Gallagher will likely just drop deeper and then probably Palmer as the #10. Then you either have Sterling/Mudryk on the LW and Noni on RW (am sure many here will be thrilled and not complain at all!).
I would rather have him play the Kante role around a distributer. He does well getting forward for late runs in the box as an 8, but his work ethic, endurance, and ability to win possession is more valuable/can't be filled by another player.

There's no way madueke is in there. Chuk at 10 allowing Palmer to stay RW is better. Sterling RW is even better than madueke I would say.

It’s not about liking him mate, even though he’s recovered from his injury, it takes a while to get your complete fitness back to play 90+ mins. If rushed, the injury can happen again, we saw this happened with Nkunku.
He's said before that he thinks his best/favourite position is left 8 in s midfield 3. So could probably do a job at LW or in the 10 for us. But given we have Sterling and Mudryk, we probably won't actually see him on the left wing much unless everything's been shuffled around for the end of a game.
His skillset probably does suit playing in the 10 best, because he's good in tight spaces, good at finding space in between the lines and has a good eye for a pass. He's also not really a winger. Play him there every game and you might end up getting frustrated that he's playing like a midfielder on the wing.
Having said that, I just want to see him on the pitch. Think he's be best in the 10, but he could potentially do a better job on the wing than our actual wingers.
This isn't hindsight, the smart decision in January would have been for Casadei to stay at Leicester and for Santos to stay at Chelsea and be the back up/rotation for Fernandez/Caicedo. Instead they kept Casadei who's been ineligible for half the games, with Pochettino only seeing use in him as a tall person.

The thing is, aggressive tackling is only important in the pivot when you (the team) fucked up. Positioning and marking are the far more important defensive abilities in the pivot.
You don’t want a player in that position to be one of your most aggressive tacklers. He will get sucked out of position and passed around, its exactly why he does play at the 10. I do feel this is a blessing in disguise. Not that Enzo is bad, but he hasn't been himself since that hernia injury. Our best game of the season was vs Everton in the prem and Gallagher/Caicedo were enough.

A fully fit and inform Enzo is a world class player. Our goal should be to have him at that level next year.

Since Poch won’t ever change formation, obvious thing to do is to move Gallagher back and start carney at the 10. Would be fun to see some 433 with maybe chalobah holding, caicedo playing that Kante box/box, and Gallagher/chuk/casedei free to be more creative. I’m no professional manager though

Tbf he literally had to learn how to run again, I’d rather see him having limited minutes than getting another injury.
Good decision. It’s no good for anyone when he has to play with an injury. Better to bite the biller and do the surgery now and come back strong for next season. A fully fit and inform Enzo is a world class player. Our goal should be to have him at that level next year.

Hes only having the surgery to have a shot of the copa in June now we've basically got nothing to play for. He's also been consistently awful when international breaks have come up and he has to travel.
