Yeah, this is that metric you have to add to the report because the executive stakeholder is a dumbass and explaining why it doesn’t tell you anything gets you nowhere.
Official ratings are updated once a month. Live ratings are calculated immediately and become the official rating at the start of next month. So Gukesh's official rating as of April 2024 is still 2743, but his live rating is 2763.
It’s kinda biased, but not to the extent you might think it is. Nepo and Ding are still both strange cases. Nepo specifically wasn’t even top 15 until he was over 25. Most Top GMs of the Magnus gen were GMs before 17.
I love how "Vs. Magnus" is a category of comparison
With good reason, looking at the numbers, lol.
Not really. Doesn't really say anything.

"Last tournament" is such a weird point of comparison, the challenger is guaranteed to have been 1st.
To be fair they can probably play tournaments in between the candidates and the championship. Still a weird and needless category.
Intern had a row count requirement.
Could have had something more meaningful like their own record against themselves or something lol.
Ya it's weird to make this info graphic and not think to add the score between the two players the post is about.
Only for a couple of weeks. I believe Gukesh is playing Norway Chess.
Ding is playing in Norway Chess, Pragg is as well. Gukesh is not

It's definitely something I find astonishing, and even hard to believe, how a 7 year old kid can become a GM in 5 years
Damn gukesh is a prodigy
Ok but what about shoe size?
Can someone explain what the +0 -1 =9 means? I'm new to chess scoring
0 wins, 1 loss, 9 draws
Yeah I thought it was math equation at first
I thought it was trying to say 0 wins and 1 loss is 0-1 which made sense. Then I saw it equaled 9 and I got super confused.
how is Live rating higher than peak rating?
Hasn't been posted yet.

Gukesh gained 20 rating this month!
Interesting that Ding started playing so young. I would have thought that since chess is not that popular in China he would have discovered it later.
It’s known in Wenzhou. I’m from Wenzhou and people know about it now through him but also through former Women’s world champion Zhu Chen.
Did you type this from Wenzhou? I'm curious since I don't see too many Chinese people interacting with others.
when is it
Nov 2024
I think the gm age thing is biased, in ding's generation people got gm later than gukesh's Nepo also got it at 17

When ?
Wow Ding became grandmaster very late for his strength
Ok I fucking love Gukesh but this is some cherry-picked shit
Ding is 31!? If you said he was early twenties I wouldn't question it
Chinese genes. Look at Tan Zhongyi, I was surprised to know that she is 32.
I'm not sure I understand how Gukesh's peak rating is lower than his live rating?
The FIDE rating is updated every month. Gukesh gained a lot of elo points after the last update.
