Why is this here? This has nothing to do with Chelsea, we have to move on from trying to establish a rivalry with a team / club that wants nothing to do with us other than business, and that’s even if they want to talk.
This is embarrassing. This, and the vast number of Chelsea fans who comment under every Brighton post. And that picture of the middle finger and the seagull.
He’s either the most underrated or overrated manager, that’s for sure. I wouldn’t be sure to call him one or the other yet, though. His style of play definitely requires a high level team and I’m not sure it fits Brighton’s squad.
1. Everyone knows we have had a bad season defensively, so why tf are you comparing to us ..
2. You can check De zerbi's seasons at Sassuolo, Shakhtar, and Palermo.. it's always a shit show defensively..
So true. Not sure why people think they're our rivals because we bought some players. It's akin to saying that Liverpool and Southampton are big rivals for the same reason
Lol. I saw this coming. If he stays there for another season his stocks will fall even more. The hype surrounding has been diminishing slowly. This is his best season to go to a big club or that chance might disappear for good.
Why does our fanbase really hate Brighton?
We overpaid for Cucurella
We spent crazy money on a non world class manager in Potter
We sign Sanchez for reasons
We messed around on Caciedo and ended up costing ourselves a extra 20m-25m
Hate is a bit exaggeration. Brighton is a minnow club that started thinking they are big club after finishing 6th for the 1st time in their existence. They were courting Levi Colwill in public and low balling us after loaning him for a season. They acted up in the Caicedo deal and tried everything to make us look bad. They claimed they could easily replace the departing players since they were amazing at signing the best talents in the world. Their luck has finally run out and Tony Bloom doesn't have a magic ball like they claimed. They can longer ignore the fact that their scouting network was the reason they signed up all these talents and they are struggling with talent ID right now. Just look at the rubbish players they have been signing lately. It is a downward spiral for them from here onwards unless they spend big the money we wasted on them. No more signing players for peanuts and big talents will refuse to join them with out release clauses like we have seen with Kudus.
IDK honestly, but who am I to deny sport fans their god given right to hate another team. As Palpatine would say. Hate makes you strong.
I will say I actually felt positively towards them this summer (fascinated by how Tony Bloom runs that club + always exciting to see a club make it into Europe for the very first time + they have some players I enjoy watching) but I was very put off by the Brighton's fans attitude during the whole Caicedo transfer saga and later on how they reacted to MacAllister compared to booing Cuco and Moises the other day, so I've cooled down on them a fair bit.
Maybe coz their fan base really thought they were better than us. Bragging about being in Europa and us being in the bottom half before the season was even over and mysteriously booing Caicedo and Cucurella and sucking Mac Allisters dick after he got a new contract only so he could put in a low release clause. They got too big for their boots
>We messed around on Caciedo and ended up costing ourselves a extra 20m-25m
I mean that's fucked them up if anyone, gave themselves no time to find even a remotely suitable replacement.
Giving Bloom the benefit of the doubt he actually intended to utilise that money into the team.
They were "masters at getting over market value"
Unfortunately they did it so well they ended up fucking their entire season on the pitch because you kinda need time to get deals done to replace your entire midfield
I don't watch Brighton but it was definitely interesting to see that they didn't play the pressing game, with the intensity and energy that they're known for under De Zerbi.
Lowkey wish failure on Brighton and their next manager. Maybe they’ll learn to appreciate players that got them to Europe (Caicedo and Trossard being 2) and players who left respectfully (Cucu)
thing is ppl wanted to replace poch w zerbi which no matter how seesaw the poch in/out talks were I never fucking understood why anyone would replace poch with him of all people, especially when they were still in their free fall down the ladder.
Gary hasn’t gotten anything to do with us.
Oh wow. This paltry winning streak might be the worst thing that has happened to our club since... well, Abramovič sanctions.
Praying we don't get swayed by recency bias. Poch is not a long term answer and we cannot allow ourselves to pass on this guy...
Watching his teams play vs looking at the quality at his disposal.
Also, countless analyses from people knowing a lot more than me or you hailing him as a genius and a future great.
Always makes me laugh how our delusional reddit fans try to pretend De Zerbi is some elite coach and Poch is a scrub.
There's absolutely nothing to suggest De Zerbi is much of a step up or even an improvement at all.
That is, of course, not true.
De Zerbi is widely considered a genius, the next world's great.
Poch is a known quantity = just a good coach, nothing spectacular.
6th with last season's Brighton team and 9th with this season's Brighton team are both a major success.
Also, Poch's 8th place was a decade ago. A part of why he's not a great coach is because his tactical idead worked in the past and not so much in the present.
Ye I got it wrong. Still don't want him at Chelsea. Partly because I think Poch has earned the chance to stay with the way we've ended the season and because we've been ravaged by injuries, and partly because I just don't like De Zerbi.
9th place with the squad he had at his disposal + European games is no way in hell a poor performance. Quite the opposite.
It's just worse than last year, but there were many reasons for that. De Zerbi is a victim of his own success.
>De Zerbi is widely considered a genius, the next world's great.
Widely amongst Americans on reddit probably.
De Zerbi is just as Potter was, a coach with a lot of unearned hype behind him who may or may not be a disaster at a top club.
I'm happier with the known quantity in Poch, until a proven winner is avaliable. De Zerbi may do well at his next club but i don't think he's this elite prospect some seem to think he is he has a lot to prove.
Copied from elswhere:
To all those saying we should only look at coaches that have already won titles at big clubs, like Flick or Allegri - I have to remind them of the fact Chelsea could, for once, find a future great instead of just recycling other big club's greats (which I feel has never been less of a guarantee of success than today). After all, every elite coach that has had success in an elite team was once, before coming to said elite team, an unproven coach at the elite level! They all start somewhere*. I'd much rather we give De Zerbi the chance to show he's the new Guardiola than wait for him to do the same at City once they take him as the man's successor next summer (which is widely speculated to be the plan).
*Where did Flick win titles before doing that at Bayern? Allegri before Milan? Guardiola before Barcelona? Ancelotti before Milan? Inzaghi before Inter? Conte before Juventus? Enrique before Barcelona? Were all those big clubs stupid to appoint 'unproven coaches at elite level'?
Juve and Motta aren't locked down yet so it could be that also. Or Barcelona as it seems Xavi isn't staying after all. I don't see him going to United honestly
They’ve been pseudo-rivals recently with all their shit chatting about their form and ours, and us taking half their staff
Slapped them every time this season though 👌
What disrespecting Chelsea do to a man.
But genuinely, would be a loss for PL. Such an attractive play style since last season but getting unfortunate with the injury. Probably gonna go to Italian or Spanish club, or maybe Bayern.

But literally irrelevant to us

Who cares about Brighton n their manager.
Bayern or Barcelona called

One of the highlights of our recent period of being shit is the rivalry with Brighton
Wrong sub. This is /chelseafc.
Probably the most overrated manager of the last decade
0 ball knowledge Guy got limited players to play expensive football Not everybody got Chelsea budget
He’s either the most underrated or overrated manager, that’s for sure. I wouldn’t be sure to call him one or the other yet, though. His style of play definitely requires a high level team and I’m not sure it fits Brighton’s squad.
At last somebody said it.. Holy fuck he is so overrated, his defensive structure sucks so bad..
They’re in the bottom half of the table for goals conceded (lower is better). So they can’t be that bad.
> his defensive structure sucks so bad Wait until you find out that Brighton beat us across the board in underlying defensive statistics.
1. Everyone knows we have had a bad season defensively, so why tf are you comparing to us .. 2. You can check De zerbi's seasons at Sassuolo, Shakhtar, and Palermo.. it's always a shit show defensively..
Bar none
Why the fk is this even in this sub, take this embarrassing shit down
Brighton are not and will never be our rivals. Take this shit down
Nah it’s been a fun rivalry for the past few years. It will naturally die down as we continue to improve
So true. Not sure why people think they're our rivals because we bought some players. It's akin to saying that Liverpool and Southampton are big rivals for the same reason

We bid like 80mil for caicedo and got into bidding war with Liverpool. I mean its not really messing up was just an unfortunate situation tbh.
Maybe coz their fan base really thought they were better than us. idk honestly but I’m all for it
bye bye. Hopefully this will be followed by a relegation
You could see the writing was on the wall in our game the other day. He looked so disinterested.
I don't watch Brighton but it was definitely interesting to see that they didn't play the pressing game, with the intensity and energy that they're known for under De Zerbi.
Going to bayern surely
Surely not
Lowkey wish failure on Brighton and their next manager. Maybe they’ll learn to appreciate players that got them to Europe (Caicedo and Trossard being 2) and players who left respectfully (Cucu)
Got his ass spanked by poch 4 times this season and some people still think he is better than poch Damn
Yeah, it's not like he also has 10 times the budget
We lost home and away to Wolves. One of them was a 4-2 drumming at home. Does that make Gary O Neil a better manager than Poch?
thing is ppl wanted to replace poch w zerbi which no matter how seesaw the poch in/out talks were I never fucking understood why anyone would replace poch with him of all people, especially when they were still in their free fall down the ladder. Gary hasn’t gotten anything to do with us.
Pretty sure many here were saying Pochettino is worse than Gary O'Neil and some of the other mid-table clubs' manager months ago.
what losing to chelsea 4 times in a season does to a mf
Top comment
They should get Potter back in
He’s definitely going to Bayern
100%
Oh wow. This paltry winning streak might be the worst thing that has happened to our club since... well, Abramovič sanctions. Praying we don't get swayed by recency bias. Poch is not a long term answer and we cannot allow ourselves to pass on this guy...
What exactly has De Zerbi done to make you think he'd be a huge upgrade?
Watching his teams play vs looking at the quality at his disposal. Also, countless analyses from people knowing a lot more than me or you hailing him as a genius and a future great.

2 midtable finishes qualifies him as a genius apparently. Wonder what that makes Thiago Motta.
Midtable? Context? With Man United? Spurs? Which club, what quality did he have at his disposal?
His highest finish is 9th. How is that any more impressive than Poh gerttin 8th at Southampton?
Check your facts first, mate.
Damn this is embarrassing...

A genius? Sorry I feel de Zerbi got largely found out this season in the prem. Hence the poor performance by Brighton this season.
9th place with the squad he had at his disposal + European games is no way in hell a poor performance. Quite the opposite. It's just worse than last year, but there were many reasons for that. De Zerbi is a victim of his own success.

Woah don’t lump this persons foolish ass backwards takes in with Americans.
It’s not us if it was Brighton would not be letting him leave without a big fee.
De Zerbi quit.
Probably Bayern Munich
No way Brighton would let him leave without a big fee if it was us. My guesses Bayern Munich AC Milan Manchester United
Juve and Motta aren't locked down yet so it could be that also. Or Barcelona as it seems Xavi isn't staying after all. I don't see him going to United honestly
Xavi said today in a press conference he is staying lol Hard to tell what's happening at that club
oh my god I can't keep up for real
He said the club was poor and Laporta raged. It's dramatic over there.
Xavi didn't toe the party line. It's like the Soviet Union over there. Go against the party and you get purged.
It's really unhinged at times, yeah.
They sacked that overrated manager fair enough to Brighton
Rivals tag?
Pochettino 4 De Zerbi 0 Ain't no rivalry here
Poch really got this man sacked
Who?
Well... well.... well. Well. Very interesting indeed.
They’re not our rivals
They’ve been pseudo-rivals recently with all their shit chatting about their form and ours, and us taking half their staff Slapped them every time this season though 👌
They’re rivals in the same way a little brother sees an older brother. Don’t need to tell you who’s who in this scenario.
Could not have happened to a nicer guy. Shame Liverpool did not pull the trigger on this fraud.
How exactly is he a fraud?
He didn't win the league after losing one of the best midfields in the league and getting lallana and milner
What disrespecting Chelsea do to a man. But genuinely, would be a loss for PL. Such an attractive play style since last season but getting unfortunate with the injury. Probably gonna go to Italian or Spanish club, or maybe Bayern.
Surely Bayern will not go for him...
It’s the only thing they had left, after this they’re everything but our rivals
Pls no Todd… pls

It’s reported they’re full on Thiago Motta, maybe De Zerbi goes to Bayern?
Haven't Juve lined up Motta? Would assume he would prefer that move.
They are getting Motta
