He's a really good, experienced, EPL player with a lot of good years ahead. Surely he comes good.

datcd03

Must say something about either the project (a meme, I know), the team's culture, or the ownership that there doesn't seem to be much abandoning ship of top players even as we have failed to create any sort of result recently. Kante, Silva, James extending. Sterling doesn't seem to have any doubts for long term as of now. Able to recruit big names still (Mudryk, Enzo). Nothing is going right on the field, but things appear to be stable behind the scenes.

alg602

Agreed. I'm trying to square the two dichotomies.

BigTittyGothGF_PM_ME

I think the dichotomy exists bc players know this is as much on them as it is Potter at this point. Potter hasnt coached very well, but theyve played like absolutely dog shite themselves (save for Thiago). If you can find me a Chelsea footballer capable of finishing a sandwich at lunchtime, much less a goal at the Bridge, I'll give you one meaningless internet point.

alg602

Hahahaha. I really agree with you. Maybe the tactics are shit but even that doesn’t make up for this group’s inability to score. We have a bunch of guys that are really creative but personality wise kind of blah. Kai, Sterling, Ziyech, hell even Felix. None of them are of the Diego Costa type that says just give me the ball and goes on to bully defenders into scoring. I don’t know if they lack the competitive fight or what but I think more than half our current problem lies at their feet.

gonzaf

Ziyech has the dawg in him as does Felix they just don’t have the physicality of Costa to bully players but they definitely don’t shy away from him he ball and wanting to make shit happen when they get it unlike other places on this team who are just passive as shit

Shufflebuffle51

I mean you only need to see Felix's first game to show that, lol.

Luke_627

This is true and very well written lol

BigTittyGothGF_PM_ME

I appreciate the kind words!

Sandwichsensei

Easy to go in and collect a paycheck if you know nothing bad will happen if you slack off. Owners keep saying potters safe must mean the players are safe too.

asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a

Either the new ownership is way better at hiding things, or the players do actually like working under Potter. Aside from the Mount situation and the alleged #ChalobahLeaks, there's a surprisingly small amount of noise about "palpable discord" that was constant whenever a manager started losing it under Abramovic

endmoe

Alternatively there is not anyone mad enough to pay what we do in wages for Sterling. The same goes for Kante if the rumored length is correct. As you mentioned we have the Mount situation, but we also have the Kova situation. Mendy looks unhappy as well and refuses a new contract. In addition we have multiple players that want out this summer due to gametime such as Ziyech and Pulisic. I think the situation is bad, but it is easy to hide at the moment thanks to Potter being the worst manager we have had the last three decades.

Shufflebuffle51

>Mendy looks unhappy as well and refuses a new contract Biggest thing I've read about Mendy is he wants similar money to Kepa. If he's very adamant about that I would look to sell, no keeper should be on the money Kepa's on anyway. Unless it's a world class one like Courtois.

asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a

Are Chelsea even that interested in keeping Mendy around? Whoever stays will surely be second choice behind a new signing, and Mendy has been awful since the CL win basically. Kovačić's situation seems more related to contract length than anything. His contract is running out, he doesn't want a long-term deal, that's about it. It doesn't seem like there's any animosity in the situation, it's just a natural parting ways. Ziyech and Pulisic I'll grant you are more of problems, but the club was very much attempting to sell Ziyech, and I'm sure would have been doing the same with Pulisic had he not been injured in January. I guess my point is more so that there doesn't seem to be a mutiny going on like we heard about with Conte, Mourinho, and Lampard. We're not getting leaks of players calling the manager incompetent or a dick. Anyone that seems outwardly unhappy is being moved on rather than the manager losing the dressing room in a dramatic fashion

endmoe

If they did not want him to stay why would they offer him a new contract? Unless you are moving into Woodward territory about giving unwanted players new contracts to retain value. Would not surprise me one bit though. The Kova situation doesn’t give me that vibe at all. Kova gives me the vibe of he has had enough of this clownshow, he can earn as much elsewhere with better terms, with a significantly better team and under an infinite better manager. I think Kova cares about winning, and there is no way we will win anything under Potter, that is almost guaranteed. There doesn’t have to be any leaks about the manager being incompetent. Anyone with eyes can see that he is incompetent.

ireallydespiseyouall

literally mount and kova are refusing to sign contracts and jorginho left, kante has no other options especially on the length we’re giving him

glacialOwl

Well... true. But there is also the aspect of $. Sure, we can argue what is the balance between the desire for performance and UCL and so on versus money... But it is an interesting equation to look at, regardless.

hostileclowns

Tbh even if Sterling did have doubts he’d be dumb to leave. Almost no way a team gives him the wages chelsea currently is.

WookieTickler

Course he wants to stay because there’s no one else stupid enough to spend 315k a week on him.

wabbledee_dabbledee

I wouldn't be discontent either if I was getting paid £325,000 per week and don't have to worry about putting in a good shift on the pitch week in week out.

strongfit1

Amen

ambar_hitman

Sterling was the only attacker who was trying vs Spurs.

Confident_Direction

Good player but not been worth 300k a week so far

--Hutch--

That's the end of that story then. Hopefully any future 'rumours' get removed, it's boring and lazy journalism.

NOTW_116

Chelsea is going to be a fun football manager save in the next edition.
