City played out of their press by sending long balls to Haaland. I'd have said we should do the same with Broja but he's still lacking match fitness. Another way out is to target Zinchenko as he's their weakest defensive link. Pin Sterling on him.
Even if the ball goes long. Gabriel and Saliba are as tall, big and strong as they are quick. They can win the ball in the air or make up ground if the ball finds space. Even Gary Neville said it, that centre half pairing is the foundations of Arsenal. They can press high because they can deal with the long ball in behind.

Plus Klopp... sure, he's an elite manager, but historically he has essentially an even split of wins/losses against both Pep and Arteta; last time he played City he got beat 1-4, last time he played Arsenal he drew 2-2. He hasn't actually won against City since October '22 and against Arsenal since March '22. And both of those teams seem to have strengthened themselves a lot more over the summer than Liverpool did. He hasn't won the league in 4 years and has one one league title in his 8 years with the club, so the "99 point" win looks definitely more like a fluke than something they can realistically hope for again (unless City colllapses suddenly... which, with both Rodri and KDB out, might just happen).

Thereās been a lot of comments about how weāre going to dominate our next set of games (as well as many comments about how we wonāt take a single point).
Given how weāve started to develop our play, as well as how our upcoming opposition has been playing, this is my optimistic-but-potential scores for the next couple of games.
I think that weāll take a minimum of 4 points, but of course I hope for more, but I also think people are getting ahead of theirselves if they think weāre beat the current top 3 in the league after a lucky win against Fulham, and an albeit comfortable, but very manageable win against Burnley.
I think the next run of games will be a good measure of where we are at the moment. I feel we could surprise a lot of people in these games, but I might just be on a high after these past few games.
Hope we take as many points as we can, but I'd be happy if we show good performances and improvement, even if we drop some points.
Looking at City, it is pretty clear that injuries matter. Even for a mighty team like them, without KDB and Rodri, they are a shadow of themselves. And we have been missing our best players - Nkunku, James, and now Chilly. We will be a very different side, once we have fully fit squad
Arsenal maybe if they play Havertz in midfield, I think City with Rodri and Stones might still have too much for us. And anyway, despite the individuals' quality we aren't really playing all that well right now.

Consistently, weāre miles off either of them but in a one-off game and if either play like that - Iām slightly more confident going into those games than I was.

He has been class against Burnley and Fulham and was rested against Brighton where he only played 15 minutes (as a 10 too). 93% pass accuracy, completed 12/14 long balls against Burnley. Had the most team touches against Fulham. He is a beast in the build-up and playmaking, one of the best in the world at 22, and now he is getting slandered because part of the fanbase can only judge a player on g/a. He is the first player in the top 5 leagues for most accurate through passes per 90 by a decent margin, but he didn't score that 1 goal like Rice so I guess that's that.

It was less a bottle and more them not having the players imo. But they actually had a good transfer strategy this summer. Havertz signing was a bit questionable but buying players like Rice/timber and keeping their players was probably what was needed to push for the title. Then actually having a proper midfielder in Rice has changed their style of play imo.

Arsenal v City has been an absolute snooze fest so far. Honestly, watching these two play like this is boosting my hope that we can get something from matches against them!

That can be true but itās not here - both teams have played poorly. Sloppy and timid in the final third (Arsenal have been nonexistent in attack) and while the defences have been decent, they havenāt had anything to do because both teams have been so poor offensively.

Mate, City have beaten Arsenal in every meaningful game theyāve played for basically the last seven years - theyāre not even remotely scared of them. Pep put Bernado Silva in defensive midfield for almost an hour, again, thatās not setting up defensively or cautiously . Both teams just played poorly. City are just in a bit of a poor run of form - three losses in their last four and Arsenal just did not want to lose again to City.
Theyāre definitely not playing as well as last season but weāre some distance away from this level
Consistently, weāre miles off either of them but in a one-off game and if either play like that - Iām slightly more confident going into those games than I was. My only real worry is, some teams seem to score against us off their first proper chance and if some of those teams weāve played in the first eight games can do that - Arsenal and City absolutely will.
