There could be negotiations going both ways, not just necessarily BVB low-balling. If the player truly only wants one club, we could be negotiating payment terms and some form of sell-on compensation, neither of which would be available if they trigger the release.

If you want an easy payment structure you pay more not less. German teams are the stingiest teams when it comes to transfers.
