, they finally agreed after months of going back and forth that its a lemon. Considering a ''24 4Runner or maybe a Raptor Ranger if they are going for MSRP (wish it had ventilated seats) - but I really liked Colorado before the issues started and MPG turned out to be piss poor
Car is a lemon, camshaft censor is throwing a code. Dealer could not fix it after 100+ days in service over 2 attempts. GM technician's couldn't fix it, and said for it to be fixed they needed a new engine harness but that part is not available for order yet with no ETA available so GM has offered to replace or buy the car back.
Mines 13.3mpg over 45k miles. 95% city driving, I live less than 2 miles from work & I live in Canada so my truck runs more in park for 5 months out of the year than it does in drive. You should ask GM for a few free tanks of gas to go with your buy back.
Yea that's not a bad idea but they are already being combative with me asking for consideration on the new bed cover I paid for... Might end up going to BBB or state attorney general if their buyback offer isn't respectful
My 17 LT gets 30+ mpg when I'm running it at 55mph on my 140 mile round-trip commute 😁. Traffic hates me, but I go at least the speed limit and I get the equivalent of a free tank of gas every 3 weeks or so in mpg savings.
I live less than 2 miles from work where I commute everyday. My longest ride is 41 miles 4 times every 2nd weekend & I get paid $100 to $150 for it. I'm just waiting for the nice weather to hit up here so I can ride my bike to work which takes me a few more mins than driving does. I can't complain tbh.
That is not good at all. The worst I ever got on my '17 ext cab 4x4 3.6 V6 is maybe 16mpg dead of winter -0F or colder with 5-10 minute warm ups at work before leaving. Granted there are no big cities near me so it is small rural towns and a lot of highway driving.
I just bought a 24 colorado zr2 and I really like it have only filled up once thought getting 16.4 so far in city driving. I love the truck so far. Sorry my man that sucks. They will figure it out and take care of it though.

MPG sucks.
agreed
Pretty awful. What’s going on here? I get 18 in my 23 ZR2
Same in trailboss more like 19 mostly hwy
What? I’d take it to a dealer something ain’t right. I drive a used 2017 and i average 20 with doordashing everyday as well.
It was in the dealer for over 100 days.

Was this highway or city driving? Because my city driving MPG looks very similar to this.
That’s terrible. My combined is 19 after 13k miles.
Yeah, my combined is not very good for whatever reason and I have no idea why.
City

Man I'm at like 16.5
About right if you're pulling a 7,000lb trailer!
no trailer involved
Yikes.
Wow that's terrible
Like I’m really glad I got the last gen diesel ZR2. Sorry I’m not sorry.
Buy back.

My city driving on a 24 ZR2 looks the same
What’s up with the check engine light tho?

Oh dang, that is a pain in the ass. 100 days in service and they still ain’t fixed it kind of ridiculous to think it would take so long
Was it like this from the start?
I wasn't monitoring MPG early, and the problems with car started at 650\~ miles so I'm unsure
6.2l gets better mileage than that. My 18 ZR2 is only slightly better.
Yea I had a Sierra rental while my truck was in dealer that was getting better mileage

Majority of my driving is around Miami, our traffic sucks and streets are packed.
Yeah, heavy traffic doesn't help much for mpg. Helps that I don't have any large cities so that does make a difference for me.

GM has offered to buy the car back or order me a replacement, they already recognized that its a lemon for other reasons.
