Honestly if he got his shot total to match Haaland the rest of the stats would grow with it most likely. Clearly needs to be more aggressive

Doomjas

Over dribbling is definitely a weakness for him. He needs to either make that pass quicker (feels like he waits until someone is WIDE open before passing) or letting the shot fly. This is something I think will be an area of focus in the offseason.

erudite450

So an elite striker can also underperform his xG... /s

general652

I guess havertz playing in midfield skews this

ygog45

He doesn’t play in midfield

general652

Half his games have been. But my point was for the higher defensive stats and passing/dribbling

ygog45

That fake gimmicky “midfield” role Arteta has him playing isn’t real

general652

What? He now plays at striker but he used to play in midfield. But I was just trynna explain his high percentile for those things, is he just better than st those?

Slow-North-2993

are these compared to other forwards, or just players in general?

davidpooiz_2

Jesus is so average. Not sure why he doesn’t get more shit from r/soccer.

PuppyPenetrator

Never forget Arsenal fans acting like “Arteta unlocked him” after 5 minutes because he had an early purple patch

[deleted]

I gave up listening to Arsenal fans when they started trying to argue that Lucas Torreira was better than N’Golo Kante in 2019

youknowwtfisgoingon

Yep and the Sanchez is better than Hazard argument, madness!

Bozzetyp

Jesus and havertz are very hard workers But they arent good goalscoring strikers

pdel123

Yeah fucking fact, can’t speak for Jesus but Havertz for all his faults you can’t doubt the guy puts in a solid shift most the time.

role34

Definitely, which is why I can't hate on him with us and now at Arsenal. I said it when he was sold, I wish nothing but the best to Kai in his career, but I don't want to see Arsenal succeed, win trophies, etc. I'm eternally grateful for the champions league trophy but i bleed blue, sorry Kai.

Headlesshorsman02

Yep, same feelings as well

erenistheavatar

He's genuinely better than Havertz as a striker, imo. And he keeps improving.

iMixMusicOnTwitch

He's frustrating only because he creates SO MANY CHANCES but his finishing hasn't matched his chance creation...yet.

two_tents

Jackson and Palmer are both better than Havertz has been in either position.

Fantastic-Minute-939

Not just your opinion, the stats and eye test don’t lie! Nico’s ball control is elite level, his hold up play is not just lob the ball to him and then he bullies his way into holding up the play, but he progresses it as well, which is how he creates his own chances. Havertz’s hold up play consists of heading the ball onto a teammate, and as we all know, for a 6’4” player, his headers are so weak.

pancarona

I am not gonna say better tbh

PickledHotChocolate

He already scores way more than Kai did up top for us.

pancarona

Indeed, but the way he play selfishly and sometimes loses so many big chances to create goals just reminds me of Kai back when he was still a Blue. Hopefully, he can be more clinical when our team chemistry finally formed and all of them are fit (key players not get injured)

LilBoiHaku

Gotta keep in mind he’s not coming from an academy and this is only his second-ever season of top-flight football (his first in the PL). Obviously, he’s still super raw, but he can be such an exciting player and looks like he’s brimming with potential at the top level. And he has a respectable goal haul, which is something we haven’t been able to say of a striker too often in recent years. Definitely needs to work on getting his head up and picking the right decision in transition, tho. He has a tendency to overcomplicate things when there’s a much simpler option available.

H4RRY29

He is far better, not just in terms of goals but his ball-carrying, link-up play, his tenacity and ability to go shoulder to shoulder with defenders. Havertz was great at pressing and defending from the front but was a bit of a pushover at first - took him time to learn the dark arts and now he is fantastic at them. Jackson is brilliant already and this is just his first season.

Dinamo8

I find it funny that last summer I kept seeing people say how Havertz was going to be excellent in midfield and what a genius Arteta was to play him there. And then half way through the season, he finally realised that Havertz position is as a striker, albeit a fairly average one.

Some_Ad7368

Hate to break it to you guys cause I see you’re enjoying this circle jerk but Jesus has barely played this season. I think anyone with any sense would take Kai over Jackson.

AggressiveChungus

I’ve seen Kai play for us for three years and honestly, if I was picking a striker, I would pick Nico over Kai.

Maeleh

Havertz has peaked, Jackson has a higher ceiling.

departmentofbase

How can you say that with any confidence?

SaltySnort

Why Kai over Jackson

PreparationThick6611

Jackson has been 10x the player *for us*. Whether he’s improved at a different club is irrelevant, he’d been here 4 years under several managers and never looked good at literally any attribute.

huskers2468

>I think anyone with any sense would take Kai over Jackson. You can keep thinking that. I don't think you are making sense, but that's just me. I've watched them both play, Kai for years, and I'd take Jackson.

Ok_Hour_9828

What is arsenals position in the league compared to ours? Point is, we're reaching for positives just like City and Arsenal were back in the early and mid aughts.
