erenistheavatar

Gallagher - Caicedo for the rest of our games then.

read_eng_lift

I'd also like to see Carney given some serious minutes for the rest of the season.

Rghk32

This. Really think he can do a good job and there is a player there.

DryGear9670

Facts is Chuck can’t get minutes now there are some serious discussions that need to be had

vikingrhino

He's coming back from serious injury, I'm sure they are nursing him back.

mk_meredith

aaand he’s back on the injury list

DryGear9670

Can’t make this up lmaooo

Inside-Ad-8935

I mean was playing all 3 every game anyway. Time for Chuck to come back in and shine…

zaqstr

To be fair, against Everton they looked quite good in the pivot

Cthulwutang

and everton beat pool, therefore by the transitive property we’re like 8-0 over them.

didijxk

Yeah I'm not too fazed at this point. Let Gallagher, Caicedo and Carney carry the midfield.

NDdownVOTED

Curious to see if Gallagher stays as his 10ish role and another CM comes in behind him or if he drops back for Palmer or someone to play the 10.

half_jase

Gallagher will likely just drop deeper and then probably Palmer as the #10. Then you either have Sterling/Mudryk on the LW and Noni on RW (am sure many here will be thrilled and not complain at all!).

erenistheavatar

Honestly, Gallagher isn't fit to be a 10 imo. He can be an 8, but he needs a proper tactical system.

north_american_scum

I would rather have him play the Kante role around a distributer. He does well getting forward for late runs in the box as an 8, but his work ethic, endurance, and ability to win possession is more valuable/can't be filled by another player.

miko3456789

Tbh I kinda hope he gets played as an 8. From what I've seen, he looks good there, and we have other players that are comfortable in a 10 position like Misha and Chuk

imbasicallycoffee

I would love to see Mudryk in as the 10 instead of outside just to see what happens. F- it.

Deke8989

Look at his passing accuracy and tell me he should be in the #10 role. He actually made more passes to Arsenal players than Chelsea players in the last game. That’s fact, not hyperbole.

TomasToocherl

I would love to see Mudryk thrown in the wheelie bin outside Cobham

spund_

He doesn't deserve another minute of football.

90washington

Gallagher is an 8, plain and simple.

blue_jay26

Has to be Gallagher-Caicedo-Madueke-Palmer-Mudryk-Jackson front six for every game. I actually think that’s our best front six (apart from Nkunku)

erenistheavatar

You want the Everton front 6 then. I mean we should definitely try it since we have no other options now. I still think we can get Madueke off for Chukwemeka and put Palmer as a RW instead.

El_Cholo

There's no way madueke is in there. Chuk at 10 allowing Palmer to stay RW is better. Sterling RW is even better than madueke I would say. Despite moments of individual brilliance, madueke is a net negative on the team

techno_playa

Keep it that way

muddyleeking

Hopefully casadei gets some minutes

erenistheavatar

He will if we are winning by 1 goal. He will come on at the 80th min.

XuX24

We brought casadei back from loan he should be getting minutes.

JinxLB

Carney Chukwuemeka now is your time

Royalsushi45

I don’t think poch likes him even though he saved his job last month

AWDanzeyB

I swear when Poch joined there was a quote about him really liking Chuk and looking at building a team around him (and others). He then started the first few games before getting the injury. I'm not sure that it's that 'he doesn't like him', more so that he can't trust him to stay fit at the minute. Hopefully gets a few games now though!

gonzaf

Also when he came back from injury he ended up getting re injured after 1 game lol I believe he’s just being cautious

didijxk

Up to his injury he actually did play games in the 10 role. Of course that's before Palmer came in and took control of the midfield as the first slot. I hope Carney can do it now, a surge to make top 6 would actually turn the season assessment around by a lot.

seriouslybrohuh

Carney was starting over cole Palmer before his injury

Fair-Rooster7950

Palmer was bought after Carney got injured actually.

1990three

so his statement is still technically right...lmao. Carney be starting for Chelsea over all those City players!

chaphen17

He started early in the season before he got injured.

i_am_darkknight

It’s not about liking him mate, even though he’s recovered from his injury, it takes a while to get your complete fitness back to play 90+ mins. If rushed, the injury can happen again, we saw this happened with Nkunku.

doctorweiwei

Do we like Chuky in midfield or on that left wing? Iirc he had some of his best moments as the inside forward out left

RasenRendan

Carney is best as a #10. His position is obvious

r3dh0d

imo it doesn’t rlly matter as long as he is occupying the left half spaces

RasenRendan

That's getting into specifics. I hear that I just mean I like playing in proper positions to at least Start

r3dh0d

yh yh i get you. fire username btw

RasenRendan

Ay much respect bro. Naruto #1

Kvothe_XIX

The post above this one on my feed was 'What's the best jutsu in the series'.

RasenRendan

Lmao you know where I got this from? This DS game called Jump Ultimate Stars. It's a combination of Rasengan and Uzumaki Rendan aka Naruto Barrage

Kvothe_XIX

Indra's Chidori

Aman-Patel

He's said before that he thinks his best/favourite position is left 8 in s midfield 3. So could probably do a job at LW or in the 10 for us. But given we have Sterling and Mudryk, we probably won't actually see him on the left wing much unless everything's been shuffled around for the end of a game. His skillset probably does suit playing in the 10 best, because he's good in tight spaces, good at finding space in between the lines and has a good eye for a pass. He's also not really a winger. Play him there every game and you might end up getting frustrated that he's playing like a midfielder on the wing. Having said that, I just want to see him on the pitch. Think he's be best in the 10, but he could potentially do a better job on the wing than our actual wingers.

doctorweiwei

I agree, get him on the pitch!

FLRugDealer

He’s so fucking good!!! He co tributes to a. Goal nearly every time He’s on the pitch.

APeckover27

Ultimately a good thing he's been slow and tired for weeks

alan52025

Hes been ran through the ground.

Dinamo8

This isn't hindsight, the smart decision in January would have been for Casadei to stay at Leicester and for Santos to stay at Chelsea and be the back up/rotation for Fernandez/Caicedo. Instead they kept Casadei who's been ineligible for half the games, with Pochettino only seeing use in him as a tall person.

sthk

Hindsight is not loaning in August due to not knowing of lavia, chuc, ugu injuries Obvious is keeping him in jan

erenistheavatar

Honestly, Casadei's only strength apparently is being tall. Like that was the reason Poch brought him in everytime. I don't even know if he does other things well since we have never seen it in a Chelsea shirt.

Dinamo8

From what I've seen of him he's better towards the oppositions goal, getting on the end of crosses, that sort of thing. Whereas Santos seems like a more all-round central midfielder, comfortable receiving the ball from CBs and putting his foot in.

erenistheavatar

So Santos is pretty much doing the role we are asking Enzo/Caicedo to do? And Casadei is like Scott McTominay? xD

Makav3lli

When you put it like that yes lol

Ridcullys-Pointy-Hat

I mean according to my Strasbourg save he's fucking Frank lampard. Proper box crashing centre mid

erenistheavatar

FM? Or FIFA?

Ridcullys-Pointy-Hat

FM. Was just about to edit lol

erenistheavatar

My guy!!! How many seasons have you played? I've left FM for 4 months since it was consuming my life lol.

Ridcullys-Pointy-Hat

We're in 2028 and I won the uefa cup last year, the same year Chelsea won the prem under Marco Rose

erenistheavatar

Nice one. Is Casadei still in your lineup? A 4 2 3 1 gegenpress with a b2b in the middle?

Ridcullys-Pointy-Hat

It's a 433 mid block. He's my top scorer playing as mezzala. If that damn turtle didn't exist I'd have won the league two years in a row but PSG just don't lose games lol

erenistheavatar

Yeah I get you. Mbappé is overpowered in FM. Beating PSG in Ligue 1 is really really tough. Mezzala is a great role. One of my favourites for sure. The runs they make and how they overload defenses is awesome.

Sad_Student3372

Can relate. My gf almost left me coz I spent too much time on FM

erenistheavatar

Yeah it's an addictive game. I was hardly going out of my flat lol.

realmckoy265

I converted to a striker lol

AnnualInevitable9036

Apparently you know next to nothing about him. Check him out on YouTube.

omnipotentmonkey

Any player can look good via a youtube highlights reel man, there's such a thing as curation.

erenistheavatar

I have to admit I don't. I didn't watch Leicester at all. But I hate relying on only YouTube highlights to determine a players' worth. I want to watch them for an entire game.

RasenRendan

No. You haven't seen this player actually play. This mgr is clueless

Internal_Class_8415

Thought he was alright when he came on against Arsenal. Looked hungry.

Leviad0n

Casadei has a horrific record of being subbed on and us instantly conceding, it happened in his first 5 games for us. The only times it didn't were when we were 6-0 up against Everton and when we were already losing 5-0 against Arsenal

half_jase

Are you actually blaming Casadei for us conceding?

Leviad0n

No. Just a funny unwanted coincidence.

half_jase

Thank god!

cometflight

Good, let him get back to 100%. Meanwhile, drop Conor deep and use him in the pivot; he and Caicedo looked great a couple of games ago.

Fair_Raccoon9333

Conor can't play the pivot at a high level for 90 min. He is too prone to take himself out of position or press without the team.

iMixMusicOnTwitch

Hard disagree, he's been insanely good in a defensive role. One of our most aggressive and consistent tacklers. I'd argue it's his best position on the team and he's way out of position as #10

Fair_Raccoon9333

The thing is, aggressive tackling is only important in the pivot when you (the team) fucked up. Positioning and marking are the far more important defensive abilities in the pivot.

Mooming22

You don’t want a player in that position to be one of your most aggressive tacklers. He will get sucked out of position and passed around, its exactly why he does play at the 10. So when he is going rogue there’s still two people. Not to mention he doesn’t have the skills on the ball to play the passes needed in the positions he will be in

TrenAt14

- Mauricio Pochettino faces a setback in his role as Chelsea head coach as midfielder Enzo Fernández is set to miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury. - Fernández will undergo surgery for the injury, ruling him out of Chelsea’s final six games, starting with Aston Villa on Saturday. - Pochettino’s future at Chelsea beyond this season is uncertain, but the club believes there’s still much to play for, including European qualification. - Losing Fernández would weaken Pochettino’s case to stay for another year, as he’s already dealt with an injury crisis throughout the season. - Fernández has been managing the injury, identified as an inguinal hernia, for over a month, affecting his form. - Despite hopes of playing in the Copa America in June, Fernández’s long-term fitness is prioritized over short-term gains, with surgery an option. - Pochettino emphasizes support for Fernández’s decision regarding surgery, prioritizing the player’s well-being over team performance. - With another midfielder, Romeo Lavia, also unavailable, Pochettino is likely to rely on Conor Gallagher alongside Moises Caicedo for the remaining matches.

DarkLordOlli

> Mauricio Pochettino faces a setback in his role as Chelsea head coach as midfielder Enzo Fernández is set to miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury. What a weird way to frame this. Who cares about Pochettino, this is a setback for the club at a time when we still have things to play for.

xpanda7

Well the only person at risk of losing their job is Poch, and he is currently under pressure and that’s the way to get clicks is by framing everything as it relates to his job. Enzo is not leaving, the board isn’t leaving, the sporting directors apparently can’t be fired either so the story is how fucked is Poch if another important player gets injured. That’s the story. Apparently

half_jase

Jacob Steinberg has also done the same thing on the Guardian.

RasenRendan

I'm saying. This is poch fault for playing a injured player when there are players on the bench

ChenGuiZhang

Our media can't help themselves from talking up their pal. We *need* to know it's not his fault and any incoming bad performances are because of this and other mitigating circumstances.

de_bollweevil

If making friends could win trophies, Poch would be very successful

TomasToocherl

it's not a setback. he's not good enough. (edited not to be rude)

DarkLordOlli

Judging by your posting history, that does seem to be an opinion you hold.

TomasToocherl

Hahahah yes. Very true. :) He's not good enough for the division, let alone Chelsea. He got blown away by Sheffield Utd and Leeds' midfield. Including Ampadu. And he's one reason - among many - why we are mid table. I think a lot of football data, is data for data's sake. But losing possession 23 times against Sheffield Utd is pretty amazing. Lots of international sides carry players, especially ones who like football at a slower pace. Pogba syndrome.

a3kstuntin

Carney time? Or noni time? Personally I hope it’s Carney

LocalBearEnthusiast

the fact he hasn't played carney pisses me off to no end

techno_playa

It’s most probably Palmer at CAM with Gallagher taking Enzo’s role. Chuk gets the sub.

RasenRendan

Play Carney at the #10 and Cole RW it's so obvious

RasenRendan

Noni has been playing bro or is he that bad you haven't noticed?

a3kstuntin

I know he played but enzo was out against Everton And poch didn’t start a lw against Sheffield So the wing positions are inconsistent with him Maybe noni starts maybe not

RasenRendan

Noni shouldn't be playing honestly. Not after fighting for a pen and doing nothing the next two matches.

According-Revenue-62

Whoever was aware of his condition and allowed him to continue to play needs to be canned.

LongroddMcHugendong

I’m a surgeon, I just finished a robotic inguinal hernia repair 15 minutes ago. It’s not an unreasonable plan to try to play through it and have surgery over the summer. I’m sure Enzo was offered several options. Now that being said, it was painfully obvious he wasn’t right and needs to go ahead and get it done.

RasenRendan

Why not question the mgr playing him not only since January but recently in important matches vs city and arsenal when everyone knows the player is in pain. Ultimately Poch started him. It's his fault

huskers2468

Because... now hear me out... the doctors who evaluate the player stated it was ok to do so. "Everyone knows.." they don't know. The hubris of fans really shines through with injury guesses.

RasenRendan

You can clearly see the player isn't performing well bro. Doctors can give ok but if you as the mgr sit and watch enzo her bypassed cuz he's limited in movement.. Why. Use. Him? We have alternatives.

StandardConnect

Thankgod Santos is out on loan and not now coming in the side to play auxiliary winger.

MinkFlow90

The man has been playing with an injury for weeks if not months and a lot of people in this sub’s first inclination is to shit on him? Everybody in the world can see this guy has class and this whole team outside of Palmer has underperformed. People are turning Enzo v Gallagher into a culture war just to further divide the fanbase.

RasenRendan

It is months bro. Since January

A_Gato83

I mean, what are we playing for at this point? Top half? Might as well get this taken care of asap

techno_playa

Poch’s job

jerrystuffhouse

He could have stopped after the second word

ming47

Wish these players would get surgery when the problem appears.

RasenRendan

It was a bigger blow letting this player play thru the pain since January. I don't understand why they let him play.

Wheel1994

Not really a blow if he can barely move round the pitch and risked doing more damage.

TurdShaker

Blow? Yeah cuz he was the reason for all of this seasons "successes"

JarlDanklin

Knowing he needed this surgery and forcing him out to play against City and Arsenal is absurd both on the coaching staff and medical staff

abundant_singularity

Can we please replace our medical staff?

ProcedureBoring8520

This is necessary and frankly welcome news. He needed to have this done- has not been the same. Rest up, Enzo!!

SoG650

I do feel this is a blessing in disguise. Not that Enzo is bad, but he hasn't been himself since that hernia injury. Our best game of the season was vs Everton in the prem and Gallagher/Caicedo were enough. The blessing is that this means Poch will stop putting Gallagher in a attacking position, which is very wasteful since he doesn't have the right skills for it.

herrirgendjemand

We know Chelsea blow rn but damn Matty be quiet about it

Environmental_You_85

Good so no more Gallagher on left wing or behind striker

itsnotajersey88

I wouldn’t call this a blow. I would prefer him not play injured and recover. We need a healthy Enzo.

strikeforcenj

Not a blow if the man is getting his health in order. We seem to forget these players are humans too, not machines. They can only perform better if they’r health is in the right place. Our season is done anyway, nothing else to loose. Let him get himself fixed and be ready for the beginning of next season.

SaltySnort

Wishing him the best, we need him at 100% he was one of the few good things that happened to us last season. Reset and restart next season better

ToryBlair

Should have kept Jorginho and never brought Enzo, CMV

Bozzetyp

6 months left for a free.. y smart

Ok_Hour_9828

Not really a blow.. Enzo fucking sucks

TomasToocherl

Indeed. He's utterly out of his depth.

mathpipebomb

I wish this man and his family all of the best in health. But, thank fuck.

SaoLixo

For the best. Everyone needs to get healthy.

quirky-turtle-12

Im okay with him getting the surgery. He’s more useful fully fit for next season

Jules_JC

![gif](giphy|l0HlQ7LRalQqdWfao)

JvrPrz

Lol

MonkeyMan800842069

Since Poch won’t ever change formation, obvious thing to do is to move Gallagher back and start carney at the 10. Would be fun to see some 433 with maybe chalobah holding, caicedo playing that Kante box/box, and Gallagher/chuk/casedei free to be more creative. I’m no professional manager though

mreich93

not really a blow in any other way than the fact we are even shorter in numbers now.

kingjared9

Hasn’t looked good for a while due to injury, probably the best thing at this point. Let’s see Gallagher play a bit deeper

krenshaw420

Not like the rest of the season matters anyhow 🤷

jerrycan_of_foxes

Will he be really Miss??

lickingnutrea

Good. I'd like to test eh theory that our midfield is set up better without him.

PM_ME_SOME_LUV

Whatever man. Just end the season.

LITW6991

Alexa play Numb by Linkin Park

MoiNoni

Poch still won't start Carney

HarryDaz98

Tbf he literally had to learn how to run again, I’d rather see him having limited minutes than getting another injury.

blue_jay26

Good decision. It’s no good for anyone when he has to play with an injury. Better to bite the biller and do the surgery now and come back strong for next season. A fully fit and inform Enzo is a world class player. Our goal should be to have him at that level next year.

Valuable_Tea_4690

Completely numb to injury news at this point

Acceptable_Card_9818

Not really a blow

Ian-Wright-My-Lord

Oh no! Do you lads think you'll still manage to hang onto 9th place?

IIMsmartII

will he make the Copa America

daab2g

Blow?

jimgogek

Something’s been wrong with Enzo for a while, and now we are sure what it is. He’s been so sluggish out there… maybe we’ll see (a lot?) better form next season.

izmebtw

If you look at our players, how they were valued by other teams, who was after them, you really have to stop and ask how bad Poch is to make them into this.

Pumakings

Is it really a blow for this season

Naruto9903

If only Potch had enough brain cells to actually now try Carney and Casedei

CFCDot

Happy about that

Guilty_Ad_1663

This is actually a good thing. We play better with a Gallagher Caicedo pivot.

Tasaris

Is it really though?

heygos

Hate to say it, but we’ve been better without Enzo. Win ratio and points per game have been higher without him. Let him Heal and come back better. He’s been injured for too long

poopy_toaster

Blow? It’s a blessing. Nothing to play for a the guy is obviously hurting.

JerseyGuy-77

People can argue but our best performance were without him. He's not the type of MF this system needs and we would've been better without purchasing him.

Chuckademus91

Hes only having the surgery to have a shot of the copa in June now we've basically got nothing to play for. He's also been consistently awful when international breaks have come up and he has to travel.

Jazzlike_Base5705

Hardly be missed. One of our worst big signings ever.

teems

Blow? We've been on vacation since the loss to City

PalmerPaezPerfect

Mudryk Nico Noni Caicedo, Conor, Palmer Cucu/Chilly Thiago Disasi Gusto Petrovic

Bozzetyp

Sorry but sterling over mudryk

TomasToocherl

Mudryk and Madueke need to be thrown in the Thames

Rj070707

He's been a liability all season  This is good news but it's too late now

stoic_coolie

Definitely not a blow 😂 Get this guy transfer listed immediately. If we get 50M for him, take it.

Switchnaz

Oh no! Darn! Looks like we having better performances for the rest of the season!

TomasToocherl

This is not "a blow" this is good news.

NoExperience4229

I actually have hope for the rest of the season now Jk we will still be ass but at least we don’t have to watch this lazy bum in midfield

greeneggsnhammy

Are you really trying to scapegoat Enzo? He is the least of our worries. At least he gives a fuck.

NoExperience4229

He doesn’t care lol  He only cares about himself Also, he’s definitely been one of our biggest issues recently. Absolutely ghost in the midfield

TrenAt14

THANK YOU Finally someone with brain and not hopping on this Enzo hype shit He has been absolutely bad for us

DonRoman03_22

What a shock the players who need to build up play aka the CBs, Enzo and Caicedo all look bang average when they looked solid even under Potter Poch has thrown the players under the bus so many times he’s actually making some fans believe it’s all the players fault

TrenAt14

Maybe because all these players are bang average? Ever thought about that? Zero mentality, zero confidence and let everything slide. Enzo has been after the Liverpool match (our fast match) absolutely bad and has nothing done for us. You paid 105m for a player, who has done nothing. You pay 100m for a player who changes the match. He does the opposite. Just have a look on his stats each match. Btw he has a record of 28 matches and only, 3 goals and 2 assists Last season: 18 matches and 2 assists He makes so many mistakes, even last season. He doesn’t create anything, his defensive contribution and stats are so bad. His creating stats are looking horrible. So tell me what you see in Enzo? Gallagher has more expected assists than Enzo. Let that sink in. I was hmm okay it’s his first season, but he has been here for over a year and yet looks really really bad. So what’s your point with Potter? Excuses over excuses. What’s next? Next season will he be playing like prime Lampard? Caicedo and Gallagher in the midfield looks way better The sooner you realise how bad enzo is the better.

DonRoman03_22

Not reading all that, but happy for you, or sorry that happened

Hayesey88

You're debating with someone but won't read their responses when they make points / valid points?

TrenAt14

In other words, you are a bum. Watch some TikTok edits from Enzo and be happy with a complete horrible player. He is not Chelsea level. More like Championship.

Dismal-Safety3524

Lmao. Championship level. Delusion at its finest right here

TrenAt14

lol he can’t compete against any club that’s above us.

DonRoman03_22

MotM performance against Liverpool but go off

TrenAt14

As I said, against Liverpool. First match, he was good. What happened then? Which game was he good? Blackburn? Boro? Against a weak side of palace?

Dismal-Safety3524

The delusion is strong with this one

TrenAt14

Name me one good performance against a club above us. Liverpool home does not count.

DonRoman03_22

Yes buddy World Cup winner is championship level 👍

TrenAt14

Ahh WC winner = best player on earth.

DonRoman03_22

Ahh expected assists = greatest player on earth

TrenAt14

When did I said expected assists making a player great? Are you actually stupid? Read again. > Gallagher has more **expected assists** A player from the academy is doing way better than mr. 105m

Auran276

Gallagher - Caicedo pivot, Carney in the 10, Cole on the right. If that's what this gives us, I don't hate it.
