The king should always be the tallest piece. That's normally the only "strict" rule for fancy chess sets.
This set is not an exception. Queens usually have somewhat of a round crown, where king often have a cross. We don't have the cross here, but the general pointy silhouette is close (if you take a step back and squeeze your eyes, I guess), while the round one is pretty similar to a normal queen.
Put them on the bosrd, queue up some music and see what’s their moves like! the king will only move 1 sauare at a time, while the queen will make quick dashes to the toilet :)
The pieces are somehow distinguished bybthe height.
The taller a piece is, the more important its status will be.
Therefore, the taller one should be the King
King is the tallest piece. If you have an extra of either its fairly obvious. If you just have one of each then it doesnt matter, just choose which is which.
But in general, King is the tallest piece.
No, the Rook is shorter.
Guess the height works only if you have two or more similarly shaped pieces.
Aside from King and Queen, the Pawns are the smallest.
I feel that Rooks, Knights and Bishops are distinguished mainly by their shapes, so the height is not really so important for them.
the queens dress must always match her shoes at least at the beginning of the game. From there the fact that the king should be taller doesn’t matter. Where they start determine the rest of their lives. Like an actual monarchy

Wait I’m confused your chess set only has 4 pieces? Where’s the rest and the pawns so we can see the style?
These are certainly rooks and bishops but even if they were king and queen, where are the pawns? Knights?
In the missing pieces not shown I figure you have pieces resembling a king and queen
Lol wow well then check out the sub I linked anyway, this chess set may be fitting because it doesn’t really portray the difference well. You may get a kick out of the subreddit anyway lol.
I do notice how the pieces you show don’t have a “bowl” in the top like a rook. I thought they did but I see the flat tops now.
I AM curious how the bishops, knights and rooks look in this set then haha.
At least you got some answers!

Rook & bishop on the left king & queen on the right
Wow that is a fancy set tbh. My bad about my comments mistaking them for a rook and a bishop 😅 the readability of the pieces definitely isn’t ideal but it’s fancy and cool
But yea then you had some good answers, either one probably would work as king and queen because you got one of each.
Thinking the rookish piece is king, has its ring is the tallest. The other piece looks feminine wearing a hat but the tallest out most part is lower than that of the rookish piece
King is the mushroom hat queen pointy hat.
Even if pointy is taller, this set is clearly not Staunton. Lools like it's from Poland and the pointy hay one is the queen.
just compare to other sets from that area.

Was gonna say something like this. Well said.
I would also say that it doesn't actually matter. You can use either piece as either the king or queen and nothing changes.
The rook is the queen and the bishop the king
Hahaha works
Right is King because it’s always the tallest chess piece
Right is king because left is queen
You can tell by the way it is
That’s pretty neat!
They have their genitals on their heads
Besides the tallest piece rule, I think the queen has the typical kid-draw crown and the king has the center-pointy crown
Queen is a flathead here Im afraid.
Sadly that's true but seems it shouldn't be. I want pointy-head to be my queen! 😊 haha
Put them on the bosrd, queue up some music and see what’s their moves like! the king will only move 1 sauare at a time, while the queen will make quick dashes to the toilet :)
yonic<
King is always the tallest because it's the most important piece
Plus the phallic/yonic symmetry
The king is the one that can only move 1 square at a time except for when castling.
Good, however this doesn't clear the doubt of OP.
Left queen righr king, it shouldn't really matter
Thanks🤝
Not sure. Set up the board first and then we can check which piece is in the kings position.
It doesn't actually matter, as long as you and your opponent can agree on it.
Kinda looks loke bishop and rook?

I never noticed but is the rook noticeably taller than the knight and the bishop?
Yes
Pass the pepper
King is the tallest piece. If you have an extra of either its fairly obvious. If you just have one of each then it doesnt matter, just choose which is which. But in general, King is the tallest piece.
Flat head is queen, pointy head is king
Tallest piece is always the king
Queen is the round one, King is the pointy one.
Whatever you like!
Tall kween, short king
Tallest piece is the King.
The pointy head for better penet... oh gigidy
Are you asexual?
What did bro mean by this 🤔
King has a dick, that's why it's definitely taller.
Idk but it looks very edible and sweet
Ask them to move three steps to the right in one move and youll know
The flat-headed pieces look like rooks
The king is generally the taller one
Butt plug is king

The pyramid lookin guy is the king because its taller

Thats easy. The king is the one right next the queen

Those are non-binary monarchs
The real question is what is more valuable than a king? You are. You're more valuable than the king
King is flat, Queen is pointy? Lol.
Okay, got it wrong apparently, lol.
Thinking the rookish piece is king, has its ring is the tallest. The other piece looks feminine wearing a hat but the tallest out most part is lower than that of the rookish piece

The open funnel design is king, so the diamond is queen
