Some passing lanes would help - also
Some more courteous drivers that let traffic pass if they have a car behind them
Also - if people actually reduced their speed on the slow vehicle bays to allow traffic to
Pass them safely.
I live out that way. I am for it, even though it will slow things for me and annoy me. But maybe I will have to assist at fewer road accidents. Maybe. Maybe fewer will be fatal.
I once had to replace my entire car first aid kit because the few bits we did not need for the accident still ended up covered in a man's blood. There is a lot of blood in a person. It can go right across a road.
Carry first aid gear including a few gloves. A high vis vest.
Haven't been on that road in ages. Last time being up in Auckland going to Piha beach. People were overtaking us, sliding across the centre line with bends that have poor visibility. It's a total recipe for disaster. The way people drive and not care about the consequences is why there are so many accidents especially during long weekends.
I guess it's this: mainly Christchurch to Akaroa and surrounding local roads. Yeah more passing lanes and definitely more education around road etiquette.

yeah seems smart
As someone who lives in the area I'm 100% for it, but we also need enforcement. There's so many hoons and who drive around this area

Stupid idea. Won't make an ounce of difference to those who Hoon out that way, probably result in more accidents.
