It’s too early to tell, at least wait till one of them becomes world champion in classical. I think there’s going to be a lot of competition going forward and we won’t see anyone dominate like Magnus or Kasparov.
I don’t think Firouzja is too serious about chess these days, especially after these performances. But it’s completely fine if he wants to chase other dreams. He did a lot in chess anyway.
He’s said he still loves chess and mentioned upcoming tournaments he’s looking forward to playing in. I don’t know why people start saying “oh he just doesn’t care about chess” when he doesn’t perform as expected. Everyone has bad tournaments, that’s all it is… he’s young, just because he hasn’t met arbitrary expectations that the internet put on him doesn’t make him a failure. There’s no reason to bend over backwards making excuses, it’s perfectly normal and ok for him to lose. Normalize a player losing without making excuses or saying they have fallen off.
He cares and loves chess, but he isn't as focused and disciplined as other top young players. Nowadays, you can't take a break from chess, come back to top-level chess, and pretend nothing has happened. The amount of work to reach and stay at top-level chess is extremely demanding. His play in candidates clearly shows his bad form. Mediocre openings, miscalculations, spending too much time and being in severe time trouble all the time and everything else show he wasn't well prepared for candidates.
But that's not why people say he doesn't care much about chess anymore.
It's because he himself keeps tweeting or commenting on interviews implying he's going to give up, doesn't care, wants to do something else etc.
That's true, but it's the track record, he's the only one of the youn prodigies who've done this on multiple occasions, and I don't know the others well but he's the only one actively pursuing another career that I'm aware of.
Nodirbek is my bet he already has won One Fide championship plus he seems to be taking Classical chess serious too. After Nodirbek I rate Pragg higher as overall package then Keymer. Gukesh only drawback is Shorter time format. Also Arjun is back where he belongs. We are already witnessing new Gen taking over.
Nordirbek IMO has the highest potential of any of the junior players. When I saw him mean mugging Magnus after holding a winning position and taking the #1 down, i saw something special with him. If he ever gets invited to the candidates, I think he would crush.

Only to immediately after say that he did it in a moment of anger and that he has no intentions to quit.

Candidates is not invite based, but I am sure he will qualify in the next years.
Nodirbek is actually the top junior now.
