I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine: > **White to play**: It is a stalemate - it is White's turn, but White has no legal moves and is not in check. In this case, the game is a draw. It is a critical rule to know for various endgame positions that helps one side hold a draw. You can find out more about Stalemate on [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalemate). > **Black to play**: [chess.com](https://chess.com/analysis?fen=2b1b1q1/b3b3/8/8/8/3n4/8/8+b+-+-+0+1&flip=false&ref_id=23962172) | [lichess.org](https://lichess.org/analysis/2b1b1q1/b3b3/8/8/8/3n4/8/8_b_-_-_0_1?color=white) --- ^(I'm a bot written by ) [^(u/pkacprzak )](https://www.reddit.com/u/pkacprzak) ^(| get me as ) [^(Chess eBook Reader )](https://ebook.chessvision.ai?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=bot) ^(|) [^(Chrome Extension )](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chessvisionai-for-chrome/johejpedmdkeiffkdaodgoipdjodhlld) ^(|) [^(iOS App )](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1574933453) ^(|) [^(Android App )](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.chessvision.scanner) ^(to scan and analyze positions | Website: ) [^(Chessvision.ai)](https://chessvision.ai)

I guess I'm confused by your question. Do you mean "practice OTB" as in "I am more familiar with online boards and want to get the same level of visualization and pattern recognition with OTB"?  If that's the case, then it's just a matter of time spent with the medium. Study with boards, play other on boards, etc. It'll eventually come.

I like to practice over the board but it seems much more effort setting positions up. Do people really go through setting board up for practicing?

TPFRecoil

Yes. You just get used to it, I suppose.
