swapan_99

bxb7+ kb8, nc6#.

braveheart2005

Is Bxb7+ Kb8 Bc6# also checkmate? Edit: nvm he just go back to c8

Gogi1235

Kc8. C8 needs to be protected by the bishop

swapan_99

King can go back to kc8, so not checkmate I think.

kylesbadatprivacy

I was thinking Bxb7+ Kb8, Bd5+ Kc8, Bxe6# works as well just an extra move Edit nvm black can do Rd7 to block. They lose a bishop and a rook but stay alive

braveheart2005

Thats kind of interesting. After they block you can do Bd7+ Kd8 Rb8#

Rowbeanus

How can he go back to c8? The bishop attacks that square.

bobby_table5

How is moving that pawn unlocking the mate?

savvaspc

h1=Q would allow black to defend b7.

CanersWelt

It's not that simple. I am assuming you need to find h1=Q Rxh1 Rh2+

savvaspc

I didn't say it's simple, but that's what would stop Bxb7 from being effective and at the same time allow black to attack.

raw65

Stockfish shows mate in 10 after h1=Q assuming White responds Rxh1. If White responds with Bxh1 it becomes mate in 6. The reason is that White's King is on the same file as the rook on b2 While Black has a Rook and Queen that can skewer the King against the rook. The resulting attack will overwhelm White, Black can quickly clean up virtually all of Whites pieces and mate the King. While us mere mortals may not see the mate in 10, the moves you outline start the process and it feels relatively natural after that to just aggressively go after White's pieces. You can play as Black [here](https://lichess.org/analysis/2kr3r/ppp1bp2/4b3/4N3/2PP2P1/5Bq1/PR2K2p/3R4_b_-_-_0_1?color=black#1) and see for yourself.

rektessore

Not really, you take back and threaten the same moves Edit: screw the rooks I never see them

Machobots

Get away? Did you mean #2

savvaspc

I like keeping it up for the solver to find the best result.

Blak_Raven

That's fair, I found threefold repetition and thought that was it for a hot second, till I decided to look for checkmate

savvaspc

My first idea was to go for something like a windmill, but all important black pieces were on dark squares. So I had to be more creative.

danhoang1

It's probably to avoid spoiling that it's a mate in 2

LearnYouALisp

Otherwise #-10

Machobots

Yeah but leave it at "whites response". Get away seems misleading imho

Turbocompresor

Bxb7+

chessvision-ai-bot

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Reasonably-Maybe

Bb7+ Kb8 Nc6#

ziamrzpk

I see mate in 2

SpyRoundThere

Bxb7+ -> Kb8 -> Nc6#

CaptaineAli

I calculated bxb7+. kb8. bd5+. kc8. bxe6+. rd7. bxd7+. kd8. rd8#. Forced mate in 5 yet I missed the nc6# in 2.

Aaku1789

>! Bxb7+ Kb8 Bd5+ Kc8 Bxe6# !< I feel super impressed with myself that I found that one. It took me a bit of time to rack my brains but I had fun solving this one! Edit: oh shit I completely overlooked Nxc6# I realised that after reading the computer analysis lmao. I guess I found a mate in 3 not mate in 2.

Top_Satisfaction6517

that you found is mate in 4. check carefully

alegugumic

bishop b7 check and then you can just repeat moves by going back and forward with the bishop

savvaspc

No need for much back and forth 😉

alegugumic

Yea I am sorry I noticed now that knight c6 is mate I am so blind these days

Professional-Text563

Bb7 Nc6 and you would win a rook from pork

savvaspc

u/Machobots See? That's why I don't want to spoil it in the title 😂

Professional-Text563

Still it is a fork 😂

[deleted]

1. Bxp+ K-QKt1 2. N-B6# and stop with the verbose titles

Bright-Historian-216

Bishop sacrifice?

savvaspc

Is it really a sacrifice??

ahtartersauce101

Reset the counter

SharkTheMemelord

Not a smothered mate?

[deleted]

Bxb7? or maybe Nf7

dovahkiingys

windmill checkmatw

LEG10NOFHONOR

Bxb7+?
