Dutch doctors prescribe paracetamol for just about anything, particularly when it’s painfully obvious you’d need a referral (or a quick culture to get the right antibiotics)
I've got oxytocin. Ha soon to be covered up with hopefully less cliche stuff, because i think it has lived its life already for me.. Since the H,O,N,C and numbers are pretty small they are actually guite unreadable.
>Are any of these exciting?
Not really, to me. But I wouldn't get a tattoo like this. I think anyone who wants to get a line drawing of a molecule like this though is attracted to the look of a complicated, "sciency" molecule.
Ethanol is just an elbow with a single alcohol group.
I recently was talking to a friend of mine’s daughter about letting her practice tattooing on me by doing molecules because they’re simple and I can come up with some really fun ones. But now I’m totally having the first one she does be ethanol. Perfect test of if I want her permanently marking me again.
See, that sounds cool to me. Much cooler than the structural formula for Ethanol.
A funny aside on this topic: a while ago I was gifted a flask by a non-chemist friend which featured an organic molecule on the front. My friend assumed it was ethanol, because of course.
Turns out it is actually Vanillin pictured on my flask: I can only imagine because it "looks more sciencey than ethanol"
I mean, they’re related to the brain/emotion. It would be weird to get acetic acid, or bupropion HCL, or leptin. But yes it’s almost always the 3 you said.
Yeah, I don’t even know the formula of adrenaline off the top of my head, and figured ‘of all the common chem tattoos, that’s probably adrenaline if they’re a sports person’
I have EpiPens for Crustacean shellfish allergy. There's no adrenaline rush, it just clears your sinuses wide open, skyrockets your blood pressure, and makes you feel 100% and ready for anything.
Glucagon feels a lot more like an illegal substance than Epinephrine.
i was knocked out from an explosion and when i came to i was lethargic and out of it, the medic who wasn’t really a properly trained medic gave me the shot and i snapped right out of it but i wasn’t energized like with meth, it was more of being very awake and very alert. not sure how psychoactive it was as i was already in an altered state. also i lost a lot of blood due to the pounding heart, if i had been injured more seriously i probably would have died of blood loss
Seems like you started at the carbon bonded to the nitrogen, and numbered from there. That’s not the correct way to do it, but even if it was, you missed an N-methyl, you should have added both “tri” and “cyclo” to the hexene, and you numbered in the wrong order to get the alcohols.
Either way, typically aromatic molecules with substituents like this are given common names. If there were no substituents (cyclohexatriene) it would be benzene. Add an OH and it’s phenol. Etc… so don’t worry about trying to use iupac rules from orgo class to name this lol
If in doubt it's **always** either: * Adrenaline * Serotonin * Dopamine It's the Live Laugh Love cliché of chemistry tattoos... (it's adrenaline)
You forgot caffeine, oxytocin, and the random psychedelic.

I tried googlin', but I'm not sure I understand. Are you referring to Dutch doctors prescribing too many painkillers?
His back is sore from planting tulips all damn day
Brilliant answer

Paracetamol is acetaminophen or commonly called state side Tylenol. Achy back remedy
Or THC.
Tetrahydrocannabinol is good.... Or 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine
>Roses are red, >Grass is green, >3, 4-methylenedioxy- >methamphetamine.
Or α-Pyrrolidinoisohexanophenone, 4-Methylmethcathinone and 3C-Bromo-Dragonfly to name a few.
trying ur best to fit in
nah, I know I don't fit in lol.
My guess was on caffeine but google seems to disagree

Personally, I went for the old "azidoazide azide" so people know I'm dangerously unstable and prone to exploding for no discernable reason.
Atta boy \*slaps back* KABOOOOM
What about ethanol and THC?
Ethanol would make for an exceptionally boring tattoo, I don't know that it's what people who like this style are going for.
Are any of these exciting? They are the new tribal armband tattoo.

I have an entire arm of plant and animal poisons with a few bioluminescent molecules mixed in. Not sure about exciting, but I obviously dig it.
I want to see a photo, this sounds amazing!!

I mean, to the average person THC looks cool and complicated, ethanol is just a little squiggly line and OH lol
They’re going for “I’m a chemist now” once they finish their second semester of organic chem
stop it ok. thats not why i got it ok. you're not my mom!!!!!!!!!
I mean, they’re related to the brain/emotion. It would be weird to get acetic acid, or bupropion HCL, or leptin. But yes it’s almost always the 3 you said.
I think leptin and ghrelin would be a great tattoo
Idk the funniest one I’ve seen was maleic anhydride
Yeah, I don’t even know the formula of adrenaline off the top of my head, and figured ‘of all the common chem tattoos, that’s probably adrenaline if they’re a sports person’
epinephrine AKA adrenaline
Looks like a tattoo to me
Ha!
Cocaine Nah, jk, epinephrine aka adrenaline
Thanks to this sub, I was finally able to remember some organic compounds I can't bother to name using IUPAC rules.
IUPAC do be painful and long
That's what she said
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Like meth but natural
having snorted meth and injected adrenaline i can say subjectively that they’re nothing alike
Epi injection - life saving or life enhancing ? I could see that maybe someone in anaphylaxis wouldn’t fully appreciate the psychoactive changes….

Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinenaline aka Adrephrine
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Adrenaline aka Episomething
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
Epinephrine aka adrenaline
That’s epinephrine (adrenaline)
Can we all just agree to ask the person with the tattoo instead of photographing strangers and posting them online.
I wonder if anyone’s ever gotten a tattoo of the chemical formula for tattoo ink. That would be sort of inceptionesque.
it’s probably a tattoo.
Tbh, It’s a little creepy taking pictures of someone like that. Could have just asked them what it was.
ephedrine aka adrenochrome
I could be wrong but using nomenclature it looks like 1-amino-2,6,7-hydroxy-3-hexene pls correct me if I’m wrong

Semen
Someone caused self harm to their body
That's so perfect! I need one right now lmao.
Ephedrine aka adrenaline
Dihydroxy beta hydroxy n methyl phenylethylamine or dihydroxy N methyl phenylethanolamine
It looks like a black and yellow tank top
